If you still have the unlock token.bin you can flash that directly from Fastboot with the Fastboot commands, you don't have to do all the steps on the htcdev site !

I'm seeing comments all over the web that you don't need to unlock your bootloader to flash a recovery. Is that true and can anyone confirm this. I'd like to just flash a recovery on my device and make a stock backup all without unlocking the bootloader.

you can but once Knox is tripped you cant undo that.
OK , so how can I relock the bootloader without tripping Knox
