RedMagic Bluetooth audio improvements - Nubia Red Magic 5G / 5S Questions & Answers

AptX HD is of course a godsend, but my car doesn't support it. I remember the time when mods like V4A did magic to crap hardware... Has anyone been able to get it to work? Or atmos?
I tried the magisk module, with audio modification library and all, froze the native audio effects process, selinux, etc. - not processing.
I did find a DD port that works but it's weak. Any advice on bluetooth mods?

Audio Mod OP3 - Where is it?

Can anyone help me out.
Can't find the audio mod for OxygenOS.
Viper or Dolby atmos. One that's good for headphones.
Cheers
Try divine beats by the royal seeker.
I use it.
Or use Neutron player or black player EX apps they have good audio processing...!
Divine beats and Viper4Android (ViPER4Android_FX_v2401_A4.x-A6.x.apk) does not work on OnePlus 3 yet. V4A drivers can be installed but will not initialize (OxygenOS v3.2.4)
My Collective Dolby Atmos ports works for OP3. I think the only one that doesn't is the Axon 7 Atmos port.
Just because they aren't in this forum doesn't mean they don't work. Check the Software Development forums.
As for installing V4A and driver, the above poster is wrong. It works. Unfortunately OnePlus released a bugged Vendor audio_effects.conf file so installing V4A won't work out of the box. You need to go to System/etc/audio_effects.conf and copy it to Vendor/etc/audio_effects.conf and replace. When you do this you can install simple stuff like Dolby Atmos or V4A without having to install Arise to get good audio.

Hey, are you talking **** right now?
I have tried it with V4A, replaced the audio_effect.conf as you mentioned, but the issue is the same. There is no app which is capable of utilizing V4A as MusicFX plugin on OP3 currently (OxygenOS v3.2.6), actually the stock MusixFX shows up if you are calling MusixFX from PowerAmp or SoundWire (or other musicfx compatible app). Even tried compatible mode in V4A (with restart), got the same result. Normally V4A would replace native MusicFX, this is clearly not the case. So yeah, I can install it, but cannot use it. No step forward was made.
I have used the latest available V4A version.
Can you elaborate how did you actually made it?
Please provide exact versions and clear steps, also sources for downloads, so anyone could reproduce what you have acheived.

I've already said how to do it. Sources? Well I develop for Android and reverse engineer Android. I also happen to own this phone as my daily driver and also an HTC9/HTC10 among other devices.
Try with another player. Saying "it doesn't work" tells nobody anything that's useful. Give logs and info, not just vague "doesn't work". To my knowledge, Poweramp doesn't play well with other DSPs. Try another app for testing.
I've had the OP3 since it came out. Firstly, you need to completely disable MusicFX and make sure the "on" isn't checked. Secondly, V4A works with the method I had suggested and so does LeMax Atmos, Axon 7 Atmos does not work on OOS.
OP3 is my daily driver. You either take my expert advice or don't, but I hardly can call that"talking ****".

[AUDIOPHILE] aptX Bluetooth - Flashable ZIP! - for Lineage based ROM's

EDIT JUNE 2018: This thread is no longer needed. If you're on the latest versions of AOSP/LOS then all you need is Magisk to install APTx and have it working.
Original thread continues below.
================================
This post will help you add aptX Bluetooth capability to your Pixel XL.
NOTE: This mod is only for ROM's using the Qualcomm Bluetooth stack, such as 14.1+ Cyanogen/Lineage OS.
Does not work in ROM's using the AOSP Bluetooth stack, such as Stock Pixel, Dirty Unicorns/Pure Nexus.
Apt-X and Apt-X HD are officially supported in Lineage OS based ROM's
https://www.xda-developers.com/late...port-for-aptx-and-aptxhd-caf-rebase-and-more/
For the moment, this thread only deals with non-HD aptX.
aptX HD is still rarely supported by headphones & other devices.
I'll research and add appropriate files for HD soon.

KNOWN COMPATIBLE ROMs:
CRDroid
Hexa-Project
Lineage OS
OctOS
Resurrection Remix
Tesla
Tipsy

DIRECTIONS TO INSTALL MOD:
Just go to this post and flash the zip in TWRP.
Please make sure to give @Namelesswonder many thanks for creating the zip for us!!!

VERIFY MOD IS WORKING
To verify the mod is working, you should only need your ears and a HIGH QUALITY audio file.
Otherwise, you can use search your logcat for the string "aptx" to verify it's being enabled.
Such as in the output you see below.
Code:

Have you heard of aptX Bluetooth?
It lets your Bluetooth connection deliver cleaner, fuller sounding audio to aptX supported devices (headphones, car stereo, etc).
Your Pandora may not sound any better, but your FLAC and other high end MP3 type files should sound cleaner, slightly more sparkly highs and better defined lows.
Think of it as the difference between listening to FM radio vs. a CD.
While it's not that drastic a difference, a capable ear should be able to enjoy what aptX delivers.
Same goes for HD voice calls if you have access to that. There may be more clarity noticed on these types of calls when using an aptX supported audio chain.
The aptX mod should not interfere with Viper or any other Android audio mod.
It's simply a codec, such as A2DP using SBC. But instead of SBC, you'll be using aptX.
Please give a big thanks to @dh.harald for coming up with this particular solution.

Unlikely. I think they use AOSP Bluetooth stack.
You can try though, it won't break anything to put the files in the same location.
But I'm fairly sure it'll be a waste of time.
Someone with a Nexus 6 said it didn't work on their pure nexus ROM.

I have it in my stock ROM, rooted with a custom kernel. I haven't tested it out yet. But I feel like these files do what I usually do manually in system/etc/a2dp_audio_policy_configuration.xml set the values to "96000,192000" and Bluetooth dramatically increases in depth and clarity almost the same as setting your computer audio to 24bit 192000 it's just a driver. I don't know why Google doesn't make this code part of Android it really makes a difference!
It should look like this:

My mod or the mod above?
My mod will work with stock rooted, and a custom kernel. Use ES file explorer and a text editor to modify th .XML file and restart. You will notice the difference with good audio. Also WETA audio adds a significant audio gain with the addition of Sony and HTC audio libraries. You don't have to use Dolby Atmos or viper4android that ar included to get these gains. I'm one for not to processed audio viper tends to make the sound signature sound to digital but some of its settings are good for certain situations. That's the link for the WETA mod.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120694195
I'm pretty sure I tried aptX mod on stock and it didn't work. You're welcome to try though, it won't break anything.
Sachi, you might want to make a separate thread for your mod and leave it out of this thread.
aptX will increase bandwidth but I'm sure your mod has its merits too.
I did this mod on my Pixel xl rooted with elementalx kernel 1.03 and stock ROM. Worked fine but for some reason when ever the phone went to sleep it would not wake back up.

I cannot think of a single reason why that would happen.
I'll try to duplicate this afternoon.
Thanks bro I really loved this mod! Makes my BT headphones Sound so crispy. I know it's the mod causing it because after reverting back it stopped dong it, but will keep testing. Oh I forgot to mention I do have viper audio mod and the dolby Atmos on my Pixel XL. Could that be that issue?

I flashed back to stock "V" 7.1.1 image which is the latest.
Then rooted with SuperSU 2.79 SR2.
Then installed ElementalX 1.03.
Then installed the .so aptX files and connected to my aptX headphones.
I am only connecting via A2DP, as expected. aptX does not engage/work at all.
I did verify this via my headphones blue LED which flashes a certain times to indicate A2DP vs. aptX as well as reviewed my catlog which did not indicate aptX was in use.
I also verified no issues with phone going into or waking up from deep sleep.

It doesn't work on stock or other ROM's with AOSP bluetooth stack.
It DOES work on ROM's with Qualcomm Bluetooth stack, though so far there is only one to test & verify this with.
Here is Lineage OS ROM and it works on this ROM:

create own DAC profiles / or control via Viper4android

Is there a way to control the DAC via viper 4android, so that it amplifies the viper effects or the sound?
From what I've done by installing V4A as a magisk module, DAC works as usual and V4A on top, certainly, sounds better, but i thinks still has little bit quiet sound...
I still have the feeling that if I let run in parallel with viper that the viper sound sometimes a little bit steer? and I think that the profiles of the DAC do not quite harmonize with viper? So I thought, if there is a possibility, that you can turn the dac on and off, but tonal only steers over viper
I think the sound does not sound as clean and clear as on my z2. even without dac. actually the LG would have to sound much better than my z2. I'm a little bit mystified. I've already disabled the LG Equalizer, but has not brought any improvement with Viper4android
lol you guys are trying to fix something that isn't broken. in fact, you're trying to fix the most outstanding feature of this phone!
At least it would be nice if you could switch off the standart equalizer. because the profile is Normal, it does not mean at the same time that the equalizer is off. then I suspect that if I have viper installed, there are problems with the volume. that the lg and viper hinder each other and that's why such a bad sound arises, even if the dac is off
Do you unterstand at all how viper vs build-in DAC works?
The only way, afaik, for bypass the default EQ and filters is using USB audio player Pro, since pass bitperfect data to the DAC skipping any post process.
To be honest I don't know why you want to use viper, you only add a lot of junk to the sound, don't get me wrong but If you're not happy with the sound maybe you should buy better headphones.
is there anyone who can port Viper4android for the G7? I found out that some of the original sound files have to be changed or replaced. if it should sound neat and clean.
can someone tell me what the file is responsible for in the directory vendor / radio?
because I have now deleted this file and still the LGEqualizer apk and have the pure sound of tidal. and it sounds a lot better. I just wanted to know what the file in the radio folder is good for.

You don't know what you're talking about. I installed Magisk Modules Viper4Android, Ainur Sauron, Audio Compatibility Patch, and Audio Modification Library to my P2XL. There is a tremendous difference in the sound quality, especially using headphones.
The sound is not only louder, but cleaner and with greater dynamic range. This is what equalizers like V4A do. Ainur Sauron uses modified sound libraries to further improve the sound, and the Audio Modification Library ensures Pandora, Spotify, and other similar apps use V4A and Ainur Sauron settings when outputting audio. The Compatibility Patch ensures they all work together.
I don't have Dolby Atmos on my P2XL, but with this setup I don't need it.
@oraned: Check the Magisk forum, though the downloads window in Magisk should have links for what you're looking for.
Note: I'm not going to comment the usage of sound processing for watching movies, because the entertainment concept is different from listening to music. Now, concerning music:
IMHO, music should be enjoyed with as little processing as possible, because when it was composed and recorded by the author he (she) wanted it to sound that way. The less bells&whistles added, the better.
Pixel 2XL has a decent native sound quality via the bundled usb-c adapter, and can also stream aptX (and aptXHD) via bluetooth.
It's much more important to have a good pair of headphones, avoiding putting lipstick on a pig.
That said, and because even good headphones have different tuning, you may want to choose a proper equalizer to slightly adjust the frequency bands and gain.
And let us not forget: when you want hi-fi quality music, you will want to use an hi-fi gadget on a quiet place
The phone will always be a "good enough" option, compared to it.
But it's so damn "good enough", that we tend to forget that

This statement would make sense if the artist had control over such things. They don't. It's a proven fact that the sound engineer is one who makes those decisions, and almost always at the behest of the record label, not the artist.
No artist worth their salt would want their music mastered in such a way that all sounds were equal in volume. Yet you repeatedly find music mastered this way. Equalization is essential to make such music sound tolerable, but admittedly it can only do so much.
Do a Google search for "Loudness War" and see just how record labels killed music.

I could, but XDA has an entire forum devoted to Magisk. Very easy to find with the search bar at the top of the page at upper right, or even with a Google search.
As to how to root this device, there is an entire subforum devoted to tutorials for the P2XL. Read those tutorials in the Guides, News & Discussion subforum first before trying anything.

@oraned: It's self-explanatory. The modules will tell you what they need to work and your job is to install them. One of those things is an audio compatibility patch that allows multiple sound modules to work together.

This Magisk module unlocks the full functionality of TFA9874 ic by patching all the audio codec files in your system and forcing the Earpice to act as secondary speaker during media playback__________
Note: It' earpice that acting as secondary spk don't expect flagship kind of stereo experence cause the size of earpice is too small compared to botom lo spk
This Magisk Module is still in Beta-stage and your feedback is important!
+++++ GIVE YOUR FEEDBACK BY REPLAYING TO THIS THREAD +++++
Flash it via Magisk Manager-----Reboot-------Done !!
PRECAUTIONS:
Don't use aml (audio modification libary) patch as it's not compatable_____
If you are using Dolby Atmos module then use Dolby Atmos Mod that doesn't require AML to work_____
warning : use at your own risk i am not responsible for any damage or loss cause to you
No audio output at all on AOSP Evolution X 6.7 (has DolbyAtmos embedded in)
