Fast Wireless Charging Issue - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

So when I put my phone on my charger it says "fast wireless charging" then after about 4 seconds it just automatically changes to REGULAR charging and the time DOUBLES! I have been using this charger cradle from ANKER for a three years so I thought maybe it's the charger. But no. I used a S9 which also has fast wireless charge. It does not do what the note 20u does at all. I've rebooted mult times and turned off and on fast Wireless charging and still the same thing keeps happening. It should be noted this started happening after an update to N986USQU1ATI5 / N986UOYN1ATI5 / N986USQU1ATI5
Has anyone experienced this!??

I have a similar problem that started after the upgrade, and only on 1 charger (Aukey). It starts as fast charging, then after about 10-20 seconds, stops altogether for less than a second, then starts fast charging again. If the screen is on, the charging sound goes off every 15 seconds or so. It's only the Aukey charger. Strange.
I checked again, and it does also go to standard charging after stopping. Also, I changed power the power supply, and it still does the same thing.

I had the same issues several times.

Wow. I wonder if Samsung did something shady like remove fast Wireless charge or made it so fast Wireless charge only works with their chargers?? This seems VERY suspect that this is happening to other people. Have any of you reported this to Samsung? I'm about to get in touch with their support and see what they say

i have the same issue with baseus 120w charger....charges with super fast charging for couple of minutes and then goes back to normal fast charging.

Same here. Wish someone had a fix

Same here. Pauses charging every 5 to 10 seconds and actually never charges. Only works on the Samsung pad now.

For what it's worth, I have a spigen wireless car charger and it does fast charge.

Like I said before, it's only SOME chargers that won't work. It was definitely after the update, before the update, all my chargers worked. I went on the Samsung Members app, and people there are having the same problem, but no solutions.

s20 wireless charging pauses since the sept update for me, too. rebooting, clearing cache, force reboot all fail to clear this problem. makes ya wonder how much testing is done with the updates samsung rolls out.

Same here after the latest upgraded.

I just received a generic 15w wireless charger stand from Aliexpress and noticed this issue too.
My older S9+ fast charges on it fine, while my new Note 20 Ultra only slow charges (~1200 milliamp vs ~700 milliamp input according to the Ampere app... This is with my Note 20's charger brick and cable.
Seems like Samsung are intentionally trying to lock out third party chargers.

Same here with the I Ottie I tap 2.
Was working before September update, Have tested with Samsung S10 plus and s9. On both, fast charging is working.
Any workaround yet, any one contacted Samsung ?

Quick update, contacted Samsung support. Fat lot of good that did.
Wanted me to take it in to a service centre. I reiterated it wasn't a hardware problem, it was software.
Anyway she stated to send a bug report through to Samsung with the description.

- Information about the phone

- Report error
Next, enter a detailed description of the anomaly and attach the system log data. You will need to check the item at the bottom "Send system log data"

I have the same problem with my CHOETECH 15W charger. I guess we need to wait to next update from Samsung

I have this issue also. Not enough people *****ing about it to get it fixed so far.

I'm trying my best.

I have all type of fast chargers (from 18w to 65w) at home/office... old/ new/ or third party and mostly they can fast charge on my S20+. I found this "slow down charging" issue occurs when it's on a wore USB-C cable/ or cheap third party cable (especially those 1 to 2 or 1 to 3 cable).

For what it is worth, I have a third party cheap charger (seneo) that used to flop flop between fast and regular wireless charging however, I swapped out the power cord with an older S10 phone cord and a Samsung fast charger power adapter and now I have fast charging.

Slow Charging

When I plug in my power adapter to charge the tablet more often now I get the Slow Charging notification that says battery is charging slowly due to low electric current of TA/USB connection. Any one else seeing this? I am using the stock charger supplied with the tablet. I have tried this on several AC outlets in several different locations. It does not seen to affect the ability to charge the tablet it just charges it a little slower.

Thanks for the reply. I am starting to think my power adapter is not putting out the correct current it should be. I will try using a different 2A charger and see how it goes.

You might also try a different cord!
You may try to install "battery monitor widget", it will tell you charging in USB mode or AC mode.
I also find the stock LG charger slow charging, the widget shows I'm only charging at around 1100mA max. While the charger itself label said Output 1.8A max. I can't reach this level yet.
If I charge with a stock nexus 7 charger (which is 2A rated), it'll get worse...just reach around 800mA max.
I'm still not sure what's wrong with the charger or the tablet itself...
I can say that the cable that came with the gpad does charge faster than a thinner cable I had. Both were tested plugged into the stock LG charger.
Sent from my LG-V500 using XDA Premium HD app
When I pulled my g pad out of the box and saw the stock charger was below 2A I put it back in the box. I charge my tablet with the 2A charger that my note 2 uses.
I've seen this problem intermittently with the stock LG charger and today it seems to have become a permanent fault. Swapping to my Note 3 charger things are back to normal once more. Swapping back and forth repeatedly the LG charger triggers the warning and the Note charger is fine. It looks like the LG charger is a bit rubbish. I'll press for a warranty replacement.
I have noticed mine recharges really slowly as well. Using the stock charger, and the battery app previously mentioned, it gives me about 1.1A from the stock charger. Using my Vita charger rated at 1.5A I get about 1.4 into the G Pad. It seems their charger just stinks.
I sent them a support query to see if they will replace it without hassle, if they want me to send it back I'll just buy something else instead.
Edit: Heard back from LG, they want me to send the whole thing back to them or return it to Newegg. Not sure why they won't just ship me a replacement charger, it would be much cheaper for them in the long run.

Further investigation revealed the original cable to be at fault, as it would not make a data connection with either of my laptops. Another cable from my old Galaxy Note worked perfectly. Even so there is still a question mark about the charger as well. Today I spoke to an LG support rep who promised to send a new charger and cable. They should arrive within five working days. I had read of mixed opinions on LG's support, but so far it all seems encouraging.

BEWARE: Qi Wireless Power Pad Charger For Smart Phones

http://www.ebay.es/itm/271346218746...eName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
I bought this item and IT WONT WORK properly with Nexus 5 Phones.
To sumarize:
- It's behaviour is erratic. Sometimes it charges the phone, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it charges for a few minutes then it stops with no apparent reason. Sometimes the green light (means the device is charging) is still lit but the device is not charging anymore...
- if you try to charge the phone overnight you can wake up with a bad surprise (as I did) and the phone powered off because it stoped charging.
- During night, I use gentle alarm and it keeps my screen on (dark, just showing the time). It seems this QI charger is not even able to deal with it because it stops charguing the phone after a few minutes. If you pick the phone ant put it in the QI charger surface it will start charging again but, once again, it will stop somewhere later. USELESS!
- It is not able to hold the phone. Not at all. I thougt my phone would stick to the charger but it wont (maybe this charger can hold lighter phones, but not the N5). The only way I could make it tho hold my phone was keeping the protection plastic film that came with the charger (and is suposed to be removed and thrown away) as it seems to increase the adherence between the charger and the phone.
In short: I'm disappointed and have to advice you all not to buy it.

What are you using to power your Qi charger? From the sounds of it turning on and off and having sporadic performance, it seems like it is not being given enough juice. Are you just plugging the Qi charger/included cable into a PC USB port or something?
The best way to make sure a Qi charger works properly is to plug it into a wall outlet using an AC adapter/cable that provides equal, or more current than the required input. Your Qi charger says Input DC 5V 1.5A. So you should have an AC adapter that provides that, as well as a USB cable that supports high speed charging (like the stock Nexus 5 cable).
Have you tried using the stock Nexus 5 AC adapter and stock Nexus 5 USB cable? Most included USB cables that ship with Qi chargers are quite crap. I know that the stock Nexus 5 AC adapter is 1.2A, but it is still a good block and should power your Qi charger well enough until you get a higher output AC adapter. If you haven't, try testing your Qi charger using that block and cable and see if there is an improvement.
Yes, I tried all that. I used several ac adapters, including N5 charger and 2 Samsung adapters

I guess if that's the case then try contacting the seller and asking for a refund or replacement. You probably got a lemon.
Tell them it doesn't perform properly or show them with pictures and/or video of the slow charging/disconnects.

[SOLVED] SM-P605 (kitkat) battery charging problem

It is solved! Some 3rd-party usb chargers have same issue.
Samsung standard charger works very well.
I have a Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition (Hongkong, TGY).
Yesterday I updated my device to 4.4.2 (P605ZSUCNE3_P605OZSCNE3_TGY) with Odin.
Upgrading was OK, everything works fine except a battery charging problem.
When device connects to a usb charger, the battery stops charging after 1-2 minutes although not 100%.
I tried something but nothing helps.
- Changing charger/cable to another
- Factory reset (Recovery mode)
- Flashing P605XXUCNE2_P605OXACNE2_NEE (Nordic) Firmware
- Power off mode charging -> It works. This is the only way to make device 100% that I found.

I've got the same issue following the 4.4.2 update, all my third party charges that worked fine before the update no longer work. Battery management software show the device getting the same mA of current to the battery but the device is not charging (it says that it is!).
Original charger does work but is not a valid solution for me, why are the non-oem chargers not working all of a sudden and how do I get them to work again?

I'm having the same problem, trying to fix with some charger mods (shorting data pins of USB) or fast charge kernel. The kernel hack did not work yet, but shorting the d+ and d+ pins of usb cable on device end works. (although I could achive max 1.5mah)
According to this
http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/0...t-on-the-note-3-but-there-is-a-root-solution/
Samsung denies any intentional blocking and a connection between KitKat and third party accessories.
I tried my third party chargers and they too didn't work. Charging stopped when the screen turned off. However, my Motorola and HTC chargers do work. Maybe the third party tings have inconsisten voltage output or something like that.
I had the new Tab s 10.5 and some of my usb chargers would not work. I found a deal way to good to pass up so I returned the Tab s and THOUGHT I was getting a Note 10.1 2014 wifi. Yet lol I didnt I got a 605 which is AWESOME ..I just always wanted the SnapDragon chip. It was a tad over $400 32gb NEW.
Anyway so I turn it on set it up and it was downloading 4.4 already I wanted to stay with 4.3 after reading around here. Yet so far it works flawless. All my usb chargers work. I can be doing ANYTHING and it keeps charging. Like I said the Tab s I could ONLY use Samsungs.
In my case Android 4.4 for P605 is way better than 4.3. Great battery live, great performance, no or very small lags. But I had initial release of 4.3 ROM which was never updated.
I have a third party charger and it goes well. It is Chinese no marks.
If it is just shorting the data pins, then it will charge. But you will be limited to 1500mah.
I think it needs an Apple compatible charger. Only the Apple standard supports charging over Usb 2 at 2A, for the Ipad.
The Anker 5 port 8A charger is fantastic.

No, I did that mistake and bought a dual port 4a charger. Samsung somehow detects Apple charger and stops charging when screen turns off. I had to make an adapter for shorting data pins, like this, I can at least charge with 1.5a
while i was on vacation my p605 starts having the same problem. It is just loading while the screen is on. After getting black/off it takes a few more seconds till charging stops. This problem is accompanied by the symptom that the tablet won't be recognized by the pc anymore. It is just loading ('til the screen gets black). i have no idea what to do. i am not sure, if the different voltage on vacation could be a reason. based on the fact that i can't get it back to stock, i guess i can not get it repaired by warranty (or is there any way to get it stock? unfortunately mobile odin is not supported). i would be glad about some good hints and thank you in advance
Your cable or charger might have a problem or you may be using a different charger than original one.
Hi everyone,
I've found a bit different issue - my P605 (LTE) does not want to be charged when plugged into USB port (so, no charger is being used).
I tried both using laptop and stationary PC
//ok, nevermind. I've just found somewhere else, that it has been always like that (not noticed that before)
Exact same problem here - charging stops as soon as the screen lock kicks in, even with the original Samsung charger. Brought the tablet back to the tmobile store and had them connect to another Samsung charger - still happens.
Has anyone found a fix for this short of shorting the harger pins?
I don't follow my own advice, and never had this problem. But charge with the original cable where the two GND pins are connected. In most cables one of them is open.
My old Garmin Street Pilot with mini usb used the second GND pin to determine whether to remain operational and charge, or go into pc connectivity mode and do nothing else.
I have the same problem . After upgrading to Kit kat just a few days ago it would stop charging moments after the screen turns off. No matter what cable or charger
This happens to me only when I'm not using original 5.3v charger and original cable. Check your cable and charger. (although I think it works with 5v Samsung charger of my note 3 as well)
My last charger had 4.9v with no load, and certainly lower with a 2A load. No Problems. But if a charger is badly stabilized, it may drop too much, and the Note is very demanding, with twice the current of a typical phone.
I had a DIY adapter to charge my old Nokia stuff via USB. The Nokia chargers have a 5v spec, but one provided 6v, another 7v. And USB voltage seemed too low, there was sort of sporadic charge, with the connection dropping after a short time. But all connections were fine, must have been a voltage thang.
So i still have to keep a Nokia charger ready, only to charge my Nokia BT headset.
Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition Charging Fail
Has anyone discovered a fix for this:
When I plug in my tablet...Samsung Galaxy Note 2014 Edition...Using any plug (I have tried factory charger, and multiple alternatives including Ipad Charging adapters) when the screen is on the charging occurs, but When the screen closes about 2 seconds later the screen turns back on the way it does when charge is complete, only its still at same battery level as before! I have tried closing all apps and still the same, Used Task Manager to close all apps and clear the RAM and still nothing, Gone into app manager and closed running processes and still the same results! I am operating KitKat (OS since purchase) and the only actual way to charge it is to leave a plug in all day with the screen On, or shut off the Tablet!
Is there a fix for this or what?
Its bad enough that I cant find a good bluetooth keyboard that is compatible with this tablet! Im on the verge of trading it in and going Apple! Someone please help...Keep me from turning to Apple!
Is there a fix for this even if it requires manually adjusting chargers or the tablet itself (the internal components)?
thank you all for your help!

Pixel C does not immediately charge when plugged in

My Pixel C tablet does not start to charge immediately when I plug it in to any charger. It registers that it is plugged in straight away, the battery icon changes straight away to the icon with a lightning bolt and the Ampere app registers as being plugged in, but it does not start charging. The battery information screen says 'Not charging' and ampere says the battery is still discharging. After about a minute this usually changes and the tablet does start charging, but a couple of times it has not charged at all while registering that it has been plugged in for half an hour.
This happened with my brand new tablet, so I returned it and the second and third replacements have been exactly the same. This happens using different chargers and in different locations (I have tried different sockets around my house and at work).
Has anyone else experienced this? I am about to return my third tablet for a refund as I don't want such an expensive device that I can't trust is going to charge.

Mine does this, I wondered if it was a USB C thing too. when I plug it in the charging icon appears immediately but Ampere shows plugged in/discharging, the discharge rate starts low at approx 300mAh and over about 30 seconds rises (drops?) to, for example 1750mAh before flipping to displaying charge at 1750mAh. The final plugged in/discharge rate always matches the initial charge rate measured.
I usually charge using an Anker multi port charger and USB A to C cable. it behaves the same but with higher numbers with the Google supplied charger.
I am curious to know if USB C negotiating its best charge rate somehow fools Ampere?
I just bought a Pixel C and I am using it with a generic 5V /2A charger and a Dash usb C cable. It does the exact same thing that the OP described. I have to plug the USB end of the cable into the charger once or twice, before it starts charging. If I just plug the tablet in normally the lightning symbol appears and it does not start charging.
USC Type c takes 10 secs to negotiate. I would not use other chargers or cables. Stick with stock or known tested working ones. Refer to this spreadsheet
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vnpEXfo2HCGADdd9G2x9dMDWqENiY2kgBJUu29f_TX8/pubhtml
Remember ampere is not accurate and is only a best guesstimate. I recommend using current monitor in conjunction.
Becareful using generic cables and chargers risking frying your devices. If the cable is not made programmed correctly missing emarker or same for charger, USB Ttype C Power Delivery cannot not negotiate correctly. If it's missing altogether it may overcharge..
I've found the Pixel C to be a little picky with its chargers but the only really big disappointment was with the Pixel phone charger. That charger is supposed to support Power Delivery and can charge faster than the Pixel C charger can so I naturally plugged it into the tablet and it is useless! It connects and disconnects continuously so it never accomplishes any charging and the screen will not stay off. You'd think a charger and a device designed by the same company, advertising the same USB charging standard, sharing a marketing name, would work together!

You might have a defective Pixel charger or cable, it has been known to happen. That is why people have gotten replacements.
On that note consider that the Pixel comes with the same charger as the XL, but it doesn't charge at any faster rate than 15W with it's own charger..

Yes, I have heard that the Pixel-xs doesn't make use of the higher voltage (9v, I think?) charging option, but I was hoping the Pixel C would. It is known to work with other higher power chargers. Maybe I'll call up the old Google and see if my charger is bunk. Even if it is no faster it shouldn't cyclically fail to auto negotiate like it does.

The Pixel C is 5V/3A 9V/2.67 12V/2A. I use both the Xentris/verizon USB-C/QC ($9-40) and Targus 45W ($30-55) chargers, both charge my Pixel C at 24W 12V/2A. It's great.
I have just purchased the Belkin charger cable that is on the Google list. The tablet's behavior is still hit and miss on the 10V/2A chargers that I have. I am using the Samsung S2 charger (should be plenty good quality). I am not even looking for fast charging or anything, just consistent behavior. If I plug in the usb C end of the cable ampere starts to show a discharge rate of like -500 mA and it does not start charging. The built in battery indicator says USB Charger = not charging. This happens about 7 times out of ten. In the other 3 cases it starts charging when the USB C end is plugged into the tablet. If I look at Ampere and see that is does not charge for like a minute, then I unplug the USB 2.0 end of the cable from the charger, re-insert it and voila it starts drawing 2000 mA immediately. I have tried 3 different chargers so far and the behavior has always been the same.

The Pixel C uses USB Type C Power Delivery 5V/3A 9V/2.67A 12/2A. 24W max
Ampere app is rather useless and just for reference. (note I use it often) Try Current Monitor. Regardless both rather useless, since the Pixel C doesn't negotiate faster charger until after the screen turns off. So while you have the screen on looking at Ampere/Current Monitor, you're gonna get a fluctuating reading that doesn't make sense. I use a kill-a-watt to see the wattage being pulled.
I am able to get a solid consistent 15W charge out of the stock OEM charger. I can get anywhere from 15W (screen on) with my Xentris/verizon and Targus 45W chargers and 24W (screen off).
Also note USB-c is not consistent, it negotiates different levels and it always changing depending on several conditions, like battery level, temperature and if screen is on at the time.
I've attached some results using LG V10 OEM Charger, Samsung Fast Adaptive Charger and Asus Nexus 7 charger with USB A to C with 56k ohm pullup resistor connected to the Kill-A-Watt for reference.

Like the title says. I've tried 3 different charges, all 3 are oem samsung 45w chargers and they all activate super fast charging but about 5 minutes less or so it goes back to regular slow charging. 2 out of the 3 cables are 3rd party cables but are rated for up to 100w charging the third cable is the oem samsung 5A charging cable. I'm getting the same issue on all 3 of them. Is there a setting in missing maybe that's making it go back to slow charging? All 3 of these chargers work fine on my s22 ultra. Any recommendations?
Just get a 25w samsung charger plus samsung cable. Im always getting sfc
No problem here either, using the block and cable from my old Note 20.

Same here, block and cable Note 20 Ultra on ZFold4 works fine
Mine seems to love to drop charging speeds alot
Using battery charging monitor pro and ampere pro
I couldn't get past 5h of sot, installed b.c.m.p to watch what's up, after setting my refresh rates per app, I'm not hitting 7plus hours one charge
My one issue right now is what chargers i have(2 Samsung adaptive chargers) and a few other 25 to 65 watt chargers... It's always dipping and charging slow, the fast chargers will hit 2.8mah but not for long, and it's only pulling 15w for 2.8mah
When it slows it drops to 6w.
I'm getting a new Samsung super fast cord and brick to hopefully fix the charging issue, I have been using a dummy charger that hovers around 1.4 to 1.6mah with much less dipping.
B.c.m.p is a graph that shows me the dips...
any way to solve this?
