Google Fit does not register steps - Xiaomi Mi 10T / 10T Pro Questions & Answers

Hi,
I bought a new MT 10 T PRO yesterday.
After the setup, I installed Google Fit (and other similar) to register my steps during the day.
I noted that Google Fit does not work well: it misses a lot of steps.
The same occurs with other similar applications.
I empowered Google Fit with all permissions!
Googling I found that the problem was present in MIUI 11...but, then, was solved.
MT 10TPRO has MIUI 12.*
Did anyone have the same problem?
Thanks,
Roberto

Same here, it wont count my steps.
I tried few different apps (google fit, huawei health, Mi health, Mi fit, few other step counters) but it's same result.
I have 12.0.18. global stable.

I'm on 12.0.9 Global Stable and Google Fit's able to track my steps and heart points. It doesn't notify, maybe because I don't open it often enough (and this hassle of things not notifying is annoying me big time).

I got answer from from Xiaomi service in my country.
It seems that this version don't have option for counting steps, but it will get it soon in some updates.
I don't know is it true or not, but I hope it is, because I really love that option, and I have it on any other phone I used before.
When I say step count, I mean really step count, step by step.

Help getting step and heart data on phone

Hi,
I have had the Moto 360 for about a month but am unable to see my step and heart data on my phone. I have Android Fit installed and selected in Android Wear but it does not seem to pull my steps from my watch. I would love to get it all in the app called "Instant" but would settle for anything that would just show my step and heart history. I want to be able to look back a month at a time etc. I would think this is an easy thing to get as everyone would want it but I don't seem to have it setup correctly yet.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
P.S. my sig is out of date, I now have a Galaxy S4.

No one has this figured out yet? If none of you are trying to use this as a fitness tracker what on earth are you using it for???!

[Q] Step counts on google fit does not us watch data

Hello
My moto 360 when not connected to my phone counts very well my steps (I can see it from the google fit watch face) but when it reconnects to my phone, google fit app erases data from my watch and only "believes" the steps count from my phone....
So when I do sport (without my phone of course) my steps are not taken into account which is really annoying!
Do you know how we can force google fit to use my watch data? Moto body steps count seems to be good but I can't see the counts information on my phone...
Am I the only one in this situation?
Thanks
Unfortunately you're experience is not isolated and there is no way to fix it yourself. It seems to have gotten worse over the past two Google Fit updates. At this point you'll need to wait for Google to fix the issue.
this has been the case ever since
personally, i've switched to using UP for my step tracking... give it a try, you might like it

[MiBand2]No HR measurement after update, downgrade firmware MiBand2 to make it work

Hi Guys
Just sharing what I learned after quite a bit of googling about the Hear Rate not measured in Mi Band 2. I bought a Mi Band 2 mid of last year and everything worked fine.
However towards end of last year the Heart rate measurement showed a --X with a vibration indicating it couldn't measure it.I initially blamed the Chinese build quality and presumed the band was dying. But I discovered that the green lights underneath was working when Heart rate measurement was selected which got me thinking and hypothesized that this started happening after a firmware update that is automatically done by the app when the app itself is updated in Playstore. I read through MIUI forums where everyone said it was impossible to downgrade the firmware. Little bit more search showed that Gadgetbridge app makes it possible to downgrade the firmware and I can confirm that heart rate measurement is working again as of today morning.Below are the steps to do so with links which can be found at https://github.com/Freeyourgadget/Gadgetbridge/wiki/Mi-Band-Firmware-Update
DISCLAIMER
Given that maybe nothing will happen to your warranty or there are small chances that your device might get bricked, I feel the need to say that I am not responsible for any damage caused by following these instructions. Any modification that you do to your band you're doing at your OWN RISK.
1. Download Gadgetbridge app from: https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdid=nodomain.freeyourgadget.gadgetbridge and read the wiki for MiBand2: https://github.com/Freeyourgadget/Gadgetbridge/wiki/Mi-Band-Firmware-Update. Before installing the app unpair the band from Mi Fit app and any others. Then install the app and make sure the band is detected and shown as connected in Gadgetbridge.
2. We need a Firmware that has to be extracted from an older Mi Fit app apk from apk mirror. Download both the 'Mili_pro_53.fw' and 'Mili_pro 2.2.1.fw' files from https://depositfiles.com/files/gu58npyqf and https://depositfiles.com/files/jmh3a1tn1 and place it your phone. Download MiFit apk from https://depositfiles.com/files/n4az7dyzs,but don't install it yet.
3. Use a File explorer like ES Fileexplorer and open 'Mili_pro_53.fw' that was downloaded earlier. This file will now be opened in Gadgetbridge app and firmware updated.
4. After Firmware update, open Gadgetbridge and ensure the band is shown there and connected. If not delete the band by long pressing and search again.
5.Now in a File explorer like ES File explorer and open 'Mili_pro 2.2.1.fw' that was downloaded earlier. This file will now be opened in Gadgetbridge app and firmware updated.
6. Check for the Heart rate measurement and it should be working. Time will be synced when the band is connected to app.
7. Delete the band from Gadgetbridge app.
8. Install the MiFit apk downloaded earlier and add the band. Now everything should be working fine.
9.If you update the Mi Fit app, it will update the firmware automatically so make sure auto-update is not on.
PS: After this the band aut updated the firmware to V1.0.0.44 by itself but the HR is working fine.
Hope this helps.
Rambo you are a life saver bro. I'd just bought myself a mi band 2 in Jan. The firmware got updated and the HRM went kaput. Your article saved my band. I downgraded my firmware and now the HRM works fine. Gr8 job bro.
EDIT: hopefully, it wasn't bricked, after some hours it came back to life and has been working fine, only thing is that this old firmware has fewer features. I'll leave my original post just in case someone else thinks the band is dead after following the instructions.
Hi,
I know you said you take no responsibility for any damage to the device, so I'm not blaming you, but just for other people trying to downgrade the FW: beware, because I think I have just bricked my band. I have followed the instructions exactly as you mentioned. My band was on maybe the latest firmware (1.0.1.XX, sorry, I don't remember the exact version) and although the steps count and HR were working, the calories count wasn't (it was way too off). So I tried to downgrade the FW as I read somewhere else that one of the previous fw was working fine. This is what I did:
1. I downloaded latest Gadgetbridge APK
2. I also downloaded both FW from the links above.
3. The band was working fine on the Gadgetbridge app.
4. I installed the FW (Mili_pro_53.fw) despite the app said it wasn't proved to be compatible.
5. Band got disconnected but re-connected again, apparently everything was working.,
6. Then I installed the other file: Mili_pro 2.2.1.fw. The app said it was the 1.0.0.39 (which I believe is the right one where everything works fine)
7. FW Installed successfully, then it disconnects.
8. The app tries to find the device, no success... the band is still working, I can see time, steps, HR (but not working BTW...)
9.And while trying to read HR the band is gone, screen off, no response to button press, not even battery charging icon when plugged to USB, and obviously not found by either gadgetbridge or mi Fit app.
EDIT: 10. The band wasn't broken, it just froze for a while but came back after some time.
Is the firmware upgrade (downgrade) factory resets the mi band 2? I mean it could fix the "band is paired with another person...." kind a bug when you cant use to mifit app?

no downgrade/upgrade will not reset mi band 2 simply cause it tied to xiaomi servers, only they can reset it and i already asked and they won't do it, bought it second hand and despite the other guy said that he removed it from his account it is still tied to his account, he just did a review and wanted to get rid of it, nevermind that, even if you can't use mi fit there is a perfect alternative trough which btw you can upgrade/downgrade your unpairable with official app, it's called Notification and Fitness for Mi Band, free version has pretty much all options you will ever need

I'm not missing the MiFit app, considering its collecting data for the xiaomi. I'm using the Notify app already, which is works fine. However I would like to try the MiBand Tools, which requires the MiFit app.
The only problem with the Notify I have, its constantly reminds me that I have an old firmware which I cannot update without the MiFit app. Until now. There is a list with the aviable firmware versions? Or how do I find the most recent?

latest one is 1.0.0.55 but i wouldn't recommend it, if you care about heart beat sensor, which is not working in this version
in 1.0.0.53 it's working just fine
Hi. Mine is fine after following Rambo29's direction. But I don't know how to disable auto-update in Mi Fit on iOS. After I downgraded to 1.0.0.39 by Android device, I connected my band on iPhone then it auto-updated to 1.0.0.53. But Heart rate still is okay. I wonder it will be updated to newest version or not ? Btw, thank you RAMBO29 a lot
I got the other problem now, after flashing back and forth i only have steps and HR sensor on display, enabling/disabling these options makes no difference, i even tried, draining the battery and flashing very old fw like 0.0.0.89, no dice
band does work properly otherwise
Ordered mine band last week and should arrive next week. hopefully it will work ok, otherwise i will follow your guide! thanks @RAMBO29

Very strange assuming the files are right ones. Try updating to latest version in phone and let it auto update and see if the HR measurement comes back.

well that's gonna be a problem, i can't use official mi fit app because i have this paired with another user problem, i updated to. 55 where sensor doesn't work and currently on. 53 where it does and as far as i know only official app can auto-update your band

like i said can't use official mi fit app due to paired with another user problem, i use notify and fitness app which has this option as well and with new fw 1.0.1.34 i can toggle all options on and off except for distance and calories, they won't show up at all, this could be due to app itself or fw, i don't really know
Thanks, thanks, thanks! Thank you! Worked flawlessly!
Everything worked fine bro, now caller name is not displayed now. Sms sender name also not displayed. Currently i am on 1.0.0.39. if anyone has solution to caller name without bricking hrm , please share here. Thanks again
Just ordered one, hope it works ok. Thanks for the share.
The heart rate sensor on my brand new Mi Band 2 simply would not work, so I was following the instructions on this thread to downgrade its firmware in order to fix it. I unpaired the band from Mi Fit, uninstalled it, installed Gadgetbridge and flashed “Mili_pro_53.fw” to get it onto the older firmware. This went smoothly—the HR sensor was now working fine and the band was connected to Gadgetbridge. I should have stopped there.
However, the instructions said that I should flash “Mili_pro 2.2.1.fw” next, so that is what I did. After the firmware installation, the band and its HR sensor are still working fine, but it is showing up in Gadgetbridge as “not connected”. It is also showing up in the Bluetooth settings screen as unpaired.
I have tried tapping on it in Gadgetbridge to get it to connect, re-pairing and deleting it, but none of it has worked. Uninstalling Gadgetbridge and installing Mi Fit 2.2.1 and trying to pair it with it is also failing. The band simply won’t vibrate when on the pairing screen. I’ve uninstalled Mi Fit and reinstalled Gadgetbridge and it still says the band is not connected.
Is there any way for me to get out of this mess? If I could just get the Mi Band 2 to fully disconnect from my phone and pair it with it again, it should work, but how do I go about achieving that? Please help.

Issues with 12.1.2.0

I've updated with OTA stable update and it's seemed to mess things up. Now I can't attach attachments in any app, open dual apps, it comes up with complete action using and it's blank. It seems to make the phone useless now.
Even when trying to send things it doesn't want to attach it
I too have big problems after updating to Android 11 on the Global Mi10T Pro., but it's version 12.1.1.xxx for me.
Apps like GMail, Maps etc work ok. Many others like Chrome, Brave etc just hang. Gestures no longer work. Settings is unreliable.
PC Suite won't connect - it says I need to update my device.
I wonder whether I have to try a Factory Reset - but that's a pain with no proper backup of all the apps and their state.
EEA version 12.1.2.0 - CRAP!!!
@madnlooney: enable MIUI optimizations in developer options and you will solve problems.
My bugs: at once part of touchscreen where green phone is (for answering calls) just stops working. And it is not working in any app, in screen test app.... until reboot. And it happens randomly... I think this will be my last xiaomi device. I had mi max 3 for over 2 years without resets and stuff, worked like a charm (eu rom). I broke screen (waiting new screen atm).
additional problem (happened on previous versions): mobile data just stop working. I have to turn it off and than on again. I am using both SIM slots (private+work).
Now i have big problem with this since i am on a business trip outside my country and I have problems with phone (and factory reset is out of options, since I have AND USE bank app (among others - work apps), so no go). When I return I will ditch it and buy other brand...
This phone had problems on Android 10 and has problems now too. between mi max3 and this i had poco x3nfc and had problems with it too - I think xiaomi cant keep up with huge amount of models that puts to market.
has anyone maybe some solution to my problems?

Custom roms. Most of the apps will work out of the box if you don't root your device. Few of the banking apps that don't work can be solved with magiskhide...
Thanks, bit as I mentioned, not possible ATM, I cant open bootloader and I dont have access to bank, since i am >1500km out of my country.
Considering that is 2021, it looks like i am ditching xiaomi (after 7 years).

If we enable that, how to install split apk files? is there a solution for that too?
dual apps are miui thing, nothing to do with miui optimization
Well, EEA version 12.1.2.0 - is CRAP indeed!!!
It has been a childish attempt like: Hurray we are on android 11 too...!!!
First, they have not checked the main feature of a phone... To make and end Phone calls....
The "end" button does not respond sometimes. Randomly.
I've seen this reported in several discussions and no response from support.
Second, after the update to 12.1.2.0 SECOND SPACE broke..!!
The option to add and remove files disappeared.
A bad surprise, as the only option given, for the data you had saved in second space is to DELETE..
The import export option for files just vanished.
We can only hope that Miui 12.5 will make the Mi 10t Pro a descent Phone as it is an excellent hardware.
What I hate with this v12 is, (not sure if it was same with the previous ones) to be forced to use the mi search. If someone knows how to revert it back to Google search, will be greatly appreciated.
And if any Xioami staff or responsible seeing this message, i need to tell this. ’I don't have to use your crappy search *hit, and noone can force me to do something for a device I paid for. You have all the stupid ’features' and ads in a single thing. And the recommendations, ohh, will make me vomit...
Before you recommend me what to search for, let me recommend you something first. Go and learn why Google is doing the best with keeping the apps pure and simple. When I want to search for the best wines to drink for dinner, you're forcing me to see the turtle copulation video. What a smart software.
As I said before, if someone can help me to delete this useless app to the ground, will appreciate a lot.

Question Multiple users on a freaking tablet in the 21st freaking century!!! (a little frustrated :) )

I bought this Mi Pad 5 (EU version) in hopes to have multiple users to switch between.
There is an app, SwitchMe, which (I think) would solve my problems, but I just bought the damn thing and have no need to loose warranty just to unlock the bootloader and root it in order to use the beforementioned app.
The included solution from MIUI, second room, doesn't allow the second user, to connect to google. Nor easy way to switch between users (actually, easy way to switch to first user, but not back to second user, AND only while using the tablet and not from lock-screen).
The last thing I found on the internet was, to enable multiple users via developer options.
The way to enable multiple user is to turn off MIUI optimization. But that is not an option on my tablet. As in, there is no slider to swipe to off.
Have I missed anything? Are there any way to have multiple users on a freaking tablet in the 21st freaking century?
Save me! you wonderful super nerds!
Hello,
Try post #20 of this :
Cannot access Google
Hello, Just got the tablet, it was really quick. Ordered when it went for sale in Italy on Thursday and today Friday morning already received it. Maybe I'm one of the first to receive the tablet with Global ROM, but I'm going to ask anyway: I...
forum.xda-developers.com
I've had the same frustrations and can't for the life of me understand why Xiaomi would feel the compulsion to strip away Android's core multi-user stuff just to introduce a half-baked porrly thought out substitute. What if we're more than 2 in our household anyways ?
If the above suggestion kind of works for some google accounts, it won't for accounts supervised with family link. So if you wanted to share the tablet with a kid, registered as such, you're out of luck. I'm in the process of trying a custom ROM to get rid of MIUI, because I already can't stand the thing. And that makes me sad, because I thought such OEM nonsense had been left behind YEARS ago, and I can now see I was deeply mistaken :-(
So I have the pro version and I can connect to google just fine.
But when I go try it on the regular pad 5 yeah it can't connect both on second space and multiple users. Is it a rom issue maybe? that might get fixed?
Anyway.. to access multiple users try this:
1.Download Activity launcher from the play store.
2. Open the app and search for "multiple users".
Click on it and add users from there.
Extra step: press & hold on "multiple users" to create a shortcut to this menu to your home screen.
Make sure to enable Home screen shortcuts permission for the app first.
It's still inconvenient to use. Only way to access other profiles is from that settings menu.
And it won't connect to google, just wait and hit skip.

You can switch between the users using different passwords from the lockscreen. I'm using a different pattern for the second space.
You can switch to first and back to second user while using the tablet just you have to enable it from the settings. " add shortcut to home screen"
Also check the solutions on the mentioned thread above. I can see on post #24 someone got it connected to google on second space.
@Half Alive , you rock ! While I was waiting for Xiaomi to allow me to unlock the bootloader on my Pad 5, I tried your suggestion with Activity Launcher and, lo and behold, it worked ! I was able to add my son's Google account and family link is now doing its thing. Now, since the multiuser features are still there, why did Xiaomi jumped through hoops to hide them ? That still feels quite a bit dumb to me, but hey, as long as I can use them, I guess it'll do.
Thanks again !
I can confirm that the fix mentioned on the other thread is working to fix the login error on the second space Account. To solve the problem do the following:
* Go to Apps, show all
* Google Play Store -> uninstall updates
* Google Play Services -> uninstall updates (after this the app list disappear)
* You can go to the Play store and login
* Repeat for the other space if necessary
Thanks for the help

I posted my thread late December and unfortunately forgot all about it. Though I did have my dad and his wife staying over new year, so I was preoccupied.
Thank you for your replies and I will test the posted solution come dawn, and report back after that.
Thank you all for your contribution!
I am now a happy owner of a tablet with multiple users via second space. Not as polished as I would like it. But it works and I'm happy.
Thank you

Hi, can I have details on how you managed to get family link to work?
I tried to install my child's profile first but it wouldn't let me, kept hanging on family link manager. I also removed all accounts and added mine first and tried to set up multiple users but I couldn't set up the account. It would just loop on trying to contact Google. I also tried to uninstall updates and clear data on Google play and services without success.
Well, I ended up installing a phh GSI on it, because switching profiles was way too bothersome for everyday use in the end. So I can only try to remember, but I don't think I did anything other than what you said coupled with the trick mentionned by @Half Alive . I'm sorry I can't remember doing anything else :-/

Not a prob. Thanks anyway. I'll keep hacking away at it. Hopefully the MIUI 13 update sorts it. Otherwise I'll have to try an alternate rom too. Thanks.

Updated today to MIUI 13 Global version and.... not working. Again boot loop while configuring second space as a child's account
For anyone interested in setting up a managed child's account, I seemed to have figured it out. Take note, this is only for a single child's account on the Tab 5. Not for a tab being shared by two users.
When I first got the Tab, I set it up with a child's account and it was successful but I couldn't manage the account from family link and so tried to remove the accound and re add it but despite all the tricks above, it didn't work.
But this did work:
Totally factory reset the device and on the first boot set up the tab with the child's account. On this attempt everything went totally smooth (with no additional tricks). The account works fine and is totally managed by Family Link. Have been using it for almost a week smoothly.

With this particular option, one single child account, does it allow to install miui system updates? Tried with miui 12 with no luck

Yee, I updated to miui 13 a couple of weeks ago. No problem. But I did install family link on my phone to monitor the device. No problem on the update. All has been working smoothly.
