How to disable Data OFF when connecting to WIFI requiring log-in? - OnePlus 5T Questions & Answers

My phone is all stock and will stay this way so please do not suggest rooting or alternate ROMs, I have another phone for that to play with.
After I upgraded to Android 10, there is one thing that tremendously pissing me off, and it is when my phone automatically connects to a wifi network requiring log-in and turns mobile data off, essentially throwing me into off-line mode. How retarded this is?! Previously (before the upgrade) it would keep the data ON until I logged into the network, and if I didn't stay at a place long enough (like a cafe) I didn't care about loging in at all and just staying with my phone data.
I looked through all the settings and couldn't find this option I need. Is it there and I'm not looking in the right place, or do others have similar issue?

Data connection on demand

Okay I am really starting to regret this phone as its being a pain. I have an ATT tilt2 on Rogers and settings all work.
On my Kaiser when an app needed the Data it would turn it on and all would be good. Then after a certain amt of time of non use it would disconnect the data. Is there a setting that allows the phone to turn on the data when its needed? It seems that its either on or off.
This leads me to the second issue. About 5 times a day I get a message that the connection failed. I can then go to the settings and turn on the data connection and the internet will work again. I have never turned it off nor do I have any programs that restrict it.
Lastly, I have a bunch of factory connections that I can not use as I am not on ATT's service plus a few I created when I was first setting up the phone. I can delete some of them in connection manager how do I get rid of them permanantly?
It seems to me that there is way less user configuration in 6.5 than in 6.1 yet thanks to ATT its 3 times as large. Can anyone suggest a work around for the Data on demand issue?

I use HD Tweak and it works fairly well. Because the hardware is a little different, not all of the settings translate, but the things that are common between both phones works fine. You can find the link on this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452505
Under section 6 (Data), there is a "Disconnect After", which I set for 2 minutes. Once the data is idle for 2 mins, it disconnects. The next time a program needs it again, the data connects again. Don't forget to soft reset after making changes.
Hope this helps
Okay got it working
Thanks its working now. I had installed that but there must have been somthing corrupt in my ROM as I was also unable to Harddpl it. I did two hard resets in a row, was able to flash then reistalled and now it seems to work fine.
Now if someone would make an app that uses different LED's for different notices similar to the Kaiser Notification app that was awsome.

[Q] Some apps not working when on WiFi with cellular data connection turn off?

Hi,
When using WiFi, and having cellular data turned off, some apps don't seem to be able to use the internet connection.
For example, my 2 RSS readers I have installed don't work. Probably other apps too.
Is this intended, or a bug?
Also I noticed this: again having WiFi on, cellular data off, when my phone is 'off' (locked/screen off), I think WiFi also turns off? Because when unlocking, I notice it is not downloading mails or updating other things. When I unlock it then it does receive the data when next scheduled.
Again: is this intended, or a bug?
Both things are really too bad, and don't make sense to me. When I'm home, or abroad, I really don't want to have my cellular data turned on. When I'm home I don't see the need, and want to safe my data bundle; when abroad I don't have it turned on because of the insanse prices you pay for data usage.

the first, i haven't really noticed. does it happen to all third party apps? well for starters use the facebook app (not really third party as it's made by MS, but still should be the same) and see if that works over wifi only. if so, try a 3rd party app like shazam. if that works as well, then it's probably an issue with those particular apps and maybe you could get in contact with the developers and inform them of the issue.
the second, if you're not connected your phone to power source (ie charging it), it automatically disables the wifi on standby so it doesn't completely flatten your battery within a couple of hours. hence why you would be seeing this issue.
to be honest though, having data connection on whilst phone is in standby uses very little data as only the live tiles and email checks are done. and they're all quite minimal. but if you've got a dodgy company like i do (yes you are vodafone), where they charge minimum 50KB per session (how do i measure a session? twits...), then yea it can still rack up quite a bit even though the phone uses minimal data bandwidth in polling for info.

Please help a windows phone new comer

I have been using my new windows phone for nearly a day now and I have just noticed that my wifi appears to turn itself off when my phone is in standby. Is this actually the case and, if so, is there any way to prevent this?
I don't have a large data plan and I am concerned about going over my data limit.
Also, is there any way to force the device to only sync when on a wifi connection?
I hope there is an obvious solution to this issue as I like to have full functionality of the device without having to be changing sync settings all the time.
I would grately appreciate some informed assistance with these issues.
ps I have put this post in the lumia 900 section by mistake as I own a lumia 800 but I guess that the same thing applies so would appreciate any help!
Sorry my friend,
Wifi will turn itself off on standby and there is no option to prevent it... However, there are a few apps that will keep the wifi on even in stand by; apps such as "spotify" (I think) and probably most radio/music apps... you could keep it running in the background
You should note that the wifi is automaticaly turned on as soon as your phone is awake and takes over your data connection. So, you could choose to sync your emails manualy.
Hope it helps.
Google search mobility digest keep wifi on trick. The I heart radio app will do that for you.
You can also set up wireless sync in Zune.

[Q] HELP - Can't log into protected Wi-Fi – Galaxy S3 stock ROM

I have a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 rooted with the stock ROM running (Deodexed_T999UVDLH3.zip). Everything on the phone is running fine, and I have no problems accessing the Internet on either Wi-Fi on my home or public networks or over 4G.
I am having one odd issue, though. In my office, we have a Guest Wi-Fi Network that I have typically connected to. I get 4G in my office, but the Wi-Fi saves on my data plan. Logging into the guest network requires opening the typical splash page and clicking on the button to accept the general terms. Now that I have routed the phone, I cannot log into this guest network.
When I try to log into the wireless connection, I can open the browser, and the splash page comes up, but when I click on the accept button, the phone vibrates once, sits for about five seconds, then vibrates three times quickly and shuts the browser down. The same thing happens if I click the link to open the terms and conditions page. The Wi-Fi connection under settings shows as connected, but I cannot get any data to or from my phone. The Play store times out, and the browser will only load the splash screen for login again.
In searching this forum, I found posts that instructed clearing out all of the cache and the cookies, and I have done this. It did not resolve the issue. I did not find any other posts that seem to relate to this problem.
I am a relative newbie when it comes to rooting, and this forum has been extremely helpful. I'm hoping that someone may recognize what is going on with my issue, and can point me in the right direction to get it fixed. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

General connectivity issues

Hey folks!
I just picked up the BS3 after being generally disappointed for most of a year with the Razer Phone 2. I got the EU version (I guess?) and have been having general issues with the wireless.
Periodically, almost the entire suite of wireless connectivity just drops. My WearOS watch (Ticwatch Pro 2020) will disconnect, and the custom watchface I use via Watchfaces disappears. Wifi usually keeps working so I may not notice the drop right away, but if I'm on my phone's cellular connection, nothing goes through even though it shows signal and LTE. In my car on my way home from work this morning I was on the phone with my captain, and the bluetooth connection to my car started cutting in and out, to the point that I had to turn bluetooth off to finish the call. There was no issue up to that point, while driving and listening to Audible.
I am suspecting/hoping it was user error in setting the device up. I backed up my RP2 to Google Drive, because I didn't want to lose my apps/data (I was mostly hoping my Swype settings and game logins would transfer over, since Swype died and I'm being a luddite, and the games require the hassle of 'transfer IDs') and have my text messages transfer over easily. I think it also possibly transferred the core device stuff like cellular and bluetooth settings as well, though am not sure.
Turning airplane mode on and off seems to 'reset' things and it'll reconnect to stuff, for a while again at least. I noticed I am somehow still getting at least some push notifications on my watch even though it shows as disconnected. I am a firefighter, on AT&T's Firstnet, so am also not sure if maybe the Firstnet bands might be being finnicky with the BS3.
Thanks ahead of time for any help and suggestions!
ETA: I also get the "Xiaomi SIM activation failed" alert every time I restart the phone, and sometimes after reboot the keyboard doesn't load. ? I get the feeling ill need to reflash again, but knowing where I went wrong first would help! Also curious if there is a stock Android ROM because this JoyUI seems a hassle, and I just don't want all the Xiaomi stuff.
