I don't understand which of those to use. Do they do more than just change to 9 quick-settings tiles?
How is it related to active-edge?

If you are using Active Edge module/app you will need to delete the Active Edge module and flash this in it's place. It's ported from the Active Edge SystemUI and has both mods. The op of Active Edge gave me permission to do this.
Edit: op has been updated to explain differences.

Will the active edge mod require an update after every monthly security update? Thanks

Hey is this the same mod you posted in the status bar icon notification max 7 mod with 9 tiles or is this another mod?

Nice, but also curious to see what it looks like in landscape with the music player being there. ?

Sadly Active Edge doesn't work for me even without this one...
If this is a module too, how about publishing it on the Magisk modules list?

There are modules that are firmware specific...
According to what you wrote, this means that (suppose active edge module works) if I want to use active edge module , I actually have to remove it, and use yours instead, under "Stock Active Edge" , right?
How can I be up-to-date with it now?
Before, we had the active-edge module on Magisk, so it could get updated there.

Too bad.
Seems that the module works, but only if the media control is hidden.

Appreciate your work, but why did you do a Magisk module? It would be much more better if you decided to do an Xposed module, because then people could use more another mods that modify this part of system without have to replace files. Xposed is much more efficient, because it doesn't replace system files, but calls.

This is a really strange thing to say to a guy who has Magisk modules all over this section and no Xposed modules at all anywhere. It simply appears that he makes Magisk modules and doesn't make Xposed modules. Obviously, Magisk has a huge number more users than Xposed, so the idea that Magisk would be better is definitely not true to anyone who is not an Xposed user. Efficiency is probably less important than accessibility, as a mod is useless to one who cannot use it with their setup.

The vast majority of devs on here specifically call out Xposed, kernels and scripts ( in that order) as voiding the right to ask for help troubleshooting issues. While the last two seem to get a pass from many folks, Xposed almost always is requested to be uninstalled before folks will dedicate any time to help with a problem. Maybe unfair but it's always explained up front. For this reason I for one and I'm sure many other users just don't get into using it. As mentioned above, magisk has a much larger use base.

@Tulsadiver Awesome mod. I installed it my 4a. I was really cautious and disabled the Magisk Props module and rebooted before installing 9tiles because I was afraid that if I didn't the install would download the SystemUIGoogle apk for the Pixel 3a which I had set in Props module Force Basic attestation to pass CTS. My question is, did I need to be this cautious? Does your 9tiles installer look only at device fingerprint to identify the model and monthly patch version, or would these spoofed props in the screenshot make your installer download the 3a system ui?
Thanks

This mod just contains the files for the Pixel 4 XL though I understand your caution. I believe Active Edge's module pulls a file bases on the build prop. Mine is not so sophisticated.
Edit: I see now where you said you had the Pixel 4a. I ran a quick mod for you that is Pixel 4a specific.

Thanks for the reply. So my 4a is running fine on a modded 4XL SystemUIGoogle.apk? Wow. I wonder if this is going to keep working moving forward on new monthly patches.

Thanks for the 4a specific zip.
FYI this is where I found out about this mod and nowhere in the article does it even mention the 4xl. That's why I originally thought you were curling down device specific apks like Janny. https://android.gadgethacks.com/how-to/bring-back-9-tile-grid-android-11s-quick-settings-0340584/
Other Pixel 3 and 2 users might not be so lucky if they install as I was on 4a.

Download and install the xposed installer first and download zip through it.
- Install Magisk
- Go to Download section, search for xposed
- Install the xPosed installer for Magisk given in the text link
- Install the suitable framework
works and does not get kicked out by ROM updates.
Xposed doesn't work on miui 10 for our device. It gives bootloop.
I believe SELinux has to be _permissive_

I have seen you referring this microG many times with much admiration. The only microG I know is a small app required to sign in YouTube vanced and the older og YouTube. But of course you are talking about something much more complex. So what is that much useful that microG and fake gapps offer? I predict that it might need a lengthy answer so a summary would be good enough too.

Raptorddd, it is not possible using xPosed modules or framework on MIUI based ROMs. I was merely answering the general question if it can be installed on the Redmi Note 5. That question did not ask for MIUI.
To make that clear once again to all other users:
- MIUI uses a special framework that does not allow working with usual xPosed framwork
- Oreo AOSP and LIneage based ROMs do install and work with xPosed.
I have never used Gapps on my Redmi Note 5. I have microG on all my Oreo ROMs based on AOSP and Lineage. The easiest are Havoc and Aosip, these happen to be the two best ones at this time (for me). I have packed the Google Sync adapters and all microG modules in two zip files that I can flash from TWRP. That way the somewhat tedious installation of microG is vastly simplyfied when changing ROM. Nanodroid in the thread includes items I don't want.

well lets say its a lite version of google play services.. means more battery and also i can feel more responsive and snappier once you remove it. the only thing i log in is my google account for playstore.. microg replaces playservices.. that has like 300 services and and maybe 20 are on. while microg has like 7 or so.. on and less then 20 services..
i just want longer battery and more performance.. with microG that guy said on link that he added the signature to miui 10. i have not tried it yet.. easy way is magisk module or in nougat roms that are deodexed... oreo is odexed so cant patch it.. they are working on a patch that woks on oreo.. also 9.0 pie has problems i assumed rom is deodexed.
Gapps is a major contributor to battery consumption, most of the services are calling home functions that ensure Google gets also the last bit of where you go and what you do. Google Play services ensures this still happening in particular when there are non-Google apps running. Over the years it has been developed from an acceptable application framework to ensure location, notification and app service functions to a heavy prying tool. It is important for Google, which that is why it's force updated.
Google is making app developers disabling apps functioning, if no Google apps are installed, even though the app would work perfectly fine without.
That is where microG comes in. It is a not always a 100% replacement, some apps such as Google maps work only partially with microG, though there are alternatives for almost everything. https://shadow53.com/android/no-gapps/setup-guide/microg/
Tried to flash Xposed today only via Magisk 17.1v
Ended up in bootloop for MIUI 10 Developer ROM.
P.S.- Reflash the same zip via Recovery to uninstall and get out of boot loop
Some are claiming Xposed v90-beta3 is working with MIUI 10 but i've tried and it just results in a bootloop or booting to TWRP.
Has anyone on here had any success with xposed and MIUI 10?
Doesn't work, I tried and it too ended up in bootloop.

Best Magisk Modules for Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite

Hi, I created this my first thread to know which Magisk modules you use with your Xiaomi mi a2 lite and then later maybe create a list of the best ones.
Mine are:
-HAL3 enabler - Camera2 Api support
-Youtube Vanced - Magisk Repo
-Viper4Android FX
-NotchKiller
- GPU Turbo Boost
Rboard themes, are gboard themes, very cool, i highly recommended.

I don't use gpu turbo since it didn't change the performance at all, I tried with the 3dmark test and the result was the exact same. I personally like System Accent Theme and Magisk Manager for Recovery Mode (just in case you install a module that makes your device bootloop).

I just heard of it today, it doesnt seem like you can install it from the magisk manager app (at least with the stable channel selected) as it doesnt show that there is an update but ill try to search for some more info in the future since in my opinion it may be early to install the update and magisk 18.1 works perfectly for me

only one that works is AODEnabler, the version that installs it to product overlay, no gestures though, but it links into the phone always on display and all the animation is there between notifications, live wallpaper also works while showing the always on display.
I'm using the following modules:
- Advanced Charging Controller (acc)
- Busybox for Android NDK
- Daily Job Scheduler (djs) *it comes w/ acc*
- Universal GMS Doze
- ViPER4Android FX
- Youtube Vanced
Other note-worthy modules that I've used before:
- Energized Protection
- CloudflareDNS4Magisk
- CloudflareDNS4Magisk IPv6

I didn't encounter that kind of issue.
My Magisk modules
- Busybox
- Systemless TZData
- F-Droid extension
- Debloater (v17 doesn't work with magisk 18)
- Riru/EdXposed
- mm
I use debloater so that services like Google Maps can be made non-system (possible to restrict) and to hide the launcher (Oreo recents).
I have EdXposed for no Google play games (stop annoying nag every time I start a game).
Mm let's me recover from magisk modules that boot loop. Boot into twrp and modules can be disabled.
I think Pix3lify (gives you them beautiful rounded corners and Pixel Blue accent colors) and QuickSwitch (lets you change your default launcher without breaking the recents, install Lawnchair v2 or OnePlus Launcher port by paphonb after that) are the must install modules on this device.

[MAGISK MODULE][ASH6] Powermenu reboot mod / volume warning removal / mock location

Simple magisk module that modifys the powermenu behaviour to boot directly back into magisk when selecting the reboot option.
I created this for personal use, thought I would share just in case someone else finds it useful.
I've also added the patches to "smali patcher" for future firmware updates which will allow you to generate your own updated modules based on new firmware bases!
You can find smali patcher: HERE
It uses the same module ID as smali patcher generated modules, this by design they should overwrite one another.
PATCHES ::
Mock locations - Hide mock locations status, allowing apps like Pokemon GO to treat them as genuine location updates.
Magisk reboot (Galaxy S10) - Reboot directly back into magisk from powermenu.
High volume warning - Disable high volume popup dialog.
If for whatever reason you find yourself in a boot loop caused by using this mod on a different rom base than the one specified in the thread title:

You are using this on a ASCA base rom right?
Not sure if this is relevant but there appears to be a bug with the TWRP magisk patched root method where trying to get into TWRP after the first boot causes a Bootloop. I've experienced this also but it's not caused by this module. A few people have reported it to Geite on his post so hopefully he can replicate it in the coming days

ASCA is the end of the rom build number this module was created with, every rom build/update has a unique build number (you can find this in settings -> about -> software).
General rule of thumb is use mods that match your rom build number to avoid any funny business (crashing & boot loops).. if your using mismatch mod/rom build numbers it can cause havoc.
An alternative method of achieving the same thing without the hassle of having to wait for an updated Magisk module every time Samsung releases new firmware is to use the FireFDS Xposed module in combination with EdXposed. This will work transparently across firmware versions.

I certainly am. That's one of the best side-effects of running EdXposed as opposed to Rovo's original.
A few months ago, EdXposed was looking like a pale shadow of the original, but the work that GravityBox's developer has done in the last month or so to make that project work on Pie with EdXposed has really put EdXposed on the map.

You can generate a new module yourself tho, visit the smali patcher thread linked on the first post.. the entire process is automated, you simply need to select the patches you want to use and install the module.

[MAGISK] Ambient EQ Tweak (Flame)

Hey all,
Just wanted to share a simple Magisk Module that tweaks the Ambient EQ on our phones to behave more like Apple's True Tone feature. This idea and module was originally created by @MishaalRahman and published here. As you can see the article was published in November 2019, and the structure of Magisk Modules has since changed. So, the module that you can download from that article no longer works. I've simply updated the module to be compatible with the new Magisk Module file structure and function correctly on our phones.
Instructions and Notes:
Note: This module was originally created for the Pixel 4 (Flame). Due to the Pixel 4 XL (Coral) using a different panel, this module may have unintended effects on screen color and gamma that I have not been able to test. Give it a shot if you'd like, but YMMV.
Install via Magisk Manager or flash the .zip using your favorite Kernel Manager and reboot.
The module has been submitted to the Magisk Module Repo, where it will be able to be downloaded directly from the Magisk Manager app, but it is awaiting approval.
Download (Local)
Thanks to @digitalcircuit for zip-aligning the APK, which fixes earlier reports of App update failures and other weird behavior.
Confirmed working on Android 12.1!

AFAIK, this module could really mess with the performance on my Pixel 4 XL. Don't know how's the outcome here but thanks for the module template update!

Are you saying that this module caused a drop in performance on your Pixel 4 XL? I can't say I've had the same experience on my end.
Looking through the comments on the article for the original module, others have complained about a performance drop as well. Certainly interesting and worth investigating.

Yes. Check out those comments blow @MishaalRahman's original article, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who had performance drop after using @MishaalRahman's module.
Installed and don't seem to have any issues with battery consumption. Thank you for the updated Magisk module.
Edit 2020-10-7: I've managed to fix this by decompiling the APK, recompiling it using the modern Android SDK, and ensuring I both signed and zipaligned the APK. If anyone wants this, I can upload it somewhere.
This appears to break on Android 11. Workaround: disable or remove the Ambient EQ Tweak Magisk module.
Rambling details in the hopes that others facing this issue can find it via Internet searching:
Some Google apps (Google Play Services, Google Camera, Files by Google, Google Photos, Device Personalization Services, Google TV/Play Movies, Google Play Games) and one F-Droid app (BirthDay Droid) would fail to install/update with a vexing error code:
Code:
Targeting R+ (version 30 and above) requires the resources.arsc of installed APKs to be stored uncompressed and aligned on a 4-byte boundary
However, various other targetSdk 30 apps would install/update just fine (e.g. Firefox, Firefox Nightly).
Uninstalling updates for Google Play Services almost fully broke the functionality of Play Services. If the Ambient EQ module is enabled, Android 11 updates will also lead to bootloops unless Android 11 is first fully booted once with the stock image. Given nobody else seemed to mention this online, it confounded me. After tinkering, I realized that booting stock (without Magisk) worked, I narrowed it down to modules (not MagiskHide/etc), and down to this module. I suspect the overlay APK itself needs updated for wherever the color temperature ramp resources are stored in Android 11.
I think simply disabling/removing the module and rebooting should be sufficient to fully recover. If one's concerned about inconsistent Play Services state, it's possible to clear data there, but that was not necessary for me.

Yep, I can confirm this.
I've had a request in the comments of the XDA blog post to share my modified Magisk module, so I've attached it to this post. Only change is decompiling the APK, zipaligning, then re-signing it; credit to Mishaal Rahman for the original module. No warranty provided.
You should be able to flash this in Magisk on top of the existing module, or from scratch if you've removed or never installed the previous module.
In case there's issues with the XDA forum download, I've also hosted this on my web server as AmbientEqTweakAligned-v1.2.zip:
SHA256 hash for both is e8fa5f9283acd0bcc8518e0acc5dd905c62c348cf0a4534b4bed072a5ebb0d7d.

Just to confirm, will this work on Android 11, latest Magisk?
Thanks in advance!

As of 2021-1-5, I'm successfully using this Ambient Eq tweak module on Android 11 with the December 2020 security patch using Magisk 21.2 (beta channel) with Magisk Manager 8.0.4.
I haven't checked the ADB logcat to make sure it's actually applying the color temperature changes, but it seems to work and I haven't had any issues.
No performence issue on Jan 2021 update.
Can this be used on the pixel 4xl running android 12.1 April 2022 security patch ?

It works on Android 12.1 just fine. I've confirmed the AmbientEQ changes with adb commands (adb shell dumpsys color_display). I can't comment on any performance issues just yet but the module itself does work properly.
EDIT: Just make sure to download the fixed .zip supplied by DigitalCircuit. I've also changed the download link in the original post to make sure people don't download the old .zip that broke the OS.

Question (September) Is Xiaomi.eu passing safety net unrooted?

As per title. Or is there any other custom roms passing?

I think simply having unlocked bootloader triggers SafetyNet? I'm not sure.
I use Xiaomi.eu with Root and SafetyNet passes.

Yup! Everything works, Netflix, Google Pay, Banking app, everything. But make sure to delete App data of Play Store after enabling MagiskHide!
Ok thanks
I don't know if SafetyNet works but I definitely can use my banking apps without any problems.
@dreamytom What modules do you use for magisk? Is there any repositories for modules yet?

I use Advanced Charging Controller (to stop charge @ 90%), Systemless Hosts (AdAway Adblock), and Twemoji (Twitter Emojis).
Magisk has its built-in library of modules, but you can find some Magisk Modules also on GitHub, like Twemoji or 'SELinux Permissive'...

Why do you need to control the charging? The recent Android version and most Type C chargers will not over charge anyway. I am using VPN with adblock I don't think I can use AdAway with that. I never use emojis too You running 21.9 or 12.5.6 EU?

Not overcharge, I think that stopped happening a long time ago. I don't want to charge to a full 100% to preserve battery health.
I use 21.9, I'm guessing you too?

I am switching between a few roms now I feel like going back with just stock rom + magisk. The themes are horrible.

Ok. Yeah I also tried a lot of AOSP ROMs, and I really like them, but they're missing my favourite features, MIUI Dolby & MIUI Camera
What do you mean with Themes? MIUI Themes?

Yes, themes with .mtz extension I downloaded from browser don't work, and in EU most the themes are in Chinese words.. I actually prefer MIUI more than AOSP, but MIUI gets more complicated like for example to set permission for battery optimization, need to set per/app in the Apps page and Battery Saver page. Sometimes the permission page in Privacy will not change then must go change manually.
My Mail app crashes all the time in EU 21.9.
For the new feature of 21.9, did all your apps get set Autostart automatically? Was it due to the update or originally all the apps are set to Autostart by default?

Yeah I only had problems with themes, like e.g. the statusbar not changing (like in the Screenshots) but other stuff, everything being in chinese... Using MIUI Themes is not a good experience unfortunately.

The status bar will be my least worry, the one that really keeps me on my toes all the time are the unnecessary apks installed in system with part of the name being "theme", and there is plenty of those files. The theming is complicated too, you don't even know where they hid the theme files. I tried to look for guides in official community forums, no luck. Another thing, is it just me or do you feel that the system Dark Mode is actually Black and not Dark? I mean, if other apps could tell the difference then Mi can't be so careless right?
