Need Gcam for pixel experience with android 10 - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Nexus 5X, 4/32
Running pixel experience with android 10. Haven't had any issues since upgrading to 4GB ram runs just like it use to back when I first got it.
By the way, facing problems at camera section. I was using Camera NX (super smoothly) for pixel experience with android 9 but it does not work with android 10.
Does anybody has the stable Gcam for pixel experience with android 10?? If yes, it will be highly appreciable if you share the download link.

+1 to this. We need sone sort of minimal or stable gcam for our sluggish device :crying:

I have the same issue. The only camera app that work nice and fast is the camera go (see my post here)
I think there's an issue with the camera library that comes with PE10. Every time I take an HDR+ picture, it crashes the camera app (I've tried several).
Best way forward is to debug the issue.

Discussion on new 64bit releases

I'm curious as to everyone's thoughts on the advent of 64bit ROMs on the G5 Plus. I know a lot of users here have been interested in getting their hands on these ROMs.
Generally, what do owners think will be some of the advantages and disadvantages of using 64bit ROMs on our phone, both now and in the future?
If you currently are running a 64bit ROM, are you enjoying it and do you find it to be better than 32bit?

Well, you can run apps that are 64-bit specific like Gcam with HDR+ for instance

The 64 bit Google cam works fine for me, but I haven't been able to find a single one with working HDR+ other than the modified one on the forums here with the broken autofocus that works on 32 bit. Do you have a link to a 64 bit version with working HDR+?

Flattered that you think I'd know, but I'm still on the stock rom and using this blasted 32-bit version with unreliable focus from the nexus. I'm interested in 64-bit ROMs only because I've read that other users have it working more-or-less flawlessly. @defcomg, for example, has posted all kinds of wonderful shots here and on flickr / photography forums, and despite coming up with one of the best modifications for the stock camera app (see his chromatix mod to remove the ugly sharpening and NR), claims that HDR+ is the way to go now.
I just assumed the major x64 versions floating around all worked. I've heard that the Pixel Experience x64 rom has it built in even.

I'm using a Google camera Port work working hdr+ and without the focus issues. It has a lot of settings you will want to change to get everything listed. I'll post screenshots of the settings in using as a reference.
Download link for Google camera mod:

Original thread link:
https://www.xda-developers.com/google-camera-hdr-customization-raw-support/amp/
For settings, see attached screen shots.
Edit: By the way running on 64 but ROMs (used on Aosp Extended currently). May work on 32 but as well but never tried it so not sure.

There we go.
Yes, this is a 64bit build- most are. The Nexus 5x was the last 32-bit version with HDR+, and it doesn't support the settings you show... those options don't even exist in settings on the 32-bit version. Its very basic. I WISH someone would port this to the 32-bit one, but I don't have any realistic reason to think anyone will.
To everyone else looking for a 64-bit version that works with AF, here's your answer.

For some reason I still can't get auto focus working when using HDR+. Auto ISO and color balance works with HDR+ on, but the only way I can get it to focus is to swipe to the video, and then back over to take the picture like the 32 bit port. I was able to get auto focus working when I set the rear camera to LEVEL_3, but then HDR+ doesn't process and it takes the photo as if HDR+ were turned off. I've also tried turning ZSL on and off via the buildprop and rebooting each time but it didn't seem to make a difference so I left it on.
That being said, this is still a big improvement over the ported 32 bit version; much more stable and much better at holding focus when switching back over to the camera, and much thanks for posting your settings. I've tried this camera before but couldn't get HDR+ working under at all because I couldn't figure out the correct settings for our phone.

No slow motion, no 60fps either. 4k stutters a bit but 1080p 30 fps seems to work fine. You have to set it to 60 fps then reopen the camera, otherwise it's zoomed in. Setting it to 60 fps, it still records in 30 fps.

Sorry for noob question
But why isn't gcam hdr+working on 64 bit roms?
Currently I was using pixel rom 64bit version.
I noted that hdr+ was not working, but auto focus and other issues were fixed.
But I also noted that any picture that I took in landscape mode was around 18.20mb and most of the pics that I took were all of 18.20mb and was quite clear too...
Any comments, I am actually confused with this...
Thanks!!

Is it recording a RAW?
I'm trying one of Savitar's 32-bit Gcam with raw capture on my phone, and it saves a smaller JPEG (2-3mb) and a RAW dng file (18-24mb). If you know anything about photography, you know why RAW is bigger and better, but not always necessary. Otherwise, I can't think of a reason a jpeg would be that big.

yea I understand but thats not RAW for sure, cause it saves in jpeg format only, and are not comparable with RAW shots at all, they can only be compared to HDR+ shots that too only in daylight,
At night those images are blurry and not so good as compared to hdr+ but still their sizes are 17mb to 18.20mb.

Ah, so your file ends in jpeg and not dng. Weird. I don't know what it means. The 64 bit side is something I'm still watching evolve for now. Maybe someone in the pixelrom thread knows?

Wrong, nexus 5x is a 64bit device with 64bit OS and CPU, it used the 64bit version of 3.2.045 before it turned into ARM64 only app from 4.4.x .
the 4.2.035 version exists due to Nexus 6 being updated to 7.1.1 and SD 805 is still a 32Bit cpu.
and the 3.2.045 version is the last version for Nexus 5 which was officially stopped at 6.0.1.
its worth 64bits rom on 2gb variant?

The PIP and dual shot modes are strange. Not sure why someone would want to use them but I'm old and probably missing something. The camera does seem to take nice low light pictures. It doesn't say much for One Plus that Google and Nokia camera apps both take better pictures on the OP5 than the official One Plus camera app.
it doesnt work on Colt 7.1.2, any idea?
Could be good for custom ROMs. Works fine apart from PIP but who cares about those modes. I'm running OOS Oreo.
Yeah works very fine on OOS Oreo
Thanks
Quick comparison, both zoomed in until 150%. Checked focus and tried to shoot from the exactly same position.
First one ist OP5, leaked beta 3 (Oreo), camera version 2.512.
Second one is the ported NOKIA 8 camera app. It seems like noise reduction is better applied. Seems better to my eyes.
Working fine in Omni8.1
Low light definitely looks alot better using this app compared to stock.
(Also less watercolor looking images in general)

One Plus improved their camera app a bit in LB4/OB2 but this one and Pixel camera still look better.
There is the difference in numbers between Oneplus Camera app (who use Camera1 API) and Nokia 8 Camera (who use Camera2 API).

Yes it gives an error as action not supported
Camera 2 API gives more control over camera options than Camera 1 API so all of the features in ported camera apps like Nokia and Pixel won't work on the OP5. Camera 2 Api isn't new either. Google introduced it on the Nexus 5X which was several years ago. I doubt if any Android phones that takes good pictures uses Camera 1 Api anymore.

Not true, because API 1 is easier to handle while remaining smaller in size. AP2 is still buggy and supports less features. For reference i would suggest to read the clarification from SultanXDA

Google camera GCam_7.0.009 for LG G6

If you want to try the latest version of GCam 7.0.009, you can download below. Requires atleast android version 9.0
Not stable requires some tweaking.
https://bit.ly/2INLPvf
Seems to be working fine. What tweaking is required? Thanks!
I was not able to set up in my smartphone
The app opens on my G6 running PixelExperience. I can even open the settings without crashing, the apps I was using before crashed doing that. Changing cameras to selfie works, but after you press it again it wants to open wide lens, the app immediately crashes.
Hello nice link. But the picture is very noisy compared to the cstark27 version (maybe the iso is too high and the exposure is very very short)
Is their an older version for LG G6 users stuck on Android 8 (Oreo)?
Sent from my LGUS997 using XDA-Developers Legacy app

https: //f.celsoazevedo.com /file/cfiles/gcm1/GCam_7.2.010_Urnyx05-v2.3. apk
and its working great so far but remember that u need to go to the app settings and enable the wide angle camera (do NOT turn on the telephoto or your gcam will enter in a crashing loop, just the wide angle) and enable the astrophotography too, if u want
PD: im new on the forum so i cant post links, just delete the blank spaces of the link and thats it

Hi. I have a question about the camera, in the front camera, do you also get blurry photographs? I have tried many versions, and with almost all of them I had that problem. I currently use Hypercam_R6, and it works well with both cameras.

Yes I have the same issue
I dont recommend 7 version on G6, try Arnova's 6.1, 6.2 or cstark version on his XDA post, in every version front camera sucks, u look weird, green, saturated, ugly, etc, but by now this is my top 3
Is there any version that supports both Timelapse and SloMo?
How to turn on wide camera?
Pixel Experience
This gcam is buggy
How about you stop spamming this **** 4+ times on the same forum section?
I tried these Gcam 7 versions on my LG G6 with Havoc OS 3.3:
> HYPER-NEXCam_7.2.10_V1.0_NEW_LIBS.apk
> GCam_7.2.010_Urnyx05-v2.3.apk
So far these versions work quite well beside the front camera. The front camera is blurry even when the preview is sharp. Any fix for this?

The issue of poor performance of GCam ports on Samsung devices is more related to the use of Exynos processors than the brand itself. I had a Galaxy S9 (snap 845) and the GCam performance available to it was excellent. However, the fact that Samsung keeps the device drivers closed is something that certainly gets in the way.
On Andorid 11, tried gcam it didn't even open and the stock camera stopped working too. Uninstalling the gcam got it to work after a reboot. It has a horrible camera, the reviews are either paid for or were made by fanboys. Any wayaround?

Gcam from Google Pixel 6 camera

I saw this article yesterday on a new version of the Google camera from the new Pixel 6 that works on my Note 20 Ultra (snapdragon). Link to the apk is in this article below. Gizchina.com: How to download and install Google Pixel 6 camera app on other smartphones.

Haven't had time to play around with it much yet but first picture is with the gcam, 2nd with my regular Note camera app. Don't see much difference, but maybe in better lighting...
Works on exynos also, exept for the 10x and bigger zoom so telescopic camera is useless.

Thanks for sharing this. Great find!
I installed the 10/31/2021 release from BSG on my Note 20 Ultra - N986U1 (Snapdragon) on One UI 3.1 (Android 11) and it seems to work well.
Heck, it might be the most stable Google Camera Port I've used.
The front-facing camera doesn't work for pictures (thanks Samsung) but it does work for recording video.
Besides that, all the other modes I've briefly tested seem to work.
Thanks for sharing this link! Am waiting to see if anyone in the S21 (Regular) group has tried this with success... Just curious, on your Ultra model - are you able to use some of the newer features such as Motion, Face Unblur, Magic Eraser?

I believe there is a config file for samsung you need or a stting you have to change. I had the same problem when I installed it on my s21 ultra, the camera froze. Also the eraser feature was missing. I tried installing the google photos using Split APKs Installer but no luck. Would love to know if anyone using a samsung got these feature to work.
I've tried this on my Note 20 Ultra Exynos and have the same experience where the camera freezes and app closes, if anyone had any advice on how to fix or help I would really appreciate, this could be such a great camera app
This completely broke my camera for all apps.
Had to restart my phone several times to get the camera to work again.
Seems that it doesn't work for me. When I click the shoot button doesn't save anything. Shows some black pictures, which also can't be found in the gallery app.
This gcam has been working flawlessly for months on my Note 20 Ultra snapdragon. Takes sharper pictures overall than stock app, especially of my dog
