[q] {pro} security features your phone does not support

Hello guys and gals,
I 've had a MK16i for almost a year, stock 2.3.4 GB and finally , after a lot of thinking and researching here and there, I unlocked boot loader and flashed a CM 7.2 ROM yesterday.
At first I was stunned , it felt like I was in control with new widgets , notifications, everything was great. I noticed my physical keys were a bit messed, but I choose the UK option in device settings i , and the superuser fixed it.
Now I stumbled into this error This server requires security features your phone does not support when I try to register my google account. Without exchange/corporate , I can´t open the goggle play app, nor the Gmail app, and my calendar is also out of sync.
Domain\username : [email protected]
password : 123456
server: m.google.com
SSL conection (checked)
Acept all SSL (unchecked)
Specs:
GB :2.3.7
mod: cyanogenMod- 7.2.0-iyokan
If anyone could give me some pointers to solving this , or working around it ... I would prefer to have google play, but I guess i can download APK as well. Whatsapp and messenger are working fine, but the gmail & google play apps exit right after launch and the calander won´t show my events.
Thank you all in advance.
EDIT : I was able to configure my Gmail account on the standard email client with IMAP ... but only email , not as exchange ... so Play store and calendar are still not working since I have no account registred on my phone ....

[Q] Cant connect to exchange email account!

Hi everyone!
No matter how many times I try I can't get my g3 to connect to my work exchange email account.
I'm 100% sure all the info is correct. Works fine on my galaxy s4.
Anyone else having this issue? Might be a deal breaker for me if I can't get this working.

I just got a G3 today and had the same issue trying to setup my corporate email account. It looks like the email client is broken.
I downloaded "MailWise" from the play store and was up and running in a few minutes. I don't like having to use an additional email client, but at least it works.
Turns out my problem was related to my being an admin account on the exchange server. Had to enable permissions inheritance ok my account. Works now.

Oddly enough I tried it again this morning and it worked for me. I don't why I kept failing yesterday.
Exchange issues...
Hi all,
I got a very similar issue: I got my frame repaired (LG G3 case broke at microphone hole) with some potential upgrade to the latest software. Since then I can't access my exchange server anymore through the "built-in" email program! Access is still easy through all of my other devices (S3, Note 10.1)...
Only solution I found: The "Nine" app works very nicely (14 days free, US$9.99 therafter) and easily connects to the exachange server and leads to synchronization of emails, contacs, calendar, notes and tasks! So the problem lies within the Android 4.4.2 email program!
Let's cross fingers that Google is addressing / solving that issue soon!
Best regards, UP

Have you manually updated to the latest Google exchange apk? It's available in this post regarding the new Gmail 5.0 and Exchange 5.0 apks. http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/1...-support-material-design-landed-apk-download/
Keep in mind that there is an ever newer version of the Gmail 5.0 apk that has been released, so double check your version number before updating that specific apk. But the exchange apk is the latest that has been released.
These updates have allowed me to connect to my work's Exchange server through gmail. So not only does the exchange connection seem to be working, the gmail app has been updated to allow these types of accounts to be added. It's nice to have one gmail interface where I can access all my gmail and exchange (and Imap, pop, etc) email accounts.

Hi,
I updated the email and the exchange APK files - all POP/IMAP access works fine but the exchange server is not reachable (it is, however, reachable via the browser app) - so I am still locked into the NINE app that works pretty nicely (I wonder why Google is not able to provide a similarly easy and functional app...).

Accounts and sync settings

Can anyone help me find a working accounts and sync apk for the fire phone. I have not been so lucky as to yet stumble upon a version that works or I am still missing something that I need to make it work.

Are you talking about the FireOS accounts and sync or Android accounts?

Android. The Fire OS version of it has no options and does not seem to actually work all the time. Not getting my google contacts is an issue,

Did add your accounts in the FireOS settings "Manage email accounts". Once you add your account go into it there and turn on "sync contacts". I have my Amazon(yahoo email), Gmail, and hotmail accounts added all contact info shows up under my contacts.

Is there a way to disable fireos email and still get contacts for the phone?

On my second fire phone (I couldn't pass up this hardware that was effectively $20) I am trying to run as close to AOSP as possible and still keep the fire os. Before you tell me to run cm11 or slimkat, I've been running those on my main phone since ggow arrived with the goodies. It's just for the learning and fun of it that I'm taking this on. The best pictures are taken with the fire phone camera (I've tried most of them on cm11 and slimkat) and I like the camera hardware button. Also, people who have never seen this phone like the launcher's 3D effects.
The problem is that:
1. The phone app needs contacts which seems to need the fireos email.
2. To get the contacts, I had to sync email to my gmail account.
3. Inbox is better than fireos email (which isn't a bad email client)
4. Running both email and inbox means both get mail pushed which causes more battery drain than I want.
I can't figure out how to have the gmail contacts without having the fire email set up for gmail. Is there a fireos contacts file I am missing? Perhaps I could allow the fireos email to exist for the gmail contacts but somehow not have it used for email other than for very occasional checking of my gmail contacts.
Any Ideas that don't involve d/l contacts to the phone?
Can't you just disable the Email app under Manage Applications in Settings? I did it with the stock Messaging app and I'm using QKSMS one from the F-Droid repo. Also did it with Silk Browser and Notes.
Nope. phone contacts disappear when email is disabled. Many other apps can be changed out without issues, but not so for the email app.

Whoa. I had no idea the two were linked. Is your Google Account set to sync your contacts?
If so, will the Google Contacts app work? This is a dump from Android 5.1.
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...ontacts-1-1-android-5-1-android-apk-download/
How about another contacts app like from ASUS or Sony?
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/zenui-...s/contacts-1-5-0-150731-android-apk-download/
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/sony-m...ts/top-contacts-1-1-0-7-android-apk-download/
DePingus, thanks for trying to help with this problem. The android contacts app works well, but appears to have nothing to do with how the fireos phone app finds contacts. For that, the fireos email is necessary.
What I'm trying to do is get rid of the fireos email app and still keep contacts working with the fireos phone app. So far, nothing has worked for me. For another approach, I've even tried installing some of ggow's modified android apps to make his dialer app work - without success.

Preferences: Accounts

Dear all,
on CM 13.1 I saw all my accounts in preferences under account (in German: Konten).
E.g. Whatsapp, Threema or my mail provider app.
I deleted my main mail up, re-installed it and entered may account manually. But it will not be shown under accounts.
All apps are working properly but currently I see only my google accounts.
Is this a new behavior or is there a mistake?
I did a dirty flash to lineageos from cm 13.1 on my S3 (i9300).
Even a clean flash brought no change in this behaviour
Thanyk you!
Best regards,
Thomas
Hi,
I have the same issue on my kipper. I installed some apps that need an account for synchronisation, but I can't create an account for these apps. Only options are Exchange, Google, IMAP and POP3.
I also can't edit or delete other accounts.
I think it's a bug and wait for the next nightly.
Regards
Ralf
Hi everybody,
just installed 14.1 on my Galaxy S5 and noticed the same behaviour, I only see my Google Account under "Preferences -> Accounts".
What is more: When I want to add another account, the only type I can choose is "Google", but I tried to set up an ActiveSync (Exchange) Account. Even IMAP and POP3 can't be found... (posted here, too: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lineage/help/activesync-account-14-1-t3564661 )
@RalfOE : Did you have the account types Exchange, POP3 and IMAP right after installing LineageOS even without GApps?
Any hint?
Thx in advance!
Snoopy
After clean Installing the last Nightly for my S5 (klte) (lineage-14.1-20170301-nightly-klte-signed.zip) the account preference page again shows all acounts, not just the google one, so this seems to be solved
Same for me. Clean install seems to be the solution.
Cheers,
Thomas
