General The reasons for the battery drain issue ( what i think ) - Xiaomi Poco F3 / Xiaomi Mi 11X / Redmi K40

After a week of digging and testing here is what i discovered :
1- The cpu frequency only gose as low as 700mhz and most of the time at about 1300mhz normally for the SD870 it should go as low as 300mhz when not in use or when watching videos.
2- No adaptive refresh rate especially on 120 the screen will stay at 120 even on always on display !!! they said it can go as low as 30hz depending on the content but yeah ... we will have to wait for updates and see.
3- The phone dont go into deep sleep mode as much as it should especially overnight and its the main reason for the overnight battery drain not sure why its not going.
all those issues can be fixed with a software update so lets hope

The global rom is still at 12.0.3

I am on global 12.0.5 Stable :S. Anyway, the deep sleep not working happens sometimes, don't know why.

Same for me. 0% drain in 8 hours, airplane mode though. But before it was almost 30 % even with airplane mode on.

12.0.5 Global fixed the issues for me as well.

I don't know why some users received miui 12.0.5 and others not.
Something relationed with region?
The first thing that I did when received my phone, just checked for miui update and than show miui 12.0.5 Global for download.
For now I using in this configuration:
- no sim card
- wifi 5ghz
- 60 hz display
- always on display off
With AccuBattery app monitoring the phone:
- 0,4% drain for hour with screen off
- 96% of time in deep sleep
- 7% drain for hour with screen on
So far so good.
Tomorrow I'll install my sim card and running whatsapp.
I'll check again if something will change

Some users are mixing up Global rom with EEA (European) rom.
Global is still on 12.0.3.0 and EEA Europe is on 12.0.5.0.
You cannot cross flash the EEA and Global roms unless you have unlocked bootloader.

[Q] Custom ROMs and battery life

I've been using Resurrection Remix and Lineage on my Helium since I got it and found the battery life to be pretty bad, 1.5 days max so I have to charge every night.
Would switching to the standard Miui increase my battery life at all?
I saw one reviewer was getting 3+ days with Miui.

I have been using RR since last year and no battery problems. Power consumption between 0.1-0.4% per hour depending on exact configuration and time of day.
Consumption per hour is between 4-9% depending on usage.
You should check your configuration.
You are not alone in this. I have a lot of optimizations in background on my Mi Max RR (3G/4G only on demand, WiFi off when screen is off, no background push notifications or syncing, only when screen is on, lots of alarms and wakelocks blocked). My best is 2,5 - 3 days of phone uptime with up to 8h SoT.
Back when I was using MIUI 8 and 6.0 Android I was able to get insane battery results (3 days of phone uptime and 10-12 SoT without locking wakelocks, alarms or disabling sync/push notifications).
Those are my battery results back from MIUI (1st cycle so not much done with settings yet): https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68041966&postcount=6
I was never able to repeat this with any custom ROM.

Neither you can with current MiUI. With specific CPU governor settings and target restrictions you can easily climb to 10+ h SOT. With complete setup (governor, HPM scheduler & hotplug) it will go up to 12~13h of SOT. If you go extreme & not much useful for anything other than a light use it can go up to 16~17 h. All well documented on a thread hire.

Only a CPU governor part is editable by Kernel Auditor and similar rest is known to get problematic & overwritten (thanks to the SE Linux protection over the sys tunable's introduced in N). You can find settings in a power/performance thread.

Fast Battery Drain on mi 10t pro

i just bought this phone a week ago and immediately updated to MIUI 12.0.7.0 global stable version
but i noticed the fast battery drain on my phone. anyone else having this kind or problem or is it just me? and what fixes/workarounds can you recommend with this issue? thanks
I'm getting 2 days but I've turned most of my app notifications off and have only allowed apps to download background data and location when an app is being used.

Check which app or service drains your battery - if it's some media manager or similar, your phone is trying to read some bad image on internal memory, most likely some whatsapp or Viber image... I had that problem but not anymore, since i deleted all old whatsapp and Viber images...
I had a drain with wifi, but it was fixed after reset one day

Settings, battery & performance, battery usage stats - application or service that used battery the most is at the top logically.
As for deleting wa/viber photos, use some file manager, find their folders and inside youll find folders with images. delete them and it's done... But first check whats draining your battery, it might be that you're just playing games a lot, or watching videos with brightness to the max

Have you found a solution? And can someone tell me is my battery life good or not? Here's the screenshot and i only pubgm for 25minutes 90fps
I bought this phone about 10 months ago and my battery now barely lasts until the afternoon when the battery saver is on. Before I got this phone, I had the Pocophone F1 for two and a half years and it's battery lasted much longer even then. I turned off all background working apps and everything, but it's getting worse. What can I do?

Question [MIUI12][Update][Global] Any issues brought by the update for Global MIUI V12.0.4.0.RKHEUXM

Hi,
I have received the update notification for the global update : V12.0.2.0.RKHEUXM that fixes the screen dimming issue and optimizes the battery at night during standby (that's what some people said on Reddit) and allow a higher stability of the system on the phone.
The changelog is not much detailed, this looks like a hotfix kinda.
However, I am afraid to do this update and have a phone that would be less functional than before hence anyone who has done this update with their POCO F3, could tell me whether they noticed new bugs/issues appear?
Edit : The update changelog was wrongly translated to V12.0.2 in my language but the real update was V12.0.4.
Edit 2: The MIUI Optimization slider is no longer present after this update for my Poco F3, read this for more info.
Just did the update. Seems okay so far. Will update if I have any issues
DId the update twice ! EU ROM...12.04...
Battery lost over night 28% !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RAndom shutdowns still... ill sent it back soon..
worst phone i ever had since years software wise..... what a shame for poco!!!!!!!!!
Amazon.de shows more and more negative feedback! 3.8 now is the ranking... and mine is comming soon

Wait I think, the update you're talking about isn't V12.0.2.0.RKHEUXM on MIUI Global, you're talking about another update here EU ROM 12.04 ? (There is no EU ROM that I know of, only Global ROMs from Xiaomi). I have seen no one else report any issue with V12.0.2.0.RKHEUXM so far, so I was a bit surprised you said so, can you confirm which update exactly is giving you these issues (for future people who will read this thread so that they don't get confused) ?
Strange. I still have not experienced anything out of the ordinary with this phone other than the rather annoying third party gestures are broken thing. Everything working as it should. Can't speak on battery life yet as I just got the phone yesterday and I charge overnight so I have no idea what my standby drain is yet
This i ment .perhaps i was wrong? This one isnt good at all..

I actually don't know because the update that was given to me looks like this, they may be very similar but I don't know why they are different in like V12.0.2 vs v12.0.4 maybe they are the same somehow maybe not. I made the mistake too since my link showed the wrong update so it was my bad as well.
the update u post, was the last one here in my country... we went up from 12.02 to 12.04..
there was a small list with fixes.. one should be the over night drain... but its definatly there

This probably means Xiaomi mixed up the wrong numbers (maybe I'm just wrong and there was two upgrades) for the new update when translating it in my language, I'm going to do it right now and report back on what my version number becomes (it is 12.02 RKHEUXM at the moment in my phone's settings before updating). However, I have never noticed the issue of random reboots you've mentioned.
I was right Xiaomi wrongly translated the update changelog in my language, I am now on V12.04 RKHEUXM. I'll be testing it a bit to see if there is any new issue I'll report it here, but it looks like this update is somewhat safe, most people haven't been affected by weird issues after having done this update. It is highly probable that Xiaomi pushed this update as a hotfix only (as they needed to do this fast else everyone will return their brand new Poco F3) for the screen dimming and maybe some battery standby fix at night. Hence, why issues that were affecting some Poco F3 on V12.02 are still showing up on this new version such as random reboots some people are facing.
I'd like to warn everybody that during the update the MIUI from 12.02 to 12.04, the optimization slider in the dev settings has disappeared for me.
It seems that it affects a lot of other phones under MIUI 12 since a while, maybe Xiaomi doesn't want us to disable those optimization however it is necessary for some apps such as YouTube Vanced.
More info here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...eming-turn-on-miui-optimization-gone.4254555/
A quick workaround is told here but needs root...
If you're rooted, paste these commands into terminal:
su
setprop persist.sys.miui_optimization false
Then Optimization settings is back in the menu.
Click to collapse
You can check that your phone has been modified after the update by running :
Code:
adb shell
getprop persist.sys.miui_optimization
if the result is true you won't see anymore the MIUI 12 optimization slider in the dev settings and I know of no workaround to make it appear back again, if anyone has time and can contact the Xiaomi support and ask them how to disable MIUI 12 optimization now. That would be helpful.
Edit : I was wrong true only means that MIUI 12 optimisation are actually on, I posted a workaround that works in the next reply.
Here is a quick fix I found online :
Full details here.

I'm curious about the random reboots at night, how does it happen? When you don't use the phone it reboots on its own? Could you explain a bit more what happens? When being charged ? Or not?

Question Bad Batery life and How to fix?

I got my OnePlus 9 Pro a week ago and I've been using the charger that was included in the box, But after using my phone for 30 Minutes the phone has used up 20% of the battery. I've Checked in Battery optimization Settings and all my apps are on "Intelligent Control". My Phone is also rooted with Magisk and I've installed AdAway with the root option. Thanks in advance!

Battery Usage:
Installed Magisk Modules
I set all of my apps to "Optimize" except apps I need immediate notifications for (leave those on "Intelligent Control") and my third party alarm app ("Don't Optimize"). Also, social media apps are battery hogs. I keep them frozen in Ice Box except when I'm using them. Also consider flashing Omega kernel. It's basically just stock kernel debloated, which seems to allow the phone to run cooler and have longer battery life.
I just looked at your screenshots again though... 10 hours since last charge, over 2 hours of screen-on time, most of which was spent on YouTube and TikTok, and you're still at 80%? Sounds like decent battery life to me.

What exactly is the problem here?
Your screenshot shows 10h since last charge, a very small charge (upwards tick on the chart), 2h of SoT and you're at 80%??
Of the 20% you've lost, you've spent 10% on YouTube, 8% on tiktok.
Maybe I'm missing something, but what are you expecting?
It's your installed apps/modules Im getting atleast 8 Hours of SOT.

The only possible way for this, AFAIK, is to have the max frequency of your phone set to 90Hz, like OP7T or so, but yours is 9Pro with 120Hz, so I don't really understand how.

Question Best MIUI based ROM for battery life?

Hey guys,
The number 1 thing I care the most about my poco f3 is battery life and support of features such as Dolby Atmos, Gestures, MEMC etc.
So considering that, what is the best MIUI based ROM out of all of the MIUI based ROMs?
(Stock MIUI, XiaomiEU, MIUIMix, EliteRom, OneOS, MiGlobe, Hellas MIUI, MIUIVN)
i want to know too
Debloated Stock?!
Whats your problem with stock? Even of you don't want to debloat just turn on battery saving then 120HZ display.
This is debloated stock. Today usage And from this 6hrs around 1hr is LTE+ usage and brightness of higher than 60% (I don't go lower than 50 even in night)

Can you share a list of your debloated apps?

Why is it better than MiuiVN or Xiaomi.eu if you can explain?
thanks
I have now had the EU as well as VN on it. For me, One has the best battery consumption.
Explain? The question of the creator was: Best MIUI based ROM for battery life?
For me it is OneOs
The consumption at night, for example, is always very gladly taken by me, since everything is always set the same and the use also. So the value reflects very well the consumption. With One 1%. EU min 2-4% and VN also

yeah you are right
should've added "besides battery life" in there, also what about SOT on oneos, how much did you get on it?
thanks again
Take every claim of "best battery life on ABC ROM" with a grain of salt.
Everyone has different usage. Different apps. Different enabled features.
I use Xiaomi.eu Custom ROM weekly. I'm happy. I use Always-On-Display (in permanent mode), Bluetooth always enabled for my Fitness-Band. Google Fit, Maps and Play Services Background Location enabled.
