4g Locker/Switcher App not Working - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Themes, Apps, and Mod

There are tons of 4g Locker/Switcher available on the Play Store. All are working fine before the update to One UI 3.0. Does anyone one know of any app that can lock me up to 4g?

bixby routine?

You can dial *#*#4636#*#* in Google Phone to open up secret menu or use Network Mode app which I personally prefer for Android 11.

The 'Samsung Band Selection' app works great. You can find it in the play store. I did a google search for the premium apk and have the premium version. lol

When you switch modes you are required to restart to refresh the SIM card data.
that's why those apps aren't working. The mobile network now is way different like back in the day.

[Q] Market and GPS questions...

I picked a Verizon GNex at BB yesterday and have a couple questions...
First, I don't see where to turn GPS ON/OFF -- there has to be a way to turn it off and on -- right?
Second, after installing the apps I had with my Evo I attempted to purchase another app but the "Accept & Buy" button to complete the purchase would not work. I tried this with two different apps. Is Verizon trying to prevent use of the Google Market so they can have you go through there app market?
Thanks,
Brian

I saw that but it's not like any of those option clearly the GPS on/off. The three options:
Googles location service (lets apps use location data from wifi sources etc)
GPS satellites (lets apps pinpoint your location)
Location & Google search (lets Google use your location to improve search results)
OK, of the three the second one seems closest to what I'm looking for but there's nothing here that clearly says it turns the GPS on/off.
Brian
It does turn it off

come on man, isn't it odvious that is this option? "GPS satellites"

Actually no! As I said, it's the most likely option but no where does it say that the GPS radio is turned off it just says that is "lets apps pin point your location". Everyone wants to know where you are at all times so they make it more difficult for you to turn off location finding tools because they want you to leave it on.
So, Google may allow you to disable GPS access for third party apps but still permit them (Google) to know exactly where you are because that information is money. If disabling this option stopped third party apps from accessing the GPS but still left the GPS on so Google could keep tracking you the wording of the option gives them the legal latitude to do just that.
So, in addition to wanting to save battery life it's nice to also limit the amount of tracking Google, and pretty much everyone else, does to you.
My Evo 4G had a widget that controlled: 4G (WiMax), BlueTooth, GPS and Wifi -- I would like that on my Nexus.
Brian
It's pretty obvious to me that that option actually does turn off the GPS antenna. It I don't think that there's any device in the world with a GPS antenna that cannot be turned off, unless it's part of the core functionality (e.g. with GPS receivers).
Put the power control widget on one of your homescreens - the middle one is GPS and you can quickly toggle it.

All the toggle in that widget does is turn "option 2" on and off. There is no 4G LTE toggle either. Also, no Verizon isn't blocking the market to force you to use theirs. They don't even have a separate app market.

Yep, after toggling I checked back and option 2 was turned off. It was the most likely option but I wish the wording was more explicit...
I also found that the market problem was somehow related to the fact that I'd added a second gmail account. I had to select the second account and enter my CC info there and after that the market worked just fine.

Yes Verizon only wants you to use their 20 or so apps. Enjoy!

[Q] Verizon WiFi Auto-On App

Anyone have a work around to make the Verizon WiFi Auto-On app work? I have a VZW Galaxy Nexus, but I get an error when opening the app that states the app is only for VZW customers.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.vzw.wificonnect
I dont think it supports ICS. I use Llama to do my home/work/away settings. Very good app been using it since I got an android phone.
I have been trying the Verizon Wifi app as well.
I gave up.
I kept looking and found Auto Wifi Enabler that seems to work on pretty much the same premise at Verizon's app - it turns your wifi on and off based on location and saved networks.
I'm not sure what happened but it isn't showing up in the Market or my App List but it is on my phone right now. Very strange.

Started using Llama with an auto wifi off app, and it is really helping my battery lots. This also adds peace of mind for ringers and other issues...
Agreed on Llama. Downloaded it to use for Wifi on/off at home and have since found a wide variety of uses for it including disabling screen timeout and adjusting brightness while charging vs. running on battery, automatic ringtone/volume adjustment based on locations and time of day, etc.
It uses cell towers to determine your location (not GPS) and doesn't appear to add much to battery drain. If anything, the automatic Wifi and screen brightness/timeout rules do more to conserve battery than the program would add in overhead.

The VZW app is linked in the OP. Auto Wifi Enabler does not seem to be in the market any longer.

Cant download from google play store on 3G?

I got my HOX last week upgrading from sgs2, & ever since i swapped the sims i haven't been able to download apps on 3G or test my data speed with 'speed.test' app, all other surfing works.
anyone else had this problem?
Maybe you used all your 3G traffic for this month? About play store, did you check if "Download only when WiFi is available" is ticked? Although not sure if this might affect speed.test as well..

Just found the fix in another forum on XDA.

I finally managed to solve the problem. Just follow these steps, but bear in mind that i'm using a custom ROM so it might be a little different with you. Go to Settings > Wireless and network > Mobile networks > Access Point Names (or APN). Now select the APN that u are using. (I chose MTN Data since i'm MTN. Now go to "Proxy". There should be a number in there, delete everything that's in there and leave that field blank. Go to "Port" and clear everything as well. It worked for me.hope it works for u too. Let me know.

[Q] 2 Questions... Roaming & Sprint Diagnostics App

Ok so I downloaded the paid app "Roam Control", worked GREAT for the first few weeks, but now when I try and force roam in crappy Sprint reception areas, it won't roam and I'll be stuck on 1 Bar 3G Sprint. I did not install any new apps or anything to mess with it so I don't get why it will not force roam. My phone however WILL roam on itself (just as all of yours will do) but like I said when I try to force roam, it won't work.... any ideas?!
Also, I installed the Sprint Diagnostics App (v1.0) so I do not have to go back to a TouchWiz ROM every time I want to update my profile/PRL, but it just force closes when I do so. I also notice that I can "Write PRL" and there is a "PRL Manager", can I just go HERE and follow directions to get a preferred roaming list (Verizon has a very strong signal, whereas Sprint's is low-medium). Also is v1.0 the newest version of Sprint Diagnostics app?
Thanks to all that can help!!
Last I heard that diagnostic app won't work with the s3. He designed it for the gnex. Some users could get the prl write to work but wouldn't stick. I haven't seen much in the thread (I assume I'm still subscribed) so I believe the app to be dead. It was included in a ROM but can't remember which.

Roaming is more complicated than I thought

Samsung Visual Voicemail APK

Is there one that works with our S20 Ultra?
I tried loading the one from the S10 and it doesn't open, just shows not supported when trying to open.
TMO VVM app is utter garbage and Verizon's isn't available for unlocked phones. Not interested in third party VM services.
This is one thing (besides imessage) I miss from iOS. Baked in visual voice mail support. I wish they'd add it to Android.
I use the one from the Galaxy Store on my Ultra, and it works just fine (Verizon MVNO).

What store? The only one I have wants me to buy accessories for my S20U!
The Galaxy Store, it should be pre-loaded...
I don't see it there either??
I have an unlocked S20 Ultra using a Verizon sim and it came with the Samsung VVM app preinstalled. I works perfectly with Verizon.
Wasn't on my phone. I have the USA unlocked version.

Something weird is going on.
I can't access this app anywhere.
Yet it is installed on the phone!
I can ONLY see it from CCSWE App manager. It has not been disabled or removed.
I use Nova and it has not been hidden from the app drawer as well.
I inserted a Verizon SIM and restarted the phone thinking that it may show up.
Nope.
I really don't want to reset the damn thing and start all over again or it may wind up sitting on the shelf next to the other phones...

I have the same thing with Android Auto, it's on the phone and works when I plug it in to my car, but I can't see the app at all? I can't see this app either???
Yes this is frustrating, having to dial my VM to listen to my messages.
Makes me feel like I'm using my Nextel i1000 from 2000.
Yeah the tmobile visual voice-mail is terrible, I miss visual voice mail that was built in the Oneplus 7 pro.

+1, as soon as it updates carrier settings your good to go. Sounds like you may need a factory reset. But before you do that try resetting your network settings and wiping cache.

Full factory reset and I still have no visual voicemail showing here! @beyondpissed
When I flashed the unlocked firmware to my ultra it didn't show in the app drawer but shoed in the app list. Once I signed into the galaxy store with Samsung account there was an update for visual voicemail showing. After it applied the app was visible in the app drawer and works fine now.

It's not there.
So I factory reset AGAIN and did NOT restore ANYTHING so I have a completely STOCK phone. No visual voice mail app.
Now here's where it gets interesting. I inserted my Verizon SIM and now the VVM app shows up, so I downloaded the update. The icon is RED.
Removed the Verizon SIM card and put the T Mobile SIM card back in. Now the VVM icon is a blueish color AND when I open it, a message pops up that it keeps crashing. What a joke!
hi all, using G9880 on t-mo and G9810 on att, no VVM on either.
There has to be a way to sideload this...

For TMO users I've been reading that the number must have a DIGITS line associated with it. To do this you MUST put your TMO SIM in an actual TMO device that has a recognized IMEI. Then it can be registered. The second part (and the dealbreaker for me) is you MUST flash the TMO rom to your device. There's no way I'm doing that. If I wanted a TMO device and all their associated third world like garbage, I would have bought their crappy phone!
I'd rather succumb to using youmail OR even just dialing voice mail like in the old days.
Everything else TMO works fine, their fake 5G BS, wifi calling, et al.
TBH I'm making a mountain out of a molehill at this point, because, personally I use my device as a CELLPHONE maybe 5% of the time? And that may be generous.
But what gets under my skin is I paid more than a top of the line iphone and still seemingly get the fragmented, beta-like experience.
Put the u1 firmware on phone last night and then used the Samsung vvm from the note 10 thread around here and kept getting unsupported... when I went into the galaxy store the update was there but kept failing to install. I deleted the one from the note 10 I installed and it updated the preloaded app and now it works.
