Unable to install Google Play on Matepad (BAH3-L09) - Huawei MatePad Pro Questions & Answers

Hi. My Matepad is BAH3-L09 and I was not able to install Google Play on it as I keep receiving "LZPlay not support" in Chinese language. I tried several top instructions on YouTube, but none works. Anyone managed to install it on your Matepad?

Same Problem here, BAH3-W09

fonetech just posted a new video. maybe it can help you guys?

Unfortunately the lila g app itself doesn't work on the Matepad 10.4 version.
So no luck with those "install on every device" videos.
Seems to be the same with the P40 Lite 5G model
Here is a screenshot of the error:

Unfortunately we are not talking about the "May Backup App Error".
I tried that already.
Please take a look at the pictures added to this post.
First one is our problem, the second picture the may error.

I hope so, too.
Don't know yet, why it is not supported.
At the moment you can't really find anything about it on the internet.
I've got Gapps installed on my P40 Pro. For a mobile phone, I think it is required.
On the tablet however, i think its more a nice to have than really necessary.
Furthermore, I wrote to Amazon Video, Netflix and Disney+ support and all of them said that "they are working on it"
So fingers crossed that HQ Streaming of those services will be available.
Although Disney+ does Stream in 1080p without Widvine L1.
Edit: Found an article about the problem. https://www.justandroid.net/2020/07...ernative-solutions-also-affects-matepad-10-4/

I'm having the same issue installing on Matepad 10.4 WiFi (BAH3 W09). No method works, LZplay (G icon app) always gives the error button on opening and cant go any further. Tried replacing 'backup' app exactly as directed in a couple of videos, no luck.
Anyone got Google 7&Play to install on this model?

Looking into this I would guess Huawei have removed the 'stubs' in the system firmware that allowed the LZplay app to work in the first place (and allowed it to install the required stuff as system apps). If newer devices are being rolled out without those 'stubs' then we are out of luck as far any LZplay method goes.

I don't really know what the function of the "stubs" file is, but if it is removed, is it possible to add it back and then install LZPlay?

Actually, it isn't 'stubs', I got that wrong. It's an undocumented API that existed in the firmware/ROM that allows LZplay to install the google stuff as system apps (and they need that to work). If they have removed that API from affected models, and it looks like many new ones might be in the same boat going forward, then I cant see any way of a user restoring it.
If that is the case then the only way to get GMS/Play etc will be a new non LZPlay method (that seems unlikely given the system access required) or if the ban gets lifted and Huawei add it back in future firmware updates (not sure how likely that would be either). A shame, as this is a very nice tablet otherwise.
Another thing to note is this doesn't have a gyroscope either, though the spec sheets wrongly say it does.
I've only just got my Matepad 10.4 from the Huawei UK store, so I'm seriously thinking of sending it back in the 14 day window. I could live without GMS/Play, but it is annoying.

Just one workaround - you can install VMOS virtual machine. It is not perfect - they have just Android 5.1 and 7.1 images and of course you have to start the application, but it works.
Between the AppGallery and the VMOS I have all I need. And the Trump's stupid trade war just allowed me to get the top tablet cheaper than Huawei would sell it otherwise. Every cloud has a silver lining.

And one more solution - HiSuite enables (as of today, not sure for how long) to downgrade firmware. And LZPlay works on the older firmware.
Of cause - the downgrade will delete all data on the tablet.

Ive no problem erasing everything, but are you sure it will work on an older firmware? Do you have a link to that info at all?
Pretty sure the firmware mine came loaded with ended with 115. LZPlay didn't work with that and I have let it update since then to the latest version. I think the first version made for this tablet ended in 108 (can't see an earlier revision in a google search). I assume that's what the first models in early April would have shipped with. If LZPlay has never worked with this model though downgrading wont be any help.

It worked for my tablet which I bought a few days ago, but I now realize I have LTE version - so different model.
Still I guess the LZPlay problem may be similar. LZPlay does not fully work anywhere anymore. Even when it works, it fails to do its work on its own and has to be helped by manually installing things. I used https://youtu.be/pdgGkHEe7V4 .
My experience: After getting the tablet I updated it to the newest firmware and then tried to install GP. Bad luck. No device admin request from LZPlay, just small popup with two buttons in Chinese. I guess Huawei removed the API as written above. After downgrade through Hisuite (4.6GB download), LZPlay "worked" (it asked to be device admin and shown screen where it would have downloaded GP things if it had worked properly - though the downloads failed - I think that is normal). Then I went according to the describtion which was under the YouTube video. I had to redo installing of APKs twice (maybe I did not follow it perfectly first time) and I added Google account when starting Google Play Store (so not as described under that video), but it worked.
I was kind of confused by LZPlay for some time - the fact it fails to download etc is normal state of things. I guess it used to be one-click solution, but not any more. Still I guess that running it is essentiall to enable other steps to work.

I have the model MRX-AL09 with EMUI 10.0.1.177 - that is the downgraded version.
I was probably on 10.1.0.120 before - at least I think so, I did not write it down before downgrage

Ok, I’ll save the data and try to roll back the firmware.
Have you tried updating your tablet to the latest version after installing google services?

Rooting Mele M5 Android TV Box

So I am a complete noob when it comes to rooting Android. I have a Mele M5 tv box running Android 4.2.2 and Allwinner A20. Trying to root it using super one click and a couple others, but my PC will not see the tv box via the USB port. I understand I need an ADB driver, but cannot find one for this device. All I really want to do is to be able to install and run Google Play and install some apps. I'd really appreciate being pointed in the right direction to get this box rooted. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. To update the firmware, do I save it on an SD card, then boot with the SD card installed? Do I need to root the box before I install the new firmware? Thanks again!

Ignore my last post. I downloaded and unzipped the file and found all of the image files, utilities, and instructions for a successful firmware update. Just installed Hulu Plus from Google Play and watching reruns of Family Guy. I had emailed Mele a few times for the firmware update but never received a response. Working perfectly now, so thanks again! I did not run the apk to root the unit since it is doing all that I need so far. Is there any reason I should consider rooting this? Thanks again for your help.

Yeah, I've emailed them and got no reply...but I've contacted every single mele contact on the net and finally I managed to get a reply from one of them.
I bought a chinese version A100 dual core (technically an M3), it's kinda annoying if it doesn't come with play store and there's no where on the net you can get it, managed to root it, install gapps, removing bloatware and some mods to make it vanilla but it just doesn't feel right.
at least, we have it now
For root, I think it's already have the vulnerable recovery, so no need to do anything, just install the root apps and it's good to go if you need to.
PS.
If you have no reason to root then you don't have to. I need root for certain apps that requires it.
One more problem. Video playback is fine using the HDMI outputs. But when using the AV jacks on the back, the video locks up, and there is no sound. Have you seen this problem also? I did run the audio patch but that did not help.

Mele M5 internals
Hi guys,
I'm thinking to buy Mele M5, but as I hack on the kernel it should be frienly in this respect. Have you looked inside the case? Does it have UART connector? Can you maybe post some high resolution images of the board? Feel free to create a page on linux-sunxi wiki, similar to linux-sunxi . org/Mele_A1000
Thanks,
Arokux

I haven't had much time to work on it, but still have problems with video from the AV jacks. Not sure if there is a display setting that has to be changed. It is interesting that if I start a video using the HDMI output to a PC monitor, then switch to the AV jacks, then the video plays correctly. I was thinking of going back to the original firmware, but then I cannot use the Google Play Store.
What version do you have?

I just received my M3 box and it has V1.1.1. It's running on Android 4.2.2 and it does have the Google Play Store. (Oh, I notice it is "Build" 1.1.1 and firmware version v0.82.)
How can you go back to the original firmware?
Just as a tip. I don't know if it would work. Couldn't you use an app like Titanium Backup to make a backup of Google Play Store, go back to the original firmware, and then have Titanium Backup reinstall it?
Oh, and have you tried VGA out? Unfortunately, no matter what "display mode" I select, it only displays in 1280x720. I downloaded an app which displays the screen resolution and even after trying to change the screen resolution, the app always reports 1280x720. Since my monitor is 1280x1024, it makes the image look very distorted... Just wondering if you have any better luck. I guess I could always buy a new 16:9 monitor...

Depending on where you purchased your Mele box, it may have come with the English Language firmware that has Google Play already installed. Mine came with the original Chinese firmware which did not have Play. I installed Play on it, but it never worked.
VGA out? My box only has HDMI and AV outputs. I've used it on my Samsung 24 inch wide monitor (I assume it is 16:9) and it works great. The AV outputs work well also when using it for text based output or still images, but video locks up. Thinking it may be time to trade in that old picture tube TV for a new 40" flat screen with HDMI inputs. That will solve all of my problems.

Ack, sorry, you did say you have an M5 which comes without a VGA out. I have the M3 which I bought specifically for the VGA out, but so far, am OOL with being able to use it... I would assume that the firmware is still being supported since it is a recent update, perhaps you'd be able to get some assistance from Mele's forum? http://forum.mele.cn:81/viewforum.php?f=15

Well, my Mele M3/A100 dual core ended up in some type of boot loop. It never gets off of the green Android splash screen... So with nothing to lose, I loaded new firmware. Since the one on the Mele website is for the A31, I loaded this one... And success! It works again!
However, only works once... When I boot up the machine again, I see the small blue Android for about a second, then the green Android splash screen again and it never gets off of that screen.
I can reload the firmware again and it works again, but uh, I don't want to load new firmware every time I turn the device on... Any ideas what I can do? Maybe something did not get overwritten by the new firmware which is causing the problem?
Update: Duh... Start up mode is for booting from SD card...? Somehow I missed that. I was able to reload new firmware from Mele forum by using Product mode. Now have a working Mele box again. Also, it does come rooted, so by installing SuperSU from Play Store, I was able to get root access (although initially, it didn't recognize root, so not sure what I needed to do, but it's working now).
I have noticed though if I try to use an external SD card (for extra storage), if I leave the external SD card in the device, and then turn on, it doesn't boot up at all. Just a blank screen. Sigh... Seems to make using an SD card less usable when you only can insert it after the device is on...? Or is there something wrong in set up or SD card? (Yes, I reformatted the SD card...)

Google Play Store on SM-N9300 (Chinese version)

Is there a way to install the Google Play Store on a Chinese Note 7? Or some way to download the apps i've purchased from Google Play Store? I've tried going to the the Play Store site but my phone's not recognized since i can't add my Google account to the phone...
I read on a Chinese forum that people suggested loading the stock Hong Kong firmware for the Note 7 to get Google Play working and that it'd work fine on the Chinese model (and wouldn't break knox). Is this safe to do?
(and for reference, this is the page i was referring to: http://bbs.ngacn.cc/read.php?tid=9875562&pid=193800403&to=1)
I'm just speaking from experience on my China model of s6edge, flashing the HK firmware on that phone was definitely ok, I had no problems with the phone since going on the HK firmware. I haven't looked too deeply into the note 7 but you'll have to make sure the hardware is exactly the same, as well as the partition table of the two versions or you'll get an Odin fail.

Nope, there's no Google anything by default on the Chinese market phones, some sort of falling out between Google and China. You'll need to flash the Google framework yourself.

Yeah Chinese Android phones don't have Google Apps or anything on them because the Chinese government won't let them.

It used to be that all Google apps won't work in China, even gmail. But I think they loosened up the policy recently.
Thanks for the info, i'll try flashing it on there this evening. And a couple years back Google services were hit or miss, lately everything is blocked. Sites like this also have trouble loading because they use files hosted at googleapis.com (such as jquery), which are also blocked and a lot more annoying. So i've gotta use a VPN to view the site properly. It's not illegal, just inconvenient. My previous phone was a Chinese Vivo phone and i could install a package from the Vivo app store that installed the Google stuff for me (and use a VPN to access the Google Play Store). The Galaxy App Store is basically empty and doesn't have anything like that. I've tried installing the Google apps individually but it's still not working.
The Chinese and Hong Kong models are both "SM-N9300", i'm pretty sure the hardware is the same (and i know they also use the Snapdragon processor), is there any way i can check these things for sure?

Trial and error? The only thing I did was read up on the chinese forums for other people's success or failure stories. Once I saw numerous reports that they were successful, I felt more confident to do the same on my phone. Having an understanding of Odin and emergency restore also helps.
I just tried and my 电信 card doesn't work anymore. It's got Google Play though. Now i'm not sure which is better (assuming i can get the card to work), having the phone loaded with Google's stuff which doesn't work without a VPN or not having any of my purchased apps or easily download/update them but being able to actually use the phone... I might just switch back and wait for another method to pop up to enable Google Play on Chinese phones.

Neither work, i can't make phone calls or use data. I've got another card with a different company (China Unicom or China Mobile, i can never remember which) but it's too large to fit in the simcard slot, i'll see about getting it cut tomorrow and testing that.
Alternatively, i stumbled across this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-7/development/recovery-official-twrp-galaxy-note-7-t3458413
I might just try using that to root it and then installing something like Open GApps.
luck
Sorry, i don't understand what you're asking. Why would i want what? I just want to be able to access the apps i've purchased through the Play Store on my old phones with my new phone. The apps aren't even available to purchase in the app stores in China and Chinese app stores generally only keep Chinese apps (like QQ, WeChat, Taobao, Alipay, etc.) up to date. I could just find a free way to get them (easy enough in China), but it makes updating more of a pain.
Anyway, gonna revert it back tonight to the original firmware and try installing TWRP with Open GApps.
EDIT: i've flashed it tons of times now and just finished flashing the Chinese firmware back on (again). I tried installing Open GApps but it just crashed the phone. I rooted the phone but it refused to install any APKs for some reason, not sure what exactly i've done to cause that. I just reflashed it again and am going through setup now, hopefully it'll be fixed. I'm not sure if it's got something to do with TWRP complaining about being unable to mount /data. It's too late to check into that tonight though.
EDIT2: Everything's working fine now on the stock firmware again, gonna try rooting it again tomorrow and see if i can manually install the Google Play Store.

I'm having the same issue. I've tried manually downloading the play store, services framework, play services and google login apks. Tried installing manually through sideloading. Tried copying to /system/app. In all cases both the play services and google services frameworks crash constantly. The play store itself is a white screen, with VPN enabled (from China).
If this method isn't going to work, where can I find an HK firmware version?

Just to add, I have rooted with SU.
If you have a working Google Play (outside china), a VPN while within China should allow you to update the apps. Please note, Oculus Store is also not accessible.

Yes, however I cannot install any of the google apps on this device. All attempts, including using google installer apks, manual installs, flashing Gapps, ,etc, all result in crashing apps. It almost seems aggressive.
My latest attempt to flash Gapps results in "Unfortunately the setup wizard has stopped" endlessly, essentially bricking the phone. I cannot get to any screens unless using the multitasking icon, and even then homescreen etc are inaccessible.
Try installing the APKPure app. Its pretty much just like the playstore (For free apps). And lets you update etc. And it doesnt require root.

That's the same issue i had with Gapps. I could press the menu button to bring up a list of open apps and use those, but going to the main homescreen just repeatedly prompted me with the setup wizard stopping dialog.
Google apps works with the Hong Kong version (comes preinstalled) so you should be fine with that. I think i flashed N9300ZHU1APGI, but i think that's the oldest version. The newest seems to be N9300ZHU2BPI5. If it has ZHU in the middle, that's for Hong Kong. ZCU is for China (TGY is the region code for Hong Kong, if you see that). The issue i had with that is that then everything is Google Apps and thus blocked in China, maps in WeChat use Google Maps instead of Baidu Maps for example. If you don't care about that, then i suggest trying to flash a Hong Kong firmware. It worked for me.
EDIT: I also forgot to mention that at first i couldn't use my SIM card, but later i'm not sure what i did, i think i booted into Recovery mode or something, but after that it worked. I'm not sure what it did.

Note 10+ Disney plus not compatible?

So Disney plus launched today. I am on Verizon unlimited so I got a free 12 months. I went to install the app from the playstore and I got the 'Your device isn't compatible with this version' error. I'm on the latest ASJ8 build. Anyone else out there experience this? The only thing I can think of is maybe because I am on the beta google play services? I tried sideloading the apk also but it won't install. I can still go through the website so it isn't a huge deal right now but would like the app to work.
I found an apk that would sideload on my phone so got it installed anyways. Still don't know why its showing as not compatible in play store.
Yea same here cant download the app. Could be a mishap on their end. Doesnt surprise.
Interesting, it installed on mine
Installed on mine. Sprint Note 10+
I installed disney+ app from playstore.
T-Mobile
Installed from the playstore just fine for me as well (Verizon).

Same. Had no problem installing on mine. I've seen this all over the place today, though...not sure why it's not working for all of us unless it's a region thing.

The one I downloaded was from apkpure.com and downloaded whatever the latest version was at the time. I also had to download the pure apk installer on their website because their files are in .xapk format. Installed from there with no issues. You can uninstall the pure apk installer program after you are done.
My problem seems to have fixed itself as originally after I installed if I pulled up disney+ in the playstore it would still tell me it wasn't compatible. There error is gone now and the app updated through the playstore. So a glitch on disney or googles end seems like the culprit as I haven't changed anything else.
Hopefully the file from there will work for you if you haven't tried already.
I had the same problem on my S10+, but that was because I was on the OneUI 2.0 beta, which fails the SafetyNet check for DRM. Sideloading the APK from Apkpure worked like a charm, and then I ended up going to the Note 10+, which I had no issues installing from the Play Store on that device.
I can't download the file from apkpure. No result found

How to install EMUI 10 for the JSN-AL00 with GMS working

So, if you have a Honor JSN-AL00 or a JSN-AL00a then you should've came across a problem were you were stuck on EMUI 8.2 and isn't able to upgrade your software and today I have found a solution for this irritating problem, First you should head to the settings on EMUI 8.2, then head to Applications, then you will find Three dot icon next navigate through then click Show System Processes, After that type Google in the search and uninstall anything that has google in it's name, then restart your phone and check for Software updates and you should receive the updates.
Keep updating your device until you reach to EMUI 9.1.0.215 then stop updating the device then follow the Video while being on EMUI 9.1.0.215
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bm1FggPu-Zs
Then after you have got the GMS apps working fine on EMUI 9.1, you can continue the updates until you reach to EMUI 10.
PS: I have tried this method myself and it works flawlessly, so make sure you follow each step mentioned above and if you face any problems during the process, make sure to reply down and I'll reply to you.
Confirmed! Bravo Maestro!!! THX!
I am sorry I didn't understand. How did you get to the screen where you can see system processes?

Hi, I managed to do it. Thank you very much everybody. This is working!
Thanks, I got GMS working with EMUI 9.1 with your guide, and am (slowly) updating to EMUI 10. It's important to that you stop at 9.1.0.215 before installing GMS, a casual search online shows that the method may fail for 9.1.0.219+

Hello, I'm common but I have a little knowledge, and I need to save my honor 8x China (JSN-AL00a) that only appears in the edl testpoint, this I say because it appears in the Windows 10 device manager as (HUAWEI USB COM 1.0 ), I don't have a dongle at all, I would like to know if I could fix it, is there any software that can do for edl point without dongle? Honor 8x kirin 710. thaks
Confirmed it is working on my Honor 8x Jsn-al00. I followed the instructions and updated until 9.1.0.215 then followed the Hisuite section of the installation. Can anyone confirm if it is safe to update normally from 9.1.0.215 to newer builds? Will gms still function?
It Works man, thanks a lot. I had waiting for that a long long time. Thanks...:good::good::good:
Hi guys,
I have got a Honor 8x Jsn-al00a running EMUI10 and want to roll it back to 9.1.0.215 to get google apps installed but my hisuite shows only the 9.1.0.219 version.
How did you manage to get it available?
Does anyone have a back up to be used as restore image ?
Thanks

Question Android 13: APKs not from PlayStore now crashes at the opening

Hi
I was on Android 12 and signed in to the beta program 10 days ago.
I've noticed that APKs that were fine on Android 12 are not working anymore on Android 13 Beta.
APKs are crashing at opening.
I thought that may have been an issue related to the beta version of Android but couple of days ago Android 13 stable rolled out (I've signed out from the beta) but those apps are still not working.
I've found older APKs for a couple of apps and one works and one not.
How can I solve this without a factory reset?
Thank you in advance
What are the apps that are crashing? What does a logcat show when the app crashes?
Google introduced restrictions in A13 for side loaded apps. No longer can they use accessibility apis nor can they access notifications etc. Just speculation but if the apps you are using are old they may be crashing because of these changes.

You can bypass those restrictions by going to the app info page of the app and clicking on the 3 dot menu in top right corner.

I don't have any issues with manually installed apks...
Hi, i have the same Problem with every sideloaded App.
There are no 3 dots in the right Corner.
I don't know exactly how to bypass Them
Waiting till the weekend to update, but what APKs are giving the error?

Do those apps need Accessibility and/or Notification Access permissions? If not, then I don't think the 3 dot menu needs to be there as it is only for those specific permissions (or whatever other permissions Google might add to the list in the future).
For example, I have Adaway installed but it doesn't have the 3 dot menu because it doesn't need either of those permissions. The same for App Manager.
I am really confused with this new "session-based install" security.
What are "session-based install" and "non-session-based install"
Play store app install --------- surly "session-based install" 100%.
3rd-party store install --------- is said also to be "session-based install".
Firefox download an apk --------- is said to be "non-session-based install",
But how the firefox different from a 3rd-party store????? a system white list something?
safetynet, selinux, forcing many settings, anti-rollback, non-store app restrictions.........
I enjoyed so much that google throws sht tons of troubles to billions of advanced users, to fight an enemy that may not even exist.
(how many people have their phone bootloader secretly unlocked remotely by a hacker and installed root malware, unknowingly?)
Gives a warning is good eg. bootloader locked warning is great IMO. But force the hands and keep finding ways to screw the advanced users as hard as they can, to get the "everything is under my control" status is the wrong path.
I read the news that malware devs have already found a way to bypass this restriction.
In the end, like many others, It achieved nothing, except giving trouble to advanced users and devs.
A global bypass must be also on the way, especially from China. Millions like 90% of APPs are not store-based in China since the google ban, and people are used to download apk from every companies' websites as we do on Windows PC.

3 APKs from the company I'm working for (not on PlayStore) 2 sideloaded apps, and a LADB signed sideloaded APK
For example you cut and CC cleaner keeps crashing all the time.
Same here. Almost every app not from Play Store keeps closing right on tap to start them.
Tried to sideload them per USB with full rights. Same.
My company apps that didn't come from the play store are opening without a problem
Thats Vers Strange, indeed.
Every sideloaded App, modded or Not does Not work
Thought it was me...this is bs!
What's the next step...start posting logs I assume?
It's not EVERY sideload for me but about 1 in 3 I'd say.
btw...I got an 'install failed' trying to install/flash the viper4android mod not realizing how old it was...now I'm seeing lotsa audio/sound related crap in logcat reader. If I AM 'currupt' somehow, will just a rom re-flash fix a magisk issue or do I need a full wipe?
Tia for any guidance offered!

12 won't work right on the 13 bootloader, and you can't downgrade the bootloader.
When I initially tested flashing only the 13 bootloader on my Pixel 6 Pro, while still running Android 12, it booted fine, I unlocked the phone, and all looked normal. But I didn't launch apps, especially Chrome, YouTube, and plenty of other things. If I had, I would have noticed problems that others have had since then. It was since found that certain/many kinds of apps will not work right running on Android 12 when you have the 13 bootloader installed.
I know this above is not what this thread is discussing, but since you mentioned it, I just wanted to point out that if you're on any Pixel 6/Pro/a with Android 13's bootloader flashed, you won't be able to use stock Android 12 on it. You'll be able to flash everything but the bootloader, boot it up, and unlock it, but before long you would discover problems that you wouldn't be able to work around and would effectively make your phone unuseable for many things that we take for granted.
By the way, hopefully you have the 13 bootloader flashed to both slots. Having the 13 bootloader on only one slot is a little dangerous.
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot --slot all flash bootloader bootloader.img
