LineageOS 18.1 is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 11/R, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Installation:
Download the latest build from here
Download LinkBoi00's version of TWRP here
Reboot to bootloader (adb reboot bootloader)
Fastboot into TWRP recovery (fastboot boot twrp*.img)
Do a factory reset in TWRP
Flash the latest build of Lineage OS
Boot into your new phone
Optional:
Most of us will want the basic functionality like Google Play, Maps and others, therefore I recommend downloading Gapps. You choose your own, but I recommend OpenGapps. They are among the few that can survive OTA updates.
If you do this, I recommend booting into the new LineageOS first, then reboot to recovery, do a factory reset and then only flash the gapps. If you don't do this, the gapps won't install properly

Ending words:
This is a follow-up to the Lineage 17.1 ROM that I was working on. You cannot just upgrade from it to this via the system updater, you have to go through the process above. As said before, this is mostly possible due to Lyceris-chan, go support him. If you have any errors or questions feel free to ask in the thread. As for official status, might happen, probably not, I don't have enough time to make the push. As for MicroG, I plan to publish a build too, keep an eye out on xda. If I failed to credit you, make yourself known.

MicroG:
If you know what this is, then feel free to install it. This is the same ROM as above, but "debloated" of Google Services that are replaced with open-source alternatives. It mainly works the same, but most daily users will prefer the "normal version". This ROM has its own separate OTA engine, so it should receive updates over it too. You can download it here. The install process is very similar, just don't install Gapps at the end.

Thanks for the rom, is enforcing like lineage 17.1?.

Thanks for this new rom. Great work on the previous one (Lineage 17.1)

Is enforcing to get more security and asked for a password when start up android? If I update on next OTA, can I get this function without erase all my data?

I get bootloop on first reboot after flashing the ROM. I followed your installation guide.

I installed it without any error or bootloop. Are you doing clean install? Is your twrp version new?( I used 3.5.0_9.1.) What was your current rom?

Maybe you should try this twrp https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-twrp-recovery-for-xiaomi-mi-a2-lite.4178901/
After formatting data, wipe everything except sdcard. I put necessary files on sdcard.
And after the step that you install the rom, install twrp installer, too. And before rebooting system, don't forget to change your slot(from reboot menu), and reboot to recovery again. Than i installed gapps and magisk and rebooted system. Everything gone well.

No, if you want to encrypt, you will have to wipe your data. But I think that you can do a twrp backup and restore after the encrypting

Can you send me a screenshot.

Very happy with the new ROM. Good job!

Thanks for providing this new version, I did a clean install today. Everything seems to work fine except the default browser - no matter if I use mobile data or wi-fi, it can't open any page

@reujea0 Thanks for the rom and all your efforts.
Which opengapps package do you recommend ?
And which is the biggest package we could safely flash to avoid twrp' s error 70 ?

Awesome news, I can't wait to download the first build once the build servers spit it out! Thanks for everyone's continued work on the m9! I'm sure a lot of non-VZ folks will be excited as well!
I'm assuming we should be on the latest Verizon 6.0 firmware for this, 3.37.605.19? (Edit: At time of posting)

As long as you are on any MM firmware. It might not be till next week for official build. You can go ahead and download my custom build to make sure all the bugs are out before official builds get here.

volte will probably never work on hima aosp roms. HTC have weird modems.
Looking forward to the official LineageOS 14.1 release for the Verizon HTC M9. Thanks for all your hard work, Flyhalf.
In addition to the OS update, I was also looking to update to the latest firmware, 3.37.605.19. I'm currently on the latest unofficial LineageOS 13.0 release from 03/16 with firmware 3.37.605.15.
2 part question--to simply update the firmware, is the correct firmware to flash the 3.37.605.19_NoBoot-NoRecovery_firmware.zip from santod's thread? And is it safe to flash future firmware updates as they are released?
Just trying to avoid any incompatibility with LineageOS (if that's even a thing) and a bricked device.
Thanks!

Not sure about the firmware version, but keep in mind if you flash the "NoRecovery" firmware, you'll need to flash twrp separately. I just installed "3.37.605.19_NoBoot_TWRP3.0.2-0_firmware.zip" without any issues. I'm on latest LOS 13.0

Well technically the latest firmware is 3.37.605.28 as of a day or two ago... But to answer you question, yes. All you have to do is flash the NoBoot-NoRecovery_firmware.zip and is perfectly fine to flash future updates.
Remember: Make sure you use the NoBoot No Recovery or else you'll have to find a computer to flash twrp back onto it and flash LineageOS before your phone can boot again.
Thank you both for your replies. Slightly different answers, so I just need 1 thing clarified.
I currently have TWRP installed. If I flash the No Boot-No Recovery, will it only update the firmware and leave TWRP in place and untouched?

Yes
Battery life seems slightly worse than 13.0 was for me. I'm not a heavy screen-on-time user, so most drain is just passive standby screen off time. If I had to randomly guess, the screen-off drain rate is maybe 35% faster on 14.1 so far.
I have the performance profile set to Efficiency, as I did in 13.0. I may root (or use ADB) and have a look at wakelocks, but based off the battery "History Details" in Settings, the phone does not seem to be getting stuck awake for extended periods of time or anything. I periodically monitored battery voltages too and the battery percentage seems to be accurate, though I don't really have anything to base that on other than knowledge of LiPo/Li-ion batteries.
I'll follow up if I discover anything helpful, but has anyone else noticed slightly worse screen-off battery performance too?
Ok, can someone here tell me how to get root access on this rom? I have tried flashing the armsupersuaddon and armsupersux64 zips, neither worked. Then I tried enabling root access in the dev options and installing SuperSu from the store, that seemed to and went ahead and attempted to install binaries, but now my phone is bootlooping...I am on the latest nightly if that helps, but the first one didn't work with the flashable zips either.
I got root by installing "the LineageOS su add-on", as described in the wiki: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/himawl/install#installing-lineageos-from-recovery (addon zip comes from https://download.lineageos.org/extras, "addonsu-arm64-signed.zip").
I tried that one...didn't work. Might try it again after I get my phone setup again, but that's going to take a long while. Ended up having to factory reset, so I need to download a hundred apps and reset all my 2 factor authentications...all for root. Not keen to go through this again.

After you flash the root addon zip you have to enable root in developer settings and it should work after that. I know it is a pain but you may want to try to start over again.
But a lot of users are using root less and less these days. I don't have root currently on mine. Don't need it.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot...and I agree about root. I only wanted it because I have the Pixel launcher flashed to my phone as a system app, but its been glitching up and making it to where I cannot swipe cards away on google now, so I was going to install pixelize and use that to see if it's version of the launcher didn't have the issue. So I found myself needing root for the first time since my M7.

Reboot your device.
Once the device is turned on then download the latest Magisk Manager to manage it.
Your device is rooted by now
Always remember to do backups before doing such changes.

When USB connected to a computer, I can't access the storage ?
The phone is in charge-only mode by default on Oreo,
due to a stronger security logic regarding unauthorised data access.
Swipe down the notifications and change the USB mode.
Against advice, I upgraded without GApps and now it crashes. Any way without factory reset ?
Yes there is, but nothing assures you'll manage to do it fully & preserve all your data...
Once booted, keep saying Ok to all "Unfortunately, ... has stopped",
pull-down the notifications panel, press the Settings icon,
go in Apps, menu, Show System, scroll to Setup Wizard (green Android logo),
Permissions, and activate Contacts + Telephone.
Later, some Play Store apps may need reinstalling.
If not working, then I advise a clean factory-reset reinstallation...

I know that I'm not supposed to post issues with applications.
But I have an issue with several camera-applications except the default one.
When I try to take a picture with them, it looks like a picture is done but none is stored. Sometimes the application even freezes.
I tried SimpleCamera and OpenCamera.
Does anybody else have this issue and does anybody know how to solve it?

What is the latest version of Magisk that is know to successfully root Lineage 15.1? Any links?
Not able to install GApps
I struggle installing lineageOS along with oppen GApps on my Motorolla G 5. I use TWRP 3.1.1 cedric. I installed lineage-15.0-20171125_073252-UNOFFICIAL-cedric. If I install the OS without the GApps (pico 8.0 ARM) booting works just fine. I can also install GApps after first boot. The installation runs well. But of course I cant start the GApps probably. If I install both together I am stuck in a bootloop. I probably tried every combination of swiping cache installing the zips I can think of. Downloaded everything twice. Made chek5sum etc. Any ideas?
Would there be an official lineage OS ROM for Moto G5 (which can get regular nightly builds with android security patches) ?

I'd like to notice that there's already existing LineageOS 15.1 (based on Android 8.1) for Moto G5 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5/development/rom-lineageos-15-1-t3722188). If you decide to install Gapps alongside with LOS 15.1 (or even 15.0), follow this tutorial https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5/how-to/how-to-repair-bootloop-oreo-roms-t3791189 to avoid bootloop. Clean flash and 64bit TWRP is required. Install Gapps and use tutorial above before the first boot for correct functionality.

Huge thanks! I have a lot of apps, and backup all of this it's gonna take some time... But I'll take an Android backup first.
Just an question: is this rom (even 15.0 or 15.1) causing IMEI problems? I read somewhere that if change mind and go back to nougat, I'll lose IMEI and ril. How can I prepare my device before upgrade? Thanks again for helping!!!

The most you can do is doing a backup of your persist/modem (if loss of IMEI occurs, never ever flash persist/modem from other than yours phone). These two partitions contain radio "stuff", including IMEI. However, you can't mess IMEI while changing CustomROMs. If you'd like to revert to StockROM someday, just do not run fastboot erase commands. Even if you forget to exclude them and your IMEI will get wiped, there's tutorial for G5 Plus that works flawlessly in Moto G5 too - tried it (link here https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/how-to/fix-persist-resolve-imei0-explanation-t3825147). It will work as long as you do not flash somebody's other persist or modem.
Camera apps keep crashing for me
I am using this rom: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5/development/rom-lineageos-16-0-t3885211
After unlocking the bootloader, I flashed TWRP. Then I did a wipe, flashed the rom, and then the GApps zip.
Everything seemed to work just fine. However, both the Lineage camera app and the Motorola camera app from the play store keep crashing. Interestingly, for simpler apps the camera works just fine (WhatsApp, for example).

-------------- USE MAY BUILD FOR STABILITY (JUNE IS JUST AN EXPERIMENT) ----------------------
LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.4.4 (KitKat), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restores the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
Code:
/*
* I'm not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed (like it did for me...).
* Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in the products you find here before flashing it!
* YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
* Your warranty will be void if you tamper with any part of your device/software. Hey, it's armani, no voided warranties here!
* Same statement for XDA.

CURRENT SECURITY PATCH LEVEL
2019-02-01
Important information:
The following is NOT SUPPORTED: custom kernels, xposed, mods. Do not report bugs if you use any of those.
To report a bug, explain how to reproduce it and ATTACH LOGS (logcat and dmesg). Without logs, bug reports will be ignored.
Kitkat modem/bootloader is required.
Changelog:
Updated security fixes
Install instructions:
Reboot into recovery (latest TWRP required).
Wipe data, system, and cache.
No wipes required if you're updating from a previous official build of Lineage (wipe cache and Dalvik cache recommended).
Flash ROM and, optionally, Gapps. Root is already present (userdebug variant)
Testers are very much appreciated! It is because of you people who test and give me updates that inspire me to build
The whole objective of this is to bring the latest security updates to the pretty old Redmi 1S, whilst keeping its fluid performance.
I just have to make this stable - and then just bring out security patches.
Bugs, you tell me.
And this ROM might not be updated every week as I'm in class 12th right now - but you can expect me to bring out a ROM for the next few months.
Install at your risk.

Thank you for testing it out.
However, I have personally tested it (it's my daily ROM) and it has booted up fine.
Do you have encryption on from the previous ROM?
Try formatting System, data, cache, dalvik and internal storage, and then try installing.

I performed a full wipe(system, cache,Dalvik cache, Data, Internal storage) before flashing this rom & flashed this rom using adb sideload in twrp.
I tried to reset the phone when encrypyion unsuccessful message appears but still no success.
I flashed firmware 8.2.1.0 zip before flashing this.

Enable KVM on our kernel?
Hi @malvigagan,
If possible could you please enable KVM support for our kernel?
Or could you provide a guide to do so and compile the kernel.

Hmm I don't know any kernel for our device but Samsung galaxy s8 has a kernel with KVM enabled and nowadays all Xioami, Realme etc. devices comes with KVM enabled.
Apparently we have to add this to the config-
CONFIG_VIRTUALIZATION=y
CONFIG_KVM=y
CONFIG_KVM_MMIO=y
CONFIG_KVM_ARM_HOST=y
I will try setting up my computer for development and try this.
Do you have an instructions for how to compile the kernel on my machine? Is it similar to compiling normal Linux kernel or I will have to setup cross compilers?

@abhishekraj, I have asked @hemantbeast bro, he's already implemented KVM on Phantom Kernel.
You can check, according to him it has been implemented, but not present in any KK kernel because device can handle KitKat easily, but this ROM has kernel based off his Phantom source which has KVM enabled

Additional installation instructions if coming from stock MIUI:
In order to install a custom ROM you must have an unlocked bootloader. You can apply for this at Xiaomi's official site: https://en.miui.com/unlock/
You then need to install a custom recovery. Official TWRP builds are available, and the official maintainer has a thread with installation instructions here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...covery-unofficial-twrp-xiaomi-mi-mix-t3941867
Once you have TWRP installed, boot into recovery mode. Wipe cache, dalvik, system, vendor partitions.
You are strongly advised to flash the latest modem firmware. You can grab that here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/xiaomi-andromeda/files/firmware.zip/download
WARNING: You will lose all saved files on your internal storage in the next step, make a backup of important files before proceeding
Data partition must be formatted (not wiped) to remove forced encryption. Use the bottom right "Format Data" button in the Wipe menu. You will be asked to type "yes" to confirm your choice.
At this point your internal storage will be empty. Copy the ROM from your PC to the phone, click install in TWRP and select the ROM. If you wish to install gapps/nanodroid, copy it to the phone and install after the ROM. Once you have flashed the ROM and any add ons, you must format internal storage again. Internal storage must be completely empty for the very first custom ROM boot, once a custom ROM has been installed and you want to swap to a different one, further formatting is not necessary.
Reboot back to system and enjoy custom ROM goodness
Reserved
Thanks, been waiting for this. Will test it out
Just switched to this one because Xiaomi probably won't ever release Q for andromeda. Working great so far!

PS. Thanks for your work delivering that ROM.

I got no problem with headphones here.
Stock LineageOS Snap camera can't do 60fps or 4k recording. There are plenty of camera apps on the play store that have these options.
If you want to use GCam then this port is the most compatible with andromeda, it can do 1080p/60fps and 4k/30fps video recording. https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/GCam_7.3.018_Urnyx05-v1.9.apk
This GCam port does not work with selfie camera at all, you must use the built in Snap cam for that. My suggestion would be to set the slider to open the default camera app and to have have GCam on your home screen.
Phone is not rooted, but many apps do not work because they think its rooted. I.E. Revolut, banking apps, Outlook, Teams. Is there an workaround for this?

This problem with false positives happens on stock ROMs as well. When I owned a Zuk Z1, loads of apps thought the stock ZUI was a rooted custom ROM. Not a lot can be done about it because each app uses it's own detection method and the companies that make these apps obviously aren't going to broadcast the detection methods they use.
You may have success running these apps by actually rooting your phone and using Magisk Hide on the apps that don't work.
It's the first time I install a non-official Lineage ROM and I've found that both SELinux and device encryption are disabled. I also got a notification saying this was due to the ROM being built with public keys?
I don't know if this is normal and if there's something I can do to enable SELinux and searching for solutions hasn't returned any
Also, what's the keys thing about?
Thanks for your efforts!

I'm not on the LineageOS team so I don't have access to their build system or their private keys, hence the warning about public keys. If you really want encryption it is possible but would involve formatting your data partition again and losing all your files. Writing SELinux policy is a bigger task than porting the ROM and I'm only one guy working alone in his free time. If you try to force SELinux to enforcing mode it's quite likely the ROM won't even boot.
If you're worried about a security risk, considering you have unlocked your boot loader and installed an unknown firmware from a random person on the internet, I would say you have already made a decision concerning your phone's security. All my source code is linked in the first post, so feel free to look it over to make sure I'm not doing anything shady

Well, I've never read a better argument for security! I'll try to learn about writing a SELinux policy and will PR you if I can get it to work in my own device. Once again, thank you very much for your contribution!
Hello
Great Job. Hope you could be merged soon in Official build, they announce a relaxed form in order to submit devices BTW.
Also, i'm trying to get encryption working and i'm stuck.
Like my old phone, after a fresh install a go to encrypt my phone.
I have a little droid during few seconds and a reboot (without progressing bar, a classic boot).
After checks phones still unencrypted.
Just for my reminder here are the steps:
- Flash MIUI EEA
- Boot MIUI
- Fastboot > flash TWRP
- Reboot Recovery
- Wipe Cache, System, Vendor, Data
- Install firmware
- Format Data
- Install lineage
Is it correct ?

I have testing builds with encryption enabled. The good news is the next update will have encryption enabled, bad news is you'll have to format data partition again to get it working.
The LineageOS team have added in Qualcomm's Bluetooth stack so I've uploaded a new build. You probably won't notice any changes because these are "under the hood" improvements, but if you have some high end headphones you may hear a difference!
Also this build and all future builds have encryption enabled. Unfortunately this means you will need to format your data partition in order to install this build, but this is a one time only thing. I can also confirm that F2FS is working perfectly with encryption if you wish to change filesystems. I can also confirm you can switch to a different ROM without formatting (just the usual wipes) so long as the new ROM you are installing is also encrypted. This change might mean that you can come straight from MIUI without formatting but this is completely untested by me.
Here's the link, and remember you MUST format internal storage if you are on an unencrypted build:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/xi....1-20200630-UNOFFICIAL-andromeda.zip/download
I have tried to flash after format data partition, but I had a bootloop. I was forced to do a clean install after that. I don't know why, but it's working now.
Thanks for your work

You can backup your apps using an app like Swift Backup, however do note that you need to be rooted so as to grant it SU permission. Use OrangeFox recovery latest official, it works great! You might not need to format data if you want to use the ROM in decrypted form. Just have to flash DFE once before booting.
This is how it usually works, nonetheless do check with the maintainer once.
Thanks

Okay, thanks for the heads up. Oh, I'm a root user so I'll flash magisk afterwards anyway.
Is swift backup able to backup all apps and working properly after restored? And which orangefox is recommended? I see there are 4.4 and 4.14 ones.
So, just flash DFE after the ROM without formatting data will work?
I'm really really confused about all this FBE n decryption things. Last time i checked it was SAR and non SAR ROMs. Now on most ROMs (like arrow, pe and previous a11 evox etc), they got encryption by default, which is really not my cup of tea. SO I'd rather stay decrypted after doing some reading.

Also if we can connect on Telegram, I can share the DFE file to you in case you haven't found it yet. Basically it allows you to use an FBE ROM without the encryption.
