This app is originally named LineageOS Snap Camera, it used to be (and still) a very good camera app, however I didn't see the real snap camera on S7 ROMs yet.
You can report a bug to the ROM developer, I've tried my Snap Camera on Pixel Experience Q and the flash is working just fine.
Perhaps you forgot to change flash mode? Keep in note that not all AOSP ROMs have the same exact camera app, even though the icon might look alike.

That's really strange ...
I can advise you to update your Bootloader and Modem, I remember when I had Galaxy Note 3, using an older modem resulted in Camera malfunctions deeper than yours.
Last BL: G930FXXU8ETI2 | CP: G930FXXS8ETCZ
You don't need these exact version, just anything with U8/S8 that's more recent than your current ones.

Time to update ^^

After update, nothing change

Sad to hear that; it appears your device is one of those with a little bit DIFFERENT hardware, which requires drivers to be functional.
They can be gained through modifying the Kernel, of which you may use custom kernels and check.
You may use ThunderStorms, Moro, swap kernels of AOSP ROMs (like using boot.img of LineageOS 18.1 on crDroid 7.2).
If this doesn't work for you, you better chat with a developer for a more precise enlightenment.

You can simply disable/hide/uninstall it from adb shell... Easy way...

e/rom uses open camera and better than snap camera. The rom itself is based on Lineage OS MicroG and has OTA updates..

I have Used E rom for the last 2years and the only issue I ever had was the ota updates was broken for a short time and had to install them manually.Other than that I have been happy with this rom and still happy to use it.
My phone is a samsung s7 and it runs e rom great! .I also have a samsaug s4 mini running this rom.I can say for sure this rom runs great on samsungs.I have used lineage OS and for me E rom works better than llineage OS.and I am having a much better user experience .

Download the most recent dated rom.
this works and is pretty nice.
only issue is the camera crashes giving a "unknown error, closing camera" message when trying to take a picture. works for video.
no FM radio driver.
But on the plus side I was having GPS issues with stock ZVI and ultrapop. I thought I'd try a different rom to see if it was a software not hardware issue. With this rom I get GPS lock in ~10sec, definitely better than I ever have had on any stock based roms.
so only real issue is camera no worky for pictures.
also using Lamda kernel
update: seems to be a problem saving the picture. tried other apps and they seem to work fine until taking a picture then the app menu freezes...camera part of the app still shows live camera and doesn't give the error message. also tried legacy and aicp roms both camera's work (snap, same version as this rom) but neither of those can I get mobile data to work so back to this rom.

Thank you for your report !
Does not work for me, the screen goes black after installing from TWRP and rebooting, exactly the same as I reported here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-g2/development/rom-lineageos-14-1-quicksilver-t3608561. I reverted back to cm-12.1-20161016-NIGHTLY-ls980.zip, which works fine. Does it have anything to do with the ls980 Japanese display kernel modules? It's been years since I had to screw with that.
The device has been added to official sources. I will update on a weekly.
Good work.

The TWRP version should be up to date. You should not use 2.8.x versions. Use version 3.x.
camera doesn't work, this has been fix in other roms for awhile now, like the first version of this rom. also couldn't get LTE working as I could with the first version.
Camera error
Many thanks for the ROM is great And that someone keeps alive the ls980 is even more great

[Tutorial] How to find out which camera sensor you have(Sony or Samsung)?

The S3 neo comes in two variants:
a) two samsung cameras
b) non-selfie-camera from sony(imx 175) and samsung selfie-camera.
At this point we have 2 working los 14.1 and it is good to know which one you need.
METHOD: Hidden Menu
Now I have an update to figure out which sensor you have. This I have from Thargorsson.
THIS WILL ONLY WORK ON YOUR (MEANS WITH WORKING CAMERA) STOCK ROM!
1) Dial *#34971539#
2) pick up this option: "Phone/Cam FW Check"
3) Show me what you see
Click to collapse
It should be E08QT or B08QT.
E08QT = SAMSUNG
B08QT = SONY
Thanks to kickivivi :good:
He collected lots of information.
Methods who will work 100%:
Method 1:
2. if you had to flash camfix on NIKOLAI's cm12.1, i.e. the official cm12.1, then you have samsung sensors
Click to collapse
3. if you had to flash camfix on Leo's fixed cm12.1 then you have sony sensors
Click to collapse
In neo Homies group Kickyvivi added:
leos nov build of cm12.1 was for sony sensor. after that he changed his repos to support samsung sensors when he started building from stock blobs
his final cm12.1 build i.e. dec 23rd one was for samsung sensors
Click to collapse
So it depends on which build of Leos you installed.
Method 2:
Install Los 14.1 for Samsung:
LOS with working Samsung cams:
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=673956719939827464
If both cam work you have samsung else sony.
Method 3:
Take a logcat on stock rom. Open camera and close it. Search in logcat for imx175. If it is in there you have sony cam if not samsung.
These have unfortunately proven to be not 100% reliable:
Method 4:
1. if you are on stock, use the hw app and it will show the correct info.
Click to collapse
You can use those apps like:
- Device Info HW
- Phone INFO ★Samsung★
But they only work on stock because the read whats in roms data.
BEWARE:
On Neo Homies some people reported to get false results. So the results are not always reliable.
Method 5:
4. Now a little more harder way:
If you have your stock rom's odin flash zip on computer, you can extract it using winrar and an ext4 unpacker. after extracting the system.img.ext4, look in /system/lib..... if you see files like 'B08QT_libTs_J_Accm' i.e. files with B08QT at the top of the list, then you have sony imx sensor. But if you have files starting with 'E08QL' then you have samsung s5k4h5yb sensor.
Click to collapse
Also there are stocks roms which contain both files. So this is also not reliable.
Special thanks go to:
- Kickyvivi
- Neo Homies Telegram group
UPDATE
Hello,
we found out that some stock roms have files for both cameras. So method number 4 is not reliable .
We found out that on the same country there are samsung and sony neos. We did not find a system yet.
Update: Easiest method
The neo homies user EdgyIsHere made this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3311213
1. Go to Play Store and download a app called AIDA64.
2. After you did that, open the app.
3. Once you're in the app, go to the "Devices" tab and search for the "Camera ID" string.
4. If it starts with "SLSI_s5k4", you need to download a ROM from here for your S3 Neo model that has "NI" and "NJ" in the PDA and/or CSC. If your country doesn't have any ROM with that specifications, download another from a neighbor country.
If it starts with "SONY_IMX", you need to download a ROM from here for your S3 Neo model that doesn't have "NI" and "NJ" in the PDA and/or CSC. If your country doesn't have any ROM with that specifications, download another from a neighbor country.
Click to collapse
That means if your stock rom has "NI" and "NJ" in the PDA and/or CSC it is Samsung If not it IS Sony.
well seems indeed i have sony sensors, thats wired thats dont show in hw app
CyanogenMod 12 by Rox works fine without the need to Camera Fix
can i just replace camera sensor and get it to work with the roms?

Yes, Leo did it by himself. It is possible just to change the camera hardware. Technically the samsung camera will work with the motherboard of sony edition and the other way round.

Hello
I downloaded the app aida64 ...... but the voice devices I can not find ..... I find devices ....
and anyway tells me camera not aviable ....
I have lianeage 14.1 .....
how do I do it because the camera does not work ......
Hello and thanks
Guys, need some clarification here.
Here's the phone: GT-i9301I
Baseband: I9301IXXUAPG1
Build number: KOT49H.I9301IXCSAQA2
Service menu: E08QLHI01CI
As far as I know, E08 is supposed to be the Samsung camera, which is supposedly common on stock firmware with a PDA XC. My question is if the mismatch between baseband and build number (XX and XC respectively) is important? If yes, then PDA refers to the build number, right?
I installed LineageOS 16 on my Samsung Galaxy SIII Neo a year ago and now I want to update to LineageOS 17, but I can't remember anything about my camera.
However when I browse the contents of the filesystem (with FX on the rooted phone) I see a lot of E08QL_* files in SYSTEM/VENDOR/LIB (and no B08QL_* files). Does that mean that I have a Samsung rear camera? Or isn't that a safe bet?
Cheers,
mai
i have installed INFO DEVICE HV but it does not put me the brand or vendor
I have lineage 16 .....
I have Samsung Galaxy S III Neo with LineageOS 17.1. I have a similar problem with the camera. Both rear and front are not worked on LineageOS 17.1. Even the camera app does not appear in the app list. When I open the "Open Camera" or another camera app, it gets stuck on the black screen. In fact, both rear and front cameras did not work on stock ROMs. Actually, I couldn't find which stock ROM suited my device before installing LineageOS. I tried lots of stock ROMs but only the rear camera work on Romania and Open Australia stock ROMs. When I checked with AIDA64 and codes in the stock ROMs where the rear camera was running, I saw that the model of the device was "s3ve3gxx". Therefore, I flashed lineage-17.1-20210809-nightly-s3ve3gxx (Samsung Galaxy S III Neo / Sony Camera). I installed LineageOS 17.1 hoping it would fix my camera and battery draining problem. However, I experience many problems, including not working of camera and flashlight, overheating, battery draining. How can I solve this issue do you have any idea?
*** On the other hand, the battery was running out very quickly in the stock ROM (with DBT code) where the two cameras were not working. The app that consumes the most battery is called "mm-qcamera-daemon".

Android P on Redmi 5 Plus

For those who want to try Android P here are the how-to.
I just sharing the experience, I´m not involved in the project.
The sources will free-up for the ends of the month so maybe some dev could put his hands on it.
For now it´s unlikely unstable and with some bugs but usable for a basics and sharing some issues could be solved.
A good introducing for a better comprehension :

This is the general thread:

These are the steps for our device:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77101817&postcount=308
Maybe someone can wipe too system adding to the steps of wiping from recovery and only will stay vendor partition needed to boot.
Other links:
Treble rom base: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5/development/rom-cardinalaosp-t3774232
Recovery used for this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/re.../official-orangefox-recovery-project-t3807479
I tried before with the latest recovery provided for miui 10 (vince_treble_twrp-jay-port-v3), I formatted data to can boot as indicated for some users in the thread but never boot and never recovered the ability to see files and flash nothing more directly (but adb sideload) from this twrp version, any of the three no-verity/lazyflasher/antibootloop worked for this so I started again with Orange Fox recovery. (although any treble recovery could work following right steps indicated)
No need to flash callfix.zip.

I didn´t try many, for me it´s in beta level yet but as far as I know VoLTE is a global bug in all devices yet and camera2api it´s not working for me but maybe with other mods can work so in some devices it works, but we can expect that as many users and devs take part of this then we get more advance. I hope that users can share the experiences and so help others.
I use android p. And for me this gsi is much better than los 15.1 ... except for fingerprint. 2api camera works great! only first you need to flash .zip 2api, only after that install the camera application! The battery holds well, and is pleasant and smooth to use.)) I love the new from Google)

I got DP4 installed on the Redmi 5 Plus 3GB version. It does work and you can use it but there are some major problems and the rom is totally unusable.
- the launcher crashes constantly (pixel launcher isn't responding) so you lose your navigation and phone is unusable
- even when the launcher isn't crashed everything is so slow (20 seconds to open any app) and the pill switcher is 10 seconds to open
- no double tap to wake phone is a joke
- no fingerprint sensor at all
- no volte
- no camera
- google treble is full of bloatware that you are forced to download for the phone to work
- dark theme doesn't work on settings
All in all a total fail by google just like their new gmail interface, but well done to the developer who tried to port it.
Guys don't waste your time with this just install a normal custom rom.
If you must try it take a nandroid backup first and after restoring your nandroid backup there is a stupid bug in TWRP you have to use file manager to delete /data/system/locksettings.db to get back into your phone!

What do you mean by slider mechanism not working?
You can still use the selfie camera but have to launch it yourself?

Special thanks to
@Cozzmy13 for working on perseus, giving me some inspiration on how to get things working here.
@tytydraco for some help debugging the kernel
@Quantumkk123 for being my first beta tester and helping me solve issues with telephony. He has also set up a telegram chat for Mix 3 5g development here: https://t.me/mimix3_5G

Ha, you made one, should make you and a few others very happy.
I can't download the rom, there's an error on the webpage, it says that there's no file, can you help me please? i want really to try it, finally a custom rom for our 5g version, thanks for your hard work!!!!!!
Edit: It seems it was my fault, im downloading now! sorry and thanks again!!! i will give a try!!
New build available. Device and Vendor trees have been rebased on latest 10.3.23.0 EEA ROM.
There has been some optimisations done to the kernel, the phone feels a little bit snappier.
A minority of users reported issues with SMS messaging on earlier builds, I was personally affected by this issue. SMS messaging is now working for me, so if you had this problem it should now be fixed.
Opening the slider now opens the camera app. Closing the slider with the camera app open launches another instance of the camera app, so not quite working 100%. Closing the slider with the camera app closed does nothing.

**Edit: When rebasing the trees, safetynet hack wasn't applied properly. Will be fixed in next build**
Slider now directly opens the selfie camera, and safetynet hack is back. If you're using Google camera instead then the slider will open the main camera and you'll have to manually change to selfie cam.

Latest build with working VoLTE: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=4349826312261725069
Fantastic work

New build with working double tap to wake: https://sourceforge.net/projects/xi....0-20200225-UNOFFICIAL-andromeda.zip/download
I've moved to sourceforge because android file host is beyond slow. You can check out my other projects there: https://sourceforge.net/projects/xiaomi-andromeda/files/
I cannot seem to find HotSpot function anywhere on this rom (PixelE). Anyone else ?
Also trying to record a video will result in total corrupt video file:

Hello,
Thank you very much for the port. One question: is this ROM based on G40 or G60?

It does... However, for as far as I understood, the G40 doesn't have NFC (although GSMArena says it does), which is why, all the ROMs I've tried so far don't work for Tap to Pay (aka contactless payments). I'm using a G60. So...that's why I'm asking.
I mean yes, the ROM can be installed on both. But do contactless payments work, too? I guess that's kind of my question.

Gsm arean is sadly not true but if u correctly look into g40f logs you can see NFC crashing or blocked by vendor so it may be there but not usable as blocked by vendor aka Motorola so you cannot use any NFC feature on motog40f

About the NFC, would it make a difference if the base ROM was a G60 ROM instead, for let's say RETEU? Or G40 ROM for the same region.

hey, are the animations while closing and switching apps feeling laggy or choppy on your device?
nevermind, fixed it by disabling window blur.
Also, my mobile data doesnt seem to work and for those people who are facing the issue of incoming calls not showing up on the screen, download the google phone app from play store
banking apps like gpay work?
edit: gpay seems to work. but mobile data isn't working
