OK m8 thanks for just checking. Is there Roms available or will the lineage 12.1 for the tank suffice?
I was reading through posts and clocked a debloated rom for the mantis ?
It seems a bit hit and miss from what I read with regard to being flashable as a zip file in twrp. I thought there was a complete debloated rom.zip that could be flashed instead of the stock rom already on the mantis or have I misread (I'm known for it my eyesights fooked these days lol?)

There is at least one debloated ROM available. https://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/development/1-0-debloated-rom-fire-tv-stick-4k-t4084947
I don't have any experience with it. I just installed Magisk, and ran this debloat script. https://github.com/esc0rtd3w/firestick-loader/blob/master/scripts/debloat/bloat-disable.sh
I don't believe the lineage 12.1 for tank will work on the 4k. There is a project to port lineage to the 4k, but it is not ready for release.

Yeah, be careful :good:
Sidenote, the points are wrong at the picture in the 4k unlock OP, you have to short just the other 'unmarked' side of the mentioned parts or as an alternative, just bridge (short) both sides of such a marked part with tinfoil or a fine soft flexible copper wire (as one side is already gnd)

Android TV ROM possible?

What are the chances of getting an Android TV ROM put on the FireTV? Is the partial bootloader unlock that's out there enough to do this?
I'm curious what would happen if the Android TV Launcher was sideloaded on the FireTV? I doubt it would be that easy, but I know it's been possible to get Google Play Store working and linked to your account and the ability to show all apps.
Maybe someone with a little more knowledge can expand on this and what else would have to be packaged together for the TV Launcher to work properly.

My guess is it won't work because it requires lollipop stuff. I am currently working on a lollipop build. I have some time off work so maybe I'll be able to make some progress on it.

I highly doubt that. The kernel that Amazon is using does not have a kitkat branch. Plus they really have no reason to do that.

I'd love to know how successful we expect this to be? Not trying to push or anything, of course, but I'm very curious if we have audio and video acceleration working yet? Having seen this I think I'll pick up another Fire TV, but not sure where best to buy, to have best chance of rooting it? Staples or Amazon?
I've currently got an Amazon Fire TV with your kernel boot menu installed, and would be happy to play about with some CM12 builds if it is helpful to have another users perspective. If the network does not work I have an Android compatible USB ethernet adaptor, and also wifi adaptor.
Thanks!!

Amazon has been the best place to get rootable FTV's. Staples & BB are still sending a high number of rootable FTV's as long as folks follow AFTVNews.com guides on how to Root them without updating them.

He will probably still be making them. It just happens that the latest FW update isn't much of an update Features wise. So no rush for an update. Plus Amazon is getting trickier with the FW too. So patience is a virtue..

oh im patient i just wanted to know if he was stopping the prerooted ones or not. i wasnt asking for an eta or anything. i just know some devs stop one project when they move onto another
As for CM12, it is very far from something flashable. All I have right now is the boot animation and the "updating packages" dialog. Currently my main problem is that none of the required services are starting, so I have to start them manually. Even doing that, I think I'm not starting everything that is required because as it starts loading up things, it dies because storage isn't set up properly, and bypassing that it kinda just hangs starting some android services. I'll have to enable some debug in init tomorrow to see what's going on with that.
As for prerooted, I'll still be making those. To be honest, CM12 is just a fun experiment for me. I probably won't be using it much because I watch a lot of Amazon Prime, and Android TV currently doesn't support it. I didn't really hear anyone saying anything earth shattering is contained in the newest update, and I really need to spend some extra time on it to figure out what's wrong with SuperSU, so that's why I haven't released a new one yet.

Thanks for the info - I did not realize it was still so likely to be rootable, so was unsure on buying a second.
Happy to say, I picked one up just now from Staples for $71.18 after tax in Duluth, GA. Rootable. Got that price by using a 15% off coupon, which was on their own website: http://www.staples.com/coupons

So I've gotten A LOT farther than I expected. I thought the kernel would have been a much bigger issue than it turned out to be. Anyway, right now I can get to the stock launcher and it looks like SystemUI is doing a crazy crash loop, so eventually the thing just dies. I'm going to try to get the Android TV launcher worker though. Then deal with SystemUI.
EDIT: Well I got the Android TV launcher starting... not sure what's supposed to happen with it though...

Widevine L1 Support After Rooting?

Hello All..
I'm still on the fence about pulling the trigger on the A70.
I'll go with this, the S10 / S10+, Note 9 or OnePlus 7 Pro..
But.. I'm wondering.. is there anyone that has successfully rooted the A70 ( with the root method listed in another thread ) checked to see if they still have Widevine L1 for watching Nexflix or Prime in full HD? or does Unlocking / Rooting kick your Widevine down to L3?
It Borks The OnePlus.. was wonder about Samsung.
Thanks For Any Input You Can Provide.

The last thing I want to do is spend almost $400.00 USD on a device with a 1080P SuperAmoled 6.7" Screen... and have to watch Movies in 480P..
That would be a TOTAL Waste of Money..

I Agree..
With "Widevine L1" and the 1080P support that it brings.
But.. if rooting drops it to L3 (480P) for Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime etc.. then, there are decisions to be made with MY money.
@ $400.00.. I'm only $200.00 away from an S10.. with tons of developer support.. ( wireless charging, Snapdragon 855..blah blah blah ) this device may be at that nitch price point that developers chose not to pick it up.. and either go for the Sub - $300.00 A50 or up to the $600.00 S10.
This along with the touch issues of the A70 have slowed my march towards a June 1st purchase.
Best relax keep what I got and see how this plays out with the developers and their support.. or lack there of.

The currently selled non4k stick(s) is the second gen one. Quick check, you see the name in ADB shell, 'bueller' is the old first gen, 'tank' the 2gen and 'mantis' the 4k one.
Thank you for your answer, if I have this tank generation, what should I do to root it? Is it as easy as that?

Most of these TVs use the standard MStar T22 (m7322) SoC. Check with AIDA64 or some such and post the info here. Is the TV running Android 9.0?
You should be able to unlock the bootloader from fastboot. To do much beyond that, you're going to need UART access (usually a 3.5 mm Sevice jack on the back or side of the TV; if not, via HDMI).
How much of the above can you do/understand? If something goes wrong, you'll have a brick on your hands and a call to warranty support.
(I have a Hisense 65H6570F from last year that is a T22 with 9.0.)
