Thinking about buying a Zenfone 2, worth it?

Guys I wanna know how are the custom roms and how the phone works. I have a S3 with an Exynos CPU and devs have a hardtime to make AOSP roms to my phone. Does this happens on Zenphone 2?
Ditto Im on N7100, Im seeing x86 as potential to exynos, except if the source is leaked to developer someday developer will stopped updating or facing problems when Asus stop updating their flagship arround 2016
Im considering it with Redmi Note 2 Prime... it has Octacore but lack of NFC and only 2G ram
I might still happy with my N7100 (the also canceled Lollipop yeah,,, rite done with samsung, no need waste money for flagship anymore or buy Iphone if you want flagship) untill Prime arrives in my country or ZE551ML fix the battery issue, then Ill upgrade to one of them
above 1.8Ghz processor eats battery like a pro without good software
Btw this is general section I dunno if this question can be here or not
I'm currently running a 5.1.1 AOSP ROM, with the developer looking at 6.0. The ROM runs flawlessly; this phone really shines with lightweight Android on it.

Great
I have played around with all the custom roms on here - they all work great but when news of ASUS working on 6.0 came out I went back to stock so I would be ready for it. Just do yourself a favor and get it from ASUS. Too many people on here have found out the hard way they overpayed for a CN model with WW firmware flashed on it. Get the right model and you will love it for a long time

I got the ze551ml - 4gb/64gb version. The problem people have been having is going to ebay or amazon or some dinky shop hoping to save a few bucks and wind up with a chinese phone with the global software flashed on it. The chinese model has lte bands that are not used in places like the United States and Canada. Just get it from asus on their website. They will ensure you get the right phone for your area.

If I buy will be this one: Asus Zenfone 2 32GB Preto (ZE551ML-6A208WW)
I just went to ASUS website and did not see that model. I am in the United States so it might not be meant for me

So ZE551ML is good?
yup, it's good. the 32gb/4 gb versión is the Chinese version, you would have to flash the ww rom to get gapps. also I think it doesn't have some of the lte bands used on the states. go for the 64/4, 16/4 or 16/2 that sell on amazon at 299,229 and 199 respectively, they are all the 551 ML

Be aware of te limitations though (talking about ZE551ML/ZE550ML). Sim2 is only 2G and has no data support. Check the LTE band support of the version you get. CN, TW and WW have different LTE support.
All other ZenFone 2 variants that are not x86 (any other than ZE551ML/ZE550ML) may have poor third party dev support, and probably less attention from ASUS too going forward, as the x86 version is the flagship.
So guys, should I buy it or not? I don't wanna make another mistake like I did with the S3 on which I didn't have custom roms of AOSP with quality
Considering between Zenfone 2 and Moto G 2015 tho...
I switched from the S5 and couldn't be happier. Best phone switch I have ever done. If you do go with the Zenfone 2 I would recommend the 4gig version, it is well worth it
While I haven't used any CM or AOSP based ROM, some people say it's good for everyday use. I like the stock ROM, I only use a custom kernel (project T) and have the phone rooted and with TWRP. There are also some stock based ROMs, mostly to remove bloat.
The only advantage of getting the Moto G would be better battery life, but in everything else the ZF2 leaves it in the dust.

Xiaomi redmi note3 is a better choice now, about 200$

Info before getting the Zf5

Hi,
It seems ZF5Z is announced around summer, can you confirm and if so shall i wait this model instead of ZF5?
i wanted the Nokia7+ but no unlock, then checked for MI MIx2S or Mi7 but it s expensive, there is a promo in my country for Zf5 (france).
So i dont know if the wait till Zf5Z is worth compare to buying now Zf5.
I come from Honor 5x and i like custom roms so as i have red, it is a device with big potential for this (treble, Snapdragon, source release,..).
Do you confirm ?
Also dont know the difference between :
zenfone-5-ze620kl-1a009eu
and
zenfone-5-ze620kl-1h010eu
EDIT:
Ok this seems to be the color... Never seen a model Nb Changing for color, hope no other diffs between those models
thanks
The ZF5Z just has better cpu/gpu/ram, the rest is identical to the ZF5. Will the bigger price be worth it ? Your call
And what you think between zenfone 5 and redmi note 5 pro ?
whyred got already a bit dev
and as said i do like custom ROM (was kind of flashaolic)
so i wonder if zf5 will have some custom rom in futur as shakalaca said somewhere no build of custom rom (it was on website about twrp unofficial).

Is the S9+ snapdragon version still worth getting?

Hey guys, I'm coming from a Xiaomi phone which has a great custom rom scene. I've been searching about the S9+, and it seems it won't receive any updates from Samsung anymore. From what I saw on the Snapdragon Custom Roms subforum here, I've found this version's support to be quite lacking.
What are you guys thoughts on this phone in 2020? Should I get it or should I get another phone? Any suggestions?
No. Unless it's an unlocked bootloader varient then maybe. You'd be better off on a recent phone if you're looking for further update support.

I got a 9650 unlocked bootloader variant. Imo it is. We just got los 17.1 and havoc rom 10. Rooted magisk stock. All run awesome. Imo the scene will start picking up since los just got released. But as for sammy updates yea where pretty much done. But I love mine to death bought mine used just a couple months ago. But again you want the g9650 model. Not a g9650u u1 or w those are the American locked bootloaders. These are China and latin america models we got. And from years of complaints and study. Snapdragon unlocked bootloader is much better than exynos on heat and battery life. So best of both worlds

Global rom on Chinese Find X2

Hello, I see it's a bit dead here but I hope it becomes active soon enough.
Anyway, was wondering if anyone has had any luck with the global rom version on your chinese devices?
Im looking for the same answer as well. Im deliberating between the OP8 Pro and the standard X2 but at the moment Im swaying to the OP8 based on availability of roms and basics like cases!
Id also be interested to learn if by flashing the global rom on a chinese unit if it would lose dual sim support??
I have both the oneplus 8 Pro and the Oppo find x2 pro Chinese variants.
Flash to the UK firmware on the oneplus and it works perfectly. The oppo is another story, can't flash the global firmware yet and the Chinese one is a bit of a nightmare.
I think I'm keeping the oneplus but the X2 Pro does have a brilliant camera.

Question I will buy the Chinese version and I want to keep it op11

I want to buy the Chinese version and wants to keep the ROM as it is . What is the difference from global or what is the extra benefits from global?? .
I have realme x7 pro since pre than 2 years . Some problems with contacts application and ther is no option to switch between 4g for 5g like that .. if I keep the Chinese version what will I miss.?!
The main reason for Chinese version is that the call recording function and also for sure the price ..
Also any alternatives??
There is plenty of information already here in other topics?
