Question What custom DPI are you guys using - Xiaomi Poco F3 / Xiaomi Mi 11X / Redmi K40

I'm on the default 392 DPI but to me the UI elements seem a bit larger. But I'm aware that setting this DPI to a weird value might result in bootloop(correct me if I'm wrong). So I'd like to know what DPI you guys are using.

got the phone few hours ago 8gb version. coming from oneplus 3. i had 500 dpi on oneplus 3 so i set the same on poco f3.

I had a Oneplus 3T, it was an awesome device. Then got the Poco F1 and now hopped on to Mi 11x.
For my usage I have found 420 to be the sweet spot as DPI.

yes im using 420 too, been using that dpi since i had the redmi note 7, poco x3 nfc

using 440 over here, right about there with the icon and word size

How do you set dpi? I have a problem with some widgets - they're cut off or too small, like there are too many rows on the homescreen. Maybe dpi change could help?

mine is 514 o.o i like how everything is so small..

Enable developer options then go to Settings - Additional settings - Drawing sub section - smallest width

I think default would be good for me, not going to know until I get the device next week.
I don't like smaller text, I use 125% DPI scaling on a 17" 1080p laptop.

Change DPI issue

Hi,
I have rooted and loaded OxygenOS 3.2.2 stock full rom.
If I add the density line in build.prop, it doesn't change the DPI.
Please see attached screenshot from edited build.prop.
If I change DPI using the toolkit for oneplus 3 found here at Xda, the DPI is changed.
But I get some graphical issues. See attached images.
In one image, as you can see, the editors choice icon gets very big.
In one, the pictures in price spy all are zoomed in by default (and can't be zoomed out.
1) Why can't I change DPI just by editing build.prop?
2) How can I fix the graphical issues after I've changed DPI (using toolkit)? (I'm guessing that I will have the same issue if succeeding to change DPI using build.prop?)

Sorry. But it doesn't work. None of the options in the app.
The only thing working is to change DPI with Oneplus 3 Toolkit. But then I get the graphical issues.

Change DPI issue.
What are you guys using an app for? just open up Terminal Emulator and run:
su
wm density 420
(You can change the value to whatever, higher makes the DPI less)

Sure. But it should be able to change in build.prop file.
But the issue is the graphic examples above. Please see them.

I have not noticed any issues, is it possible some values are just not quite right for the actual screen?
right now my DPI is set to 400 and my display looks great.

I've tried 400 also.
Please check an app in play store that is editors choice, and submit a screenshot.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will consider it if my current value becomes an issue for me. This forum is a great wealth of knowledge and I thank everyone here.

That's really strange. Guess I have to try your way of changing dpi.
Sent from Oneplus 3
Try it and see, I am not trying to troll you at all honestly, let me know how it works out!
I have had my DPI at 400 via this method for about two weeks now and noticed no aberrations of any kind.
BTW, I am on stock OOS with all the updates, rooted, TWRP, Xposed framework installed.
Tried your way now. Both 420 and 400. Still the same issue. So strange.
Is it possible that something got ****ed up when trying this, the toolkit, le dpi changer, and textdroid for changing dpi?
Sent from Oneplus 3
If You have used this Toolkit:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/development/toolkit-oneplus-3-toolkit-unlock-t3398799
then you used this method:
adb shell wm density "value"
try this:
adb shell wm size reset
adb shell wm density reset
or just in the toolkit choose reset dpi in the DPI changing menu
then reboot and use le dpi changer with the build.prop option
I'm using this for some time and no glitches
Always reboot after changing the build.prop file

I'm using Resurrection custom rom and under display setting can change LCD density 320,360,400,440,480,520,560 and default is 480dpi. A message prompt "Some apps may not function at non-standard DPI" so I assume the standard value should be 480dpi.
I'm on stock with latest update, TWRP, and root. I use 3C Toolbox to edit build.prop adding the line ro.sf.lcd_density and a value of 401. I would try one app at a time to change the DPI with.

P20 lite Emotion UI 9.1 review

So finally, Huawei has released the new EMUI 9.1 for the P20 lite! In this thread I will be doing a full review of this update. This will include: performance, battery life, UI, bugs & other things.
1) Performance
Personally, I feel like the performance is terrible now. The phone boots up faster and gaming works smoother: PUBG Mobile used to run at like 15-20fps with some lag spikes here and there, now it runs at 30+fps without random lag spikes! These are the settings used: graphics = balanced, style = realistic. These are the highest settings we can use on the P20 lite, but since this works so well they might bump it up to HD settings. This is due to the new GPU Turbo update. There was one before, but this one makes bigger changes. I do feel like the RAM usage is higher, though. The system itself is actually very laggy and the camera is unresponsive.
Update: After updating to 9.1.0.200, the lag has finally been fixed!
2) Battery Life
The battery life is better too. On EMUI 8.0 I had ~8 hours of SoT, which has increased to ~10 hours! That means 2 hours better battery life, which is 25% more.
3) User Interface
The UI has also got an overhaul. The notification panel is now white instead of black, we got a new task manager, a new font on some places, rounded squared icons, new icons in settings, a new recovery & a new boot screen (only difference is the 'E' in the Huawei logo). I personally really like this, but this is ofcourse up to your personal preference. What I am missing here is a dark theme. Not all dark themes will work like they should, but I'll get back on it on the bugs section.
4) Bugs
So there's one small bug: the themes. Normally if you apply a theme your icons from the notification bar should change too. This isn't the case anymore. It's not the fault of the 9.1 update (it's been here since the November security patch), but Huawei told some people that it should be fixed in 9, which it clearly isn't. Here's an example: on this theme, before the November patch, the statusbar icons would be the same as on stock Android, which isn't the case anymore. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=emui.en.com.gpix2&hl=en_US it's not a big issue, but it can be annoying for some people (including me). Also the font colors don't change properly, this can be annoying for dark themes, because then you get black fonts on a black background, which you can barely read. Normally the fonts will change to a color depending on the theme.
5) Other things
One of the other changes is in the notch. Now, most apps actually stretch into the notch, instead of it having black bars next to it. Unfortunately, there's no option to change this, but some people including me actually prefer it like this.
If you have any questions about EMUI 9.1, just comment under this thread. Also I wanna say that you can find a lot of info about EMUI 9.1 on this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20-lite/how-to/android-pie-update-status-huawei-t3836567
Edit 05-06-2019: There actually is a way to hide the notch for specific apps if you don't want it shown in fullscreen apps: Go to settings > display > show more options > notch > custom and hide notch for the apps you wanna hide it from. Sorry if the names are different, I translated it from my language to English.
about 5): it annoyed me seeing that problem especially in YouTube when the notch suddenly is in the way of 18:9 videos. One fix for it is if you go into the settings for the notch and black out the space around it. I don't think it looks as pretty but the video won't be intruded so it's a fix for me atleast

Hello, have you problem with GPS on EMUI 9?

Sporadic lower refresh rate (60?) than configured 144hz

I've been having this issue with my Mi 10T Pro. Not sure if it has to do with using Lawnchair as my default launcher. I've been having this issue on 12.0.10 Global and with the xiaomi.eu rom 12.0.7.
So I've configured my screen to refresh at 144hz. Sometimes when I unlock my device it's certainly not at 144hz, it feels more like 60hz. When I turn the screen off and then unlock my device again it's fine. It happens about 1 in 5-10 device unlocks.
Anyone else having this issue?

couldn't reproduce the problem, I'm using MIUI launcher on Xiaomi.eu 12.0.7
it could be the luncher like you suggested
try under developer options > Power Monitor > frame rate monitor tools and check if it's dropping or locking on 60hz

Yes I do.
I have this issue as well. Changing back to stock launcher helped, but I still get it sometimes using Chrome.
I (strangely) did not encounter this issue when I was on the xiaomi.eu 12.0.10 ROM for the Xiaomi Mi 10T (non-pro). Of course this lead to camera issues, but just something I noticed. Hopefully it will be fixed in the next release for our 10t Pro
I'm using stock EEA ROM with the default launcher and I observed it yesterday for the first time. I had this same problem with my old OnePlus 5 with Android 8 and 9 but it got solved when I upgraded to Android 10 and it never occurred again. I guess it's something sporadic but annoying that can be solved through software. Let's hope it gets solved in a future update.

Question Tap screen resolution in settings has gone?

I just bought the pixel 6 pro, did the latest November security update, I wanted to check what the screen resolution is, so I went to settings /Display,and in Display there should be an option called screen resolution, where you can choose what resolution you want etc.Screen resolution is not showing on the display settings?

No, that option was never there before as it's only QHD
Pretty sure this setting has been implemented in the Kirisakura kernel.
