OneDrive backup&sync issue - Samsung Galaxy M51 Questions & Answers

Hello there, does anyone else have this problem? Is it working fine for you?
It looks like I can activate the OneDrive backup/sync option anywhere, it just doesn't show up. This sucks because I use Samsung Notes for work on my tablet and I need it synced with my phone. The same option to activate it on my tablet doesn't exist on my phone.

Samsung Notes is designed to by synced with Samsung Cloud - not Microsoft OneDrive

WP7 only syncs contacts, calendar, and notes over the internet (Exchange active sync or the Windows Phone Live service).
You will, however, be able to sync music and other media using the Zune client.

What WP7 device do you have?
as for SYNC I have other question:
If I have WM 6.5.3 device and content synced with MyPhone,
will I be able to just retrieve things from there to WP7?!

Good question. MyPhone uses a Windows Live logon right? If there is a MyPhone app on WP7 the you can probably log in with the the same account and sync.

I'm not sure. While "Windows Phone Live" is certainly the spiritual successor to MyPhone, I'm not sure if it's the technical successor. I think they might use different backend data storage systems. If they don't, it will definitely be kinda annoying.
Apart from backend data, there are some things that just can't be transferred - i.e. tasks and notes, simply because there are no tasks or notes in WP7. Also, most probably documents won't be transferred either because it seems that WP7 will only sync them via Sharepoint. Some other things such as photos should be fine because the WP7 Pictures application handles cloud photos natively.

I guess it's just OneNote files actually.
The Office Mobile 2010 apps are basic, of course, but functional. On the plus side, you can seamlessly sync OneNote notes with SkyDrive, and any Office documents with SharePoint. You cannot, however, sync Word docs, PowerPoint presentations, or Excel workbooks with SkyDrive, which seems like an odd miss.

I'm a corporate user but we don't use Sharepoint. Document handling isn't WP7's strong side for sure.

not in best english but you can understand the way
Do a backup with nokia's programm and then restore it with kies.
Hope to help (never tried it)
If you can export the N9 contacts to a .CSV which should be possible using the phone suite. Not sure though, since I have no experience with the N9. But if you can get the contacts as a .CSV file, then you can quite simply upload them Gmail Contacts with the account linked to your phone and they will automatically sync to your phone.

If contacts have special characters then this method is absolut fail (tried it two weeks ago with my wife's nokia. eg i have my contacts in Greek and the conversion is full of "?" )
The easiest and simplest way is to use google sync.
Just follow the step by step here. No additional app needed. Never used Meego but it has the contact sync built in.
And of course your Note 2 is linked to your google account so it would get the contacts automatically.
Hope that helped.
?
from nokia to sim-card
from sim-card to Note II.
Go to 1st line on my signature, post #4 'toolbox'
you will find a tool 'Transfer data' you can transfer with blutooth.
@ aventy
This will totally screw any contact with more than one number or with any attached additional data as email, address and so..
↖(^▽^)↗ Sent from Rego Galaxy Note ↖(^▽^)↗
Second the gmail method: did that at least with three phones and it worked.
As a bonus you get a secure backup of your contacts...
Transfer Nokia contacts to Google and vice versa
You can use the following application developed by me.
There is a help in it, how to use it.
When you export all contacts using this application, use Google to import them.
At the end just sync your gmail with Your phone.
The password for the archive is : 1234
Have you ever tried Phone Transfer?
It's capable to transfer various data between different phones.
You may google it.

I've been using a program called gSyncIt on my Windows PC to do this. Its not free but it does the job. Syncs contact lists as well.
play store says no results found, trying outlook. com
Thanks for the googlecalendarsync.rar link was lost without that!:

If you're talking about gSyncit, it's not an Android app. It runs on your PC containing the info you want synced. I believe the 'unregistered' version will sync your main Outlook calendar with your main Google calendar ... which is what Google Calendar Sync does (did), if I remember right.

If I'm not mistaken, I think the unregistered version of gSyncIt (linked above) will do what you are looking for. If you're willing to pay, it opens up a lot more features ... many of them in addition to calendaring functions.

Now that the Google Calendar Sync has stopped working I found a replacement Outlook4Gmail. Although it isn’t free it works great, actually better than Google's own product did.

[Q] How do take notes in s-note and view from PC in web browser?

How do I do this?
- Samsung sync seems to backup only? No web access
- Google drive sync seems to be doing nothing.
- Dropbox... the s-note is not letting me select sync with drop box.
It should be so simple! Am I missing something easy?

Are you on a custom rom or stock? If custom what rom/version? When you go to System Settings/Cloud what does it show is syncing and is Dropbox listed there?
SNote will let me share to Dropbox and Drive sync works fine between my tablet, phone, and PC. Something doesn't sound like it is setup properly or something has happened.
Need more info.

Thanks CCallahan. I'm fully stock, android 4.1.2. The cloud setting shows
Code:
Content sync (with Dropbox)
[email protected]
Storage usage 10 MB / 2.5 GB
Pictures Sync enabled
Videos Sync enabled
However when I go to S-Note -> Accounts, I only see "Samsung, Google Docs, and Evernote" listed. So my questions are:
1) How did you link S-note to drop box?
2) Once you do sync to drop box, how do you see the notes from your PC? It is the raw snb file? If so how is that useful to you? I'd really like to see the a PDF or JPG of the image so I can see it clearly.
Thanks much.

I don't think you can do that with sNotes snb natively, at-least not of now. (I have gone through the internals of s-notes file for other reasons) and it's unlikely one could make use of them easily, unless someone writes a viewer/editor for them.
My Best Bet would be to just use the share via (preferably) or export option on the s-note app to save as pdf. and find which works best for you.
Now if you need some editing. Then some PC/Android App with OCR could be quite useful.

Well, I want it to be automatic. Otherwise it's useless to me because I'll forget to sync.
Man, I can't believe I can't do something so simple: write a grocery list on my Note 8, see it instantly on my phone (S3) then cross off items while I'm in the store.
- S-note: doesn't work on S3 without touchwiz (I'm running CM 10.1)
- Papyrus: doesn't support sync yet. (their cloud backup thing will NOT do sync)
- Gnotes: doesn't allow you to write like a piece of paper. When you write it's large, then it gets placed onto the page.
- Evernote / Skitch: writing with the s-pen is pretty bad with skitch. It can't seem to keep up.
EDIT: I just found that "GNote" is different than "GNotes". Trying Gnote (not in play store) now.
Am I missing any other aps that get sync right?

If you don;t necessarily need output as a hand written text, you could just use handwriting recognition in note 8 (which works quite well once you get used to it) and use whatever app you prefer. that way.

It looks like GNote + DropSync will do what I want.
Now if only I could push after saving rather than trying to check every 5 mins. Hmmmm.

sync reminders

Hi guys, is there a way to sync the tasks (reminders) on the watch with the phone? Is there no app that I can do that with?
The ideal would be to be able to synchronize it with google tasks, but I think that would be even more complicated ...
You can use Todoist or also myNotesInGear to sync task.

Unfortunately I have searched those applications in the market and they are not ...
The App name is "TaskGear" for Todoist and "GearHub" for Android compagnon. And "My Notes In Gear" for watch and a compagnon phone app.
