Running Hot - Just me?

Just received my Tab pro 8.4 today, and the 1st thing i notice is that its running a lot hotter than any other devices ive used before. Screen is not on Max brightness and it gets pretty hot after about 30 mins of web browsing. Anyone else have this issue at all? Can anyone offer suggestions to what might be happening or is it normal?
When i mean Hot, i mean it gets a little bit uncomfortable to hold. Its feels like its been left in the sun for about 20 mins etc... ill do a temperature test when it happens again.

I have no logical explanation for it but mine had terrible battery life at first and got hot when I first bought it as well. After several discharges it calmed down to a reasonable, though still somewhat disappointing, battery life and a normal temperature. Battery's often perform slightly better after a few discharge cycles but I have never owned another device that made so drastic a change before. let me know if you experience the same thing.
I have the LTE version and have exactly the same issue. I've noticed that when the tab is downloading something it gets very hot, and when I put the SD card in (I've been putting it in other devices to get data on it) it hats up for a while, presumably indexing.
All the times I've noticed it hot, I've also noticed the battery drain real fast, so I'm guessing it's just CPU intense (very intense) activity. The hot spot is on the left hand bezel halfway up - where I imagine the CPU is. I'm still trying to lock down the exactusage patterns that cause heading other than those two I mentioned.
And a quick word about battery, I'm about five cycles in and battery life had become truely excellent. After moderate-light use yesterday I went to bed with 73% left!!

This is the same as mine. Glad im not the only one.
After about 2 charge cycles, Tablet does not seem to be getting that hot any more. Though im yet to do a full day of testing. Will report back if it continues.
Wifi version because my phone supplies me a hotspot whenever I happen to be away from wifi and I have never even felt heat at all.
No heat on my Wifi 8.4
So when will you release cleanrom for htc one at&t kitkat 4.4.2? i've been waiting since months...

HTC one m9 overheating and poor battery. True or False?

Hi, i plan to buy the m9 but the overheating and poor battery life problems that i heard kind of keeps me away from it. What's your avg battery life and it's still overheating 8 month after release?
The phone doesn't overheat but it DOES get hot.
Battery life is dependent on how you use it but as a normal phone it lasts a day or two. As a gaming device expect a couple of hours.
It's still one of the best phones out.
I wish I stole my HTC M9.

I've never had mine get that hot honestly. I did get it more recently so it isn't one of the first batches. It stays cooler than my m8 did honestly. Battery life is definitely worse, though manageable. I can easily get a day out of it, just I can't go as crazy as I could with screen on time on my m8.

not quite. My battery life is very acceptably lasting between 12 - 14 hours normal use (4.5hrs screen on time).
And I have no overheating issues, the phone has never crashed or rebooted due to heat. the only time the heat is even really noticeable is when I just flashed a rom and android is optimizing apps on first boot. For this I just put the phone on a cold pack the duration of the install (it's not like your holding it the whole time)
I have the dot view case on and very rarely notice heat. Battery is perfectly fine, better than my M7 which I had came from. All this is based on being on latest update and firmware. It has vastly improved since launch.
Depends how you define "overheat." It doesn't get so hot that it malfunctions or risks injury. It can get quite hot to the touch, especially if you're charging and doing CPU intensive stuff at the same time. I have had it get hot enough to stop charging quite a few times when I was using and charging at the same time.
Battery life is comparable to other top-end smartphones. 90% of the time I have little trouble getting through the day.
Some people complain about these issues, but it's hard to tell if they're truly experiencing exceptional problems or just suffer from Perfect Phone Syndrome.
When not rooted with custom rom ie out of the box original, its loaded with so much crap from htc after a few weeks of normal use it overheats and the battery life is poor. My guess is that with Cyanogenmod it would fly.

Battery problems

Hi.
I've been using Mi 6 for 14 months and I recently noticed a huge drop in battery life after updating from MIUI 10 Beta to Stable. Few days ago I changed my ROM to OmniROM because I thought my battery would last long with less Android System battery usage, but in the end it was still the same. My battery used to last a whole day with normal use and occasional game playing, today for example I lost 50% in three hours. On AccuBattery I supposedly have 2400mAh instead of 3350, although the number kept changing for a few days so I'm not really surprised, I don't believe the app is really that accurate.
My question here is if anyone has/had the same problem and what could I try to fix this, except buying a new battery.
Thanks in advance.

I would recommend to completely drain the battery to the point of not being able to turn on even for a few moments, then charge up to 100% for 1-2 times, i had done this to my S5 which had a very crappy battery (it was in use for like 3-4 years with the same battery) and after that it worked like a charm, but, this is a big but, i dont know if this is going to work in this situation.

I'll give it a try, thank you!
Batteries shouldn't be drained to zero.. Doesn't do them well...
But actually I'm having similar problems lately. It drains 10% or more over night in airplane mode.. In on RR OS..

I switched to Lineage OS and the battery does last longer now, I even removed the AccuBattery app. Just in case I ordered another battery and I might even replace it if the battery use turns out to be the same or even worse than before.

Use mokee rom it is very stable and the battery draining is so slow
I have try many rom and this is the best in term of battery drain

bad battery

My battery drains too fast.. and I disable the features and not play games..
I have this only 2 years..
If I have 15%.. it was going down to 0% so fast..
maybe it was caused because of the new updates?
Try and use it until it turns off and then fully charge it while it's still off do that a few times and see if it gets any better. I spotted something online which suggested this and it helped mine a little

I'm having the same problem. I tried this but the battery life is still not great, like sometimes I charge my S9 twice a day.

Yeah to be honest mines from April 2018 and I still have to charge it twice a day sometimes but if it goes off at 15% the full charge thing seemed to help. The accu battery app, said my battery around 80% guess there still alot of stuff running in the background not sure what phones expected battery life is but their only covered by 1 year warranty I believe which probably says alot and the s9 exynos is known to be worse than snapdragon chop for battery
These new Samsung devices have the worst battery life around. Every single update it gets worse. This is Samsung forcing you to pay for a new device which will be exactly the same.

I don't think so, my friend's note 8 last a lot longer than my S9. Maybe it's an issue with the S9 itself because the S8 had longer battery life since the beginning.

If you're aware, Samsung flagships get 2 years of major updates, one year of monthly security updates and one year for quarterly security updates, which equals 4 years of updates, and if you add the first year before receiving the first major update, it's 5, similar to iPhones, and since iOS doesn't bring a lot of new things with their updates, it's basically the same thing.
I'm having so much fun using my S9 and I never got bored even after 2 years of use, and now I'm waiting for OneUI2.1 ? It's true that battery life isn't great but my friend's iPhone X is worse than my S9, so it's a normal thing after 2 years of use, at least for 2017/2018 flagships.

Come on mate, I also have my s9 from launch, do you seriously think that 3000 mAh is still at 100% capacity? Clue, it's not. After so many long charge cycles, I'd say it's only around 70-75%, equivalent to 2100-2250mAh. Atleast you still got a fast charger that comes with the phone. I'd rather not complain considering the screen is beautiful.

My battery about 80% according to the accu app about 28 months. Does have screen burn across the bottom of the screen though [emoji24] but I'm not giving up on it yet [emoji1787][emoji1787]
This is totally a software failure.
I am a beta tester and when the first one came out for android 10 the battery life was like when i first had the phone. Lasted all day long. As they rolled out more and more beta updates it got worse again.
This had been one of the worst devices for battery life ever since they updated it.
Hello everyone. I've just bought a brand new Galaxy S9 few days ago. My first impression is awesome. The device is lightning fast despite having 2-year-old hardware. I am totally amazed how Android evolved over the years. Coming from a Galaxy S7, I am more than satisfied with my new phone. However, battery life is becoming a concern for me, as I get more and more familiar with the device. The problem is, phone only lasts half day, at most. I can only get 2-2,5 hours of SOT which is unacceptable for me. I upgraded from my S7 primarily for better battery life. I use most of the smart features like AOD, High Accuracy Location, Edge Notifications, 2K resolution etc. and no power saving mode. Can someone explain how can I increase my battery life without sacrificing all these features?

Was it new sealed?
Yeah, brand new dual sim exynos version.
Its down to the software i am totally convinced.
Samsung needs to fix this urgently. It has been going on for at least 2 years and still no fix.
My s9+ drains super fast within minutes once it reaches ~25%. And the "best": if I connect the charger then, it wont charge the battery, but drains even faster to 0%!!! I need to restart the phone.
Tried a full wipe, but no changes!
Samsung needs to read this topic and sort out this mess.
S9 had terrible battery from from the launch. It's the only reason why I regret buying the phone. At least I adapted to terrible battery and learned how to use my phone less so it can survive full day of battery life.
2.5-3.5 screen on time with light tasks only and constant battery saving measures is terrible in my opinion.
Then I bought Galaxy Watch and crippled my battery even more when it connects via bluetooth, it drains so fast it became countdown timer

That's what I was trying to say.
When I first got my S9 I was getting only 4 hours of screen on time while my friend was able to get 6-7 hours on her S8 and she was using it for 1 year at the time. Also every tech website mentioned that the S9 was noticeably worse than the S8 when it comes to battery life.
I got used to it though and I'm keeping my S9 until it stops receiving updates at all.

Notice that S22 Snapdragon is heating more than before with 5.1.
Everything smoother on my S22 right now, enjoying more the animations. Screenshot folder selection has been one of the greatest additions to solve a realy old problem with OneUI. Battery life is almost the same as before.
The only thing that annoyed me is the volume slider not having customized colors, but the new options are welcome.
