Question 1080p 60fps Ultra wide? - Xiaomi Poco F3 / Xiaomi Mi 11X / Redmi K40

why can't F3 record in 1080p 60 with ultra wide lens? seems downgrade for me while my X3 Nfc can smoothly, any idea?

Dunno, can hardly beleive that the hardware is not capable. Trying to force you into buying a more expensive phone? Can gcam do it?

Pixel 2 XL Video Settings

I have read on multiple reviews and sources that I can record at 1080p at 120 fps and at 720p at 240 fps. However, when I go into the setting for video recording and select either 1080p or 720p I only have the options to select 30 or 60 fps.
Only my slow motion option has the option for 120 or 240 fps.
Is anyone else having this issue or are these reviews and sources all somehow mistaken? The fps at which video recording can utilize is much more critical than the resolution it records at. For instance, I would much rather record at 1080p at 120 fps than at 4k at 30 fps.
It's not an issue. Either what you read was wrong or you misunderstood what was written.
1080p 30/60 normal video recording and 1080 120fps and 720p 240fps slow motion is what the Pixel 2s can do.

Maybe the many many post and reviews I have read we're just not very clear on what they meant. But that's pretty much what I was expecting. Was having a hard time wondering how I could miss such an important setting. Hopey come out with some software that can utilize these fps settings that this phone is obviously capable of doing (since it currently does 120 fps at 1080p but only in slow motion).

You do realize that you can record in slow mo and not actually edit the slow mo in, right? Just make the slow mo bracket super small, throw it at the very front of video or rear. Trim it out. Volla! 120fps 1080.
Another option is to use Filmic Pro. You can manually set resolution and fps.

I tried this but the quality of video, seems to have something to do with the light exposure, suffers when in slow motion mode.
I don't want to pay 15$ for a camera app. I just want Google to release some software to really take advantage of the current hardware.
The camera is already so good and still has potential to be even better.
I love the phone though it's by far the most consistanly responsive Android I have ever had.

That's natural for higher frame rates. The more frames, the more light that is needed.
There is no way around that except for manually adjusting exposure and ISO. Which can be done in Filmic.
What you seek is available to you.
What I seek is an update to the Google software, not a third party application that costs more money, because it's not sure a big deal that I want to spend more. I am patient and can wait. Also it's not that big of deal to me, I was simply inquiring if anyone knew a way to set the normal video mode to a higher frame rate than 60 fps.

Video camera problem

I looked at several reviews of a50 and a70. All video examples has a problem. Autofocus can not find the optimal setting, so the video is jerky! Most bloggers did not pay attention to this moment! But this is not normal for a $ 485 phone. What do you think about it? Are there owners of the device? Maybe an update has already been released that fixes the situation? Example in youtube 6-iwSS_hX0Q in 5:37 (sorry, i cant permissions for publish links)

Yes,seems to be issues with the cameras,no EIS as far as I know, the 32mp lens uses software to account for only really being 8mp. Im not a camera guy so don't know that much about it but most of what I've seen and read indicate the cameras aren't that good

Thanks fo reply! I means video camera only. Photo camera, in my opinion, is not bad. But the video, which is approaching, then moving away, is a real problem. I'm not ready to give $ 500 for the quality of the video, as if my hands were shaking. But I expect that the problem can be solved in one of the updates.
This is a stabilisation issue I think, not a focus one. Ideally the camera software could do some work to stabilising 1080p video using the spare/latent area from the 4K chip, but it would still require some heavy processing which perhaps the chipset is not up to?

May be, I incorrectly described the problem when I said about shaking hands. The frame in the video is approaching, then moving away. Then approaching again. That is looks as the zoom is not fixed. Poor stabilization may be an indirect cause of this behavior. That is, shaking may interfere with the correct setting of autofocus. But I am convinced that the actual reason is poor autofocus.
It's really simple.
4K video = no EIS
1080p video = EIS
As you can see in this review https://youtu.be/rwrDrG23gRA?t=344 (5:43) stabilization is just fine.

That's what I was hoping (see my last post). Good to see someone showing 1080 recording while walking, which is sufficient for most users I suspect. To get stabilisation in 4K you either need a much larger raw chip resolution, or optical stabilisation (probably not on mid-range devices).
Andre
Here's another A70 1080p rear camera video, he tests many scenarios. Looks OK to me for this price range https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ju52xFjYz4
If you need to shoot a lot of high quality videos then get S10 which is twice the price. Mid range phones will never have camera as good as high end flagships, that's just impossible.

I'm not sure still. My example in start post shows 3 shooting modes:
1. 4k
2. 1080p
3. 1080p Wide angle lens
3rd shooting mode gives good quality only. The second mode is also a little jerky
p.s. I think, my xiaomi mi5 probably did not have that problem. But i just can not check it now. So I am unpleasantly surprised by this effect
Wider angle shooting always makes shots look steadier, regardless of any other technology. The more you zoom an image in, the more any camera shake is exaggerated.

960/240 fps slow motion missing?

Hi,
Is there a reason for the slow-motion 240 and 960 fps modes not included in this phone?
My device only showing 1080P/120 and 720p/120 modes.
Can anybody explain why?
Regards.
Sub
Those modes are for mi 10t which has sony sensor. Mi 10t pro has samsung sensor that doesn't have that speeds but has 108mp resolution. Bad thing is they never said anywhere about this...
I didn't know that, thank you for explanation.
It's a shame that this phone doesn't have at least 240 mode...

They both use a 108mp Samsung sensor but the Mi 10T pro uses an HMX version that only supports 120. What you would need is the Samsung 108mp HM1/2 sensor but that only supports 240fps anyway.

Some corrections needed here:
MI 10T (regular) uses Sony's sensor, IMX682. I think it supports 480fps max at 1080p (if someone could correct me).
Mi 10T Pro uses Samsung HMX sensor, which can go max to 148fps at 1080p.
Samsungs HM1 used in top level S20 Ultra and Note 20 Ultra can go 240fps at 1080p.
What about HM2 i'm not sure. There is no actual released phone yet (probably Redmi Note Pro 9 5G will be). -> Correction : HM2 can do 360fps at 1080p or 240fps at 4K. Quite impressive i think.

It seems I did a mistake with 10Tpro :/ No tele, no 720p slowmo, no moon Mode..
Well, you do use phone for more than just photos and moon mode, right? And Google camera can do impressive astrophoto which can trash moon mode everyday...
Now, i do believe that this will be mitigated in the future and that we'll see some upgrades in camera in the future
Slow motion video on 10T pro is the worst experience I have ever had in my happy time with my xiaomi. When you select slow motion mode. 10T pro only filmed a normal short clip. And then the video slows down by algorithm by the original Gallery app. This means when you share this clip with someone else. They will receive an original video at a normal rate.. !!

You have to save slowed version of video through the gallery app. It's option is right at the top. Then you can share the converted video.
Because yes usually its 120fps, so it plays at that frame rate. If you want slowed version, you have to do it manualy and decide which segments of frame will be normal and which is slowed down.

Then how on earth Samsung s20 ultra is capable of 960fps
The 108mp photos are crap,no tele,no slow motion...
But the main camera is amazing! excellent quality astrophotography!
Moon mode would be nice but how many times you gonna photo moon?

It doesn't. It does 480 hardware and then interpolates to 960 but there are artifacts. I gave up samsung ultra models, that's so disappointing.

Question Switch lens during filming

One thing I miss with my current Mi 10 Ultra is the posibility to jump between lenses during filming. For example: If I film with the normal lens and an object comes closer to me I could zoom out and the phone switched to the ultravide lens.
Mi 10 Ultra does not support this ( to my suprise, I come from a P30 pro and there it was seamless).
Does anyone know if OnePlus 9 Pro supports this?
Yea it does , but only 1080p 30fps supports ultra wide, main and telephoto, or else it is just ultra wide and main for all other modes apart from 4k 120fps which is only for the main

Is there any work to provide 60 fps support for the ultrawide camera? some xda god is working on it?

unfortunately that crap sensor from 2015 does not even support 1080p 60fps, I don't understand why they use that crap instead of going for newer sensor that can do that, the regular S22 supports it.
U think that the problem is an hardware limitation or there is a way to solve it via software or by a samsung update firmware?

hardware ofc, why else would they limit it to 30 fps?
It is not sure, my old note 20 ultra come with an 30fps ultrawide recording camera, after some time, a fjrmware update bringh me th 60 fps ultrawide recording option. I hope samsung can do the same think with my fold 4

that ultra wide is the same introduced with S20, bigger, better and newer, same one as S22, it does support 60fps but Flip and Fold keeps getting the ancient CRAP sensor.
I think that it will be enabled via firm/software update. We saw that in the N20 series and, the UW câmera can record 4K30 so it is able to deal with the data of 2K60 (roughly the same bandwidth)... Maybe the problem is lack of time to sync and adjust frame pacing...

I don't know how much clearer I can be, this is the same UW camera used in first Flip, Flip/Fold3 and they haven't got any update to 60fps as the camera sensor don't support it, otherwise it should have been there from day one, S22 does support it because of better sensor.

According AndroidCentral`s review, It's a newer sensor as published here: https://www.androidcentral.com/phones/heres-how-much-better-the-galaxy-z-fold-4-cameras-are
"The Ultra-wide sensor and cover camera sensors are the same resolutions but are newer sensors than what's in the Fold 3."
If you have another source, a maybe a teardown, we can ask for a correction on AndroidCentral article...
According SamMobile (https://www.sammobile.com/news/sams...as-a-mixed-bag-of-new-and-old-camera-sensors/) the Ultrawide sensor is a Sony IMX258 and the datasheet indicates 1080p60 support (https://www.electronicspecifier.com/attachment/view/59aeb13e5a8ec97c2c8b4570/Sony IMX258 Datasheet)
And also SamMobile thinks there is a chance of Fold 4 receives a uppdate to shoot UW at 60Fps: https://www.sammobile.com/news/sams...ort-4k-60-fps-ultra-wide-video-recording-yet/

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 review
The Galaxy Z Fold4 comes with a very similar rear camera setup to the one found on the Galaxy S22 and S22+. The selfie situation, meanwhile, is the same...
m.gsmarena.com
For the ultrawide, our Fold reports the Sony IMX 258 - a fairly ancient imager with a 1/3.06" optical format and 1.12µm pixels. Its native resolution is 13MP, but Samsung lists it at 12MP, and that's the size of images it outputs. While the sensor itself has AF capability, the camera as a package doesn't support it. The lens covers a 123-degree field of view, as per Samsung's specs, and has an f/2.2 aperture. That's the Fold3's contribution to the rear setup, while the S22 uses a nicer 1/2.55" sensor with 1.4µm pixels.

I don't know but it's still a crap sensor that is being used, I could record 60fps with S20, S21, S21 Ultra and S22 with the UW camera, so no way the Fold is getting any software update that enables it.
