This came in the mail a while ago and thought I'd share a small review and open a thread for discussion.
Let's start with some basic specs:
CPU: Celeron N4100 @ 1.1Ghz
RAM: 6GB
Storage: 128GB onboard flash
Quite boring I know, but it seems pretty adequate for a small form factor 2 in 1 tablet. There is no point in running bechmarks in this kind of hardware, but surprisingly it is quite snappy on daily use. I've had no problem doing photo editing work on the device with Adobe's usual suspects. I expected Photoshop to be fast, but not Lightroom ( that one tends to struggle a bit in a big library, no matter the hardware), it was a pleasant surprise to see it working fine. Daily coding/writing/web browsing is a breeze with the addon keyboard and the battery while I could not find the specs on it, it seems to last a good 3 hours of heavy use with brightness set high.
Things worthy of mention on this device:
Trackpad really doesn't like water or sweat
Big battery + all aluminum construction= a top heavy device when in laptop mode. Also a giant heatsink, which is good
Cameras: both are decent enough for video calls, but nothing else. specially in low light conditions
Speakers: yes.
There's pen support and the Hi3 pen from the same guys is actually quite good
Touchscreen IPS Panel: Impressive colors and touch seems very good. Way too glossy for any outdoor work in bright sunlight
Limited range on wifi reception: It pretty much requires a direct line of sight with the AP or it will probably drop out, if connect at all. No speed issues. Probably related to the all aluminum construction and the antenna placement
Build quality: very good. Device feels solid and nice to use. Some corners are a bit sharp on the keyboard though.. not sharp enough to cut, but to irritate you while typing. I suppose some sandpaper can fix that quite easily
Some final thoughts: Very surprised with the performance/price index on this one and the size and packaging makes it perfect for a small walkaround laptop that you don't need to be too powerful or too expensive. The display stands out for me, as the color accuracy is pretty high and while vivid, not oversaturated. I'd like it to be a little lighter in total, but it's not a complete burden to carry. The charger situation is a bit weird as well, since it's using a 12v 2amp psu on a usb c hole, so you can't just plug it in any charger. I mean you can, but it will probably not work as intended. The two USB A ports on the keyboard dock albeit usb-2.0 they have been a lifesaver, since the device itself only has usb c ports.
Oh and I almost forgot. Windows 10 tablet mode is.. not good. It's certainly improved, but ux is horrible and inconsistent when you have to switch between tablet friendly apps and actual software you have to use. Most atrocious example is when trying to use Chrome with the touch keyboard. You tap on the location bar and the keyboard pops up. in full screen. and no, you can't see what you're typing. Thanks Microsoft!
On a more serious note: Cheap, solid build, x86 based small form factor 2 in 1 tablet with more than decent performance
Oh, did I mention the BIOS is quite open to config?
Maybe I'll try formatting and throwing linux at it. We'll see

Hi, did you try to install linux or Android x86? Thank you

does it have the necessary hardware requirements for windows 11?

Yes it does meet windows 11 requirements.

Hi!
I'm testing Zorin from a live USB in this device (mine with Intel Celeron N4120 CPU) and the screen rotation works in the other way around, when I put the tablet horizontally, the image is vertical and upside down. Also the resolution looks very small and all available resolutions look even smaller. I do not decide to install it because of what I comment.
I have searched about this without finding anything. Can someone help me to make it work 100% with linux?
Thank you!

My thoughts on the Galaxy Nexus

Hello. Thought I'd add my thoughts into the mix, kind of a mini-review but not very well written and missing lots of things.
The hardware is awesome. The screen really is amazing, and in particular I like the way that it displays blacks so well. Because of this you usually can't see the edges of the screen and it looks fantastic, and coupled with the lack of hardware buttons the front of the phone is really sexy. The back on the other hand isn't as impressive, but it's ok. The "hyperskin" is more hyperbole, and doesn't really help you grip the phone much. Overall it's quite slippy really and I do feel I'll probably end up dropping it sooner or later.
The processor seems to handle everything fine and keep everything running smoothly. GPU I haven't really tested with any 3d games so can't comment on that. Battery life I've found much better than I expected, although I haven't done extensive testing on this. Here are the current battery stats, 18 1/2 hours with about 13% left:

I haven't really tried out the camera yet so can't comment on that. Call quality is good. Oh and size, I find it a bit awkward sometimes to pull the notification bar down or to hit the back button in the top left of the screen, ie. in the market app but overall I find the size to be good (I have quite small hands). The light weight and thinness kind of make up for the large size.
In terms of software it's as you'd probably expect - awesome. Face unlock doesn't work well in low-light which is kind of annoying. I'm not sure if I'll keep using it but I like it as on my old phone I only used swipe-to-unlock, so it's a bit more secure with this. I'm not exactly worried about someone taking a picture of me and then robbing me anyway.
The hardware acceleration makes a huge difference. The UI is nice and fluid and it's just really enjoyable to use. There is also an option to force hardware acceleration for apps as well which makes a big difference too. For example Twitter was a bit jerky and laggy before enabling it, yet with it on it's perfectly smooth and fluid. The News and Weather widget however doesn't seem to be accelerated; it's really jerky and slow.
Auto-brightness is something that needs tweaking I think. It's often too low (to save battery no doubt), and needs to be raised a little. On top of that sometimes it doesn't even seem to work properly. Earlier on I was looking at it and thinking how it's too dark and then it suddenly jumped up to a decent level of brightness, even with no change in the ambient lighting. I've seen this a few times so I think maybe it's a bug which needs to be ironed out.
The people app is really brilliant, and the G+ integration is really great (if only more of my friends used it..). The swiping thing they've got going on now in various apps is really good and hopefully we'll see more of it in the future. The dialler app is nice, but I am disappointed that you still can't start typing the letters of your friend's name to bring them up like you can on HTC phones.
That's everything I can think of for now, but overall I love the Galaxy Nexus

Bluetooth Thermal Imaging addon Prototype

Hi everyone!
I've had some time to play around with the Prototype of the BT Thermal Imaging Addon for Android phones.
The Hardware and Software was designed by XDA Member "Mardaso", you can read about the begiinigs of the project in this thread.
Mardaso kindly sent me a prototype and allowed me access to the latest beta app for testing purposes.
I will attempt to show you what this device can do.
First some facts:
The Far Infrared Sensor built into this device is a Melexis MLX90620 16x4 Pixel Thermopile Array. It is a low resolution and low cost sensor. Despite the low resolution it is actually quite useful, 64 FIR Pixels can show up leaks around Windows and doors, find cold and hot spots and let you find your dog in the dark, especially in winter when the warm-blooded creature shines like a beacon...
A Model with two Sensors, doubling the resolution and giving you and aspect ratio of 16:8, is possible and might be available in the future. a trial run with a dual-sensor setup was succesful.
The device is currently powered by 3 AAA batteries, but newer prototypes work with 2 AAA batteries, making the unit smaller and lighter. The current revision uses BT 2.1, but the final device will be dual-mode BT with 4.0 support for future proofing and iPhone compatibility.
The Android App is currently pretty basic, offering Camera Overlay, framerates from 1-8Hz, Automatic or manual Temperature scales, Ironbow or RGB Color display and Screenshot capability.
I tested this with my Galaxy Nexus running Android 4.2.2 and it works quite well, a few bugs are still there, but they should be mostly solved by
the time this hits Google Play
So, let's look at some pictures:

}
This is the current Prototype device, it's size and shape are far from final. The black thing next to it is the pouch for my Nexus. I attached the Sensor to my Nexus with a piece of Pugoo pad, this works really well.
This is my dog in TI vision. The resolution is no good enough for details. but still quite impressive for such a low-priced sensor.
This shows the real usefulness. You can clearly see how much warmth is radiated out through the old, double glazed wooden windows. The Yellow area does not quite match the windows area, this is due to the fact, that the sensor is not perfectly aligned with the Nexus camera. This should improve in newer revisions of the sensor and app.
This is a new and well insulated house, plastic windows with triple glazing. Windows, door and wall are mostly the same temperature.
Here you can see, that deven in a well insulated house there are warm and cold spots. This is the same door you saw above, but from the inside. To make the temperature differences visible I had to set the max and min temperatures by hand. Difference from warmest to coldest spot are minimal.
Last image for today: My dog at night with thermal overlay.
OK, this is just a start and a first impression. I'm planning to do more pictures, for example of the inside of my PC.
If you've got special wishes or questions, just ask and I'll try to answer.
Thanks for reading, I look forward to hearing your opinions and suggestions!
UPDATE:
I finally had some time to do a few more tests.
This shows that the CPU cooler is a lot...cooler than the VC chips next to the CPU socket.
This shot shows the GPU producing plenty of heat despite being idle
The "traditional" HDD gets a bit warm while the SSD keeps it's cool (hard to see on the picture, I know)
The temperature stays a lot cooler than the GPU and the VCs though...
And last but not least, here you can see that the case fan does it's job and blows the hot air out of the back of the case.
I hope you liked this little preview-review. Sadly there have been no responses so far, if anyone has questions, don't be shy to ask...
Thanks for the update!
See you having fun with the sensor.
Good work! I am currently trying to program my own interface with the MLX90620 but the 16Hz output doesn't look as good as yours - in fact, it's very noisy. Did you do some filtering or use a lower refresh-rate?
Also, how did you get the higher resolution? Interpolation?
@chnaideur:
I use 4Hz as a standard and 8Hz as a maximum at the moment.
The data is "noisy" because of the small temperature changes the sensor can detect.
In the last Android software I use a threshold between 0.5 to 1 degree Celsius to get a better picture.
Thus to filter out the noise.
The higher resolution is achieved by interpolation.
I remember following this project a ways back. Glad its came to fruition. Keep up the great work guys. Very interested in this.....STILL

Hi,
why don't you send a PM to mardaso, he has built several versions and is selling them in Europe. Last I heard he was working on a USB-OTG Version.
If you live in the US you could get one of the "IR-Blue" devices that were up on Kickstarter. They are made for iOS Devices, but there is a free app by mardaso on the Playstore that should work fine with them.

HTM M3 Mi3 1.3 Ghz MTK6572 5inch 3G/DUAL SIM - XIAOMI Mi3 clone?

HTM M3 Mi3 1.3 Ghz MTK6572 5inch 3G/DUAL SIM - XIAOMI Mi3 clone?
I have used this phone for about 1 week now as my main phone. So far it has run good and been reliable. What I have liked about it has been the compact size, the fact that it is pretty thin, have a big screen and a sleek but simple design. The screen is not HD, but still the screen has vivid colors and is pretty sharp. Google apps and Youtube runs fine and smooth on this device.
Some may think HTM, wtf? but actually the phones does the job good. The build quality and materials are also better than seen on many other cheap China phones. So I was surprised about the phone. The weak spots in the phone is the camera and the fact that it is not good for heavy 3D games. Smaller games runs okay, and especially the backspeaker have great pure sound.
The main reason to get the HTM M3 is the design and because it has good quality for the very low price you give for it.
Here are some HI-RES pictures of the phone:

Antutu score:
10800 (phone was not made for gaming, still it does all basic things good enough)
Issues
None so far, wifi signal can be a bit weak, but is still fast!
Hacks
Can be rooted easily with Framaroot 1 click tool
Pros & Cons
- Very nice design, a really good imitation with a 5" screen
- The materials are in a good quality, even if the back cover is just plastic
- Very precise shapes and cutouts, unlike some other cheap models
- Good screen with vivid colors
- Touchscreen is pretty responsive, 1 click is normally enough
- The 3 touchbuttons on the front have white clear backlight
- The volume rocker and power button is located on the same side of the phone
- UI and the phone overall is fast, only a few hiccups
- The soundquality in both the earphone and backspeaker is great and loud
- Youtube runs perfect and smooth
- Supports SD cards & Dual SIM
- Super good price, and you get a lot of extra accessories also
- Has a good weight in the hand
- Viewing angle could be a little bit better, but I am not complaining
- The WiFi is fast, but it doesnt always show full signal
- The battery is only avarage even though it should be 2600 mah, but luckily there are 2 included
- The camera is also only avarage, and only usable for fun pictures
- The phone only has a half GB RAM, not enough for the bigger games, on the other side, why would u play big games on this phone?
- The storage could be bigger, but it also support SD cards
- No Gorilla glass, but you cant really expect that from a 84 USD phone, still the screen doesnt scratch easily
Looks nice.
Would probably buy it, if it had more of a dev community and/or cyanogenmod support.

Unboxing
Unlike some other non-smart equivalents, this one doesn't include any extra accessory in the box, containing: 1x 12V Power Adapter, 1x User Manual and the device itself. That's it! No dispenser or cleaning tool is included.
The build quality is decent, but not superb. Being 100% made of plastic, at least for the chassis, it can't fell premium of course, but this is normal for this kind of products. Something not normal is the way all plastic parts are cut, definitely not as good as i would have expected.
Starting from the front side, there are five buttons used to configure and manage the device. I like that the manufacturer left all manual controls even if this is a Smart Device. As you can notice, there are also lots of LEDs that indicate the current status, timer, power and mode.
On the back there is only the power connector, while on the lower side there is a small fan and lots of holes for heat dissipation.
As regards the transparent parts over the buttons and on the top side, this is where the RGB LED light do the "magic". First of all, the brightness isn't super-high, thus i had to take a photo with no in-room light. I know, the photo is noisy, but i had no other ways to let you see it.
Usage
Being a Smart Home device, it requires a dedicated app to manage all controls. The app is called "Oittm Smart", at least on the Play Store, and works perfect, with Amazon Alexa and Google Home compatibility. Unfortunately both services are not available yet in Italy so i won't be able to test them.
The app is well-made, with no noticeable issues neither translation errors, and there are lots of features. Of course it isn't made only for this humdifier, but for the whole Oittm eco-system.
It is possible to add scenes linked to the WiFi connection and so on, everything synced online.
Here a video where i show all the real-time changes using the app. It is vertical because, unfortunately, the app doesn't support landscape mode.
Conclusions
Some of my followers know that i am gradually making my, or better my parents's, home smarter and smarter day by day, and this is only the beginning.
This smart humidifier, or "aroma essential oil diffuser" as they call it (dammit soo many words), does his main job brillantly, and the smart management works perfect thanks to a well-developed application. It doesn't mean that it is perfect though, since build quality isn't superb, and LED brightness can't be adjusted.
So, do i recommend it? Yes, it is a valid smart home device.
Pros:
- Well-Developed App
- Google Home and Amazon Alexa compatible
- Easy to configure and manage
Cons:
- Fixed LED Brightness
- Mediocre Build Quality
Rating: 8.6

Another smart home stuff
Now the industry of a smart house is developing by leaps and bounds. Especially with Amazon.
Amazon recently published the news that they are developing a smart AR mirror. In addition to displaying weather, time, web search, etc. Its main function will be that it will show in real time how one or another outfit will look at you, taking into account the physics of the fabric and the movements of the operator's body.
P.S. The oil diffuser is useful thing)

Unboxing
Just like all Koogeek products, also this one comes with no accessories: 4x AA Alkaline Batteries, 1x User Manual, 1x Quality Certificate, 1x Warranty Certificate and the product itself.
Similar to most high-quality scales, this one features a solid build required to handle the weight (up to 150kg declared) and they declare to be using a tempered glass for the surface, something i can't confirm unfortunately because i managed to scratch and leave marks on it pretty easily (slightly visible in the photo). The plastic used for the corners and for the whole chassis is as good as it should and with a nice silver painting.
The upper surface hides all sensors and most important, the display. It is pretty bright and sharp, with all indicators for Bluetooth and WiFi connections.
Here you can see the display. (the camera struggles to focus properly on it)
On the lower side there is the slot for all batteries where a reset button is also located, and there is a useful QR Code to download the app easily.
Usage
Just like the other Blood Pressure Monitor, also with this one there are three ways to handle the scale:
1) Without BT/WiFi (but it would not make any sense).
2) Using BT that trasmits data to the Koogeek App in real-time.
3) Using WiFi that transmits data to the Koogeek Server in order to sync everything even without having access to the app or smartphone.
Thanks to the Koogeek Ecosystem, it is possible to use a single-app for all Smart Health devices, and the app is well-made, available on the Play Store and also constantly updated for bug-fixes.
The dashboard is complete with all info about each result, and each one provides an high amount of details since this scale supports 8 different measurements: Weight (well...of course), BMI, Body Fat, Lean Mass, Body Water, Bone Mass, Visceral Fat and BMR.
In order to use all features it is required to connect the device and register for an account where all data such as Height, Birth Date and so on must be added. Different users can be added for multi-user usage.
Google Fit is also supported, useful for those who prefer to keep everything synced in the same app, and, finally, notifications have been implemented so that a new result gets notified instantly.
It is also possible, for those who have a child, to measure the child's weight using the specific feature.
Conclusions
Koogeek products keep impressing me for the ecosystem, well made with a decent app available, even though the build quality is not as good as i would have expected compared to the premium Smart Blood Pressure Monitor i have tested before.
As already said, i am getting into this Smart Health/Home world, and i am really appreciating the way all these devices are getting better and better, and also more accessible to everyone. Something about battery life will be added as soon as the included batteries gets discharged.
So, do i recommend it? Yes, unless you are already part of another ecosystem from another brand.
Pros:
- Solid with a great design
- Dual Connection BT/WiFi
- Well-Made Smart Health app
Cons:
- Easy to scratch surface
- Lack of premium touch-and-feel
Rating: 8.3
Packaging and Accessories: 7
Design and Materials: 8.5
Usage: 9.5
Price: 8 (based on Amazon price)
