Ramdisk FW for SHT-W09 9.1.0.335 (8.4" UK) - Huawei MediaPad M5 ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & O

I don't know if anyone else uses this device anymore, but worth a shot! I've lost root on my UK MediaPad M5 SHT-W09 9.1.0.335 (C432E3R1P2).
I'm trying to get hold of the full FW download so that I can re-patch the ramdisk with Magisk. I can't find it anywhere, though, not even through Hawawei Firmare Finder - the latest SHT-W09 FW from there is 9.0.1.160, all later ones are SHT-LGRP2. Even then, the best matches for a FullOTA are 9.1.0.333 and 9.1.0.336 (only OTA for 335).
Is it "safe" to use the ramdisk image from what's on Firmware Finder? 333 or 336?
Or do I need to get hold of the 335 FullOTA for SHT-W09?
Thank you!

Needed too..

You can scan the huawei firmwares by yourself to get the exhaustive list. With something similar to :
Huawei firmware scanner
I ran a scan for you it should be finished in a few hours. You will be able to access it in the cameron.html link in this this thread (the data will auto-update once the server will be done) :

I see the FULL package for all of those versions via Firmware Finder. SHT-W09. Mind you, they changed the naming convention for this model's firmware.

Hi - Could you clarify this, please ?
I can see SHT-LGRP2-OVS and SHT-LGRP3-OVS versions of 9.1.0.335.
Are either/both of these compatible with SHT-W09 ?
Could you flash the full firmware rather than just the ramdisk ?
What about local variants (eg. C432 etc.) ?
Thank you.

Which firmware/ramdisk did you use ?
Thank you.

Just pick the SHT-LGRP2-OVS 9.1.0.335 (approved + full).
For magisk only flash the patched recovery_ramdisk (or stock to get back).
Also the system.img is useful to get back to stock from e.g. phhusson's GSIs Android 11 which is great BTW.

Stupid question, I lost root recently on my M5 and am trying to get it back. I have a US M5 so I'm still on Android 8.0.
When flashing the patched ramdisk image do you use the command "fastboot flash ramdisk Magisk_patched.img" or "Fastboot flash boot Magisk_patched.img".
Thanks,
Rick

Both Android 10 and 11 GSIs work well for me. Some of the 11 ones are getting too large for the M5's system partition, although this can usually be overcome by deleting unneccessary VNDK files from the image.
See this comment by CAOS GSI developer eremitein.

I use Android 10 (HavocOS 3.12) for daily use - everything works fine.
Magisk works and it passes SafetyNet with the 'Universal SafetyNet Fix' module.
I tried phhusson's Phh-Treble 11 for a couple of days and everything seemed OK, but I'm waiting for it to come out of 'pre-release' before moving off HavocOS 3.12; the latest 11-based builds of that are far too large, even after removing redundant VNDKs.
It is worth noting that I have a WiFi-only M5 (SHT-W09) and so can't comment on whether the telephony parts of Android 10 or 11 work correctly.

[GUIDE] How to install EMUI 9 / Android 9 Beta on EML

Hi,
you want to flash EMUI 9 Beta, are FRP and bootloader unlocked and rooted? Great, here we go.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for your bricked devices. This has only been tested by a few people with Windows 10 and EML-L29 C432. Other models may or may not work. Please don't use that method if you don't know how to recover your phone from a bricked or semi-bricked state.
It might be a good idea to disable your antivirus if you run into warnings. There is no root.
Steps:
- Download THE TOOLâ„¢ v0.2
- Download the matching firmware bundle for your device. With EMUI 9 the firmware files for L09 and L29 differ.
- Extract THE TOOLâ„¢
- Extract the firmware bundle, you'll get two ZIPs and some XMLs.
- Start FLASH.bat inside of the extracted tool folder - it will guide you through the procedure.
- I did not have to factory reset. Maybe you will still need to.
- I have no idea if you will be able to receive OTAs or upgrade to future builds.
Disclaimer: Its not my fault or my responsibility if you brick your phone. I have almost no spare time at the moment, so I will probably not be able to help you. Also, there is no root.
Download:
EML-L09 C432 - Build 9.0.0.47
EML-L29 C432 - Build 9.0.0.45
Massive thanks to:

- @mankindtw for the original NoCheck recovery
- @Pretoriano80
- @shimp208 for the bundled minimal ADB + Fastboot
- and of course to all the brave testers!
There is no root. Also, please don't blame if your device dies. And I don't know if VoLTE works.

yes c432
Will this work by sideloading the firmware with ADB (without root and unlocked bootloader)?
my phone is locked. So I don think this will work for me.
VoLTE works perfect!
No su message
The script always end with this no su error. I don't get the permantly grant root message.
I tried the script several times. But everytime the same error....
Any new info on possible root with this? Or do we have to wait till the full EMUI 9 release for that?

one way only huawei service center and flash by test point or all time update from funkyhuawei.club I have sam case
I already unlocked my bootloader and currently rooted on EMUI 8.1, got everything I need to do it with Android Pie. I've been looking into other ROMs like Lineage and AOSP, but I haven't found any good info for the P20... Only for the P20 Pro and Lite, which really sucks, it feels like the normal P20 doesn't even exist, a lot of forums only have subs for the Pro and Lite, it's very annoying.
What is stopping me, or anyone that was lucky enough to root before Huawei stopped that, from rooting EMUI 9? I don't have a lot of experience with android and roms so I'm kinda fuzzy on details.
Morning,
All is alright but... it is not possible to root p20 (some people explained same like genius but i'm not genius)
Where is the best method to root huawei p20.
Thx in advance have a nice day

Got it right. Used these files with instructions on OP
You must be on stock emui. And rooted. So first flash back your stich system.img en stock recovery. Then follow the tutorial in the OP.

GSI ROM Testing (8.1.0)

Successfully flashed emui 8.0 on usa variant without need to rebrand by using hurupdater WOOT AND zero issues encountered
Step 1. all i did was fastboot flash system of 64bit A only gsi resurrection remix
Step 2. make sure you are using stock recovery from huawie and fromat data.
Step 3. reboot && profit
EDIT: side note, apparently people on here are asking if this is for real or not lol. heres a screenshot in here https://imgur.com/a/depZugF
i have tested this rom for about 6 hours and as of now its smooth as butter, havent had a single issue (yet).
pretty sure if you are using emui 8 you are golden to install whatever Aonly GSI you want.
also for bonus i instaled latest magisk and you guessed it is flawless
hoping this is not a duplicate but i cant find a post on this yet
try heading of to treble rom dev and have a go at it guys!
Edit: BIG THANKS TO JAX

is themes apps working for you? flashing emui 8 via huru will give incomplete flash.
This was possible for the US variant ( L24) since July. It was mentioned couple times before. I think using hwota is a cleaner way of upgrading.
How do you do it?, Where is the links of the files?
thanks for responses, i updated the op and hopefully that is a bit more informative.

anyone tested other gsi? i only tried open kirin roms
are you sure it didn't rebranded? at about information, it say bln-24 or bln-al20? it could brick the phone, I thinks is better using the emui 8 from india instead the china version
hey guys, any A ONLY GSI ROM should work. i used treble resurrection remix NOT openkirin as the op states.
and i DID NOT rebrand, it states in rom info i am BLN-L24 -thats usa ver.

Searching for "hwota7" gives you this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/development/hwota7-hwota8-honor-6x-t3792601
In short, all you have to do is put the oreo firmware files (L22 version, not the Chinese version) in the update folder and run the batch script. Choose L24 region during the process and you're done. I've done this at least couple dozen times as I frequently test out all treble ROMs as they're released/updated, and sometimes go back to nougat in case I find something that's not compatible with oreo. But all in all, this oreo ROM is very stable and is my daily driver.

During your testing, which ROM has been the most stable in terms of daily-driver use so far? Last year after getting this 6x I tried a few different ROMS, back before OpenKirin happened, and had nothing but problems with boot loops and etc so I went back to stock EMUI5. Few days ago I got B365 and then B376 via OTA after installing the Huawei software on my PC. This phone really makes me miss my S5 with LineageOS.

Treble bootloop on G960F

Hello everyone,
I'm getting really frustrated hree as I can't flash any android 10 GSI. I either get bootloop, stuck on samsung logo or stuck on restarting on samsung logo.
Flashing different kernels seem to change the above behavior (instead of bootloop I get samsung logo and vice-versa).
I tried everything:
Doing the no-verity thingie...
Flashing stock files then GSI - nothing.
Flashing soldiers oreo kernel - nothing
Flashing endurance kernel - nothing
I can't find a vendor image that's compatible with any GSI on my phone. I also can't find any kernel that's compatible either.
So please, end my misery... if anyone managed to install android 10 GSI on this TREBLE COMPATIBLE DEVICE, please guide me through or provide any useful file (vendor img/kernel) that I might have been missed.
I wrote this because I couldn't find anything that could help... Thanks in advance!
EDIT:
I solved the problem with the kind help from phhusson and the guidance from Lanreallenjay (thanks, both of you!), so I'm trying to provide the solution for anyone that might be having the same problem as I had. So here it is:
For PIE GSI: use stock kernel/vendor (anything stock), flash the GSI, then flash Magisk -> it should boot fine now (only tested with phhusson's GSI. I had vibrating restart loops before, I wasn't installing magisk, that was my mistake)
For Android 10 GSI: same as above, but install the modded Magisk from phhusson's git (located @ v200 android 10 gsi post) instead of the normal one .

Hey, thanks for the interest!
I've got the S9 Exynos variant (SM-G960F, Europe), I unlocked the bootloader several days ago.
It's on android 9 right now, I flashed the stock firmware after I've tried everything to get android 10 treble to work and failed.
Current kernel version: 4.9.59-16947752 (stock)
Build number: PPR1.180610.011.G960FXXS7CSJ3
I can flash any rom available besides GSI (I've used lineage OS 16 for a couple of days).
If you need anything else more specific just ask, I don't really know what exactly can help with this situation.
Cheers!

Yep, it does. Buuut the rom is not stable at all, I've got random reboots/ crashes when opening settings and such, not usable at all. I'm on ONE UI 2.0 beta now which is much more stable (daily driver stable actually).

Have you tried formatting data with TWRP (to the part when it asks you to write "yes") then flash no-verity?
You should at least be able to flash TWRP. If you can't, just download the proper USB drivers for your device, it might be the culprit.
Cheers!

Phh just hinted it's likely Pie vendor causing panics:
"First you need to flash stock rom. Then install magisk and then this gsi.
Though please note that on Pie vendor, S9 kernel panics and reboot every few minutes, so it is highly unusable."

Camera quality might be fixed with Google cam, if you find a good port.
Not to derail the thread but I just noticed after installing Android 10 beta 2 Treble Info now reports my S9 supports Treble A/B, curious no?

Wait what? That's interesting...
Can someone with more experience enlighten us about the differences between the A only and A/B?
A\B

No real experience but A\B devices have two slots ie double the partitions (OnePlus has 67) .
This allows updates to be installed while running from slot A while the updated system is copied to B.
Apparently Q requires A\B so now we're on Q may as well try that next time we're curious
Phh just released:
AOSP 10.0 v208
Fix suspend/dt2w for Samsung Q vendor
Fix backlight for Samsung Q vendor
Samsung Q's fine, love gestures but the bloat is killing me.
You can tell Q's going to be so much leaner without bixby & friends.
Glad we installed it to get compatible but I think now we probably stand a better chance with 10 GSI's, hopefully LOS17 & Pixel Experience get updated again soon.
Wondering whether to following the rooting instructions yet?
Phh did say "flash stock rom then magisk and then gsi"
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s9/how-to/one-ui-2-beta-rooting-installing-twrp-t4012961
ZoiraP's wondering why we sooo slow lol!
Wow this looks good: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...-s9--s9-cross-device-development/rom-t4020939

Anyone has the stock boot.img from the 9 pro joyeuse?

I broke mine by trying to make Magisk run on phh's GSI and now it looks like I don't have access to my internal storage anymore. Can someone help me by sending me the stock boot.img? Thanks
Shouldn't there be an official website from where to download it?
Wasn't there a thread opened recently that lists all versions of stock miui software
Let's see if copy pasting these info works.

Damn can't copy paste that link on the phone.
But this might help u find the latest full rom to get your phone running again
I added the one I have backed up and tested on my own phone.
Downloaded from:
Xiaomi Firmware Updater
The ultimate script that provides firmware packages for Xiaomi devices.
xiaomifirmwareupdater.com
I extracted boot image from each one of them. Make sure u use the one u need.
Hope this helps.

Damn, thanks very much. I managed to get an image from a los file repo but looks like while it boots it fails with magisk. I'm going to try these.

OOS 12 OB 2

Strange, it seems to me that this forum has completely died. Considering that Oneplus 7t is already an old device, I can understand that. But no one, absolutely no one comments on the new update that came out, OOS 12 as OB1 and very soon after OB2. Bearing in mind that Beta 1 and 2 were released for the Indian version and not for Global or EU... Does anyone have any experience and what are their first impressions? Can it be used as a daily driver on this device? Does Magisk Roor work? OOD? Did you so complete whipped all data before flashing? Can you install it over Ob5 (officially it suggested to flash it over latest stable version)? Did anyone install it on EU or Global variant 7t (again, officially ther is significant difference on Android 12, between India and Global/Eu variant)?

Ob2 fixed dead fastboot mode on ob1. Works great for eu or global OP7T. Very stable and perfect for DD. Keeps data if "local update" (download file via oxygen updater app). Rooting via magisk-patching boot.Img and then "fastboot flash boot magiskpatchedboot.Img" works fine. This "IN" version does not have IN bloat and meant for all op7t. After update booted up fine then do it again to install ob2 into slot B.

Thanks for these details. Does this mean that it is safe and that without data loss it can be flas directly from OB5 (Global) ?
How is battery? Speed? Benefits and cons, compare to OB5 oos11 ?
Your, subjective filing?
Thanks in advance

Yes on updating with data preserved. Battery is better than oos11. Faster and smoother than oos11.

No as you'll lose root with local update and twrp won't work on oos12. I patched mine and fastboot flash boot magiskboot.img

firmwaere... about 3.92Gb.... I supose thos is not 12 Ob2 ?

It worked. Data intact
I'm curious. What do you guys still need root for? My phones were always rooted since my Nexus S until Nexus 5, but on my 7T I don't find it necessary anymore.

I need it to have full control over my device... to get no Ads to use of Titanium Backup, to be able to control device thrue Tasker (Wifi, mobile data and more..
that I use), it's must for me
And I apologize for being boring, but just to confirm one more time... There is no difference between the Indian version and the EU/International version in terms of modems and frequencies for 3g/4g connection? Or so ever, to be obstacle to use it as main driver in Europe or World wide?
I am on OB5 International but I live in Europe.
