HOW-TO Root OPPO F1s - Oppo F1s Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi everyone! So as you know we all want to root our phones but this particular phone doesn't want to, atleast on Android 6. So I made a rooting method for this phone. Now, I know that there is already another rooting method but that didn't work for me so I rooted it like this:
Download the Android 5.1 firmware for this phone
Install a fresh copy of Android 6. Search Android 6 for OPPO F1s.
Now, download the SP-Flash-Tool from the attachments and the recovery.img.zip file.
Extract SP-Flash-Tool and the recovery.img.zip, and then load up the scatter file from the earlier firmware and then uncheck everything and leave recovery unchecked.
Click on the recovery.img path and select the recovery.img that you downloaded.
Press Ctrl+D and then shutdown your phone, hold the Volume+ button and plug it in.
After the green checkbox appears unplug your phone and boot into recovery.
Factory reset the phone and then sideload the Magisk zip after downloading it from attachments.
After flashing reboot your phone and press No to the question that comes up. Remember, if you press Yes, You lose your phone.
That's it! It will take some time to boot up, but your data will be untouched.
I hope it helps

If anyone is reading this please let me know what ROM you want on the OPPO F1s, stock ROMs from other phones or LineageOS, etc.

is this working

Posted cm12
Just installed the zip version of cm12 on yu. Could not wait for the official ota update. Updated zip using cwm recovery which I had installed while the phone was running on the cm11 kitkat 4.4.4 version.
I understand that since this is just a system update there is no need to change or revert back to the original recovery.
(just a doubt- is it necessary to revert back to original 4.4.4 system stock recovery in case we get the OTA or the OTA will take care of any Custom recovery and will install iteslf?)
Initial boot will take a long time due to the Android Runtime (ART) virtual machine which is the improvisation over the Dalvik Cache. So please be patient for all the 122 apps to get registered in by ART. I had tried the ART while on cm11 4.4.4 (despite of system warning that it might lead to crashes etc... ), even then it took a very long time......
Working absolutely fine. Initial experience is awesome. Will be observing it now for some time. Most other features are similar to the cm11. no more 3g detection errors. Got to explore more....
My first posting in XDA.
I owe a lot to this community from which I have taken a lot. I hope I will be able to give back even little that I have got to help others. :good::good:
By zip version i mean the version that can be installed using the phone recovery with out the need of a computer to push the system (i.e. the flashable version). I am not aware what the debuggable version means.

YES YOU CAN JUST FOLLOW THIS STEPS
1. Download official CM12s Ota(1st zip in the link).
2. Place the downloaded zip file in the ‘download’ folder on phone’s internal storage.
3. Boot Yureka into Stock Cyanogen recovery - To do so, power off the phone. Then press Volume Up + Volume Down and Power button simultaneously,Onec you boot into recovery do data/ factory reset.
4. Select ‘Apply Update’ > ‘choose from internal storage’ > /0 > Download > and select “cm-12.0-YNG1TAS0W0-tomato-signed.zip” file. The ROM will be flashed and you should be seeing the Android Bot
5. Once installation is over, go to main page and ‘wipe cache partition’
6. Then select Reboot system now
That’s it! Wait for a while as the device boots for the first time with all new and fresh Cyanogen OS 12.
IF you dont get anyhting just revert me back ,or pm will help you.

Hi, You can very well install the .....signed.zip using the CWM recovery as I did.
1. Install the .....signed.zip file and not the ....flashable.zip or the ....bootable.zip files. Only the .....SIGNED.ZIP file either on your phone memory or sdcard
2. Reboot into the recovery mode either by using the advanced reboot option or by pressing the volumeup+down button and power buttons simultaneously and releasing them once you see the Yu logo and phone vibrates.
2. Use the Factory reset command first and then wipe the Cache
3. Navigate to the Install zip and chose the .....SIGNED.zip from either your phone memory or the SD Card as CWM has the option to chose the zip file. and swipe to install it.
4. After successful installation navigate to reboot and swipe to allow the system to restart.
5. Intial boot takes a very long time saying Android is updating. This is because Lollipop uses Android Runtime (ART) by default and not Dalvik Cache as a virtual machine for all apps. So please be patient till all the 122 or so apks are updated by ART. Takes around 10-15minutes.
6. The usual fist time boot stuff.... and then...
7. Enjoy. CM12 it is sweet.

It is android version 5.0.2
To flash through recovery (either CWM or TWRP) use the .....SIGNED.ZIP i.e. the first file in the list and NOT the .flashable.zip or the last one. Only the first one.
I installed the zip through CWM
The only bug I noticed was when you add the Powersaver option tile in the Notification drawer, when in the power saving mode, a notification showing the power save mode got invoked. When I used the same option after rebooting I am not getting it now..
Also all of a sudden a red boundary started to appear at the edges of the screen. So I though I had opted for the screen refresh notification in the Developer options but I had not. Still i could see the red rectangle when the screen refreshed. I had to reboot the system. Now fine.

Just follow the method suggested by Raizen above. But there are two things I want to add:-
1. The drivers work successfully on windows 8 and 10. It's just that you have to turn off driver signature verification for a while. So don't worry if you have w8 or 10.
2. After flashing kitkat you will get a notification to update to Marshmallow and not lollipop.
P.s.- My opinion on Marshmallow- Everything's fine except the battery backup. I don't know if the issue has been resolved now. But I faced more than 30% drain overnight with location and WiFi off. I'm on CyanogenMod 12.1 now and I find it much better both in terms of battery backup and functionality.
Thanks guys. I will try it and let you know.

SM-T800 on Marshmallow 6.0.1 - How do you root or install TWRP on this?

Just flash TWRP with Odin then flash the supersu zip through TWRP.
Thanks. I got through it all. It's been a while since I've rooted this tablet. My Linux laptop and Virtualbox eventually played nice. Also, apparently any old cord doesn't work. I had to use the original Samsung USB cable for Download Mode to work.

This link is not for our tablets but is the same process. Just make sure you find the correct TWRP version for the T800. Once you have TWRP installed find Supersu and copy it to your tablet's SD card. Use TWRP to install Supersu. http://www.cyanogenmods.org/forums/topic/install-twrp-recovery-samsung-android-using-odin/

I'm also on MM 6.0.1 having just bought this device. I'd like to install this rom:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/development/rom-android-6-marshmallow-tab-s-10-5-lte-t3219759
So how do I go about it please? Do I need to unlock the bootloader?
:edit: Followed the guide and got TWRP installed. Downloaded the Gapps (very slow download), SuperSu zip and Nougat rom from here. Did a wipe of dalvik, cache, data and system. Sorted. Only problem is I bought the tablet for reading comics and for some reason my comic reading apps can't "see" the cbr files on the micro SD.
So I have tried re downloading Odin and Twrp and flashing it. It passes Everytime. But when I boot to recovery with power home and vol up. It goes to Android recovery. Any tips solutions you could help me with? Thanks very much in advance
After flashing twrp in odin did you reboot to recovery ? Pretty sure u need to reboot to recovery to get it to "stick",
Otherwise I believe your tab will change it back to origanal recovery
DOWNLOAD:
1) Install the TWRP app from the Play Store or grab the apk from our website
2) Open the app, agree to the terms, and enable root access
3) Select TWRP Flash
4) Search for your device and select the version you wish to download
5) Once the download is complete, select the file (it's usually in your downloads folder) and then Flash Recovery
OR:
Most devices can be updated quickly and easily within TWRP if you already have version 2.8.4.0 or higher installed
1) Download the latest version from our website on your device
2) Reboot to TWRP
3) Hit Install and tap the "Images..." button in the lower right
4) Browse to the location of the TWRP image on your device and select it
5) Select recovery from the partition list and swipe to flash
OR:
You can find more information and download links on our website.
I had the same problem and I solved it by chance by finding a post online. It seems that after you flash TWRP with Odin it is indeed properly installed but you can't access it because when you boot into recovery it boots into Samsung's recovery. To get to TWRP you need to do the following:
1. Power off your Galaxy Tab S 10.5. Wait 6-7 seconds after screen goes off.
2. Press and hold the three buttons Power + Home + Volume down together until you see warning screen.
3. Press Volume Up to continue to download mode.
4. Reboot again pressing POWER + HOME +VOL DOWN but as soon as the screen goes blank immediately change to VOL UP whilst still holding the other buttons and wait.
5. Voila TWRP!
I hope it worked for you as it did for me.

Stock recovery won't boot (OOS 5.0)

Hello everybody,
since I got my OP 5T today I wanted to unroot my 3 to stell it. It is currently on OxygenOS 5.0 and TWRP is up and running. To unroot I flashed the stock recovery from the OnePlus site (http://oxygenos.oneplus.net.s3.amazonaws.com/recovery_op3.img). It flashes just fine but I can't boot into it. Is there a newer Version of the stock recovery for OOS 5.0?
Thanks for your support

If blu spark TWRP was working then flash it back onto the OP3. Wipe system and flash OOS 5.0 again that should get rid of root. Here's a link:
http://otafsg.h2os.com/patch/amazon...ygen_16_OTA_060_all_1711160505_d8b688b464.zip
Reboot to recovery and it should be replaced by OnePlus recovery.
Why not just use method 2 of the unbrick guide? That will get you to an out of the factory like state.
Only takes 5 minutes or so.

I resolved this issue with following steps (its a long process though)
1. Download Oreo compatible TWRP: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B46mMEeAPSYGd3dBbzJhMWJUVE0
2. Download OOS 5 zip
3. Flash twrp
4. Sideload OOS 5
5. Boot into OOS 5
6. Copy your OOS 5 zip in root directory
7. Go to Settings > System Updates > Options > Local upgrade and point to the zip
The installation process will also install the latest recovery and flash OOS 5 again
Lock Bootloader and you are as good as new

Why would anyone want go through all that hassle, when it takes around 5 minutes to do that with the unbrick tool, and everything is automated? You could even adb sideload whichever OOS version you want afterwards, which takes another 5 minutes?
And with Windows 10, you don't even need to worry about the drivers - just launch the app, plug in the phone, and you're good to go.
Is it the name that scares people away?

I did not find stock recovery for oreo anywhere, that is why I went through these steps
I am not sure if the unbrick tool will also have latest recovery or not
Have you given it a try for oreo?
It doesn't need to have it. Just use the unbrick tool to reset your phone to a factory like state, then either adb sideload whichever OOS you want, or use OTA to update to latest.
The stock recovery can also be downloaded from the oneplus download website. Whicever version of OOS you select, at the bottom of its download page, there's also a link to the official recovery.

https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/oneplus-3-3t-guide-tutorials-roms-t3579288

Thanks for your advise.

If you have Windows 10, you can jump straight to point B, no need to install drivers.

Welcome bro!!

Rooting with Android 10

My RN8P Currently has:
MIUI global 11.0.4 Stable QGGMIXM
Android 10 QP1A.190711.020
I only want to root so i can install 2-3 apps the need rooting.
I don't want to flash Roms or even have use for twrp.
Which root guide should i follow?
Do in need to Downgrade to Android pie?
will i be able to get OTA updates when rooted?
buddy the best bet for not hard/soft bricking is to downgrade to android 9 and install preloader and then root/install recovery.
if you want you can search "konah begonia guardian" on YouTube. he has quite nice guides.
regards

FYI this device is really easy to brick that one single misstep can brick your phone and mostly the only way to restore it is via service center. So you must really pay attention to each instruction on the guides. Most root guide need to flash custom recovery first so I guess its inevitable. In order to flash custom recovery, you need to downgrade to Android 9 or Pie, more higher version than that will brick your phone.
In order to root this phone, you first need to unlock the bootloader, refer to here for the guide. (Warning, just follow the unlock bootloader guide since the flashing twrp and rooting guide from there are kinda outdated and not recommended to follow)
Then you need to flash factory firmware (preloader and lk) so you can unbrick your phone in case you brick it, refer to Megathread for guide how to do it. After that you can flash custom recovery, then you can flash magisk via custom recovery to root your phone.

thanks :good:
one more thing , in all methods , after flashing twrp recovery and booting into it the guides say to delere a file called "recovery-from-boot.p".
i saw on telegram channel describing the same mathod but it also said that if i skip the deletion of that file the original recovery will remain , the phone will be rooted
and be able to OTA update.
does anyone know if its ok to do that?
I rooted from Android 10, and same with you, I only need to root to remove ads and install a few apps only.
I used this guide
https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...de-unlock-bootloader-flash-twrp-root-t3995919
Make sure that the twrp is the one that compatible with android 10, otherwise it won't boot to recovery.
Have mi flash app and android stock rom ready on your PC so that if you find problem you can always flash the stock ROM.

after reading a bit i think the right recovery version to root with android 10 is in the following thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...overy-twrp-recovery-redmi-note-8-pro-t4033695
and this is the procedure:
1. Download recovery file from this message
2. Open CMD from the dir where you store twrp.img (it's important because you don't need to type whole path of the twrp.img
3. Turn off the device, hold Power button & Vol- to enter fast boot and connect device to USB
4. In CMD type first fastboot devices to ensure that device is in fastboot, this is not important but recommended. Output should be something like this 4l6lsctgskpj4swc fastboot
5. Then it's time to flash recovery file. Type fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
6. This is the most important step now, on the device screen it should write USB Transmission ok if that is there you are ready to go. Remove device from the USB and hold Power button & Vol+, When the device turn off the screen keep holding Vol+ it'll keep screen off for about 5-10 seconds, then it'll show a recovery, still holding vol+ because it will get restarted again, and again still holding vol+ and recovery will show up. Simple words (Keep holding vol+ till recovery not appear for second time)
7. If it asks for a password, it's a password you use on the device it self(one for unlocking the screen or unlock the device after reboot), enter password and wait for Data decrypt.
At the moment there is no root and recovery will be replaced after you try to boot next time. To prevent it from replacing recovery do next (my opinion is skipping step 8. and 9. and having stock recovery because of MIUI updates):
8. Go to mount and tick the /system
9. Go back, tap on advanced, then to File Manager search for system_root dir open it, then find system and on the bottom is file called recovery-from-boot.p Remove that file and recovery wont be replaced
Now how we root it:
10. Go to advanced and tap on Close AVB2.0 and swipe to confirm
11. Go back and tap to Install ROOT, swipe to install and Reboot system
This will install Magisk v19.4, after boot you can update it from the Magisk Manager, my suggestion is to first update the manager then Magisk binary.
can anyone confirm that?

Yup, that worked for me on Android 10, global 11.0.5.0 QGGMIXM. The LR Team TWRP is the only one that worked for me, and I tried several.
Do make sure you download the v1210 for Android 10...
- in step 5, the 'twrp.img' you write in the command must match the actual filename you downloaded. Either change the name of the file, or enter the full filename in the command line.
- step 6 is kinda tricky. you might not get it right the first time. before installing twrp, i actually made sure i got the key combination right by going into stock recovery a few times.
When you do get TWRP up and running, the very first step is to set the language to English (unless you want Chinese). It will be the lower right buttton on the very first screen you are presented with (where you are asked for your password, if there is one).
I did not do steps 8 or 9, and TWRP has held. I did, however, reboot right back to recovery immediately after my first successful TWRP load-up. That may have stuck it.
The LR Team TWRP installed Magisk 20.3 for me. 20.4 is the latest, but I'm a little timid about letting it update. I had softbrick issues with trying to install Magisk manually thru this TWRP (instead of using the 'Install Root' button). Let me know if you update yours.

You can go follow guide from telegram group
i tried twrp avb2.0 but it gave me bootloop after power off and on again , it's better to get the avbmeta image file from fastboot rom(same miui rom you use) and disable it from fastboot mode.
fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
