Question Default File Manager? - OnePlus 9 Pro

I have 2 apps installed on my device that look essentially the same (slightly different UI, but same functionality): File Manager (yellow-orange default icon) and Files (blue/white default icon). Neither can be uninstalled or disabled. Does everyone else have both apps, or was one of them maybe just copied over from my old phone? If we're supposed to have both, is there a difference?

I can only make a comment on mine. Running the Chinese 9 Pro with Color OS. I only have one file manager. yellow with a white folder in the icon.

It's normal. Eu version, set up from zero with no data restored from backup and both of them are present. No need to say that they are both useless for me, because I use Solid Explorer. Can't disable them also.

Specifically, the ones on here posted by sopL87 (the 30 additional ported from the thunderbolt) and the ones by gadget from team bamf.
Stock 2.3.4 (installed the 5 RSSI update recently) sense 2.1
... I know that is probably a sin on these forums...
(not being rooted, that is)
you can put the .apk file on your sd card and use it to uninstall it that way, or go into system/app and find the skin and delete it.
skins, skins
Long holding them while in panel view gives me "ernt" of haptic feedback like something is supposed to happen, but nothing does. When I was on froyo hitting menu in the skin picker brought up list/panel view and delete with an x. Now all I get is list and panel...
I understand how to download & install the skins to sd card making sure the file extension is .apk or they won't install. I know you press on them in the file explorer (I use ES) to install them like any other app or .apk.
I looked in the phone's internal storage directory with es under system/app and found where the stock skins that come pre installed on the phone are, but where are the ones I have downloaded and installed stored?
I will probably have to find them there to delete them. Then again, I am not rooted and might not be able to delete them if they are in the phones internal memory and designated as a system file.
Deleting the file off the sd card does not un install the skin, it simply deletes the file off the sd card.
*sigh*...

No, I don't see them there either.
Yeah, I had to do a factory reset recently, like a month ago, and that is a sure fire way to clear them out.
It is not bothering me that bad to pull the trigger on a factory reset.
I just thought there might be another way (easier) to uninstall them than that.
How about clearing data on the skin picker under manage applications?
What would that do?
Probably won't clear them out, huh?

When using titanium backup, I would back up my setup now with the skins installed & then find the .apk files in the backup & delete them there.
Then when I restore the saved backup, they would be gone, right?
Or you go into TiBu, click apps at the top, find and select the skin, click uninstall

[Q] How to change apps before flashing rom

I am deeply sorry if this makes ppl angry, I am sure that there are several topics about this but I simply can't find them, ergo too much information no information..
What I want to do is to change some system apps before flashing the rom, I have tried by simply unzipping the rom, changing the apk and rezipping the file but it won't even flash.
I wanna flash mildwilds oxygen version but I want to change the launcher (lpp), music player (poweramp) and the gallery (quickpic), that's all..
thx for your understanding and help.
c
doesn't make me angry at all, i've not seen a dedicated guide for this sort of thing, only picked it up from others. i now do this all the time, particularly with mildwild oxygen.
i would recommend using 7zip
- make a copy of the rom.zip, so you have something to compare, and a 'stock' backup in case you go wrong
- double click on rom.zip (which opens it, do not extract it)
- delete/replace system apps
- close 7zip to update the rom.zip
couple of other notes:
- don't delete important system apks, like settings for instance
- you can delete lots of other stuff, like languages you won't use(system/tts/lang_pico) and sounds (system/media/audio), saves a lot of space.
- i have found not all apps work on the system partition, they simply force close (don't know why). winamp, quickpic don't work for me, but most other stuff does like go launcher, go sms pro, jorte calendar, elixir. takes a bit of trial and error. you can always move them back and forth with titanium or something like SystemCleanup.
- once you've finished editing your rom.zip, you must make sure that your total system size is less than your hboot system size (<145MB if on cm7r2), otherwise it won't boot. you can check this with 7zip as it should show how big your system will be when extracted.
good luck, i find it more fun editing a custom rom before flashing...

Thx a lot for your help!
I played with Ginger Villain 3.3 and I actually might be able to help you now:
Amongst other app I also moved apps like quickpic and poweramp and at first they gave me fc (like you mentioned) but then I updated quickpic via the market and restored (only the data) of poweramp with titanium and now they both work
Some general tips to whoever wants to try this as well:
If you are on the Mac you can download Winzip for Mac since there is no 7zip for Mac and it's Mac clones don't allow editing directly in the zip file.
If you want to extracting .apk files from your Android in order to add the apks on another rom you can use EStrongs File Manager (source)
- Open ES File Manager
- Click on the menu button of your device
- Click on "Manager"
- Click on "App Manager"
- Long press on app you want to extract
- Click on "backup"
- Extracted .apk files will be placed on the "backups" directory of your sd card

I realize this is an old thread, but it was the first result of my google search.
I've seen the force close problem and in my situation, the apk filenames had spaces in them. Once I removed the spaces, the apps worked fine. Just something to be mindful of in case you run into that problem.

Updated from 9 to Q Beta 3. Solid Explorer Issue

Updated last night from the latest Pie to Q Beta 3. I use Solid Explorer quite a bit. Upon opening it today, it appears to not view the file system. Google Files shows internal storage with no issue. I have cleared cache and data. Verified permissions on storage. The only thing it will display is a folder called Android inside is data, media, obb. Data and media show Solid Explorer items and the obb is the normal directories.
Has anyone had any issue similar to this?

Thank you! That worked for me too
Many apps are not working after updating to beta 3 update
Too many bugs, i guess thats the point of it being a beta?
I keep trying the beta, and after a couple of days going back to Pie. The beta is a bit laggy, occasional lockups, thirstier battery, and just overall not as smooth.
I have solid explorer as well. Every time i uninstall and re-install solid it works but after a few hours it breaks again.
Same issue with MiXplorer
I am still using ES, trying to make the switch to Solid or another file app. The ES just has too many features that I use, and I like the way it works, despite that no one else likes it and it was banned from the play store.

[Q] Ringtone and Sounds Display Names

Files saved to the Ringtones, Notifications, and Alarm folders show up in the lists on the phone for selection, but the displayed names include a very long file path and on some screens the actual names of the sounds are not visible.
Is there any way to hide these paths and just display the file name?
Thanks.
Could you just rename the files?
Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
The file names are already only one or two words each. Android is adding the paths when it displays the names of the sounds in the UI lists throughout the OS.
I don't have this problem when looking up alarm sounds with the stock clock application. I also don't have a problem using the stock file manager nor the sound picker (when choosing notification or ringtones from settings menu)
What application are you using for this? If it is a 3rd party application the developer needs to fix the app.
It's not a problem with any app, as it OS wide with any files that I manually added to the Ringtones, Notifications, and Alarms folders. Stock sounds that came already on the phone appear fine in all lists.
Thanks

I can't reproduce the issue on my end. I also don't get the tabbed screen you placed in your first post (what app are you using for that?).
What is the model phone you have? Are you running a custom launcher? What firmware version are you using? Have you tried a factory data reset?
Have you disabled, removed or flashed something other then the original firmware (i.e. custom rom, U1 firmware to replace U firmware, etc) that came with the phone?
The first screen shot is from the Google Clock app.
I am using an AT&T branded Note 10+ (SM-N975U). The launcher is the Microsoft Launcher. Firmware Version N975USQ2BTA6. I have not done a factory reset (and don't want to).
I have not flashed anything. It is stock, except for AT&T OTA updates.

Try using the stock launcher and clock app.. your wanting to see if the issue is present with stock apps.
Granted factory data resets are not fun, but it maybe necessary in case of file corruption.
Switching to the stock launcher and using the Samsung Clock app doesn't change anything. The second screenshot is from the list of sounds straight from the Notifications screen in the OS Settings interface.
I don't think any files are corrupted, as everything is there, it's just how the OGG files are displayed in the lists that the Android uses to present the sounds for selction.

Try converting the .ogg files to (and replacing the .ogg file afterwards with the) .mp3
Same. Anything I put in those folders on the phone via file explorer show up with the entire path, regardless of format.

Gcam settings stuck even after wipe...!

Dear all,
Already posted about pinkish fotos. No reply.
Then I found a version of gcam that was working fine. Yes! Loaded the xml file for my phone realme 6 pro. And boom, force close of the app when making foto.
Checked settings, cleared cache and app data. Deleted app and reinstalled. Not working anymore. Then changed around in the settings to see if it really wiped.
Wiped, reinstalled, and the settings I changed where still there.... Huh?
Also now I recall that after the pinkish thing started, all versions afterwards I installed also had the pinkish color on them.
How can I deep clean my settings, apparently it still saves something somewhere after loading an xml file.....
Please help. Cams are unusable likes this :-(
Tanx a million.
Have you verified that the folder where the XML files are kept was cleared out?
Also, is the device rooted? I've had similar issues in other apps and had to clear out all settings from their protected data directories (/data/user/0/xxxx, /data/user_de/0/xxx, etc) You can find the data directories using App Manager. Without root, those folders cannot be modified directly but I've heard it is possible to do an ADB backup, modify the backup, then restore. I have no experience with that route.
