Question Green tint on screen - Xiaomi Poco F3 / Xiaomi Mi 11X / Redmi K40

Hi.
I recently bought a F3, and I'm trying find if the green tint is a common issue or I have bad luck.
To check it:
-select in color scheme->advanced->enhanced.
-turn the brightness very low, and turn on dark mode.
-go to the phone app, or one with a solid gray color.

Not for me, sorry

have the same, this oled screen is not good

Half of users have the same issue. I think you already duplicated the thread on xda.
On Telegram we are talking about this. I got this issue too. This is going to be fixed at least partially in future update (see telegram for F3 and there look for media to see image upload history of all users).

This CAN'T be fixed via updates because is a hardware issue, they are gonna restrinct or change the color profile and thats all.

Got the same problem on my device. However, i noticed a big improvement right after a reboot. So maybe they could improve it a bit through updates...
Still the panel is by far worse than the one of my Mi11.

TheKelvin273Do you have F3 ? You seem like you don't want to believe it can be fixed. Latest update on the matter from some user on telegram ( redmi means redmi k40 aka poco f3).
Even if it's hardware the software operates on it....
Even if they downclocked the SP870 a bit for normal use to achieve this goal I wouldn't mind.
If they won't fix it at all in few months I will consider selling (not replacing) this phone, cause I will sell it at more price I aquired it.

Maybe a stupid question but how can I get to the telegram channel?

edge bleeding at low brightness
Hello, tonight i was configuring my youtube app and i noticed very bad colors at the edge of the display, when the background is grey. I was in a complete dark room, the problem is most noticable when brightness is about 15%. And no, its not only...

See my reply there. To my eye it's not really green but the camera disagrees...

Great thanks!

not on my phone

For a 300e phone I dont care. They can just change gray to black and problem is gone and looks better to.Xs max had a same issue but was worse than poco.Black looks better, save power and doesn't have this problem.

Gray to black totally ? do you know what ure saying ?

Mine is ok too...no green tint

Green tint is a hardware issue.

Sadly I can also see this issue on my less than a week old F3. Thankfully I've located this thread, showed it to the seller and I am now asking for a replacement, hopefully they'll cooperate. The issue was also confirmed by the service center here in the Philippines.

It's common issue and happens almost to every OLED-y screen. See my post https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/screen-shows-a-greenish-tint.4251845/post-84814357
tl;dr - keep the screen bright enough so each pixel is pumped adequate electricity by the phone.

Just as an update: Today i tried HentaiOS and i have to say that using the same settings as MIUI (low brighness 1%-10%, dark mode , 120 HZ , reading mode on/off, and chrome grey background) there is no green tint anymore. On MIUI i had some visible but on HentaiOS screen color is the same on all surface. So it is something regarding the software calibration and not hardware issue.Hope they will fix it.

I upgraded from Galaxy Note 8 to Poco F3. All I have to say about the screen is the F3's screen is beyond awful. The only problem is not that the screen is green, unfortunately it is behind in many aspects.

I took it to customer care yesterday and it was funny that the guy there showed me his note 3 which also have same flickering and they said that it's normal with amoled due to voltage variation at low brightness levels. So I left customer care without replacing display:victory:
Actually I don't want them to teardown my new phone so I thought of changing display after some time if it get more worse

am using latest 4.3 update I think it's problem with Indian INU firmware will be solved by 4.4 soon guess
I did a factory reset yesterday and kept brigtness above half till now I didnt have ny flickering.
I found this on web
There seems to be a
problem where the phone has problems
deciding if the software or hardware(CPU
vs. GPU) is what should be drawing the
screen… So this indecision causes it to
switch back and forth, redraw, etc….
Over at XDA there are lots of post relating
to this problem. Below is a temporary
solution to the problem
Here are the instructions!!
Temp Fix: (until they find/fix the problem)
1. Go to settings > about phone
2. Click “build number” 6 times fast
3. You’ll see “you’re now a developer” as
a notification at the bottom.
4. Go back to settings, you’ll now see
developer options above ‘about phone’.
5. Go in developer options, and click
“disable hardware overlays” under the
drawing section
This will fix the flickering!! The problem is
with android 4.2.x, the OS gets confused
and can’t decide if the CPU or the GPU
should be drawing the screen, so it flickers
do to it switching between the CPU and
GPU real fast…
Hope this helps anyone out there
experiencing this problem, and spread the
word to anyone else you know to make it
known! Loads of people are re flashing,
returning to stock, even returning their
phones because of this bug! So spread the
word to prevent others from making this
mistake.

Too bright after Nougat update?

One of the more pleasant surprises I got when I bought this phone was how dark the screen could get for night tile viewing. With Night Mode and the lowest brightness, I could browse my phone first thing in the morning without dying.
Now, on Nougat, Night Mode just adds a yellowish tint - probably reducing blue light or whatever - and brightness doesn't seem to go as low now. Kinda blinded this morning...
Is there some way of fixing this?
1.
2.
3.
And many more..
I probably should've specified I wasn't looking for a separate app for this purpose. I know that much!
Just wondering if I can get the built in function to be sensible again.

Screen gets annoyingly whiter on direct sunlight or bright light

Hi! I'm having an issue, and although I have been searching, can't seem to find a solution or someone reporting this...
My screen is getting "whiter" (in the sense of the whites in the representation of the light curves, I think it can also be defined as a bump in the "gamma") when it is under direct sunlight or bright light, and as a result colours just look unfaithful and cheap, just plain awful, and I'm very sensitive to this. Don't get me wrong: I'm not talking about brightness: just screen colours representation, my auto brightness is off. When I first bought the phone I just didn't have this issue, I believe it started once I upgraded to Android Pie, maybe the developers thought this augments the readability of the screen, but I think it's just odd that this crap is mandatory and can't be disabled at all. Anyone noting this issue? WHY IS DIS? any workaround, any way of disabling it? Hope someone has an answer to at least one of these questions! Thanks!

That's from Xiaomi, they have it in MIUI and in the Android one, it's just to make it look better under the Sun (you can not disable it normally, you need adb)

Were you rooted before the update and if so did you keep it after the update?
Nope, i wasn't rooted
Got it via the updater app..
Green tint totally fixed
but image retention persist
Definitely not getting it in the US right now, either in system updates or the Oxygen updater
Doesnt mention display improvement
I noticed image retention a few days ago on the battery bar at the top. Ghosting can happen. I removed all icons from bar at the top but it took 24 hours for the battery ghosting to disappear. 24 hours.
Due to burn in risk I removed these icons for good.
With the new update put icons back and I can confirm the ghosting still remains. Don't want to test long term as I'm worried about burn In
got it through updater. green tint is massively improved. maybe even solved (cannot comment as I can't go into a fully dark room right now), but there is clearly some shade difference moving the brightness lower (likely when PWM changes its rate). I do notice a bit of a red effect around some elements but it is too early to tell if it is anything.
also DC Dimming black crush is improved massively, I am super happy about that

Now will be checking every few hours for AA.
The Bluetooth connectivity is so messed up with this update that the phone is not usable with a Bluetooth headset (and its the only way how I take calls). I dont get this: I hoped that they improved the WiFi 5Ghz problem and video stutter issue ( I didnt checked the first one) with the update, but they messed up one of the essential functions of the phone. The problem is: the phone is 1000 Euro and after every update it has at least one MAJOR ISSUE. I couldnt use it normally for a single day for a 1000 Euro phone. And I wanted to give it a chance. This is getting rediculous.
I think they fixed the green tint with the red tint?. Anyway much better than before. I want to try for a day the input lag of the touchscreen and the tint if are gone

Is my phone defective or is this present in every mi11x cause this is a software bug ?
Clear the data of Battery and performance app. That should do the trick. But it will return when you reboot. I do that in mine a few days and it somehow fixed it self. Now I don't do clear data trick. I'm on 120fps all the way with no color/brightness shift.

I'm not sure, but try disabling "Smoothen transitions" and "Sunlight mode" in Settings > Display > Brightness level, as well as disabling "Adaptive colors" in Color Scheme section.
I remember doing some of this fixed the problem.
Please share your results with us.
No bro it doesn't help it's still the same.
Is this problem fixed in miui 13 ?
Or is this a hw issue which means my unit is defective ?
I have tested in my phone, I can see color changes in the lapse between 60-120hz transition if the color scheme is saturated and adaptive colors is enabled. You need to try with a hard reset, I know is annoying, but we decide to get a Mibuggi phone.
It's happens to me when on arrowos 12 but setting the minimum refresh rate to 120hz fixes it for me, would prefer to have the minimum set the 60hz but this is my only work around

Well I have just spent the past half hour or so trying to reproduce your issue. With 'show refresh rate' enabled in dev options I see no change at all with whatever settings I try. I cannot see or reproduce you issue with my poco f3. However, I am running a custom rom - AICP 16.1.....
I'm not sure if this is the sole reason I don't have your problem, and I'm not saying you don't have a hardware problem. But, why not try a custom rom to see if you can reproduce th issue. I see you have been around XDA for a while so should know your way around flashing a custom rom to check... Might be easier and quicker than sending your phone off for possible repair. Also, one of the first things the repair center may well say (I'm assuming) is to try and factory reset you phone after backing up.
SO, my point is, if you are that worried its a hardware issue, and assuming the service center will just ask you to factory first of all, why not backup as much as you can and try a custom rom... see if it persists.
You can always make a note of what rom version you are running now and download it just in case. Then flash the custom rom and if the problem is still there and you need to send your phone off to the service center, just reflash the original rom locking the bootloader during flash. The service center will never know it has been flashed etc
