ATT N976U firmware hard to find - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

I have a ATT N976U note 10+5g which i'm using on verizon , it works great but each time att releases an update for it i cannot get it over ota and verizon only has updates for the N976V version. Does any one know where and how i can manually download the att updates to install them with odin afterwards ?

Years ago, I had the same issue with a Note 2,an AT&T version, but using it on another network (T-Mobile).
I had to go so far as to getting a month's worth of service w/pre-paid AT&T to connect to their servers to pull the update. Same a bit later with an LG device.
Fast forward to a year or two ago & some state this isn't necessary, but, it sounds like the same is holding true for you.
My suggestion is to find someone with an active AT&T SIMCard, see if you can borrow it to pull the update.
Another suggestion is to use Samsung's desktop PC tool Smart Switch, see if that works.
Otherwise, I'm stumped, unless you're familiar with Odin & someone here can locate the latest firmware to flash.

This should help with why your encountering difficulty finding (and a way to obtain) AT&T firmware.

Help with updating ATT branded Note4 on Tmobile.

I've got a friend who purchased an unlocked Note4 with ATT branding and software. She uses it on Tmobile. I noticed recently while googling that it looks like currently note4 on ATT is on marshmallow. However, when i try updating the phone it says its already up to date. The phone is currently on 5.1.1. Not sure why it's not updating. Could it be because it's on Tmobile as the carrier since its an ATT branded phone? How would I go about updating it?

I was in the same situation, and discovered an XDA thread that allowed me how to update my note4.
It's as simple as downloading the official at&t updates onto your sdcard and apply onto your phone.
It's a long thread, but well worth the read:

I really appreciate the hint. i just recently got a new note4 (obvioulsy im not in the U.S) and cant get updates like you. Im very new to samsung (mod, flashed the shaiza out of my m8 and nexus 7, but this is new territory)
when i saw the link you shared it has the following
EPH5 to EPH7.
DOI9-to-EPH5
DOI7 to EPH5
DOI6-to-EPH5
i dont see DOI2.
can you please help me out with a few more hints as to what you did to get the latest update available... (i know about placing the files on sd and bootlader, select update etc)
but do i have to manually install every update to reach the last one?

I guess you didn't make it to page 161
Start with page 161, then go back to the 1st page of the thread and download all updates/patches.

I performed every step one-at-a-time.
Another option is to utilize ODIN (software) to jump steps, but it requires windows.
I don't do windows
Remove the back cover (so the phone doesn't overheat), and take your time...it will take a while

Another way to update AT&T devices on that aren't on AT&T is to get an AT&T SIM (99ยข on the AT&T GoPhone site), activate it on GoPhone but don't add any funds. The unfunded SIM won't let you make calls, send texts or use AT&T data but it will let you get OTA updates on WiFi.

Having the same issue here. I've tried:
- Hard reset
- Using my AT&T sim chip to get it on the 4g network, turning off wifi
- Using Samsung Smart Switch
None of the above would yield any updates past 8.1. It just keeps saying I have the latest of everything. Gah!

I was in the same situation for over a year and a half and finally i managed to update by flashing it.
On an unlocked ATT TAB S4 i flashed , T Mobile ROM and Verizon ROM (Both PIE).
Download the Roms from SAMfirmare and flash with ODIN, you do not require to ROOT it since all these models are SM-T837A (ATT), T837V (Verizon), T837T (TMO).
I think T Mobile ROM is the best as it has Call & Text on other device option and Feb 20 Security update Patch.
Hope this helps!

Actually I managed to solve it a different way:
1. Put in active AT&T SIM chip.
2. Do a hard reset & wipe.
3. Don't put it on wifi during initial setup (unsure if this helped or not, but I erred on the side of caution).
4. Complete basic initial setup.
5. Check for software updates while on the AT&T network.
6. Many updates came through in succession.... first the update to Pie, then a half dozen smaller security updates.
7. Put the phone back on wifi and pulled my SIM chip out.
8. Enjoy.

+1 for me. Ive spent almost 2 years and 3 phones trying to get an answer to this. My note 8 had this problem, then my note 10+, then the replacement note 10+. At&t blames Samsung, then Samsung blames at&t, over and over and over. I even had a Samsung technician sit in on a 3 way call with an at&t technician for the better part of an hour. The last I heard was that at&t was petitioning samsung to fix something on their end because at&t shows that everything is up to date on my phone but its not. Im looking into Odin too because this is getting stupid.
At&t is horrible with OTA's. They work for some but for a lot of people it does not, and I am one of them. At&t has never been able to give me an answer as to why this happened on my Note 8..9..and 10+.
Odin is very easy. You dont have to use At&t firmware you can use any Snapdragon US firmware they are the same. Once its installed, it will provision to you sim. There are many threads that have the firmware needed or just us Frija to download the firmware. Once downloaded you need to extract the files. You will have BL..AP..CP..CSC...HOME_csc. You need to download the correct version of Odin to flash the firmware. Open Odin put device in download mode connect device. Once odin recognizes devices find where you extracted the firmware. In odin put BL in BL spot..AP in AP spot..CP in Cp spot. If you want to save data, put HOME_csc in CSC spot. If you want clean install put CSC in CSC spot as it will wipe device. Once you have everything where it should be click start and Odin will flash the firmware. Once complete Odin will say PASS at top left..boot time should take a few minutes. But remember if the firmware you flash has a higher bootloader you cant downgrade back to previous version.

So I can use a verizon csc and it will work on a att branded phone? Or is a generic one better?
Edit
Basically which one do you pick. I'm leaning towards a tmobile because it sounds like the included bloatware is smaller.
I have At&t device purchased at At&t. I have used USC..Tmobile..Verizon. The device will provision to your sim. If you dont want bloat just flash U1 firmware. But I think you will lose advanced features like wifi calling if you do. I cant remember if flashing a (U) csc with U1 firmware brings back advanced features. But prob just stick with 1 firmware until you have a understanding on how to do this...Good luck.

I actually went ahead and did this last night with the tmobile firmware and it was just as easy as you said. For whatever reason I didn't even get any bloatware. It booted up with the at&t logo and sound, and my software version says att/att/att. I put my sim card back in and there were no special notifications or anything, everything just worked. I wonder if Frija gave me the att firmware despite me putting in tmb? Either way, everything is up to day now. Thanks for the help!
Anytime my friend glad it all worked out[emoji106]

Hi I have the same problem. I flashed android 10 One UI 2.0 on my Exynos Note10+ SM-N975F last December via Odin and download the firmware from Samfrew(like Sammobile).(the firmware is the German version and I bought my phone from Egypt) Since then I didn't receive any security patch updates I only have the December 2019 one. Will it be safe if I download the latest firmware from Sammobile and flash it; the file in over 5GB , can this overwrite? I never tried to flash the same software two times. Is it safe?
As long as you are using the firmware that is for your device and your region you should be fine. Although this is Snapdragon thread I would think International flashing is same. You may want to double check in your device specific thread as I don't want to be the blame if there is something different with F version.

Also try turning off auto update date and time. Set date like 5days ahead. Then check for update. Sometimes this little trick works for OTA

NOTE 10 + AT&T (SGO) Update to Android 10 help needed

Dear XDA developers.
I'm not an expert in this and i need someone to help or guide me through please to update my Note 10 + AT&T (N975USQU1ASGO) to Andriod 10. the last Security patch i got is July 2019. I tried:
1- Update the software... nothing works
2- Use Smart switch update, it does not provide any updates, always says I'm up to date.
3- Talked to AT&T customer service, they don't know anything. Same with Samsung guys.
It's noted that I unlocked the Phone to work on my T-mobile sim card. Is this a reason why I'm not getting any updates?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Mido

Could be that you need an active AT&T SIM Card installed before you can receive the updates.
Some say this is no longer necessary with AT&T devices, but, if you know of someone who can lend you their AT&T SIM Card, at least you can rule it out one way or the other.
Odin... Don't wait for ATT to give updates. If it's unlocked just bypass them... Unless you need wifi calling voLTE...
All you need is samfirm or the other one, the current CSC that has the updated Android os, and Odin
No root required.
Use the home_csc to keep all user data. I'm willing to help if needed

As long as it's active, yes.
Again, I'd borrow one from someone, if you can.
Its been a couple years since I last had an unlocked AT&T phone, I bit the bullet and bought a prepaid AT&T Card (with phone/data) for this very reason & was able to immediately download any pending updates.
No guarantees that this will work, as some state that this isn't necessary any more.
IDK if you bought the phone new direct from AT&T, but, if you got it anywhere else, someone may have altered the original firmware/software, & perhaps that, if it's the case, could be the culprit.
My 1st stop would be calling AT&T Tech support, that's where I found out about needing an AT&T SIM Card for d/l updates. Again, this was a couple/few years ago, but, that would be my first move.
bro pudiste solucionarlo, tengo el mismo problema
Translation: Bro you could solve it, I have the same problem.
Go to a Samsung Experience at a Best Buy. They can flash it with latest AT&T firmware.
Not sure why you want it though as Pie is a better OS. I keep AT&T updates package blocked at all times.
No issues. Up until a year ago was still running on Kitkat.
The scope storage issue with Q looks real ugly and has to impact performance.

Unlocked At&t Android 10 update outside US

Greetings,
I'm super new here, also a tech noob so pls be gentle.
I purchased an unlocked At&T Note 10+, and i am living in Malaysia. Little that I know At&T would never send updates to out network, and that I require an At&t SIM in order to get the updates. Currently I am stucked with Android 9, ONE UI 1.5, with no hope of getting anything higher than that.
My question is, how can i get the updates besides flashing a new firmware? I tried connecting to Smart Switch on my laptop, and all it can says is that my software is up to date on SJ8 (ATT).
Hope there's a way other than flashing. HELP.

Can you point me from where you downloaded the firmware? I am suspecting that is the culprit.
Thanks!

I'm sorry but I don't think there's other way around, you'll need to flash another firmware.
I have an Unlocked Verizon Note10+, the first thing I did after getting it out of the box was flash the unbranded firmware (CSC: XAA).
Ever since, I've had OTA updates as quick as they're released for N975U1.

I see...tq man. Can u help me out with one last thing? As they are thousands of firmware out there, which one should i choose? Can i simply choose any unbranded firmware (N975U1) from any month security updates n just flash it? I just need a stock ROM, not the latest should be ok as the OTA will take care of the rest.
Right now i'm at nov 2019 security updates SJ8 (ATT).

Well, unfortunately I'm not sure about previous versions, however I'm leaving attached my SW information, my CSC is XAA.
You can download it from sammobile or frija (this is way faster).
Hope this helps,
Regards.
So, knowing you are a noob is half the solution already...
I highly recommend you look for Frija on the internet. Download the tool, search for the phone you have , it is a SM-N975U , and since you want to get rid from the AT&T version, you can install the SM-N975U1 version with XAA as CSC, that Samsung themselves push updates to. Even if they will not, you can always download the next revisions..
I assume you know how to use Odin..

No worries, as Odin and the phone check revisions and suitability. If not the right firmware, it should not write it.
