Google Play system update problem - Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Questions & Answers

My Google Play system update was stuck on 1 July for several months now. And today I notice it turns red with no more updates available. Anyone have the same problem nor know how to fix it?
I'm on latest stock ROM with locked BL.

Same here, is there an update??

That is apparently the current version?

Same on my phone, but I could update it manually to Sept 1. now.
Weird that it was not done automatically.

Oh, mine had the update today. 6.3k, can't have been much in it.
I don't think it was automatic in the past either. But I have is updates set to manual so maybe that's why?

Download and install this Apk if you are on the Sept Patch

Same story on my other phone Samsung A30s. So I guess it's not A2 lite specific.

This was a problem for me as well. My moto g 5g was stuck on that of 1 August 2020. I searched all over the internet but couldn't find anything that would work. I even did a factory reset but that too didn't work and the it was still showing that no updates were available. But yesterday while I was using the "Multiple User" option available under the "System" in settings (not as guest but new user) and tried checking Google Play system update and surprisingly there was an update available. I changed from new user to the original user (admin) and found that still there was no update available there. So I checked back to the new user and updated the phone. Why Google treated the new user differently is something that I want to know?

Yes, it seems to work very well. Re-rooted with Nexus Root Toolkit v1.8.3. Just had to re-enable usb debigging first. The toolkit even updated itself with KTU84L binary (4.4.3 for Nexus2013).
I just updated mine, nothing different though, I guess its only bugs fix

Hi guys, so I got the notification about the update, but I forgot I had to have the stock recovery to install it, and I pressed the install update, it locked my bootloader, but didn't update to 4.4.3, now if I go to system update, press check for updates, it say I'm on latest update. What should I do now?

Boot into twrp, and flash it manually, you'll find the ota zip in /cache.
Unless you are serious/correct about it locking your bootloader, which I never heard of an update doing, then you got a different issue.
I did the same thing, but there's no update in that folder

one got it, not the other
I've two Nexus 7 2013 units. One got the update message (and it worked) but the other has not. Tried checking for updates on it and it says it's up to date (running 4.4.2). No biggie, just curious that one got it but not the other.
Still haven't rooted either of them yet.

Nothing to be curious about, it's just the way they roll it out.

Not trying to start that debate again, but anyone considering doing this should at least be aware of this article before doing it: Don't clear data for Google Services Framework

Yep. Agreed, it's much safer to just side load it.

Agreed, blanket dumping of data certainly has it's place. I wasn't sure this was one of them. That and I'm honestly ot in any kind of rush to force updates. Still, it's been a few days and the one tablet is still not showing 4.4.3 as available yet. Both are logged into the same google account. No rush, my to-do list has PLENTY of other things on it...

Notification to Update to 5.0.1 is gone on Nexus 7 2013

HI,
I got a notification few days ago that 5.0.1 is now available for my Nexus 7 but when I finally decided to upgrade, the notification was gone and checking system updates show that my system is up-to-date. Anyone know how I can get it back? I don't want to use the zip file and sideloading. My device is a bit complicated because I have Multirom and Ubunut Touch.
Thanks.

I've tried that already even if they say it won't work anymore and it will introduce some problems but still no luck.
Maybe the update was rolled-back? The update was downloaded already and all I need to do is install it

If the update was downloaded on your phone, it may be in /cache. Remove it then check again update it will be fine.
There are rumors that the update has been pulled. Many people from other sites claim the same thing.

It's not there anymore. Probably it was deleted when I restarted. Could it possibly true that it was pulled-out?
I was actually searching for articles about it but no one says that it is indeed.

App updates get stuck at 100% download

Not sure if this is Z Play specific, but I'm running Android 7.0, with the 1st April patch
I've not used WiFi for a while, so I've got 37 updates for apps. Whenever I update, the first app gets to 100% downloaded but then just stays there. A reboot might let me update 1 app, but then the problem returns.
Any ideas?

Go to your Apps section, see the System Apps, then clear all Data on the Play Store and try again.
Clear playstore data and try.
If that doesn't work then hard reset is the last option.

I would first do the update to android 7.1.1. For me this fixed many bugs. And you get 06/2017 security patch with over 100 bug fixes. Just check, maybe the update is there.

8.1 ota or December security patch?

I sideloaded the OTA the same day it released instead of waiting for it to be pushed to my phone.

I'm still on DP2 with the Nov 5 patch level. Figured being in the beta program I'd get the official patch right away but nothing yet.
Mee too still no dec patch
my understanding is on beta you will not get the security patches, when the dp2 becomes the propper version then remember to come out the beta program
Still no OTA for my Pixel XL.
Stock 8.0 Nov security patch.
Sideloaded it here.. not waiting!
Definitely the 8.1
So, there are 2 Google Pixel 2 XL phones in the house... 1 64GB and 1 128GB. Guess which one got the 8.1 update (528GB)? That's right, the 64GB! The 128GB is still waiting...
Both phones were purchased straight from Google and added to AT&T

Same exact thing I did the minute I got home from work the day it was released! Don't understand why all ppl won't do this instead of complaining about waiting for the OTA to get pushed to their phones!

In my case i just opted out beta program, check settings and received 8.0.0 notification. It erased my phone but i don't care. Installed and check for 8.1. Received as well and done.
Backup tool in pixel and auto fill for my passwords made it easy
Now I'm on 8.1 december security patch. Always locked and never with root

I also sideloaded shortly after it was posted on my Pixel XL. However, I just noticed this article...
http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/1...pulling-latest-otas-promised-itll-fixed-2018/
Apparently, the "Check for Update" button functionality was broken recently via an update to Google Play Services. That bug won't be corrected until early in 2018. So - it appears the best way to get the 8.1 update (if you don't want to wait until next year), would be to sideload the OTA or flash factory images - depending on your preference and bootloader status...
Good luck.

Do people still capture the incremental OTA update filename from logcat, and post for people to sideload, or since Google publishes the full OTA's, do people just sideload that? Wondering if there's really a difference? Thanks!
Got it to update! I read on another forum to put it in airplane mode, clear the cache then the data in Google services framework, and then turn airplane mode off.... almost immediately after turning airplane mode off, I got the notification for the latest update!

Thank you. Mine didn't show up after clearing cache and data. I rebooted and there is was.
My question is that the sideload file on Google's download page is approximately 960 MB while the OTA notification I just received is about 567MB. Are they the same?
Thanks

Obviously they're not the same. It seems Google only needed to update your particular rom the 567 MB. Were you on the beta?

Non chinese View 20 does NOT update anymore.. (still march patch)

So there is 14 Huawei and honor modelos Who recieve the Magic ui 2.1 emui 9.1 and the one that we have is not supporting It. It even have only the march patch, how can we update It ir change the region to china? I don't mind installing gapps trough APK.
If you know methods for unlocking It is good. There is bugs for this phone like the AI for me if the camera does not work.
After resetting HiCare and setting it up in the Chinese region before requesting updates, I can confirm that this method NO LONGER works.
They probably will roll out the OTA with May Security Patch soon. I already gotten mine 2 days ago. 9.0.1.169 C636 Region.

How did you get the update? Did you use the system update option from the settings app, via HiCare, or using HiSuite on a PC? I'm using PCT-L29 and it still says 140 is the newest.
From Settings,Ota Update.
Security Patch from May.
I am from Austria with Moschino Edition,8/256GB

My pct-l29 is not updated since March, will it receive Magic UI 2.1?
My PCT-L29 still doesn't seem to detect the latest OTA, if I boot to recovery and check for the latest version it will attempt to download 9.0.1.137. I ended up downloading version 170 and flashing it via OTG.
Weirdly enough I was previously on 140 and it wasn't Play Store certified, but after installing 170 the Play Store certification was restored.

Everything was reset. OTG updates will always force a factory reset when complete. I had to backup my phone to an external USB storage device and then restore it after the update. Unfortunately, the backup doesn't actually save everything so I had to spend 3 hours afterwards manually restoring whatever wasn't included in the backup.

Is the 170 update a significant improvement? The biggest glitch I found with 138 compared with 125 is not being able to use my Bluetooth earphones to initiate Google Assistant when the screen was off. Maybe I was doing something wrong.
My update showed up in Software Update this evening. It included the May security patch.

170 added a few themes and included the May 2019 security patches. I noticed that since updating, all Discord notifications stopped working no matter how I changed the settings. Completely uninstalling it and then reinstalling seemed to fix it.
