Qualcomm Diagnostic Mode code - POCO M3 Guides, News, & Discussion

To enter Diagnostic Mode dial:
Code:
*#*#25327337#*#*
In QPST phone is identified as "KOMORTA_H (0)" (I don't know what that means).
But I was able to do *.qcn and *.xqcn backup with correct IMEI numbers inside those files.

According to https://github.com/MiCode/Xiaomi_Kernel_OpenSource, kernel source for Redmi Note 9 4G/POCO M3 has a base tag of LA.UM.8.15.r1-06600-KAMORTA.0. This info might be related to what you have found.

Does this mean that qualcomm EDL mode works freely and that possible hard bricks can be fixed by the user himself or as other Xiaomi devices there is a need for authorization (which is never granted to the user)?

I don't think so. I only tested making a backup. I didn't try to write anything on the phone and I STRONGLY advise against that.
Ps: I'm new to Qualcomm ecosystem so take what I write with caution.

Archos 50 Cesium/Bush Eluma B2 - any hope?

This is my first modern Windows Mobile (I used Windows Mobile 11 years a go) and it seems Microsoft was crippled the operating system.
Model: Bush Eluma, Windows 10 native (rebranded Archos 50 Cesium)
Specification:
Snapdragon 210
Adreno 304
1 GB RAM
16GB ROM
MicroSD support up to 128GB
5" 720x1280 IPS screen
4G LTE

8MP rear/2MP front with flash
2100mAh battery
Spec. Sheet: archos [dot] com/corporate/press/press_releases/EN_ARCHOS_50Cesium_50eHelium.pdf
What I'm trying to do: Interop-unlock
What I've managed to do: Deploy apps, such as Root Tool and vcREG
Where I'm stuck: Setting the value for my model of phone - I have no idea where to look
I hope I've provided information in a clear format. I'd very much appreciate some help or feedback in order to interop-unlock this model
System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo
PhoneManufacturer
Value = "True" (I think this used to just say "ARCHOS")
Thank you for reading.
Was there any progress made with this? Looking to interop unlock phone too so any help would be great
you tried this?

Sorry to kinda hijack this thread, but I have this device and struggling to find any other owners. My understanding is that the archos 50 cesium is the windows version of the 50e helium. I have an emmc dump of the 50e helium, if you cant already tell where im going with this, I want to flash this dump to my eluma b2 but cant get qfil or thor2 to do this. Can anyone help? or even know if this is possible?

I say just enjoy the W10 phone while you can, or if you really want Android, go buy that model online some where.
It is not as simple as it sounds. You would need at least a flash programmer for the SoC in that phone which usually the manufacturers never release. Depending on the format of the dump you might need other flashers or files to understand how the Archos 50 eMMC is structured or to utilize them in the flashing process. You would also want to be able to put the phone into EDL mode. If you can manage to even boot the flash programmer and initialize a flash of the phone there is also high risk of bricking it. Because you would be flashing partitions that were not signed for that phone/SoC. So I am not sure if you would also need to unlock the boot loader on it or not...sounds like you would. IMO it would be best to unlock the bootloader so you can backup the current layout of the phone. This as far as I know is not possible, so I would just stop there.
I know there are some threads in other forums where they are trying to do this with the IDOL 4s, and maybe a couple devices in the past have worked out to be able to do this. However it pretty much hinges on unlocking the boot loader. Also from what I know once you flash it like that and even if device survives (it boots, the IMEI is in tact, etc.) you cannot revert it back or it is pretty much impossible to go back without bricking it.
user154 said:
It doesnt really matter if the device is rendered unusable, it is quite a long way down the list of backup devices I have, it was more for the fun of trying to do it. The device is the exact same as its android counterpart (hardware wise) this is what made me think it should theoretically be possible. The dump I have was made with infinitybox, I have managed to create the required rawprogram.xml and patch.xml from the gpt binary contained within the dump. I have also found a couple of flash programmers for the soc (prog_emmc_firehose_8909.mbn, and a couple of manufacturer specific ones, pretty sure iv got the filename slightly wrong there). I have been able to boot the device to EDL mode using a cable, however sahara fails to load the flash programmer to the device. I didnt think the bootloader would need to be unlocked to flash the device seeing as the device is in EDL mode and what Im trying to flash is signed as is just the dump from the android counterpart. Maybe this is where im going wrong. Also Im working on the assumption the IMEI will be wiped as I plan to flash persist.img from dump too, I thought trying to keep the partition where it is stored in windows 10 and repartition the rest of the emmc to the same as the android counterpart might make things more complicated than they already are. Also IMEI can sometimes be quite simple to repair on certain devices (A lot more simple than what Im trying to acheieve here anyway). Can you point me in the right direction as to where I can find instructions to unlock the bootloader of this device? for some reason it doesnt get recognised by wpinternals (In any mode, EDL, standard flash mode, no idea what thats called on windows haha, or booted normally)

Sounds like you're on the right path. I'm not 100% sure you need to unlock the boot loader, however it would definitely make things easier as you could dump partitions from the phone as it is and even possibly enable mass storage mode. I am unsure where you would look to unlock that phones boot loader other than here. The flash programmers you have may not be built for the Windows Phone eMMC and why they are not booting.
Hi, this is quite interesting for me as I am struggling with 2 Cesium 40 devices stuck in Qualcomm download mode. I thought I managed to extract msimage.mbn and hex binary file from ffu, converted the hex file to hex.hex and added first and last-but-one lines. Although there was no way to escape from Qualcomm mode. Thor recognizes the Qualcomm deveices, but tells me to stop QFIL operations, even if there is no QFIL. Any ideas?

If you have qpst/qfil installed on your PC, and have used them recently. The services might still be running. Just hunt for them in task manager and kill them and run thor2 again. See if that helps.
Worked a treat! Much obliged.

change imei

Is there any possibility to change imei on Redmi Note 8 Pro. I already've rooted and twrp'd it.
Surely there's a way, but should you actually do it? Of course not.
Why not? There are good reasons to do it!

Yes, you can and it's very easy.
This tutorial shows how to change the IMEI with and without root: naijaknowhow.net/how-to-change-imei-of-all-mtk-android-devices/
Since it's MTK sure there is a lot of ways to do it but are you sure?
Changing IMEI is illegal in most countries / will break your ability to call, sending / receiving SMSs.
Except if yours was null/invalid (multiple zeros) and you want to change it back.
@saurik
Doesn't work, very old tools, not that easy like you guys write.

Have you tried maui meta?
Version 10.1816.0.1 just says boot, phone turned off, nothing happens anymore. I boot manually nothing happens in the tool
1920 the same and I got connection with the Redmi via W10, I can for example upload files onto Redmi
This is the right tool. I just rewrote my IMEIs with it. Make sure you have device drivers installed or it will fail to connect.

Have you followed instructions? It is nearly the same in every video for IMEI changing.
On the Redmi Note 8 Pro, If you ever lose your IMEI and have a full TWRP backup, restore the following partitions:
- nvcfg
- nvdata
- nvram
- persist
- protect_f
- protect_s
Most notable protect_f and protect_s. This apparently contains modem files. Restoring the others fixed an issue where it didn't ask for MIUI account login after factory reset.
m1906g7g this is my device, maybe I need other drivers? I tried so many. For example "mt67xx USB Vcom" and others.
Doesnt work, of course with Win10 I had to disable "check driver signature". I disabled, that is ok now, but still, which drivers do I need? I use Modem Meta 1920 and it always stands on "Boot..."
CANNOT FIND THE PRELOADER/BROM COM PORT to boot ...pls check USB Driver Version...
When I put preloader USB Driver in Device-Manager, then it says error 10

Just curious? What would be the benefit if any to changing your IMEI?
Not seeing a point to it. I had an old Lenovo K3 note an from time to time my IMEI would dissapear an I had a devil of a time getting SMS or calling to work when it did.
Luckily some kid on YouTube invented a software that replaced the default IMEI. An only then the cell worked.
So if removing it causes that many issues then why change it?
hello
yes there is a way.
first of all you have box like UMT Pro.
then you can. its complicated but you can
and you have to flash ENG firameware.

Redmi Note 8 locked, need help with unlocking/backup

Hello!
I need help regarding a Redmi Note 8 that no longer accepts the correct pattern and is locked.
I'm looking for a solution that would allow me to either unlock my phone without data loss, or make a backup of the phone's internal storage on an sd card/pc before hard resetting.
The device is not rooted and I don't have custom recovery installed. USB Debugging is on, but my laptop is not authorized.
With Adb, the device is detected but unauthorized. It seems to be detected normally in fastboot mode. I was able to get my laptop to detect it in recovery mode by clicking on "Connect with MIAssistant" while it was plugged in, but only in sideload mode. I also somehow managed to get into safe mode, but I used the stock screen lock, so unless there's something else that can be done in that mode, it doesn't seem useful in this situation.
I tried the actual MIAssistant software but it tells me to update my device before connecting. From what I found, this is because it doesn't even work with phones running Android 6.0 Marshmallow or above, so that seems to be a dead-end, unfortunately. Downloaded from here, updated to version 3.2.1.3111. If there's a newer version that could support my device, even an untranslated one, I would love to know, but I couldn't find a working one.
I had some ideas that could potentially solve my problem, but couldn't find a way to actually execute them, so here they are in case someone out there who knows more than me could help me with one of them.
1, Is there any way I could authorize my laptop for USB Debugging without being able to accept the prompt on screen?
2, Is there a way to make a backup of the internal storage of my phone in fastboot/sideload mode?
3, Is there a way to get adb to detect this device normally in recovery mode, instead of in sideload mode?
4, Is there a way to get my device into mtp/ptp mode instead of charging mode when connected to a PC without USB Debugging so I can copy my files?
5, Here's a thread I found that seems promising, although it's old. Could I somehow use this, or a similar method on Redmi Note 8? The Recovery Mode is much more limiting on this device, unfortunately, so I can't exactly follow this tutorial. Are there alternatives that can be done in adb fastboot/sideload mode, perhaps?
6, If I am forced to hard reset, is there any software out there that could recover at least some of the deleted data afterwards, or is everything lost in case of a reset?
I am open to new ideas not listed above, as well. I am not a very advanced user so I probably missed some things.
Thank you so much for any answer in advance!

Updated with extra info in case anyone else has any ideas.
Even if you can copy your files to PC, they are problably unusable because of encryption.
That is why you need that pattern
For security this is exactly what you want, if your phone is lost or stolen.

Do you mean that the reason it doesn't accept the correct pattern anymore is for security? I would have thought it would still accept the correct one, at least after several tries of the same thing. Being completely locked out even when you know the correct password is a little strange to me.

Repair IMEI - Diag mode

While trying to install a Custom ROM, all went wrong with a hard bricked Redmi Note 8T as result.
Have been able to revive the phone in EDL mode (Test Points method). Now running again on MIUI Global 12.5.5 (RCXEUXM).
However, the IMEI's are nulled, can't activate a SIM card. Only WiFi works.
A first, essential step in the process to repair the IMEI's, is to open the diag mode. Found a few methods, but none of these methods work.
Not via *#*#717717#*#* (Open diag failed), not via adb devices // adb shell // su // setprop sys.usb.config diag, adb (Permission denied).
The phone is rooted with Magisk; recovery OrangeFox.
Does anyone have a helpful suggestion how to proceed?
Follow-on: Meanwhile, I've been able to open the Diag-mode. Apparently, one or two switches in Magisk had masked the rooting of the phone.
Now on to editing the qcn-file with the correct IMEI's. First,I have to figure out the location of the two IMEI's, and then to correct these into the correct values.
To be continued...

I have had the same problem with my previous Redmi Note 3. And I tried so may ways to re-write the IMEI number. Finally I found a little software on the net and using my computer I was able to re-write the IMEI number to the phone. I was a long time back, so I dont remember the exact name of the software. It was something like IMEI writer (root). Connected the phone which was also rooted. Then opened the software on my PC and the software asked for superuser access, which I granted on the phone. Then there from the pc using the software I entered the IMEI numbers for both sim1 & 2, and applied then reboot phone. After reboot, the phone then detected the simcards and the imei were back.

I tried Hydra, but got a Trojan Horse warning, and therefore broke off installation.
Umt needs dongle.
First restore original qcn(unedited) then try flashing ENG firmware.
!! Iam not responisble if anything wrong happens with your phone.

First of all, thanks to pst125675 for testing Android dump on HP Elite x3 Retail unit. So far I can say converting HP Elite x3 into Android is completely possible - although there're some known issues.
To download HP Elite x3 Android dump, visit here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/not-guide-android-dump-of-hp-elite-x3-for-future-use.4558603/
Known issues- IMEI will be erased. I don't know how to fix it for now, but you can make telephone call properly if your country/region's regulation doesn't require a proper IMEI value.
Known unaffected countries/regions: China, Russia.
- Unable to use fingerprint sensor, IR sensor.
- Difficult to revert it back to Windows 10 Mobile. Guess you don't want to revert it back anyway.
Applicable modelHP Elite x3 Open Market variant, both retail and prototype unit can be used.
Telstra and Verizon variants might be supported (same RKH), but they're untested - do it at your own risk!
DO NOT TRY IT ON OTHER WP MODELS!
Procedure for Retail Unit1. Disable Reset Protection (if applicable) in settings and downgrade the phone back to initial release (10.0.14393.953) with Windows Device Recovery Tool or FFUTool. If your phone is locked out from Reset Protection, there're some methods to bypass it which aren't covered here.
2. At this point, do not connect to Internet during the entire procedure. Enable Developer Mode and install Interop Tools, install NDTKSvc then enable Interop Unlock here. If you were always trying to hack your HP Elite x3 then I'm sure you've already known how to enable Interop Unlock.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...es-now-on-github.3445271/page-7#post-68463839
3. Copy attached registry file to the phone, disconnect the phone and import it with Interop Tools. After that reconnect it to your phone.
4. Connect your phone back to PC, and browse to EFIESP folder\Windows\system32\boot, locate resetphone.efi file and rename it to resetphonex.efi.
5. Download the debugprod package from here: https://gus33000.me/2019/01/05/secureboot-flaw-for-all-wp-devices-literally/ and extract developermenu.efi from it, rename it to resetphone.efi and copy it to EFIESP folder\Windows\system32\boot of your phone.
6. Power off the phone and press both vol- and power key to get Windows Phone Boot Menu. Use power key to select Mass Storage mode.
7. Connect the phone to PC. You can use something to backup entire eMMC before doing any further, like HxD from https://mh-nexus.de/en/downloads.php?product=HxD20 or dd. Open disk with read-only mode (choose MSFTPhone eMMC) and find somewhere with at least 58.2GB storage space.
8. You may want to backup QCN before installing Android (in case you want to restore IMEI). This part will be mentioned in replies.
9. Now use Rufus ( https://rufus.ie/ ) to install the extracted Android dump to your phone. You'll have to tick "List USB Hard Drives" so your phone will be listed in Rufus. When you're ready, click START button to start Android installation.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL! DO NOT DISCONNECT THE PHONE DURING THE PROCEDURE, OR IT WILL KILL YOUR PHONE AND NO WAY TO REVIVE! IF YOU ARE USING A LAPTOP TO FLASH YOUR PHONE, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SLEEP DISABLED AND KEEP EXTERNAL AC ADAPTER CONNECTED!
10. Now wait 1-3 hours for the procedure completes. Once the procedure completes, force reboot the phone.
11. Your phone will boot into Android. You may see an error message in Chinese that told you decryption failed. Simply tap the button "恢复出厂设置" to perform factory reset.
12. Enjoy Android OS on your glorious HP Elite x3.
Procedure for Prototype Unit
If you're not sure if you have a prototype unit, check if your phone meets any of following conditions:
- HP Sample, Not for Sale is printed on the back
- You can see Not for Resale text displayed during boot
- No fingerprint sensor and a more generally known HP logo is used
If your phone doesn't meet any of conditions above, then your phone isn't a prototype unit. This part is not for you.
Simply follow this guide to put your phone into EDL mode, use any Snapdragon 820 eMMC firehose programmer to backup/restore the entire phone. The prototype variant allows you to revert it back to Windows Phone variant whenever you want.
[GUIDE] How to dump and write back the storage on most of Qualcomm devices

Bootloader Unlock
It's possible to unlock the bootloader after installing Android. However since I cannot find Fastboot driver that completely suitable for HP Android devices, you'll have to force install Fastboot driver for other OEMs on it.
Once Fastboot driver installed, the bootloader unlock procedure will be pretty generic. Simply enable OEM Unlocking in Developer Options, reboot to Fastboot mode and execute this command, then confirm bootloader unlock:
Code:
fastboot flashing unlock
It's also possible to install Magisk root on this phone, simply use 7-Zip to open Android dump and extract boot.img inside, then patch it with Magisk.
Backup QCN
This procedure can be only done before you convert it to Android.
To enable diag port, you'll have to download attached diagnostic.rar , boot the phone into Mass Storage mode and execute this command under Administrator privilege. Assume your MainOS drive is mounted at drive G.
Code:
enableQCComp.bat G:\ SerialCompositeConfig
EnableMSFTStack.bat G:\ SerialCompositeConfig
Once 2 commands were executed successfully, reboot it back to normal OS and make QCN backup with QPST.
How about revert it back to Windows 10 Mobile? You'll need to build a TWRP, which obviously isn't available. Or at least enable Rooted ADB Shell under stock recovery.
I'm sure developers are talented enough to modify boot/recovery images to have it enabled.

first of all, many many thanks for the support in bringing our wonderful HP back to life, by providing all the files.
Can you also please guide me in the right direction on where to find/how to install fastboot driver? Is it needed on Ubuntu too?

For Windows, right click on Update Driver, Select Driver manually, and choose All Devices, select any generic Fastboot driver you have installed.
Fastboot driver installation is unneeded for Linux distro or macOS.
A known working driver is the Google driver provided on Google website: https://developer.android.com/studio/run/win-usb
Many thanks for your reply. I am struggling to enter fast boot mode.
adb reboot fastboot is not working, only adb reboot bootloader. Then I get the same menu as with "Vol - + Power" buttons combination :
START
Restart Bootloader
Recovery mode
Power Off
Boot to FFBM
Can you please explain how you got into fastboot mode in order to execute fastboot flashing unlock? I have already extracted boot.img from the dump, many thanks

I think I have tried that, but the phone was simply invisible to the computer.
Fastboot devices command was returning zero devices, but before that adb reboot recovery was working thus restarting the phone into this mode (fastboot mode).

thank you for your help, I think I understand what I was doing wrong - the fastboot command has to be entered via sudo (In Ubuntu)
How I will try root via magisk, if there is tutorial on that, please share
also, I was thinking, how realistic is to have a working TWRP for our phone and maybe some custom ROMs? Is it too much to hope for this model? )))

I made a barely working TWRP based on existing ZUK Z2 TWRP.
I said "barely working", which means only ADB commands will work, you can't touch the screen at all. Also it exceeded 64MB so you can't flash it right into your phone, you can only boot into it with "fastboot boot twrp.img".
I'm not ready to post this to public.
