Log-in Issues Logging in the app
Login to XDA in Default Mobile browser.
Change your password if it's been a while,
older passwords have been causing issues with the app.
Download the app.
Open app
Tap Get Started.
Tap LOG IN
Tap Authorize
Select Just Once has worked best for me.
That should be it.

Browser issue
Troubleshooting Sign-in
If log-in fails and you are seeing 2 apps to choose from like this.
Spoiler: Screenshot
Try selecting the 2nd app, it may take several tries before log-in is successful.
If sign-in fails and you selected Always, you will need to go to settings/apps and remove Open by default setting.
If the app will not stay open or gets stuck, try rebooting the device.
If you can not log in, try selecting the guest option and sign in inside the app.

Basically clear the app defaults, then login, Authorize then pick one of the "Xda app" to open. Do not set as default just yet. If it loops back, login again, this time pick the other "xda app". It should log you in.

[Tutorial]Where Is Everything In The New Forum Style?

I thought I'd take it upon myself to create a thread to help everybody find where everything is in the new forum style...
This is not the thread to post bugs found in the new style. That thread is located here.
Where are the page links?
They're where they normally are:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
or you can use the ones on the left hand side at the top of the threads:
Where is the link to the User Control Panel?
In the navigation bar at the top:
Where's the search box?
Up in the top right hand corner of the forums:
How do I get back to the news page/XDA Portal?
It's in the Nav Bar, second link:
Where is the New Thread button?
Same place it was:
Where is the Sub-Forum Search?
It's at the top, right-hand corner of the Threads section:
What are the links with the Gears and Box with the arrow?
The gears one is the advanced search and the box with the arrow is the Log Out button:
What are the "Forum Tools"?
The Forum Tools is a drop down menu that consists of links to Post a New Thread, Mark This Forum Read, Subcribe to This Forum, and View Parent Forum:
Where's the Donate(to XDA) button?
Right dead center of the NavBar:
How do I change the style to the new one or revert back to the old one?
Scroll down all the way to the bottom, and click the arrow on the box that has the name of the style. Like this:
These ones are courtesy of DaveShaw
Q: Where are the forum rules?
A: At the top of every page, next to the twitter and facebook links.
Q: Where does the "News" button take you?
A: The portal.
Q: Where is the Member List?
A: Very bottom-right of every page.
Q: How do I view the admins / moderators of the board - I used to use the "View forum leaders" button at the bottom of the Forum Index.
A: Same place as the Member List - very bottom right.
Q: How do I know know a thread's got unread posts?
A: It will be bold - same as the old theme.
Q: How do I know a forum has unread posts?
A: The (>) next to will be White for "Read" and Brown for "Unread".
Hint: Did you know you can collapse the forums on the Index? Just click the "^" at the right of the forum name and it will be collapsed and saved. Everytime you visit XDA the index will be considerably smaller.
Hint: Did you know that the "find your device..." box can navigate you to any forum (not sub forum) on the site. This is now on every page.
Another Hint: Don't like the big front page? Try "Compact View" from the Index page (at the top in the Breadcrumb bar).
Let me know if any of you guys need any more help with/finding links and stuff..

Web Applications/ Games

Ive been trying to make a good list of web apps and games for the KIN and I would like to see what you guys have. leave a comment with links and a short description. Thanks!
Heres Mine:
1.http://www.playtouchgames.com
2.http://www.apple.com/webapps
Both of these have good web applications and games for HTML enabled devices with Internet browesrs.
webpage/app archive
I made a webpage that has a list of some kin compatible webpages and web apps (facebook, translate, ebay, minesweeper, calculator, etc...)
AND each link pulls up a splash page before loading that can be pinned to the home screen so:
A. It loads a splash for each app
B. The pinned app icons are more appealing than if you just pinned the webpage itself.
Also, the site itself has a splash for pinning to the homescreen as well.
Each splash loads for 6 seconds before redirecting to the page/app.

Finally someone did this! You should make an apps section and a separate section for games. Also another suggestion, maybe make the online Web app store ui a little more tile like the kind os,other than that I love it could you make splash images and add these too:
-Youtube
-Amazon
-Xbox Live Mobile
-Evernote

Okay. So ive done a MAJOR update to the page. Ive:
Added Outlook & Amazon to the app list.
Redesigned the page and added jQuery Pivot metro script to make it operate somewhat Windows Phone like.
Added icons by the app names.
Redesigned the App Home splash (will require re-pinning to home to update icon)
As you can see in the image below, the page is now very app like. Clicking on each header (Tools, More, Apps) will bring the category into view, while hiding the other categories, and does so with a swiping motion somewhat like that of Windows Phone.
Here you can see the new splash screen. Better, no?
And here is the updated icon when you re-pin the splash page to the home menu.
hope you guys like it!
(PS: Youtube last i checked is only compatible with the KIN TWOm, Evernote does not have an actual javascript based web app, and XBOX Live Mobile is a Windows Phone {And now iOS} app, so that is why i did not add them to the site.)
Link changed
Hey, so my original host site has a sensitive (and flawed) spam filter, and thought my page was "Automatically Signed Up" (aka a computer created it not me) and is "Suspended". I sent a help ticket notifying them this was a mistake, but according to their hosting forums, dozens of people had this happen and you cant get it un-suspended w/o paying for their premium service. so its safe to say the site wont be back up there.
BUT WAIT... there is good news. I'm hosting it on another service. the site is up and running. You will have to re-pin apps, but it works:
http://appcenter.zxq.net
Also, i will be redesigning some of the splash pages (for ebay, facebook, & calculator, for example) so dont pin those just yet. :fingers-crossed:
is anyone finding use in this? or is the phone truly dead?
i mean, i worked real hard on the site.
added more "apps" (web pages)
*sigh*

why thanks! I am glad to know someone is getting use from it! :laugh: and ill be sure to keep my eye out for any other KIN 2 compatible websites to add to the page!

Yes, its because the image URL is linked from attachments. I don't know how, but the URL (in attachments) changes from time-to-time. ie,
the original url : http://dl.xda-developers.com/attachdl/69808bc1673cb4d05bfb5048e208c9b0/506d83a1/1/3/7/4/9/4/2/asd.jpg
Now the URL is : http://dl.xda-developers.com/attachdl/fb23e0b5ec01b7962ec67603493c4dae/506da0aa/1/3/7/4/9/4/2/asd.jpg
So it would be better if the image is uploaded in Image hosting servers like Imgur or Imageshack or even dropbox etc.

the original url : http://dl.xda-developers.com/attachdl/69808bc1673cb4d05bfb5048e208c9b0/506d83a1/1/3/7/4/9/4/2/asd.jpg
Now the URL is : http://dl.xda-developers.com/attachdl/fb23e0b5ec01b7962ec67603493c4dae/506da0aa/1/3/7/4/9/4/2/asd.jpg
So it would be better if the image is uploaded in Image hosting servers like Imgur or Imageshack or even dropbox etc.

Not the correct way.
Don't simply post thanks etc. try to ask/answer questions in your device's q&a /general section. Useless posts will get deleted eventually.

[Free App] Redditopia: reddit app for Windows

I've been working on this Reddit app for Windows 8. I call it Redditopia.
It started as a quick weekend project to teach myself the WinRT programming model. But after I bought my first tablet(Surface RT), I kept craving that one more feature and have now spent more weekends(and nights) on this than originally planned.
It has enough features now and I feel confident in introducing it to this audience. Give it a try and do let me know if you like it.
App download link: http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/en-US/app/redditopia/3281101b-3774-4700-b5e8-6c78550d36cc

Same thing I liked about it. I have 2 other reddit apps and so far this is my favorite. Will rate soon when I have my pro. Great job man! :good:
Edit: Just hit an external link and was pleasantly surprised. This app just keeps looking better
Multiple account support would be nice. Also if I toggle the NSFW switch, why do I have to confirm for each photo/video?!

will consider adding it in a future release.

So you can keep browsing in NSFW mode and still not get surprised.
I'll consider adding a setting to disable that warning.

[App] Kickstarter Browser

Hello fellow windows developer.
I guess I'm not a frequent poster but I need your help!
I need your feedback on my latest Windows 8 app: Kickstarter Browser. The thing is, I just got it release just to have a initial release but I need feedback on it. It's easy to feel satisfied with your app because you are familiar with it. I do have a general idea where I want to go with the app (adding twitter share, add favorites) but as far as GUI I'm not really sure. So any critic is welcome to just post here, perhaps even screenshots if there is anything specific you want to point out. If you have good things to say you can also review it windows 8 store. (Please do not post reviews/low stars saying it's bad, remember this is just my first release and I will improve it over the coming months using your feedback and then you can give a proper review ) If you give me feedback which I'll use to improve the app I will, if you want, add you to a thank you list in the App description.
As far as adding, login/pledging from the apps etc. there are no official Kickstarter API and the API I'm using is Very restricted.
Anyway, please give me feedback and I will be very thankful.

hmm, well I tried to install your app but the MS store is insisting that I am not connected to the internet, it worked fine 2 days ago on the same connection and I am clearly on the internet right now. I'll have to takes its suggestion of trying again later.
Picture looks alright but I cant see myself using the app if I'm honest, I just dont browse kickstarter. If I can get it to download I will pop back with something more useful to you

Thank you for trying and thank you for giving me you 2 cents on the screenshot, hopefully you will be able to download it soon. I am at hard work to bring another release of this app within two-three weeks, but I do hope some more people would give me their opinions.
Update
I've made an update for this app. Though I have not received a single piece of feedback.
This time I bring the ability to see videos in the app and to search through descriptions of projects to find specific words (This is something the normal kickstarter.com website cannot do). I also updated to GUI to look much better and fixed bugs, you can find the app update here:
Please download, try it and give me some feedback.
Thanks.
Nice! Just gonna give some friendly feedback here: first, it would be nice to have the spotlight words in the top-left clickable, so I could select technology or whatever. Second, the tiles for each result could use a little more modern. By this I mean separate each tile a little, get rid of the rounded effect, and maybe make the background for each tile the project picture. Other than that, maybe some more background colors on the app would help. But really, nice work!
Thanks

Wow, thank you. It was very observant of you to notice the kind of "Rounded effect". I have taken your advises into consideration for my next release. I will be releasing a Halloween update within the next few days and will post here when it is certified and live. Thank you SO MUCH. You are the first to give me some suggestions, and I've asked for help on quite a few forums.
The next update will have many new features I hope you all will enjoy.
Update!
Well, you could say I really buckled up last night and started my code, because here is the halloween update!
I focused on customization and user experience this time. The change log follows:
-Changes in version 1.2.0-
Big GUI update
Multitask support added (view video while using other apps)
Added tool tips
Added FAQ to project description
Significantly improved search times when searching through descriptions (by 20 percent)
Search now list projects as they are found (not when search is done)
Added settings for spotlight
- It's now possible to add/remove and enable/disable individual spotlight categories (found under settings)
Added the possibility to to favorite projects
Added favorite page (accessed by swiping down from top or right click the top of the screen)
Removed crash bug when no internet connection
Anyway I hope you all will download it and try it (and tell me what you think). I will be taking a one week break from coding Kickstarter Browser to recharge my batteries and get inspired to do some more work.
Update
I hate how it feels like I'm spamming/bumping my own thread but I just want to keep you guys updated and hopefully get more feedback from you guys!
So I've just got the post-Halloween update certified. Change log:
Revamped start screen
Added playback controls (Play, stop, mute, video time bar)
Added video full screen playback
Added sorting projects in search
Added backgrounds
Added browsing categories in search screen/start screen
Squashed bugs
So this is the first update based on feedback from users and feedback I've asked for from various forums. One point of feedback was really important. The user felt that when you first start the app you are welcomed with a screen with a huge gap in the middle. So I made the middle part dedicated for browsing through categories and all the searching should be done through the search screen. Another user told me that the app doesn't bring anything new to the table in terms of searching and finding, so I added more search options. The third big feedback I got was that the app was boring, colorless and not nice to look at, so I reworked the layouts and made it possible for the user to change background color/add background image. The last feedback I did take into consideration for this update was that the search screen was a bit confusing and that the video playback lacked features, so I rearranged the search screen a bit and added video playback features (it now has play, stop, mute, full screen and a timeline)
So you see, I use the feedback I get to make the app better, please keep it coming and I will possibly implement it.
Thanks
Live tile update
I guess you all know what this post mean by now.
I've just release update 1.2.5. Inspired by another app this update brings the ability to create live tiles of projects to have them on the system's start menu screen and keep track of projects. Change log:
Added more backgrounds
Added ability to create live tiles of projects
Added all subcategories to browsing
Refined browsing
Fixed bugs
Added Help/FAQ to top appbar
Moved settings to top appbar
Thanks
This is the last update this year. Well, it's a few updates since I last posted but I thought I might as well post now
-Changes in version 1.2.7-
Revamped most pages for a more unified look
Fixed FAQ/Description load bug due to changes of kickstarter.com
Removed "find atleast xx projects" slider
-Changes in version 1.2.6-
Separated browse and search, added browse screen
Made search faster
Fixed bug where background color wouldn't load
Many minor bug fixes and clean up code
