Re-cycling old SW3, always-on clock on desktop? - Sony Smartwatch 3

Hey, I have a leftover SW3 laying around and I'd like to use it as a regular clock on my desk. Is there any way to setup the always-on display setting to always stay at full brightness? Normally, the smartwatch dimms itself after 5 seconds and awaits touch or gesture inputs to wake the screen and show the time at full brightness.

in the developer's options there is a "Stay awake when charging" option, but it doesn't prevent the dimming.

found an App that works good so far: "Wear Charging Widget"

Disable Automatic Backlight Dimming while Charging

Hey Everyone,
I'm running into an issue, that i'm sure many of you have ran into at some point and found a way around.
When I have my Phone Plugged into the Charger (For example when in my car) after a set amount of time (I think it's around 30 seconds) my screen will Dim to only about 25% brightness(But never shut off completely). As you can imagine, this is horribly inconvenient when I'm running Google maps or sprint navigation.
How can I make it, so that when I'm charging the phone, the screen just always stays on and does not dim at all? And then when i'm on battery the screen resumes the normal behavior of shutting off after 30 seconds.
I've tried setting the "Stay Awake" option under "Applications > Development" to on, I've also tried setting the "Automatic Brightness" option under "Sound & Display > Brightness" to off. Neither of these worked.
The only thing that DOES work, is setting the "Screen Timeout" option under "Sound & Display" to "Never turn Off". But this disables the Automatic Shutoff of the screen even when on battery.
Anyone have a solution for me? My phone is rooted using Toast's method.
My screen never did this (Droid Incredible) until I installed then uninstalled Widget Locker. Now I can't get it to stay lit for Google Maps or anything for that matter, which is infuriating since it worked fine YESTERDAY (and the previous two months).
Setting? Service? Anyone know?
wow, that is silly. I can not find a way to do that either. I don't know why they would still have it dim when you check to keep awake when plugged in.
have you tried 'Screen On' from the market?

Yeah this was driving me nuts too. I ended up downloading an app called Screen On. Its a toggle that will disable the dimming, and basically keep the screen on until you turn it off (either through the toggle or menu bar).

[Q] display sleep?????

does anyone know if I can turn off the display sleep?
the reason I ask is this, when I use my sling box app the screen times out. I have it set to ten minutes, so at 10 minutes it turns off.
I use my phone at work to watch tv, I have the mhl adapter with charger plugged in so it is not like I am chewing up battery.
when using netflix it seems to be fine, as is it does not turn off.
Is this something that can be controlled by the phone or is it a slingbox app problem?
thanks all
Yes - you can go into settings and set stay awake while charging (developer options).
However, I noticed that in the display settings there is not a choice for "No Timeout", which is weird.
So here is the method I use and would recommend.
Install the Quick Profiles App
Setup a profile for "Always On" and make sure the screen timeout is never timeout
If you like the app the pro version lets you have custom icons and is .99, i've upgraded and found it to be really nice

Ambient mode brighter than when watch is actually on?

For some weird reason, my ambient mode goes brighter than when my watch is active (when I use it). I want to lower the ambient brightness... Anyway to do that?
By the way I'm using watch maker premium, and it does it for every single watch face....
Figured it out... It was due to an app called "advanced settings" and how it manages the screen saver brightness...

Night Mode for Always on Display

Can anyone tell me if there is a built-in "night mode" on the 2XL? Coming from an S7 Edge there was an option in the settings that at a preset time the always on display would switch to a very minimal display that was only across one edge of the screen, it made for a nice alarm clock without being too bright overnight, then at a preset time it would revert to its normal settings of a large clock, displaying notifications, calendar etc.
I know I could use something like Alarm Clock Plus, but am trying to avoid having to install an app if there is built in functionality to do the same thing.
Thanks.
no
Short and sweet. Thanks. There are definitely a couple things Google could learn from Samsung on just small things like that though.
yep. but in the dark the ambient display is not bright so dont be afraid of burning your eyes.
The closest thing I have to what you are asking is using Tasker to turn off AOD when DND is enabled.
I have a profile to enable DND overnight, which in turn disables AOD.

That's not a bad idea, I paid for Tasker long ago (run it on my Nexus 7 in the car) so it would just be a case of setting it up on the Pixel.
There is a clock screensaver for when phone is plugged. I don't use always on display but want to be able to see clock without touching phone. You can adjust tue brightness of it via nightmode switch. Under display - screensaver h clock ...

In case you were wanting to actually implement this, I double checked how I did it, and it's with the paid plugin "AutoTools".
I turn the AOD on when I'm connected to BT in my car since it's on a mount and also off at 10pm. If the task runs when your screen is off you do need to turn your screen on for it to take effect. So I check if my screen is off. If it is I have it turn on and off briefly.
trigger always on using tasker auto tools
New Task
Plugin -> Autotools -> Secure Settings
Configure
Custom Setting
Setting Type = "Secure"
Name = "doze_always_on"
Input Type = "Int"
Value = "0" OFF/ "1" ON
I've done some testing and I can't tell if it even works...not sure if a reboot is required or what each time...maybe someone else can add to this.
The below article might be fine for a stock Rom, but doesn't seem to work on Nitrogen with a kernel/magisk.
You need to have ambient brightness turned on though, otherwise, the default values are used and these overrides don't work.

If you hit the battery saver before you go to bed that will deactivate always on.
Turn battery saver off in the morning and always on will be back on.
Should solve your problem!
Or just flip the screen over. That deactivates it as well.

Oneplus weather on ambient display

I am not sure why, but sometimes I get the weather on the ambient display, and sometimes I don't. Any ideas what needs to be done?
Thanks
I found the ambient display of weather only works when its charging, and for a little while later after I take it off the charger. I have battery optimization turned off. What could be causing this?? Strange.
No idea. I also have this
Me too, sometimes I get the weather on the ambient display, and sometimes I don't... It's weird...
The weather is shown at dawn or the first hours of use (when you wake up, for example). Is like a resume for the day.
Ambient display shows relevant information depending on what are you doing or the hour of the day.
Why not just have a choice to display it all day?
