During installation finding the device in recovery mode takes some time. Use the "Try again" button frequently until it is found by the UBports Installer.
Under active investigation: Sometimes the device loses data signal without indication. In this case the device needs a reboot.
Even though GPS should work it might take a long time to get a GPS fix on location requests.
Bluetooth calls miss working microphone routing.
WIFI usage drains the battery.

Hi, not sure if this is the right place to get support, but I didn't see any other place linked for support.
I am wondering if Visible (Verizon MVNO) should be working with this? I cannot get it to work with my pixel.
Also, I tried the update commands, but when I rebooted directly after running the commands I couldn't boot.
Thanks!

Hows the development going on this? I'm a linux only use. Ubuntu 20.04 | OpenboxWM as my daily driver & Various Security Distros (info sec professionally). I've been extremely interested to see this project when it comes to fruition. Also can you leave a link to a community site? I'd love to get involved with the project.

if we can run ubuntu, we can run any debian here?

My pixel 3a will not boot this. I have tried several times and I even still have the rootfs.img and android.img still in my data partition but it won't boot it just goes to the Google splash and stays
Also fastboot format:ext4 userdata gives me an error

News flash: the Google Pixel 3a is now part of the official UBports installer!
The instructions have been updated and should be easier to follow now, please give it a try again!
@nylar357 what are you interested in? I can link you to the right people, or find out yourself here: https://ubports.com/en/join-us

I've been trying to install Ubuntu touch to my pixel 3a now for days and no progress. The installer gets stuck at preparing system image and will run for hours. Also tried using the gsi installer with no luck. I've followed instructions to a t

My 3a hasn’t arrived yet, but I had a similar problem with my N6P. I had to make sure to FORMAT data, not just WIPE before install. Hope this helps.

I had to change the APN field in "4G LTE Contract" to 'vzwinternet' and that got data working, but when I try to do the same for the APN field in "MMS" it's not saving what I enter.

Did you set it up as “Internet and MMS” or two separate settings?
You’ll want to set up both together. Be sure to delete your old ones, and make sure the box is checked.
If MMS still doesn’t work, I saw somewhere somebody used factory image PD2A.190115.029 instead of the one specified above and had some success. I believe MMS not working may be a known issue though.

Hi. I'm posting again because I never got a response. I'd like to use ubuntu, but my texting, calling, and cellular data refuse to work on this port. I have a pixel 3a (with a Visible (Verizon MVNO) sim right now). It simply says "Denied" when trying to connect to the cellular network. Not sure what to do..Thanks.

hi, is it possible to get the original .img files because the ubports installer doesn't work
thanks

I would pay to have eSim support on this. please enable as I do not own a physical sim.

try an older version of ubports. one or two versions back should work. I've installed UT on my pixel 3a after you posted this comment doing such a thing.

I am getting a pixel 3a soon, I was wondering if all I need to do is unlock the bootloader then use Ubports program to install Ubuntu touch? Or do I need to do more?

Yes, it's recommended that you format data before hand, as well.

So what works and what doesnt?
I'm still trying to figure that out, but from what I can tell so far, everything should work. I had to run out to do some errands after flashing it myself so I haven't had very much time to play around yet.
So I've never messed around with fastboot before, I'm looking up tutorials now. Will this wipe my sd card too or just the phone storage? And will this mean I would have to reroot if I wanted back on android? Thanks for all of your help man.

no, it won't wipe your SD card. You will have the exact same effect you would if you flashed a rom in recovery. This will replace android on your system, so if you want to go back to android you will have to reflash your rom. When you flash these img files you will lose all your device data (again....not the sd card data) just as if you've installed an android rom in recovery after a full wipe.

a thread for what? boot2gecko? This is a development thread. If you have some help to offer, please offer away!
I've been having a lot of trouble getting wireless data running. It appears that all anyone should need is the proper apn settings to input for it to activate....but I haven't had any luck finding a good deal of the necessary info I need. I even went as far as to contact tier 2 tech support at sprint, and they couldn't help me either.
after about a week of searching, calling, emailing, chatting, etc. I threw the project to the side burner for the time being. I decided to spend some time learing about compiling aosp, cm, etc...maybe the issue is in there somewhere. Since I'm a linux n00b I did a good amount of messing my system up several times...but I finally got it right. I formatted the whole hard drive, installed ubuntu, set up the boot2gecko environment immediately after installing, and only the b2g environment. I flashed a factory image to my phone for the proprietary blobs, just in case that was the problem, then I re-synced the repo and built b2g from source again. I sill have the exact same problem I did with the first build. Wireless voice works, wifi works....wireless data does not.
If you can help any, I would really appreciate it. I know ns4g has to be fully supported since it's in the list both on mozilla's site and in the ./config.sh list of devices.

updated the rom
new build, same bugs....but a flashable zip install with cwm (twrp untested)
Test
Edit: Finally it is letting me comment. Yay!!
I sent you a PM hp420. A couple actually, sorry. I have tried the new ZIP and I am still not able to get voice to work, so I can't try anything APN wise with any hope of success. Are you doing anything special to get it going?
Also, in researching this, and my own experience. It seems it is required to manually wipe /system before installing the ZIP to boot properly.

I tried the zip, wouldnt boot and it was using my old roms boot animation.

You must not have wiped at all or you missed a partition
I didn't even think about my issue possibly being I am on an mvno, Ting. It shows as Sprint in android though. Might be my voice issue.
From android, try putting "*#*#3282#*#*" in the dialer. View>data profile. Maybe that username will help? Mine is different as I am on Ting.

Lineage 14.1 hotspot error if mobile data on (logcat)

Good evening.
This is my first time posting here so hello from southeast Queensland, Australia
I recently purchased an AGM A8 4GB ram/64GB storage model. It came with a practically stock Android 7.0 with gapps preloaded. It was great to use but Firefox and Adblock browser crashed within seconds of launching, regardless of what I tried (factory reset, arm, arm64, versions between 35 and 57.0.1).
I decided to try Lineage 14.1 which is the other ROM available for this phone and Firefox finally works!
The only issue I'm having is I can't activate my hotspot unless mobile data is disabled (a string saying 'error' appears underneath the label when I switch it on).
I have searched and searched for a fix without success. I have recorded logcat to provide if that will help? Not certain what is the preferred way to share it here on XDA.
Here is how the error string appears (not my screenshot):

My phone is rooted, in case this makes implementing a fix easier.
Thank you very much for your time!
Seems device specific
Thank you for the fast reply. I don't believe this is device specific as I've seen many other phones with the same issue (Zuk Z2 Plus -snapdragon 820, One Plus 3 which I believe is the 820 again, Nexus 5 which is the snapdragon 800).
My device is using the snapdragon 410. It seems like this is a common bug with android 7.1.1 and/or lineage 14.1 and may have been introduced in android 7.1 but I'm not certain.
I did see one brief thread on XDA regarding a fix for a Nexus 6 (snapdragon 805) running 7.1.1. The recommendation was to flash ex kernel, while another person said to flash blackbird kernel. I believe kernels are device and/or SOC specific?
Thanks for your time.
Bump. Here's my logcat when I try to turn on my hotspot while mobile data is enabled. I've had to use pastebin as it's too big to post here:

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately that thread is closed and the OP's account is disabled. There's no relevant information to my problem in that thread but I have sent a PM to ffboy2009 in hope that he (as the AGM A8 Lineage 14 dev) can assist me with this issue. The issue isn't specific to this model, however. I will keep this thread updated.
Thank You.

I guess I can confirm that this is not device specific, because I have a Nexus 5 (on latest lineageOS) and can confirm I do not have this problem. Then again that also confirms it's not a straight out lineageOS bug.
Have you tried the agonizing "Network settings reset" in the settings? (it is in "Wireless and settings" > "More").
Fetching far, I'm also wondering if this could be triggered by the network provider. (could the network provider in some way, maybe via APN settings, indicate to android that this is not allowed).
If the above network settings request doesn't do it yet, you could also manually go into your APN settings and try resetting those. (the 3-dot menu offers to reset them to defaults).
Also/alternatively, providers offer a way to have their APN settings sent to your phone. I guess worth a try as well. (because the APN settings lineageOS has as defaults are not necessarily the same the provider distributes)
That's all i can think of for now. good luck
Good Morning, lePoMo.
Thanks for the reply. My LineageOS version is 14.1-20170401-UNOFFICIAL-HS8939QC and the build number is lineage_HS8939QC-userdebug 7.1.1 NOF27B91eef740bf test-keys so I don't believe this is the 'final' release which others may be running. It's the latest I could find for my phone though.
I haven't heard of my provider disallowing tethering and tethering worked with the stock Android 7 ROM that the phone came with. I only changed from that ROM because Firefox and Adblock browser crashed within seconds of opening (irrespective of versions tried). The stock ROM was basically vanilla Android 7 but I'm not sure of the exact version/build.
I have tried my SIM card (provider: Telstra) in slot 2 on my phone just in case it was related to that. It's the same problem with both SIM slots. I will try another provider SIM this evening (Optus) and report back to this thread. I'll also reset my network settings and confirm the APN details. Is it just the 'Data' APN which will be relevant here and not MMS etc?
Thank You.
I have confirmed my APN settings are correct and performed a Network Settings reset. I am still experiencing the same problem. Hopefully I can test using another provider SIM card this evening.
Problem fixed. Culprit was a Magisk module.
For me the problem was solved by:-
1)Uninstall Magisk manager
2)Reboot
I have a link which explains the same.
Forum is not allowing me to post it.
I have same error and I am not sure I have Magisk.
How can I fix this error?
AGM A8 stock ROM
Guys, how do I install stock ROM back to my AGM A8. Currenty I have only TWRP available on my AGM A8, /system, /data, /cache partitions are all wiped out. I tried to install stock rom, placed a file T88Q_14.bin to phone's SDcard but when I press vol +, vol - and power button I get this message - Authority identification not found!

Android P on Redmi 5 Plus

For those who want to try Android P here are the how-to.
I just sharing the experience, I´m not involved in the project.
The sources will free-up for the ends of the month so maybe some dev could put his hands on it.
For now it´s unlikely unstable and with some bugs but usable for a basics and sharing some issues could be solved.

Maybe someone can wipe too system adding to the steps of wiping from recovery and only will stay vendor partition needed to boot.

Recovery used for this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/re.../official-orangefox-recovery-project-t3807479
I tried before with the latest recovery provided for miui 10 (vince_treble_twrp-jay-port-v3), I formatted data to can boot as indicated for some users in the thread but never boot and never recovered the ability to see files and flash nothing more directly (but adb sideload) from this twrp version, any of the three no-verity/lazyflasher/antibootloop worked for this so I started again with Orange Fox recovery. (although any treble recovery could work following right steps indicated)
No need to flash callfix.zip.

I didn´t try many, for me it´s in beta level yet but as far as I know VoLTE is a global bug in all devices yet and camera2api it´s not working for me but maybe with other mods can work so in some devices it works, but we can expect that as many users and devs take part of this then we get more advance. I hope that users can share the experiences and so help others.
I use android p. And for me this gsi is much better than los 15.1 ... except for fingerprint. 2api camera works great! only first you need to flash .zip 2api, only after that install the camera application! The battery holds well, and is pleasant and smooth to use.)) I love the new from Google)

I got DP4 installed on the Redmi 5 Plus 3GB version. It does work and you can use it but there are some major problems and the rom is totally unusable.
- the launcher crashes constantly (pixel launcher isn't responding) so you lose your navigation and phone is unusable
- even when the launcher isn't crashed everything is so slow (20 seconds to open any app) and the pill switcher is 10 seconds to open
- no double tap to wake phone is a joke
- no fingerprint sensor at all
- no volte
- no camera
- google treble is full of bloatware that you are forced to download for the phone to work
- dark theme doesn't work on settings
All in all a total fail by google just like their new gmail interface, but well done to the developer who tried to port it.
Guys don't waste your time with this just install a normal custom rom.
If you must try it take a nandroid backup first and after restoring your nandroid backup there is a stupid bug in TWRP you have to use file manager to delete /data/system/locksettings.db to get back into your phone!

I got it to work, and it is cery smooth for a port. My main issue is the wifi keep disconnecting and random freezes on the os. Other than that everything works as smooth as it should even the fingerprint.

Would you mind outlining the exact steps you took to flash the rom as I'm a bit confused by the OP, thanks.
I've been using this ROM since yesterday and noticed one somewhat serious bug: touch and hold doesn't work near the screen edges (~1cm) after subsequent screen unlocks. It only works on the first unlock after booting.
Touch and hold worked on the edges before I flashed this ROM. I am using Magisk so should I try without it?
EDIT: Incoming calls also doesn't work on T-Mobile US, when it does on both ProtonAOSP and GrapheneOS. Outgoing calls works fine.
I get an error that says "Carrier settings has crashed". As much as I love LineageOS, I probably will have to flash another ROM for the time being.

You need to extract the payload from the OTA. Use a payload extractor, and then use the boot.img and vendor_boot.img from that.
when attempting to flash adb sideload gets hung up at 2% and one time 16%.
EDIT: upon restarting windows and trying brand new usb cord and different slot, i got the 47% and its just stuck there however the underline is still blinking.
EXTRA EDIT: nvm it finally decided to flash xD excuse me and my nonsense.
So looks like this isn't stable enough yet as a daily driver?
so far no issues except the holding on the edges. i have had that when trying to delete a message but a simple restart fixes that

I've actually been using it today as a daily driver and have came across a few issues such as the phone hanging for a few seconds when making an outgoing call or when receiving calls it'll send them to voicemail The Edge just seems to be an issue sometimes battery life is good with stock kernel.
Another weird quirk I was having. I was in my discord and we were all talking about pizza so I went to go order Domino's and remembered I didn't have the Domino's app and whatever reason could not find the Domino's app on the Google Play store nor could I find DoorDash but going back to derp fest I was able to go ahead and download those apps so I'm not sure if the Google Play store is from a different country? I'm not sure if that is even possible but yeah that was an issue I had last night.

Same I just tried to download the same apps and they're not available maybe this ROM is built the first specific country, charging is extremely slow for me...
That's what I was saying
I don't want to needlessly promote my post, but I have another LineageOS 19 build which is more stable: Link here.
My build also supports the regular Pixel 6, but I don't have access to one.
It does not include GApps, but GApps can be installed, and has far fewer issues. The only issue being that screen edges may not work with long press (which this ROM also suffers from).
No need for shameful posting, you're doing great work!

The script is written in python so you need to have python installed (most linux distros come with it anyways). A download link is provided on GitHub.
How to use:
1. In order to have a flawless and smooth experience, back up your data and do a factory reset.
2. Enable USB Debugging
3. Download the program and run it. A window should pop up on your phone. Please confirm.
4. Type in "Y" if you are asked if you are running it for the first time. This will completely nuke your phone and leave you with a settings app
5. After thats done chose a preset (right now only the default Samsung one works!!!)
6. After its done you can either set up your phone like normal or chose from the other options (for example if you want software updates or NFC support).
If a feature you use gets removed:
1. Install package names viewer from play store and look for the package name of the app/feature.
2. Run the program and enter "N" if you are asked if you are running the script for the first time
3. Chose option 10 and enter the package name
If you encounter any other problems feel free to tell me about it here.

You just need to do a factory reset, no need to flash the firmware

Yeah, but why is this showing? ...
in which file?
!!! Warning
The program I used in order to compile the python file is probably malicious. The py file is undetected by virustotal but the compiled exe is. I will remove the download until I fixed the problem!
DO NOT RUN THE .EXE UNTIL I PROVIDED A NEW DOWNLOAD LINK!!!
NOICE! NICE
Update:
Ok I repacked the script without the malicious .exe. Once again, I apologize for the inconvenience. Now you also need to have python3 installed on windows. A download link is provided on GitHub.
Also, next release will add the missing features.
Have fun with my little script!
Works perfect.
Hope option 3 comes soon.
when i connect the phone to pc nothing happens, no popup.
usb debug on, i did factory reset.
i connect the phone and the phone asks me if i want to share files with pc, i consent and then i open up your program but nothing happens

Glad it worked and thanks for the positive feedback I'm working on the other options and will release them in the next couple of days. I'm a bit busy right now because of school but I try to deliver it as fast as possible

Nice to hear that you managed to solve the problem, however, did you try installing the USB drivers from Samsung? (either manually or by connecting your phone to your computer with usb debugging on and performing a windows update)
which applications are needed to make samsung findmyphone work and to enable backup of Secure Folders?
Can i remove google services with that too?
Are there any description what each of the options do? (more detailed?)
Can you please add an option to debloat GOS, game booster and Game launcher also any other system app that may be throttling the tabs performance?
Thanks

you can use ADB AppControl to find apps and remove it or find names and add it to this script
edit:
I also found Universal Android Debloater GUI

Yes but it is not a root debloat so you cant replace them with microg. To remove gms from your phone you have to choose option 11 and type in com.google.android.gms and com.google.android.gsf
