Well done. You are great.

Cheers!

You sure this is for 11.0.2.2.IN11AA?
Because it looks like 11.0.1.1.IN11AA to me, unless I'm doing something wrong (I am new to this).
Cheers
EDIT: Dw, I'm stupid

I had lost root since updating so was looking for a stock boot image for 11.0.2.2 to patch in order to once again restore root by the fastboot method. (It is generally recommended that you patch your own stock boot image.) So, I downloaded your stock boot image which was 98 MB. In the past, stock boot images for the OnePlus 8 Pro have been 16 to 17 MB, so I am wondering if the 98 MB file labeled as stock is actually a stock boot image. Also, both files are exactly the same size so I'm guessing that they are both patched boot images.

To be precise, its boot partition. Yes, boot may size 16mb but partition - not.
And so that's why you you can't say by size which file have patched boot.

Thanks for the clarification. After the past couple of updates, in order to get root back I used the Magisk Manager to patch a stock boot image that I found online which was about 16 MB and then installed via fastboot on my PC. Using your 98 MB stock boot image, would I perform the operation the same way by downloading it to my phone and patching it with Magisk Manager before use fastboot?

Yes, magisk manager can patch both boot and "boot-in-partition"

P.S.
I don't recommend to directly flash patched boot.img to boot_a and boot_b partitions, because smth could go wrong. It mostly works for 99,9% times, but it's better to use magisk direct install method.

Do you have the link for the 11.0.2.2AA full ota?

Where is the full OTA Update for this??

I don't understand how you can have the boot patched for OTA 11.0.2.2AA when the update itself hasn't been released yet !?

Honor 7X Oreo Stock Recovery

Hi, I manually updated my honor 7x (BND AL10 INDIAN) to EMUI 8 following the other post in this forum and after that I went on to flash TWRP recovery again from another post "complete_twrp_ramdisk.img" so that I could take full Nand backups and what not. But Here's the problem, When I try to flash the stock recovery back "BND_RECOVERY_NOcheck" which I flashed during upgrading to EMUI 8, it says "size of image is large than target device"
I tried this using boot fastboot command "fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery.img" and also using the TWRP. It doesn't work either way. So I'm basically stuck with TWRP. The reason I want stock recovery is because
1. I can install OTA UPDATES on EMUI 8 (I actually got one)
2. I may want to just be on complete stock like locked bootloader, sock recovery etc...
Could any one help?? Maybe I need the right stock recovery file ?
BTW It's my first post ever so please go easy if I did any mistakes.
Could you share your twrp? Thanks!

"BND_RECOVERY_NOcheck" is nouget stock recovery.
Oreo update replaces all the partitions, including the recovery that you flashed in order to install the update.
The stock recovery can be extracted from "update.app" , the one inside the oreo "updateL22.zip"

Hi, I'm downloading that UPDATEL22.ZIP right now and Can I extract this with any unzip/unrar program? What will be the name of that recovery? is it going to be "recovery"? The thing is I've never extracted anything from a ROM so I have not idea.

you should already have the update.zip.
use same one you "manualy" installed.
winrar did not work for me but 7-zip did.
there is also rom extractor built into "multi-tool" and stand alone extractor around here some where.
I found it here
the name is just like the twrp you flashed and just like the partition that you flashed. (recovery_ramdisk.img)

I dont know.
The new way to boot to recovery was written in other thread as "hold both volume buttons & power button"
not sure if it was a problem with extraction or not, but attached is the recovery I extracted. do not have it installed. I dont even have oreo installed., I'm still pulling files together and reading the update-scripts and trying to convince myself if it is worth trying it.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=262391
I have now jumped on board and did oreo conversion on L24, then flashed RR. I went and installed the oreo recovery, then back to this stock recovery. It worked fine for me.

Hey bro thefe are too many files there will it flash through fastboot or twrp and how to flash one by one pls help me
Hello all,
thanks for all the info in this thread.
I bricked my Honox 7x (BND-LC21) by trying to go Oreo.
The installation went halfway through, but now I can't complete (missing info howto flash bootloader / kernel) and I also can't go back as the partition layout has already changed to oreo style.
Steps done so far:
- unlocked boot loader
- installed twrp
- extract system image and recovery image from oreo update zip
getting the phone in fastboot mode i can successfully run
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk recovery_ramdisk.img (i can also flash old recoveries this way, but none of them will successfully boot into recovery mode)
fastboot flash system system.img
either way, the system will not boot afterwards.
how do I manually flash bootloader / kernel on the oreo partition layout?
erecovery and hisuite won't recover my phone either...
Any hints appreciated

[Rooted] Pixel 2XL and System Autoupdates?

I really don't have a clue how to get auto updates via System Updates on my rooted Pixel 2 XL (Pie, Magisk 18.1).
If I check updates it replies that I already have the latest version (still from February 2019).
Is it possible to get updates via system menu on a rooted phone?
P. S. Sorry if I've missed a right thread for this topic)

No, you will have to manually update on a rooted phone. It requires a computer but only takes a couple minutes.

It will not wipe your phone as long as you remove the -w. Magisk and Twrp will have to be reinstalled but that's an easy process. Fastboot boot the twrp.img file. That will get you back in to twrp temporary so you can flash the twrp and magisk zip files.

Mostly personal preference.. if you use the side load method you need to download the ota file instead of the full image. I personally prefer flashing the whole image in fastboot. In my experience there is less room for user error but that's my opinion.

Does anyone know where i can find the newest security December 1, 2019 update for the g7 play? i've searched online and cannot find it anywhere. My phone keeps reminding me of a failed update so i went looking for the new one. Do i re-flash the phone to stock and update it that way before re-rooting it or wait until someone post the newest update in the mirrors repository? What do you guys suggest?

I have the same model with boost mobile...do you need help rooting it? I just followed the instructions for the boot.img magisk patch but when you patch it make sure you select beta in magisk and in advanced settings make sure all are checked especially recovery mode before you patch and lastly when you reboot, reboot to recovery every time or the root will not stick...that's something no one mentioned when i was trying to root mine. I had to research the problem of why the root wasn't sticking. When you reboot to recovery it will stay on a blank screen and then vibrate, that's normal. It does that before it boots up. Once it's booted, check to make sure you have root by opening the magisk app, you should see both green check marks and thanks for you help with how to update.

thanks, I followed the instructions as well to patch boot.img and use fastboot with magisk_patched.img, but when I rebooted, I only got the xxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxxx-xxxxxx code and then no vibration and nothing else - seems stuck and just looping at this point
what do you mean select beta in magisk?
what version of apk did you create the patched img from? 7.4.0?
and yes, i made sure i checked all the advanced options (including recovery) before creating the patched img file

when you go in the magisk manager, select the three lines at the top left and go to settings/update channel and select beta....if you don't you will loop. i used the latest magisk version which is 7.4.0 so yes you're using the correct one. your suppose to see those codes it's normal, if the phone does not vibrate, then that means that it didn't work.

Thanks, I enabled beta in magisk and tried it again and it still did not vibrate after showing the codes - just rebooting in a loop as before.
What size is your magisk_patched.img and boot.img files?
Here are mine:
33,554,432 boot.img
18,103,592 magisk_patched.img
You can see after the patching that the size of the boot image drops almost in half - is that normal?
I transfer these files using adb push and pull as I heard MTP transfers could corrupt the files.
Anyhow, since we're on the same build, can you post up your boot and patched img somewhere so I can try them?

Did you repatch the stock boot.img before flashing again? The magisk patch is different if not on beta and the magisk recovery is not selected, that's why it's probably still not working.
also make sure that you're patching the correct boot.img from your stock firmware that you're on, it creates problems if you're not. I can't upload my .imgs for some reason and you're correct it didn't vibrate the first time i was successful, but after i have to reboot the phone i would reboot to recovery so when the phone boots the root sticks, that's when it will vibrate.
@mtmtumbo I apologize I haven't been on here in a couple of days, any update on rooting your g7 play?

also make sure that you're patching the correct boot.img from your stock firmware that you're on, it creates problems if you're not. I can't upload my .imgs for some reason and you're correct it didn't vibrate the first time i was successful, but after i have to reboot the phone i would reboot to recovery so when the phone boots the root sticks, that's when it will vibrate.

happy new year all
yes i re-patched the stock boot.img before flashing, magisk was on beta and yes the third option in advanced for recovery was selected before i patched the boot.img
after i saw the codes and it was looping, i rebooted the phone to recovery but no difference
i'm also having a problem flashing twrp without just using fastboot boot twrp.img - flashing it with fastboot flash doesn't work (using dtbo.img first to avoid the black screen)
btw you can use mega.nz to upload your img's - give it a shot and post the URL here
if it matters, this is the ROM I'm using:

Happy New Year man.....i believe i figured out why you're still boot looping, did you reboot back into the bootloader after you flashed the patched.img?
edit: when your doing twrp, you have to boot into it before installing it to the ramdisk. there's a how to in this forum here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g7-play/how-to/how-to-successfully-install-twrp-g7-play-t3979701
the GSI's don't work for me so i'm waiting for a legit custom build before installing twrp again

Question [Latest OOS C.44 EU] Rooting via Magisk/fastboot not working

Hello all,
yesterday I've updated to latest OOS LE2123_11.C.44_1440_202201182111 (Android 12). I was previously on root, so I've updated the phone via full 4GB OTA through the system updater.
Everything was fine until I've tried to root by following these steps:
ATTENTION: if you're a Googler and willing to root the OPO 9 Pro, don't use the steps below, because they lead to a soft-bricked phone! (at least, for me)
Download the full OTA via Oxygen Updater
Extract the boot.img (192MB) via Payload Dumper (and I was confused, because the previous Android 11 boot.img was exactly the half in size)
Let the phone update itself
Throw the boot.img inside Magisk and create a patched boot.img
Flash the pathed boot image via fastboot with "fastboot flash boot Magisk_patched_blabla.img"
The phone was refusing to boot, as it was automatically booting in Fastboot mode.
So I've reflashed the patched IMG file, and the phone switched to Qualcomm Crashdump mode
Then, don't ask me how, I've managed to get it back to fastboot mode. Searched XDA for a clean and tested boot.img, understood that the boot contains 2 slots A/B, set the active boot slot to A, flashed the boot.img downloaded before, and the phone turned back to life.
So...what am I doing wrong? Maybe everything?
What are the correct steps to root the phone?
Thank you in advance
you don't have to flash the magisk_patched.img but instead boot it with : "fastboot boot magisk_patched.img"
Then you can install magisk by it's manager and reboot the phone.
Here is everything explained: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-magisk-unlock-root-keep-root-oos-12-0-0-0.4252373/
OS Update with install to inactive slot in magisk works too.

I follow those steps I can get the boot and install alpha apk after it's install completed to reboot, phone gets bricked and stuck in fastboot.
Wait for the new Magisk, it's going to support Android 12.

How come some people is actually running on the rooted OOS C.44 EU? Are they using a particular version of a patched boot.img that's floating underground?

I've clickbaited like a moron on the UPDATE/REBOOT button after OTA, and I've missed the opportunity to do it *before* rebooting the phone... then followed the steps I've posted and knocked out of the door...

Your post doesn't specify which version of magisk you're using, unless I overlooked it. If you're not using alpha already, use alpha. And make sure you also patch the boot.img with alpha and not a different version than you're trying to install. A couple of people have said canary works now (at least for C40), but I can't confirm whether it still works on C44. Stable doesn't work (yet).

I've tried to use this method but when I try to flash using the 'fastboot boot magisk_boot.img' I get the error "failed - command boot not recognized"
ADB shows the 'sending' command but then nothing happens other than error mentioned above. I've tried to use both the patched and unpatched images but same error. No idea how to proceed from here

Question le2125_11_c.61 OOS12 root

My phone updated to le2125_11_c.61 and I can't find a suitable boot.img to flash magisk. The OTA update has a partial boot image so that fails. Does anyone have a copy of the boot.img for this version, or is there another method I should use?

Just use the C.48 patched image, boot (don't flash), and then direct install Magisk. Should work. If it doesn't, no harm done since you didn't flash it.

That was a nice thought, but unfortunately it didn't work. The phone hangs when booting both the magisk'd and regular C.48 image.
I did fastboot boot boot.img. Is that correct? I'm a bit out of practice.

Yeah that's correct. Bummer that it didn't work. Give me a few to download and patch it.

Well unfortunately I have downloaded two different python scripts trying to patch the full OTA with the incremental OTA and they are both failing so I guess we will have to wait for someone else to do it because I don't have the expertise to fix this.
As long as your bootloader is unlocked, You could try booting (again not flashing) into TWRP and then try sideloading Magisk (after renaming .apk to .zip) ?

You can't boot into TWRP because it doesn't work on OOS12. It crash dumps.
Someone who is rooted needs to install the OTA and pull the image unless there is a tool I haven't come across that works better for incremental OTA extraction.
The incremental C.61 OTA (downloaded thru Oxygen Updater) ins't getting installed.
The oxygen updater app isn't listing the file and the About device Local Install is throwing Verification failed.
Any idea to fix this ?
LE2121
Thanks

Try using the MSM tool for your device, press F8, then select boot_a or boot_b depending on what slot you're in. To check your slot, reboot to fastboot and issue the command fastboot getvar current-slot.
You should be able to then patch the boot.img and flash it normally.

Getting this phone to actually boot into MSM mode is a nightmare. I either end up in fastboot or it boots up normally. I got it to show up exactly once, but it timed out and booted up before I got the readback going.

I got it! I managed to readback boot_b using the password "oneplus". I can't seem to find where it saved the file though.
It's in C:\ aka your root drive

That's a cool trick. I didn't know about that one.
Successfully rooted! Huge thanks to razercortex and others in this thread who helped.
Here is a download of both the unmodified and magisk patched boot.img for e2125_11_c.61 global.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/bpoe31lt022rigj/e2125_11_c.61%20global%20boot.img.zip?dl=1
I booted the patched image via fastboot and then did a magisk direct install. After updating the safetynet fix module and running props I am passing safeteynet. I had to restore props to defaults and then apply the android 11 fingerprint for this phone, otherwise it would fail CTS.

You should be able to just boot (don't flash) the 2125 rooted image they posted and then use Magisk to direct install.

I have an LE2125 on 11_C.61 and when I fastboot the posted patched boot.img file I get Magisk Installed: N/A in Magisk Manager. I even patched the posted boot.img myself in Magisk and get Magisk Installed: N/A when fastbooting that patched boot.img. Any ideas?

Did you go to try to direct install? I haven't actually tried C.61 yet, I've got stuff to do this weekend and can't have my phone in an experimental state when I'm trying to call and Uber to get around, so I can't test it myself.
