Can I get 5G connectivity in IQOO 3 8/128 GB model? - iQOO 3 Questions & Answers

I am interested in buying IQOO 3. IQOO 3 has Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor with a built-in X55 modem which has to support 5G connectivity. But in the base variant of IQOO 3 8/128 GB model, the company has disabled the 5G connectivity. Can I get 5G connectivity in the base variant of IQOO 3 in the future because of the built-in X55 modem?
Please clarify my question.

When you buy, first upgrade does enable 5G radio while second one disables it. It might be possible to root an enable 5G accordingly as long as modem is already there in the phone

But I don't think this will happen as there is no kernel and bootloader unlock support for this device from vivo

Seems nice thread, I was confused for the same..Do you think if we can flash 256gb 12gh 5G enable model rom in 128gb 8gb 4G model?

with latest update looks like iqoo has unlocked 5G.

It's again disabled in OTA upgrade couple of days ago
Where is the change log of these updates?

bro the processor supports 5g but the company hasnt put the antenna for 5g. So the 4g device will not run 5g ?. The 5g was put by mistake in software update and was removed in next software update. Becoz people like you were getting confused whether 4g model supports 5g.

You received this OTA update? Can you post a picture? It seems that firmware is only for the 5G Mate 20 X
Installed it yesterday and from yesterday i'm having an issue with the 5g network it keeps disconnect from the 5g and goes to 4g
Restart the device and it still disconnect the 5g network
Is it just me or because of the update?
Edit:
I feel stupid, i was turning the power saving and that what making the 5g disconnect and goes to 4g
Sorry
What does this mean? The normal 20X will have 5G with this firmware. I don't think that's possible if it doesn't have the hardware.

Redmi NOte 8 Pro has big problems with LTE 4G + tape management. The phone does not keep the 4G + it switches and stays in 4G all the time. It's a modem management problem that does not support the double-banding needed for 4G +.

Hello, could you please specify what kind ofLTE band issues this phone have? I've just ordered Global vers. with 128 GB ROM, where Band 20 (800) is the most important for me, as it is the most frequently used one in Türkiye. It doesn't exist in my Mi5, so hope the signal and speed would be better with Redmi Note 8 Pro.
anyone played around with trying to unlock more bands? pretty sure the modem has the ability to get them all, and is just software locked for one reason or another
Even I go to engineering mode. It still cannot unlock the band 7 / 20.
it seem Chinese version cannot unlock the band.
I hope some expert can do it later and share with us.

what do you mean by "tape management"? If it's a modem management problem, then it is software related. Helio G9T's HAVE the WorldMode modem, what you're describing doesn't make sense and doesn't answer my question.

it's probably a modem firmware issue. the problem is the Helio G90T is only available on the RN8 Pro, so swapping modem firmware from another device isn't happening. I wonder if anyone with the Global variant has tried though.
I have Note 8 pro Global Version and band 7,20 is enable by default.
may work

5G or no 5G is the question on Note 10+

Greetings all,
I have a TMO Note 10+ and got it when they came out. My question is does my phone support 5G? I would hope so since I bought it when it was released. The model number is SM-N975U. I just got the upgrade (last night) to UI2 and Android 10, however I have no idea if this upgraded my phone to 5G. Any and all information will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
BH
Not entirely sure how it works over there but the Note10+ with 5G over here in the UK is SM-N976B and is specifically called "Galaxy Note10+ 5G" in About phone.
Edit: SM-N975U is not a 5G device but again not sure exactly how it works in the US with differing standards of 5G.
No unfortunately, 5G requires newer modern and thus there's a newest version of Note 10+ that's called Note 10+ 5G that you need to buy directly from T-mobile

Wish it did (bought mine soon after it came out), but the Note 10+ (the SM-N975U) we have doesn't have the 5G hardware in it.
unless you specifically bought the 5G variant there is no way to get it as it is different hardware. it's the same reason in the UK the 4G model is dual SIM while the 5G is a single SIM as the 5G model includes a single 5G modem while the 4G model caries 2 of the much cheaper 4G modems.
it's why I made sure when I purchased to phone at launch to get the 5G variant as there is no software way to upgrade from 4G to 5G, the 5G variant could get on 5G from the day of launch the problem was finding a supplier and a mast that actually supported 5G, but the last couple of months at least in the UK coverage has improved and seems to be accelerating with more firms and towers expected to make announcements January.
The 5G Variant of the Note Plus is N976U - and from what I can see, the specs are the same as on the Note 10 Plus with the exception of the 5G capability.
Something interesting - I ran antutu benchmarks on a N975U (highest score was 475,000) and a N976U (highest score was 496,000) and I am curious why there was such a big score difference between the two phones - they are nearly identical in specs. Shouldn't their scores be closer?
The only other difference I can see is that the N975U was built in Vietnam and the N976U was built in Korea.
N976b my model 5g version from ee uk have android 10 also phone was built in korea

Sorry Vietnam phone was made 17.9.2019 was made
If you wanted the 5g version of the phone you should have purchased the 5g version. They have been pretty clearly marked when you purchase them. Perhaps you can exchange your 4g for 5g if you are still within your return window.
855+

The N976U for AT&T and T-mobile has the SD855+ that’s why the scores are higher than the non 5g note..
Actually no, Note 10 5G T-mobile has a regular 855 and not 855+
One plus McLaren has 855+
EDIT: It does have 855+ as pointed out below by @billyblonco2
Actually it does have the SD855+. It’s as simple as downloading CPU-z or a similar app and compare the CPU and GPU speeds to the non 5g version and u will have your answer right in front of you.

I stand corrected, thanks. On the spec page on T-mobile's site, it lists the processor as SM8150(SKU for regular 855) and not SM8150-AC which is the SKU for 855+ which made me think it has 855. MKBHD guy also thought One plus came with faster processor. https://youtu.be/nmnTAOU44SI?t=94

While it is hard to disprove when you apparently have evidence in your hand, I cannot see a single other place on the internet that references the Note 10+ 5G getting the 855+.
It would be interesting to see what's on the hardware tab in the Samsung phone info app.
Edit: Nice man, that's quite the device. Best SOC in the best handset.
Qualcomm didn't waste time differentiating overclocked hardware names on the chips. Even other 855+ phones don't say 855+ in cpu and hardware apps.
Samsung and the carriers don't want to upset people who bought the non 5g and advertise the 5g versions have overclocked chipsets .
I'm sure there's a good reason they didn't call it the 855+ but I'm doubtful it's so other customers aren't upset.

Which variant...

Any reason to get an Exynos version over Snap Dragon?
I am mainly hesitating between 2 Snapdragon variants... N9750 from Hong Kong or the global N975F. Both dual sim.
Anyone know of a reason to go with one va the other? For one, the 9750 seems to have only 2 CSCs. Slower roll-out of patches maybe?
Exynos If you plan to root and mod the phone. There's always more development for Exynos phones.
Thanks. I need to keep it stock for mobile payment and other apps that won’t run if rooted. Any feature related reasons or availability of anything else outside of customization or development?
I seem to be missing the advantage of the TGY or BRI variants.
Thanks,

The only reason I went with the 9750 was that supposedly Snapdragon variants have better performance and battery life, however, unlike the G9650 (analogous variant for the S9+), the N9750 actually lost a couple frequency bands compared to the N975F, rendering the former useless on carriers that utilize 3G AWS.
The 975F would be, I would expect, the superior choice if you love tinkering with ROM variants and especially if you plan on signing up for the next OS beta, but don't happen to live in the US, India or Germany (for example)
Last but not least, some users I have exchanged information with on XDA are more or less convinced that the SD variants have much better RF.
Ah, thanks. Slightly better RF is a common comment I heard so far. I was hoping to hear a real world comment on the newer Exynos though. Compared to the S10, the note is said to have access to a newer Exynos SoC.
I don’t plan on using nothing but stick firmware. Which CSC is the question as I travel a lot and use 3 sims from different csc.
With this in mind, are you happy you got the 9750 vs the 975F? Should I care at this point or both are really so similar? I am not looking for any Hong Kong Specific features. And when I roam there I don’t even use a local sim.
Thanks,

I'm happy in that my device is definitely stable and fast, while I have admittedly never held a N975F, however.
My only gripe is that the 9750 is among the last Note 10 4G models to get updates. That said, it's not like Samsung is holding out on 9750 users (without reason) as the update version eventually released does have a newer version and build than the others that preceded it.

It's on sale on Brazil with the reference SM-G780GZBRZTO here.
Have not twrp and custom rom for this model yet?
there's nothing for that specific model yet, it's only been on-sale a couple of days
It's also on sale in France, here.
However, i face big issues when i use the front camera in Snapchat, it's so zoomed in, even in comparison of the "full" mode in apn (i know that Snapchat uses the full mode and not the 3/4, which makes the selfie more zoomed, but here it's apparently not just that).
Do you guys have experienced the same problem, or is it just me ?
Can I make a unnoficial TWRP for this model? I want this to make root for this model.
