Firmware update - Moto G Power Guides, News, & Discussion

My Moto G Power 2020 xt2041-4 (retus) just got an update to the July security patch. I then noticed that the firmware online finally updated (it was many versions behind.)

Thanks for info, I checked gsmarena before posting here and as you can see it has wrong info for G8 Power,
G Power 159.9 x 75.8 x 9.6 mm (6.30 x 2.98 x 0.38 in) G8 Power 156 x 75.8 x 9.6 mm (6.14 x 2.98 x 0.38 in) I am sure this is mistake they can't be different size having exact same display.
Weight also different G Power 199 g (7.02 oz) G8 Power 197 g (6.95 oz)
And last is wi-fi which I believe again mistake
G Power Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot G8 Power Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot
I will got my G8 Power next week and will post all this infos.

Some of the fastboot commands you gave (thanks) unfortunately do not apply to the Moto G7 plus. I´m looking for a way to apply a lolinet firmware zip to my G7 plus.
Can´t this firmware zip get imported to the Motorola Windows tool LMSA and get installed from there?
For example, put the firmware into
C:\programdata\lmsa\download\romfiles
and have it automatically flashed from there ?
Thanks !!!

These are what I could quickly find - I'm sure other variants will flash OK but I don't know if your duel or single sim - there's only one way to find out if they will work for you
https://drive.google.com/drive/mobi..._NsGJYGFyVcHdETThRS0haYmM?sort=13&direction=a
This version NPP25.137-33 was released in Brazil, where there is the model XT1672 Dual Sim. If you install this version in the model XT1670 Latin America Single sim, I will not have problems in the IMEI?
here it is
https://firmware.center/firmware/Motorola/Moto G5/Stock/XT1670/
I installed it and it's perfect
here the commands
fastboot oem fb_mode_set
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash dsp adspso.bin
fastboot flash oem oem.img

fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1

fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase customize
fastboot erase clogo
fastboot oem fb_mode_clear
fastboot reboot
the firmware does not have the gpt.bin file and puts error but still installing everything else and everything is perfect and walk away greetings

How do I relock bootloader and go back to stock on moto G5s?

A friend unlocked its bootloader and tried to root it with no success.
The phone works but only boots through fastboot, because when I press the power button it enters fastboot mode instead of booting.
I don't know what happened, as I was not the one who tried to root, so I just wanted to know how to revert back to stock and relock the bootloader, since the phone works normally.

If they flashed twrp and your phone can only be started normally through the bootloader see
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5/how-to/fix-phone-reboots-recovery-mode-started-t3705325
If you want to root the phone stock can only be rooted with a system root
Most roots now use a systemless root which is not compatible with the stock kernel
You either need a custom rom to use the latest magisk root or if you want to stick with stock use an old version of magisk (can't remember which really old version works) or use supersu but flash the config zip first and set to system as default will be systemless
With regards to flashing stock download firmware and run these fastboot commands assuming you have fastboot set up on your pc
fastboot oem fb_mode_set
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin (do not flash unless you want to repartition the phone)
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img (do not flash unless you really need to replace the bootloader)
fastboot flash logo logo.bin

fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase customize (ignore any error)
fastboot erase clogo (ignore any error)
fastboot oem fb_mode_clear
fastboot reboot
To lock the bootloader do the above and then go back to the bootloader mode & enter these fastboot commands

fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.3
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.4

Then once restarted refresh all the firmware again with the commands from earlier
I have seen though that some boot.img are not officially signed so it may not lock

Yes, thank you.
I was checking the relocking guides here in xda and seems signed boot images are the problem. Anyways, I'll check to see if it works.

Only thing I'd like to say is that on the XDA Labs app the only forum shown when I search for Moto G5S is the Moto G5 forum, no variants are presented, whom should I report this to, so that it can be fixed?

Did gpt & bootloader flash correctly?
Did you get errors flashing these?
Read the last few posts on that thread!
You can still boot with the sd card but to boot without it gpt & bootloader must be flashed successfully using firmware that is equal or newer to the version already installed
If you bricked your phone flashing an 8.1 soak test ota you may have to wait until 8.1 firmware is released

i soloved by this method These two files are those that are damaged when doing downgrade on your G5 bike
therefore here I leave you the most updated
so that the flashees and your phone can light up without the SD
if you flash these two you will not need to flash a complete firmware
Just open the folder that says Fastboot and click on the MAF32.exe file or START.bat
Once there you will insert the micro sd on your g5 motorcycle and turn it on in fastboot mode and take out the sd
and then connect your motorcycle g5 that is on and flash these commands
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
and that would be everything and you could start your phone without the micro SD
the link to slow

Baseband not found z2 force sprint xt1789-03

If you have flashed a Pie ROM to your device you will not be able to go back to Oreo and have a working device. Did you try to flash an official version of Pie that was released by your carrier or did you flash a version that you found on the forums somewhere?
Getting baseband back and making wifi and sims work
I had the same issue and got stuck hopelessly but after a few hit and tries, I finally made my wifi and cellular network work on my sprint smartphone (baseband was gone).
what you need to do step by step is:
1. download pie variant of Verizon carrier from mirrors dot lolinet dot com/firmware/moto/nash/official/VZW/ (replace dot with . )
2. download latest pie variant of Retail variant of z2 force from mirrors dot lolinet dot com/firmware/moto/nash/official/RETAIL/
3. copy NON-HLOS.bin from verizon variant and copy it to retail variant of pie firmware
4. download any flashall file and rewrite it (open with notepad and edit, it is as simple as that) or run commmands in following order in retail firmware folder:
fastboot oem fb_mode_set
fastboot getvar max-sparse-size
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash bluetooth BTFM.bin
fastboot flash dsp adspso.bin
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img

fastboot flash oem oem.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase carrier
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase ddr
fastboot oem fb_mode_clear
fastboot -w
fastboot reboot-bootloader
5. run flashall and let it boot.
6. enjoy
NOTE: reversion of baseband is not possible and maybe custom roms will work no more but you will get to make your device work.

Hi, excuse my English, I'm using a translator.
I have a problem, update my Sprint z2 force with a RETAIL firmware and all right just a couple of problems, the sim does not detect, I do not know if I lost the unlock-sim, because the wifi works perfectly, Will they know what it could be?
I did the above and it didn't work, it still doesn't detect the sim, should I flash the file of a Mexican company? I'm from México

Hi,
confirmed working on my xt1789-03, with the following considerations:
-> Wifi and bluetooth now working
-> Sim card seems to be detected, but no radio or signal.
-> IMEI remains 0
-> When boot a message appears: "Verity Mode is set to disabled"
So, little step to success. From now, I have a little tablet with wifi.
