I have the mentioned model and I tried some things on it. Sharing my experience with you as a guide.
Backup anything you need out of the phone before proceeding as the next steps erases the phone data.
You need a windows machine to follow this guide.
My experience with
Bootloader Unlocking [Source]
It has a relatively simple bootloader unlocking procedure.
To unlock bootloader, go to developer options and enable OEM Unlocking. Then reboot into download mode. Hold down the vol up key for oem unlocking. Quickly press the volume up button as soon as the next screen comes up. If done right, it should erase userdata automatically on the next boot. After erase, it will reboot. setup the phone with default options and go to developer options again. That's it, bootloader unlocked.

Root
Summary: After rooting, phone didn't recognize IMEI anymore, so, no network. Phone storage was reduced down to 8 gb instead of 32gb.
But nevertheless, root worked.

Thanks your a freaking God been waiting patiently for this much love...... this boots fine with adb command and flashes fine also. However i couldn't use the screen to type password had to use adb shell to decrypt. either way thanks so much thats great that its working....!!!! the screen isnt working the best but your on the right track im having to do everything thru adb shell but it is working backup and decrypt and formating.
I love u for making this, thank you so much :'))
Just an update after using it for 24hrs the touch seems to be off in some spots like the half way point of the screen is up top of the screen. However everything seems to work thru adb shell. I did have a small lock up which I was able to power off thru buttons to get the device working again. Hasn't happened since.
I'm being prompted for a decryption password. I never set a password on the phone, so what might the password be?
I tried default_password but that was incorrect. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Do you have a screenlock PIN? I had that request for a decryption password, and my screenlock PIN worked.

I didn't set up any password/screenlocks when I set up the phone. There shouldn't be any encryption.
Drat. Then I have no idea what might be going on. Sorry 'bout that.

I tried formatting but it did nothing.
What do you mean by a "verity disabler"? I don't know what that is.
My screen doesnt function at all other than in recovery, but I can't load another ROM until I manage to decrypt my HD
I'm having the touch screen issues as well. Although twrp still mostly functions and or you can get around the issues
The following are the touch screen issues I've found:
Install = Advanced opens
Backup = Mount opens
Mount = Backup opens
Advanced = Install opens
Back button does not work
Swipe to unlock does not work. ( Reboot twrp is required)
The following seems to work okay:
Wipe ✓
Restore ✓
Settings ✓
Reboot✓
Home button✓
Menu or recent button✓

I have absolutely no touch screen functionality after flashing twrp recovery image. I did manage to get it rooted with Magisk though. Do you think it would still help to Wipe Data and then flash the No-Verity file? TWRP does come in handy quite often.
Thanks.
I think I found the solution. I haven't tried it yet but certainly looks like it would work.
You need to run the following commands exactly as they are. Including remaining the .img file to recovery.img.
offered By https://unofficialtwrp.COM
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification
flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
I'll let you know if it worked or not!
deleted
So did it work
Thanks so much for this! Now that Motorola has locked down their ROM downloads I can boot into TWRP, backup the boot partition, then patch the backup with Magisk to obtain root.
I cant get it to flash sadly i unlocked oem and debug everything but nothing avail oem is still locked in the bootloader

[Guide] [Root] Debrand your lg v50 from carrier boot animation, apps... etc (SKT)

DISCLAIMER NOTICE
* I'm not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed
* YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
* Your warranty will be void if you tamper with any part of your device / software.
So this is How I managed to get rid of all sh*t that I found in my phone
BACKUP before you start
1- (obviously) you have to root your lg v50, personally I followed this guide https://lge.fun/thread-159.htm
if you have root with older android 10 and you dont know how to update head to 2nd step
*install TWRP >> https://forum.xda-developers.com/v50-thinq/how-to/unofficial-twrp-3-3-1-0-t4140319
*reboot to TWRP by holdong Voldown+power >> when first screen showup release power then hold it back fast, keep Voldown press >> press yes on delete user data (wont actually delete anything)
2- sideload this zip file in TWRP (found in attachment)
then go to wipe> advanced> format data
reboot
3-[if you dont want to update skip to step 4] download latest patched boot image from here https://kdz.gresslg.tk then flash it to boot partition in TWRP
then in lgup software https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80247013&postcount=5
tick partition dl then tick everything EXCEPT boot_a + boot_b (boot to lgup download mode by holding Volup+usb)
4- Reboot to twrp> Advanced> file manger
go to /OP
There you will find Bootup+shutdown animations and sounds
you can delete them to force the phone to use stock LG boot animation found in system/product/media or product/media
5-you can use app manager to uninstall or disable bloatware https://labs.xda-developers.com/store/app/de.realvoxel.appmanager
6-disable Dual clock with this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/v50-thinq/how-to/guide-remove-roaming-clock-update-t4086295
7- Smash Thanks botton

If You mean debloat apps and boot screen then yes
Hi, I own a now-dead LG V30 and I'm thinking of getting an LG V50, European version, on which I would like to do bootloader unlocking.
I'm not clear if the procedure works on this phone and if TWRP works correctly. On the other post I read that the touch doesn't work (I didn't understand though only when I do reset from OS or always).
And so I ask with this procedure I have a perfectly rooted phone, can I make backups on TWRP, use Magisk, etc.?
Can I do it once, or do I lose something when I do a reset?
If then I want to update the firmware?
Thanks and regards!

idk what issue your referering ( maybe thread green tint in oled
? ) here I have totally normal screen color
So I have my bootloader unlocked, developer mode on, USB debugging on, LineageOS 18 GSI installed, and reboot into fastboot with `adb reboot fastboot` but
Code:
$ fastboot boot Download/magisk_patched-23000_BOvMB.img
Sending 'boot.img' (98304 KB) OKAY [ 3.595s]
Booting FAILED (remote: 'Unrecognized command boot')
fastboot: error: Command failed
What?? I also tried to go into bootloader, but similar result. Did I mess up the boot.img?

For some reason bootloader no allow fastboot boot
Need : fastboot flash boot patchedboot.img
Yea it's just really scary to flash a patched firmware, what if you did it wrong and it bricks your phone. But well in the end I did it and everything worked out.
One really weird error I get from Magisk is that it says it's in an abnormal state because there is a "su" command that doesn't belong to Magisk. I have no idea where that came from. Should I be concerned? Everything seems to work as far as rooting is concerned, but mysterious su commands could be a security concern maybe. I hope it's not a sketchy GSI or something hehe.
Anyway thanks for your guide. I have MicroG and F-droid working now, as well as ACC. One thing I'd clarify about your guide is that "going into fastboot" is... actual fastboot and not bootloader or recovery which you also use with the fastboot tool. Just a thing that's obvious when you know, but uncertain when you're doing it for the first time.
Oh and another thing that was sliiiightly puzzling is that you actually have to copy the boot.img to your phone, patch it and then copy it back to your PC. Same thing, obvious when you know, kinda puzzling when it's your first time. For me it didn't show up in the file manager after patching so I had to copy it with adb, not sure what that was about.
Did anyone notice negative effects after rooting?
Is the camera working fine?
Is Bluetooth working, the microphone and calling?
Is safetynet check passing?
My main goal is to have Adaway working in root mode and have stable Wireguard VPN connection (without battery saving methods killing the process every few minutes), I will try custom ROMs after I get the rest to run.
Camera, bluetooth, microphone, calling, all working fine. No idea about safetynet haven't checked. As mentioned above, it does say I have an extra `su` that I don't know where it came from.
Did you do any backup of the TA partition (if that is even neccessary)?
I did not. Not even sure what the TA partition is haha
Of course backups are always a good idea when possible. It just seems a lot of the stuff out there assumes you have TWRP.

And more generally https://www.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-android-pie-unlock-bootloader-drm-fix-camera/
I gather that the devices with Android 9 or above can safely be unlocked, but that does not necessarily mean everything works with root.
I just want to avoid rooting the device and realizing I need some DRM keys that I lost.
Please update us should any problems arise!

This is exactly the reason why I haven't rooted my device yet, too. If I understand it correctly, data in the TA partition is modified at the time the bootloader is unlocked, so if we were to create a backup, that would have to happen before unlocking.
The partition is only readable with root privileges, and rooting in general requires an unlocked bootloader. The only way forward is to wait until an exploit becomes available, allowing us to obtain a root shell with the bootloader still locked.
Hopefully it's possible to flash older firmware onto this phone, which would mean we can downgrade to an older Android security patch level if needed (i.e. the potential exploit gets patched by Google or a vendor) - does anyone here know if that's the case? When installing an OTA update, the UI says we won't be able to return to a previous version, but I suppose it's still possible to flash any of the official firmware packages at any point.
Thanks.
Is there any way to get OTA updates while rooted? That's what I loved about LOS. Maybe we'll get it on this device someday.
Thanks for this post. I have managed to unlock the bootloader which is great, but I am not sure how to -
STEP5 - go in fastboot and enter :
fastboot flash boot boot_patched.img
Update: I have not rooted
Unfortunately many users report a WLAN issue with 62.0.A.3.163.
62.0.A.3.131 cannot be downloaded anymore, except the french (FR?) localized versions. Also, I managed to install 62.0.A.3.131 on a 10 III, but denied the update to the latest version to avoid the WiFi troubles.
The boot.img from 62.0.A.3.131 (FR) and 62.0.A.3.163 (EE) differ. I wonder if anything could go wrong with the newer boot.img.
To my understanding, the boot.img contains the kernel... So, I'd like to test it with "fastboot boot boot.img" before I risk flashing, but: "remote: 'unknown command'".
Any suggestions on how to proceed from here?

Any idea why the boot_X-FLASH-ALL-8A63.sin files differ slightly even if compared between markets (with the same version numbers)?

oneplus 5T, did badly something? modem files looks corrupted

hi guys
I have a problem :
I tried to do this manipulation to get freemobile ISP using the following one, on a oneplus 5T
howerver, I tried several manipulation,such as :
[Guide]Activate VoLTE/VoWiFi OOS 11(OB1&OB2)

until at reboot :
blackscreen + fixed blue led.
I understood it wrote on the modem partition, probably the wrong .mbn files.
I tried to do a wipe cache firstly, then to totally factory reset the device.
Then, it started to bootup android to almost end of user session.
wifi and cell modules are not working right now.
Well, it looks like modem drivers are not the right ones.
problem #1: without internet connection, the oxygen oneplus android stock rom, is stuck on installation wizard.
problem #2: phone is not bootloader-unlocked, which means that I cant install lineageos/twrp.
I tried to do an adb sideload with OEM stock rom zip file several times. It finishes the operation well, but again : at startup of android session, wizard is blocked and doesnt go ahead, sim not detected nor wifi networks detected
how could I fix it?
I thank you vm
Your best bet would probably be MSM, see the guide here and grab the tool from the OP community server in case AFH doesn't work.

thank you for your answer
unfortunately the corrupted modem drivers block cell+wifi at google startup wizard. everything looks like stuck
bootloader is not unlocked, so I can only adb sideload.
adb sideload worked only with OnePlus5TOxygen_43_OTA_069_all_2010292144_76910d123e3940e5.zip
even into that file it seems that there is the image file for right modem configuration and bin bloobs I guess
even with that, after the end/reboot, android keeps blocked at google installation
I tried the different android images of the link you gave me : none is about to be adb sideloaded (I guess that oneplus made a whitelist of md5 or other kind of file signature to avoid it)
each time Im trying a new android zip file, adb sideload says :
[email protected]:/home/user/$ adb sideload OnePlus_5T_OxygenOS_4.7.6.zip
Total xfer: 0.00x
how could I get this solved?
is it possible to bypass google assistant and cutitoff before starting?
Not sure why you're talking about cell or wifi - MSM tool doesn't need either of those, you simply need to install the drivers and use your PC with the cable. Locked bootloader doesn't matter either and MSM is EDL mode, nothing to do with sideload.
Read + follow the guide I linked

hey
thank you for your reply
I tried and this putted back the oneplus original firmware
BUT
as I said previously I tried on to upgrade with the xda link above, to get volte enabled on oneplus 5T, using that efstools software command
after few attemps and lot of phone reboots without success of volte, I tried a last one
after rebooting, phone was just black screen+ blue fixed led
but since that moment, I had absolutely no way to get back my modem files
even doing adb sideload with the official oneplus recovery zip, it refreshed the phone from factory reset ; but without any connection
thanks to your new "how to" given in link, Im able now to start an android whom doesnt requires internet connection to use it.
BUT
there is still no qualcomm backup restored.. means that it doesnt see wifi nor cellular connection
Im wondering about how to solve it :
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
but, even with oem bootloader unlocked in the developper options :
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
Sending 'modem' (108724 KB) OKAY [ 3.267s]
Writing 'modem' FAILED (remote: 'Flashing is not allowed in Lock State')
fastboot: error: Command failed
how could I fix it?
thank you vm
Just use MSM and stop messing with whatever it is you're messing with. You can NOT fastboot one of those MSM roms from the links, you HAVE to use the MSM tool.
MSM will restore your device to a stock OOS version and if VoLTE doesn't work on stock then just leave that alone, try a custom rom or switch to a provider that offers it.
I was able to unlock bootloader finally
but anyway, I flashed twice with the links/tutos you gave me, it doesnt brings back working files for modem

I don't know what exactly you are doing, but you're not supposed to "flash" anything - you're supposed to use the MSM tool to restore the device to it's original state. I'm pretty sure it's not even possible for the modem files to not get restored, but maybe I'm wrong. In which case I don't know how else to help you, sorry

okay guys, here is a little message to explain what happened
well, in a way I wanted, on OnePlus 5T, to enable volte or/and vowifi, for my ISP Free Mobile...
as several messages reported it (1), it was not an impossible operation. Mainly from xda howto, here is what happened.
1. with last andro running on 5T, I downloaded both apk to answer the original prcoess, with PDC software (whom is not maintained anymore)
while stuck on PDC detecting my device but blocking on an error message : dunno if the software is bugged or just new OT software doesnt allow it.
2. get back on the latest howto, running EFS command line howto (2). It was supposed to work. After several injection plus different reboots without volte working, a last one has been made but.. at reboot, the screen was totally black, with blue fixed led.
I factory reset it, wiping out everything (already saved before), then android was starting back but.. without any wifi/bt/cellular! It was stuck at the end of installation wizard : google doesnt allow usage of this phone, with last update, without connecting to google account, it forbidd it unfortunately.
3. I had so to find back a way to get back android+wifi/bt/cell : I spent hours and days looking for a solution to restore it ; I had no unlocked bootloader, and I finally discovered a way with Oneplus after sales tools (3), that made me able to get a new refreshed old android booting well, but still no wifi/cell/bt. Was however able, so, to unlock the bootloader.. with hope another android image from oneplus could work and bring back my cell working !
4. I was wrong.. so I opened a thread on XDA. Then I remind that on frenchy lafibre forum (dedicated to telecommunications), someone attempted to do so weeks ago... and was also stuck while, after (2) first operation, at reboot wifi/bt/cell were not working anymore too, with others feedbacks showing it! (4). Unfortunately, the link shown in the forums of onplus brings to "internal server error". After that, I did a little investigation to understand that the modem files has to be flashed again. Modem, wifi, BT. I did it several times, thinking fastboot was able to apply directly .img on the destinated partition of phone. Was wrong : erase the partition was necessary! (5)
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot erase modem
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase oem_stanvbk
fastboot flash oem_stanvbk static_nvbk.bin
fastboot erase bluetooth
fastboot flash bluetooth BTFM.bin
Was then about to get back cell/wifi/BT ! but the tools of OnePlus doesnt do that.. EFS restoration is really something you have to backup before, and most brand doesnt restore it..
