[APP] Always On Display - Best App to date Samsung Galaxy A30S - Samsung Galaxy A30s Themes, Apps, and Mods

After Trying a Lot of Always On Display Apps at my Samsung Galaxy A30S,
Finally found a good app
Official download link Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.github.domi04151309.alwayson
- Just Download
- Install
- Give all permissions
- Adjust brightness as low as you want
Enjoy
Attached is the ScreenShot of My Screen:
Credit: App dev. https://github.com/Domi04151309/AlwaysOn
This is a Free Software
P.S. All of apps like this consume 4-6% of battery in a day, but i analyse that battery consumption of this app is very low because we can reduce brightness to lowest value.

Nice AlwaysOn app that works very well with the device.
Thank you!

Did you happen to find a good app for LED notification?

[Q] Could auto brightness be set more conservatively?

So as everyone knows our brilliant screen and auto brightness eat batteries like candy. Many people, understandably, disable auto brightness to conserve battery life. I haven't gone that far yet as I do use my phone in many different environments and enjoy the dynamic brightness. With that said auto brightness does set the brightness unnecessarily high.
Would it be possible to adjust auto brightness so that it still functions but sets brightness 10-20% (or a user specified value) lower than normally?
I'm not sure this would save as much battery as statically setting the brightness (is it the "auto" adjustment that drains battery or the brightness it sets it at?) but I'm sure it would be better than stock auto brightness.
You cannot do this from stock rom to my knowledge, but I'm sure there is a custom rom that will allow you to do this. You might have to search around a bit though.
I wrote an app that allows you to set custom auto brightness behaviour. You can check out the free version here.

Cool, question: will this actually reduce battery usage or possibly cause more by enabling so many extra features?
If you're willing to rebuild android from source you could try changing device/samsung/tuna/overlay/frameworks/base/core/res/res/values/config.xml to have a more subtle brightness adjustment.
Or maybe running yet another app is easier in the meantime... But maybe someone who builds custom roms might want to hack at it...
The juice defender app has a schedule for brightness i believe, So it will come on automatic during the times frames you set..good luck

Ah thanks that's what I was looking for. You can't mod this file directly without rebuilding from source? Would be cool to be able to apply this to any ROM.

Thanks, not exactly what I was looking for though. It has to be more dynamic than a hard schedule.

Editing default auto brightness levels was a Cyanogen 7 feature. If it hasn't yet been added into CM9, it'll eventually get there.

Why is it useless? I have been playing with it since yesterday and really like it, much better than system auto brightness. I don't really feel it's missing anything it the free version though I'm pretty sure I'll buy it just to support the developer. Very nice app.

Same here, it is a very nice app! I love how I can customize the brightness to match my environment and needs.
In my case, I selected "auto brightness inly on wake" in Lux Auto Brightness and it is draining battery. I paid for it but I am going to uninstall it.
Please Vito, let us know how to improve battery with Lux configurations. Thaks
While I can't provide any input on Lux, I also wrote an custom auto brightness application which can be found on Market here.
The market version isn't really good on Gnex though, you may just contact me and I'll send you the last dev version, it is now alright. I myself have a GNex and now it's alright. It would take me about 2 weeks till I'll be able to update Market version, most likely - there are enough things to add.

[APP][WIP] ISeeYou

Hi guys! My name is Mirarchi and i'm an italian software developer that comes from Windows programming. Recently i bought a fantastic Galaxy Nexus and i started a project called "ISeeYou". This program recognizes your face while you seeing the phone keeping on the screen. When you don't look the phone, the screen will go off after a specified timeout. So this is similar to a popular app integrated in the new Galaxy S III.
Developed for device targeting Android SDK rel 9-14 (Android 2.3 and later)
No 3rd party libs. Uses only integrated system libraries(so it SHOULD work on every Android 2.3/4.0 based device).
Detectes the face, not the eyes(for now).
Customizable timeouts and app starts.
Requirements for using the app
Android 2.3 or later.
Front facing camera that detects your face. You can use the integrated Camera app to verify if the camera can detect your face (this app uses the same face detection system)
Known Issues
While using the app you can encounter the "Failed to connect to camera service" error. This is ok because you can't use the camera while the service is scanning your face. You can simply resolve by retrying to open the Camera app.
Cheers!
When the app detects your face, an "eye" icon will appear on the left side of the status bar such as a notification.
Enjoy the app and let me know the results.
Suggestions are also appreciated.
NOTE: UNISTALL ANY PREVIOUS VERSION OF THE APPLICATION OTHERWISE YOU CAN HAVE STRANGE ERRORS!
Edit 20120616: Upped a new version that should be compatible with devices other than the GNex. Now the app doesn't use constantly the camera, but now polls the camera every N seconds where N is a custom parameter. Also you can specify the maximum scan rate that is the maximum time that the camera is occuped by the ISeeYouService. In the next few days i will releasea FREE version with reduced features. Enjoy!!
Edit 20120617: Released the "free" version based on build 20120616. This version hasn't the 5 minutes limit, but there is no possibility to change settings. This will be available in the "PRO" version and i will sell it in the next few days. Stay tuned!
Edit 20120617-2: New version available! Added a persistent notify icon that links directly to the app. Now when the service is running, will show a "closed eye" icon. When the service detects your face, the eye will "blink" for a split second. Now the service runs in foreground mode. This will prevent undesidered closes of the app by the android system and should solve the FC issues. Cheers!!
Edit 20120617-3: Link for PRO version. Enjoy!!
Edit 20120621: v1.2 available for download on google play. Cheers!
Edit 20120630: v1.4 available for download! Added the exception list feature. With this mode you can "Blind" the i seeyouservice for certain applications. The keepOn button will let you to keep the screen on for exceptions apps. Also now you should be able to run the service on 2.3 devices. Enjoy!
Edit 20121021: v1.4.3 available for download! Enjoy and sorry for delay!
I look forward to this. What help do you need to get it out?
Thanks subvertz, for now no help is needed, but your attention is very appreciated! I only need to wait that google activates my developer account for distributing the app on play store.
Why don't you post the app in the xda developers for testing and people can provide you feedback on the same.
This way you will help the community n also gain some beta testers for your app.

Sorry dude, fc was my fault. Upping a version that corrects this bug.
For the "eye" icon it should appear when detects your face.
Firstly try with the default android camera application to find the optimal conditions (distance and lighting) to ensure that the device can recognize your face.
Wouldnt it waste the battery constantly checking for the face?
It would seem better to launch the service when the screen is going to time out, check for the face and if seen reset the timer

So is this just like SmartStay from Samsung's Galaxy S3?
You should look up the code for that app and see if you can get some ideas from that, I feel like that would be a better start point than coding from scratch.

[APP][FREE] SmartLock v1.4.6 (27-02-14)

Hello XDA members,
Problem:
I never liked a lockscreen i just want to turn my phone on and work with it. Thats why i created a app with taskers appfactory
Solution:
The app looks a few seconds with the proximity sensor if you turn on the screen, if something is close to the sensor the phone will relock itself.
You can edit the time of checking in the settings menu.
Why this thread:
I wanted to get feedback from you to resolve problems with it and make it work better to the needs of people.
A few questions:
- Is it simple to install?
- Does it work properly?
- Feature request
- What would you like to change?
- Do you like the app?
Requirements:
- Proximity sensor
How to install with help?
- Follow step 1 and step 2 in the app
How to install manually?
- Settings -> Security -> Device administrators -> check SmartLock
- Settings -> Security -> Lockscreen -> select "none"
How to uninstall:
- Settings -> Security -> Device administrators -> uncheck SmartLock
- Uninstall as usual
What means PocketLock?
- PocketLock is a different way of locking, it will lock your phone when your screen is ON and you put it in your pocket.
You can set the directions (left, right, down) when it will check in the settings menu
- Maybe you need to set the checktime a bit higher in the settings menu. because it takes time to get your phone in your pocket.
- Maybe eats more battery (dont know it for sure)
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. Why does SmartLock not lock my phone?
A.
- Did you enable SmartLock as Device administrator ( Settings -> security -> device administrator -> check SmartLock )
- Reset your settings in the Settings menu of SmartLock
Changelog:
See Play Store
Download:
- Play Store (Android 2.3+)
- Play Store (Android 4.0+)
AW: [APP] SmartLock - no lockscreen, proximitysensor as guard
Thanks!!
Will try now on Cm 10.1 & stock LSD and report back.
Edit: Works without Problems on Cm10.1 ! Your setup guide is very clear and easy to understand, awesome!
On stock LSD the 2nd step leads to "security settings" , but it should lead to "Lockscreen". This is not a real big problem but may confuse people.
All over this App is great, thank you very much!

The problem with the lockscreen is that every rom is different and the place of lockscreen disabling is not the same.
So this is one thing to fix

Hey!
Nice app mate. Thanks!
Really easy setup(fool proof) and working great!
Any chance of making it so it works WITH lockscreen enabled?
It's even a good idea to implement this in a ROM to avoid wrong button presses if you unlock in your pocket by mistake.
Cool!
Will test further...
Ive noticed settings are blacked out in some areas...is this normal?

PocketLock is a different way it locks your phone when screen is on and you put it in your pocket
In the settings menu you can select left, right or down. That are the conditions to check if its in your pocket.
It checks as long as you set checktime, so maybe you need a little bit more checktime for pocketlock. hehe
Hope this helps, if you think what is he talking about just say it
It can use some more battery because of movement tracking, just test it
EDIT:
Just created a Google Play developers account and i will release SmartLock in there i think tomorrow, just because i can
We will see
The easy thing is that everybody can stay up to date

- Added installation video
Re: [APP][BETA] SmartLock v1.2 (10-03-13) no lockscreen, proximitysensor as guard
Installed SmartLock v1.2 yesterday. I'm on Disaster v9 (JB 4.2.1). Simple installation and setup. Working without any problems including PocketLock. Will have to test longer to check if there is no battery drain, but so far all looks ok.
Must say that it is really great idea and app. Until I used it I did not know how convenient and comfortable usage of my phone might be without haveing to unlock it every time. It would be great if this app could be built into rom as one of the lockscreen options.
I have noticed one issue only, nothing major - vibration time on lock sometimes is shorter then set. Lookes like it happens only when I unlock phone for few seconds and put it back into pocket.
As for app menu it is ok, I would love it more if it looked like standard android JB settings menu.
Thanks a lot for your time, effort and the app.

Dear Pidu,
Thank you for your feedback and really nice to hear you like it
There should be no excessive battery drain with only SmartLock on, PocketLock can use some extra juice from your battery because of the motion sensor being used while screen is on.
I will check if i can reproduce you issue with the vibrate time
The layout of the app is a bit difficult because its made with tasker and not programmed in Java
Maybe a further release will be programmed so stay tuned.
I would like if you give feedback via play store so that other users can read it there.
Thanks
Re: [APP][BETA] SmartLock v1.2 (10-03-13) no lockscreen, proximitysensor as guard
This afternoon my daughter found big issue with PocketLock. From time to time she is using my phone to play games when travelling. Unfo PocketLock Left and Right turn screen off every time she is holding the phone horizontally while playing. Proximity sensor detects her finger and motion sensor - constant movement. Had to disable both options.
I did not notice extensive battery drain caused by PocketLock.
Will test the app few more days and then give feedback on Google Play.

As written above I have disabled left and right options of PocketLock. Still few times phone locked when my daughter was playing and motion sensor detected downwards movement - kid simply shakes phone in different directions
It might be hard to keep PocketLock active and avoid locking in certain situations but I would prefere to avoid having to switch it off and then on manualy. Personally I find PocketLock down most useful, so it is still fine for me, but it depends on individual preferences of the user.

Iam busy with a sketch which can have a notification in your statusbar with the status of SmartLock / PocketLock
You can enable the notification in the settings menu to stay forever or just come up when phone is left or right.
Normally if you click on the notification the settings menu will come up, but you can enable the option
to disable PocketLock if you click on it.
What is your first impression of that?
Think will release it today on the forum

4.4.2 Review and Recommended Apps+Mods+Wallpapers+Guides(UPDATED On 6/20/14)

Perfomance
Using My phone with 4.4.2 for about 2 days,I must say the overall smoothness and fluidity as compared to 4.1.2 has been greatly improved. Stability of the system has been increased, no lag at all.. as far as the benchmarks goes, I have been getting low scores as compared to 4.1.2(samples in attachments)
Battery
You can say that Battery timing has been improved in kitkat, I managed to get almost 4 and a half hour of screen on time whereas on jellybean I usually got maximum 4 hours with the same usage(samples in attachments)
I think that the Camera has also improved..
One more thing Battery Gets charged quickly as compaed to 4.1 with same charger..
I have not yet rooted my phone or installed any thing to save battery and during testing ECO mode was not enabled.

Well more than knock off i was interested in having knock on feature to turn the screen on...because it's a pain to turn the screen on every time by pressing the power button which is oddly located and i am wary of it breaking it sometime due to the constant use...

I have not yet rooted my phone or installed any thing to save battery and during testing ECO mode was not enabled

From here you can turn of thermal throttling by turning on Thermal Daemon Property OFF and High Temperature Property OFF and get higher antutu scores. I just got 21400

Nice! Can you give some screenshots?
Only dark mode? Look at this original port it has both lite and dark mode and all animations. But i prefer version that you posted here. because it's doesn't decrease the performance. This is perfect if you Make it in light mode.

Yeah, Linuxct did a fantastic job !
The wallpapers were designed to work with flagship devices, not budget ones though.
Performance & battery drain occurs even after animation is due to to constant checking for system status ( Day/night mode ).
Duplex codes render heavy toll on background resources (Ram).
Anyways, I can make a separate day version with added animations if you guys want it.
Cheers.

Yes please. Make separate day version without adding extra animation. Just like this version. Because this wallpaper is too dark. :fingers-crossed:

I saw that the app detects whether my phone is running light mode or dark mode and adjusts home screen accordingly. I love the live wallpaper when on light mode but I don't like light mode at Al and I prefer the dark mode. But I don't like the way the app works in dark mode.
Any solutions?
And if you make one, can you please make it in full resolution? It's too blurry. My device is flagship so I don't have performance issues. Please sir. Please make the app
