Do you mean the setting in display - accidental touch protection?
This will only work when it's very dark ... like in a pocket.
Best to use a secure unlock method such as password, pin or biometric.

I also experience this issue. And actually an that specific scenario. Wvery time I put my phone in my pocket. It turns on and the first thing that press is the widgets in the lockscreen. I notice when my leg is really hot. I gotta say it's annoying

OnePlus 3 loses much energy when it's inside my pocket

Hey people,
my OnePlus 3 loses much energy (up to 3 percent in 5 Minutes) if it’s inside my pocket (!) - especially then if I move at the same time.
I have already disabled the gesture functions - however, the problem remains.
Actually the problem can only be reproduced in my pockets
- latest Stock-ROM
- no root or other deep system changes
Any ideas how to narrow down this issue?

Chris

dont use it as your pocket vibrator then...

Hahaa ;p
well, smart lock is not active in my phone...
Does it only happen when the screen / fingerprint scanner are against your body? Maybe they are detecting skin through your clothes and constantly trying to do something?

This. I think this is causing the issue. If you are slightly warm/damp/moist (someone reading hates that word ), it will try and scan your leg. My guess is perhaps it's not checking the ambient/proximity sensor to see if it's in the pocket or not.
I had this issue on the OnePlus 2 as well, although not as bad.

Thanks guys!
I'll try to wear the phone outward inside my pocket to see whether the problem still occurs.
Btw, i did some tests via "GSam Battery Monitor" and figured out the main-process which is producing the problem:
It's the "kernel". Does the kernel controls one of the mentioned sensors (ambient/proximity sensor) ?

Just be more wary of the screen being knocked/bumped!
Yeah that handles hardware as far as I know (might also be under other processes if they use it too though)
Alright, thanks for your quick feedback.
I guess i will reset my phone now...
I'm pretty sure it's the fingerprint sensor. Really sad to see that OP3 has this issue too, this started happening to me on OP2 too after the marshmallow update. They made the fingerprint scanner much more sensitive, greatly improving it's speed but this started happening. The workaround is to keep the phone in your pocket screen facing outwards...
I have the same problem. It should be fixable via system update to not activate the fingerprint sensor while the proximity sensor detects something.
Or am i missing something here?
Same issue here
Same issue. It's kind sad that OP can't handle this to prevent waking up using proximity sensor like it happens with duoble tap. I hope that they will release an update soon.
Is there anything in settings called "pocket mode"?? a friend has a THL phone that has pocket mode which stops the phone from doing anything when it detects its in a pocket
Nope, I've searched whole settings and there no option like 'pocket mode'.
same issue and the screen is showing the message "too many attempts. try again later" i can't use my smartwatch because the phone make a call or sent a message it self in my pocket.
I've created an e-mail to support with issue describe. Will update thread while getting reply.
Yes this is a bad bug which OP need to fix asap.
So what's the solution to the problem, finally?

We simply keep the phone face up in our pockets? That seems like a quick fix we shouldn't have to live with...

You would think that priority would be given to the proximity sensor. If triggered it would disable the finger print input.

I don't usually have an issue but I found that not sliding my finger onto the sensor makes it work much more reliably. I just try and tap centered on the sensor and it works almost every time.

I usually tap ..because of the case ..there is no place to slide ...like 99% it won't recognize..it was working before .. recently this has started

I had the same issue, someone in the forum suggested enroll the same finger multiple times for more data, the sensor is pretty small and easily stops working due to sweat and oil, keep the back of your phone pristine at all times, that might help a little, you will run into less issues this way.
Although I gave in and started using Pin authorization recently.

This happens in my case too....at every 15-20min. i have to clean the fingerprint area with a microfiber cloth and then it works only for 2-3 times.....this is really annoying...i have tried multiple times registering my finger...but doesn't seems to work.
Tried factory reset but still the problem persists.

Question Apps opening automatically when phone in pocket

Most of the times when I unlock my phone after pulling it out of my pocket some apps are opened automatically. I mostly see battery setting, Camera, weather and messages apps. Does this means my phone is hacked or is there any other possibility also?
If it is hacked, is the factory reset only option to fix it or there is any other option also?
It is most likely an issue with pocket mode. Pocket mode on F3 is just terrible. It could have happend that you touched the fp slightly while putting the phone in your pocket, it unlocked and accidental touches were made. It happens to me quite often and it is annoying. Try putting the phone display facing away from your leg in your pocket and see if that helps.
I had the same problem, when you put in your pocket, it unlocks when your finger touch the sensor... In the Settings for Security/FingerPrint unlock, select the fingerprint sensor unlock to "push" instead of "touch".
Thanks for the reply guys. Looks like @Magister54 trick worked. I havent seen that issue in past 2 days.

It is not available. And for some reason, there is apparently no ROM with this feature except MIUI.

Ah ok. Thanks
On crdroid there is an option that only allows the finger print sensor to work when the screen is on.
Does anyone have a good solution to this? I'm getting a bit tired of pocketcalling people
The feature in MIUI where you have to push the fingerprint sensor instead of touch sound like something that could solve the problem. Or perhaps the crdroid option HewettBR mention.
Is there any other ROM with a solution?
I'm running ArrowOS now but guess I have to change to an other ROM...

Question P6 bypass lock screen when trusted with smart lock?

Unless I'm missing the point of smart lock. Pressing the unlock button and/or using your fingerprint takes the same amount of time and effort.
Am I missing the obvious? Smartlock seems useless

When I'm home, I just push the button with my right thumb and swipe up with my left index finger, and I'm in.
it's instantaneous
Easy Peasy

I used for some time smartlock (because Pixel was paired with a smartband), so if it's connected, it was set to unlock in this case without password or fingerprint.
Otherwise, if we use fingerprint it take half second to unlock, so it's almost the same, but each user can decide what is more comfortable for him.

This is also pointless Because, we should not complain if now the fingerprint has reached a good level of speed, while, when the Pixel 6 was released many people complained because of slowness or reliability.

So getting back to my main point, you agree now that smart lock is useless?
I just want to make sure I'm not missing something here. I don't see the point in a lock screen if the phone is......Wait for if..... Already unlocked

You may need to use gloves or other conditions where you cannot unlock the phone, then smart-lock might be useful. But as you say, in normal condition takes almost the same time. Then what is the point? You ask to remove a function that might be useful to others? Just don't use it if you don't like.

Except I don't use fingerprint unlock. I swipe a pattern.
So faster for me in that instance

Never said to remove anything but a lock screen on an unlocked phone.
That's not a reasonable request?

I'm sure there is, I have no idea how
On a side note, Google changing the screen to wake with a single tap instead of double tap is equally annoying and leads to the screen accidentally turning on all the damn time. Including in your pocket.
This only started on Android 12. Talk about fixing something that wasn't broken
Iv never used smart lock myself

Ty so much for this.. But from his description
"You phone will never be locked"
I see how this is keeping the device unlocked (for a certain period of time) but how does the device auto lock when leaving a trusted site?
For me I have several trustes sites already with profiles made in Tasker.
My default (outside/not at home) would be where I would want my phone locked

I have the same problem. Sometimes when I unlock the phone and try to tap on something, it triggers the accidental touch protection. It's quite annoying. I think it's a software issue.
I turn off the accidental touch thingy all together. voila no more issue.

Thought I was the only one having this issue. Every now and then when I unlock the phone and try to open an app or something, the accidental touch protection just appears on screen and I need to swipe multiple times to remove it. This is so annoying that I just wanna turn it off altogether.
