MIUI Global 12.0.6.0 Stable Beta - Redmi Note 9 Guides, News, & Discussion

So I've installed MIUI 12.0.6.0 Global Stable Beta.
Change log: Updated Android Security Patch.
But i also noticed improvement in performance. Mine (4/128) is now much faster and smoother, than 12.0.5.0.
New Control Center (if anyone still using) is now much better, no lag at all.

About gaming, i don't know because the game I'm playing is always lag.
Also, Display section is changed, i guess.

Look like back to home animation in MIUI launcher isn't there, maybe they removed it, or mu phone just getting weird

Have you disabled the HW Overlays from developer options? Doing that will fix the lag

i just found the solution for this serious lags in this morning when i was tweaking some things in the phone and i realized thats a bug in the miui and it does not matter which version you are using just do this instructions im writing :
1 - activate developer mode
2 - go to developer mode options
3 - turn on DISABLE HW OVERLAYS
4 - go play that game and then you will see all lags are fixed
WORKS WITH ALL NOTCH MODES

No, the game lag pretty much for every players. Standoff 2 still 60FPS max settings tho. They fixed lagging while gaming since 12.0.4.0

but still try these settings I think it will work:

Mmm I stick with 12.04

Okay, the new notification might be smoother because of opaque background but it looks uglier too. A lot. I thought I would turn on old control center but they changed it too and it looks the most ugliest notification/control center out of any things. It just looks so bad. I'd rather have the blur back.
Also! I can't seem to update my google security services from october 2020 patch, it just gets stuck in 12%/13% out of 8.9mb or 3.2 mb.
Honestly this update just sucks.

yeah the new control center is really bad also it has existed since like 12.0.4.0 afaik it was in the settings but the old one is much better
it looks a lot like the IOS control center is miui just going to be a bootleg IOS copycat in the future?
GSI roms would look better if this kept going on

Wow, that's a pretty substantial update. Can bootloader be unlocked now?
Edit, just read the other thread, great news, it seems unlocking is now allowed!

I have no doubt we will get nougat. Keep in mind that the GS7 & 7 Edge don't have Nougat released yet. Also it seems maybe the Camera is improved abit with the update. Really a solid phone for $299, loving it.

I am very excited to hear all of these. Mine is coming tomorrow.
I've watched LeEco Le 2 can survive water test for at least a minute (maybe similar protection [IP53] that Pixel phone offers) so that will be a bonus from this awesome phone.

Widgets crashing on restart
Has anyone else noticed certain widgets crashing/not starting on reboot? I've noticed two particular widgets not starting on reboot:
1) Battery Widget Pro
2) Dark Sky
Netflix WAS added. Sucks that you can't uninstall, just disable, but the bigger point is let US decide what we do and don't want, not you Leeco.

[ROOT] Switcher 4K for Z5/XZ/XZ2 Premium v1.3

Switcher 4K
Hi,
I built a simple app that allow you to quickly switch the virtual resolution between default 2K and 4K without a computer.
Unfortunately, since the command is not available on the userland, the process needs superuser permission to change virtual resolution.
If you somehow manage to break your resolution, especially leading to crash loop of Xperia Home, check on other topics how to restore the original values.
Since the custom feature can be "dangerous" for the reasons above, I added a check when save and switch custom values to avoid any resolution under [email protected] (Z5 Compact default values).
Min Android version: 6.0
Target: 9.0

v1.2: Implemented customization button and form. Values are saved in app storage.
v1.1: Implemented App Shortcuts (Android 7.1+).
Switching to 2K now reset to OEM values, not set 1080p ones.
v1.0: Release.

Yes, it is one of the goal of this app, being able to switch back to 1080p without a PC to use apps that doesn't support 4K.
The phone app is the most common known issue.
Is the battery consumption less?
Not much for usual usage, I suppose much if you play 3D games.
There is another topic I don't remember where speaking about this.
When set to 4k, the phone app no longer goes. g8141
Used this mod for over a week I sometimes get like a fpash of white light kind of flickering on.screen

Get the screen flashing light and dark like screens messed when it's not though works perfectly. Then suddenly get flickering
Wow looks like weird...
What definition are you using ?
As described looks like a screen issue of your phone.. It happens in 1080p too ?
I saw that the best dpi on the 4k resolution without crashing any app wasn't 807 but 706, 720 or 721, I don't remember exactly sorry
This app do the same job like adb command (wm resolution 2160x3840)?

As far as I know, it does the exact same thing as the ADB command (except through an app).
It said that the newest file couldn't be found (error: 410)?
I tried the older version (1.1) And the program doesn't seem to do anything, is there a way to check?

Method to unlock 90fps on games which supports high refresh frame

Hi guys!
I understand some of the people who realised that games which support higher refresh, but OnePlus was capped to 60fps for massive games, this is ridiculous. Before I provide solutions to unlock 90fps, let me share some thoughts about how I discovered that games were capped to 60fps!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.razer.cortex&hl=en just provided new features to able shows FPS, but I discovered that while I playing Dead Trigger 2 with max settings, the phone shows 60fps. PUBG China version able to running with 90fps without stress!
Image below is Dead Trigger 2 which capped 60fps by OnePlus:

Below is PUBG China version:
So I suspected that OnePlus done something for it.
So I tried jOnePlus Tools [adb/root], and Force 90Hz:
And... volia! Full video link showing many games finally runs 90fps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIT0yBCPwis
If anyone doesn't trust the video above, you may try the app that I found to Force 90hz for your OnePlus device, witness it for yourself. I understand force 90hz on gaming will cause battery drain, but we have Warp Charge which still retains fast charging speed while gaming, so who cares?
I hope the OnePlus team developer can do something about frame limited issues on massive games.

Games list which supports high refresh rate: https://www.androidpolice.com/2019/09/15/android-games-phones-high-frame-rates-90-120fps/

I know this is a old thread but is this still a issue on op7t? Also does this trick actually work or does it just force the screen to stay at 90hz but game still runs at 60?

This trick works, watch the video from OP.
For stay at 90Hz but game still runs at 60Hz, just change to Auto 90Hz (from jOnePlusTools) or set to 90Hz from Settings App, because that's phone's default settings.

Hi thanks for reply... Yeah I don't have the op7t I'm using the X2 Pro so can't use the app.... We have the same issue and was mainly curious to see if game updates or system updates sorted the issue.
Does you now is there any different from force 90Hz by using ADB command ?
Is this same as this... and what actually is show in phone Settings?
adb shell settings put global oneplus_screen_refresh_rate 0
Can you test both metods? Tnx
I was able to see the 'force 90hz' and 'refresh rate' option in the 'app' untill i updated to ob2 on my 7t.
Anyway fixes ?
nevermind, fixed it. i was using pixel 4 props and that's why couldn't see the option
Thankyou for the answers love to read the point of views from the different peoples here also

Nova Launcher Lag in Loading Home Screen

Not sure if anyone else is using Nova Launcher, but I've noticed an issue where most of the time when going back to the home screen from an app, it will take a few seconds for all the icons to show back up.
Never had this issue on my Pixel and also the stock ColorOS launcher doesn't have this issue. Anyone else been experiencing this?
Might swap back to stock for now, but I really like the folders in the app drawer for Nova.
I noticed this a lot when I first switched to Nova, try Settings | app management | app list | nova launcher | power saver | run in background
That seems to have stopped it, for the most part at least.
Yeah I tried doing that, makes it happen less frequently, but still happened enough to annoy me (even tried switching to the default icon pack but still nothing)
Oh well, stock launcher is honestly pretty good anyway, I do like the extra flexibility in Nova though.

I think I may have figured it out!
I made another thread earlier about adding apps to the "locked" list in multitasking by going Settings > Additional Settings > Recent Tasks Manager.
This stops apps from reloading/restarting often, hadn't tried it with Nova before as I worked this out after deleting it, but re-installed it and tried now and it seems to be going strong :good:
I haven't noticed it occur again in the last week or so after setting nova to run in background, if I do I'll give that other setting a try
This phone is just laggy, full stop, I could understand in the browser, but it drops frames just opening apps and swiping on things, maybe Oppo is throttling the 665 or 665 isn't good, I'll be getting a g8 power with same chip to compare

I'm using the Mi 11 lite 5g and it's running MIUI 12.5.5. I could not find the above area to go to change. Same as mentioned in this thread, setting no battery restrictions and to allow in background still does not work. However, I locked the app in the recents menu and no issues for 2 days now.

for me it is very annoying - previously I used to enter my password once a week and now it happens to me several times a day because the failure to recognize my fingerprint several times forces me to use a password (and I have a long one)
I have no problems with fingerprint recognition. But since I updated 4 days ago, the fingerprint reader didn't "light up" on turned off screen several times already.
I also experienced very heavy battery drain the day after I installed the update - 35% over night, then ~15%/hour during short geocaching hike. But rebooting the phone fixed that.
Other than that, I don't really see any difference in speed/performance - I feel it's identically great as it was before.
Oh and the new "pocket detection" screen with swipe up is really annoying and difficult to unlock.
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone else lost the ability to use the cellular band selection hidden network setting - under the Call Settings menu? I'm not able to access it in Android 13. It says the app is no longer installed.
This is the menu: com.samsung.android.app.telephonyui.hiddennetworksetting.MainActivity
Update went smoothly for me, no hiccups or crashing problems after it.
Biggest problem I've had so far, like jenda.69 mentioned, is the new accidental touch protection screen, not sure why Samsung felt the need to change something when it was already working well. I could not for the life of me unlock the screen.
Other than that, I'd say everything else is pretty good. Mini stutters from OneUI 4 are fixed, like the ones that happened often in the quick settings menu. Personally I prefer the animations from OneUI 4 but I don't have a problem with the new ones either. The new clock font options are pretty slick as well.
Lastly some nitpicks; The default animated call screen is gone which is a very minor thing but I did like that gradient animation a lot and how it changed according to contact pictures. New one is pretty dull. Samsung didn't make use of the new Android 13 media player either which is kinda disappointing but I don't have too big a problem with that.
Overall a decent update. 9/10 has a little something for everyone
