VoLTE & VoWifi on Telstra in Australia - Xiaomi Mi 10T / 10T Pro Questions & Answers

I managed to successfully change the carrier policies on my OnePlus to enable VoWifi and VoLTE in Australia using the guide here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/volte-vowifi-and-5g-in-aus.4284047/#post-85119383
My colleague has a Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro - is there a similar set of instructions available to enable VoWifi and VoLTE on that phone in Australia?

In NZ I had success using these Phone codes that turned on VoLTE for me (no VoWIFI for my network). These seem to be standard codes for Xiaomi worldwide that enable support if the underlying software recognises your network's version.
To turn on VoLTE: open your phone app and dial *#*#86583#*#* and you'll see a quick toast message saying it's turned on. Type the code again to turn it off.
To turn on VoWifi: open your phone app and dial *#*#869434#*#*
To check settings *#*#INFO#*#*
Also look under the SIM card settings. If you've enabled either properly there should be a menu item saying "Use VoLTE" and similar.
Once enabled for me it took a few minutes for VoLTE to register. I rebooted, but don't think that was necessary. Now I make VoLTE calls (4G stays in place during the call) and I have a VoLTE icon in the status bar.

Hi guys this worked for me, I'm on three network UK
Went into settings - date - time
Switched off auto time zone then selected time zone enter Hong Kong come out of settings then select phone dialler and enter ussd code *#*#86583#*#* then rebooted phone HD appeared on notification bar which is volte.. if it works for you remember to change auto time zone to auto when finished.. hope this helps..
I was having problem with volte, it didn't work, although i turned on this option with my network carrier. Sim card was in SIM1 slot, but in settings it said SIM2 (maybe Pie bug?) and i couldn't get it working.
After changing sim to SIM2 slot i only had emergency calls. After restarting phone sim started working and it showed sim card in SIM1 (although it was in SIM2 slot). I disabled volte carrier check with *#*#86583#*#* and voila, settings for volte calling showed up and HD icon showed up
also i noticed when my sim was in SIM1 slot, when i opened those special settings with *#*#4636#*#* there were no IMSI number, and voice and network type was unknown, but after changing it to SIM2 slot, values were finally normal and IMS status showed volte available
I hope this will help someone.
Hi all! On T-Mobile USA!
Using the Dialer codes I managed to get the provisioning and all ticked. Then I cycled through every Network Type option and at one point it magically DID register, as you can see in my screenshot!
I continued testing codes after that and after no success, went back to this and was not able to replicate it.
What would we need to do from here, once IMS is registered? Can anyone else get their IMS registered on Tmo USA?
Thanks!

Force-enable VoWiFi?

Hey, so I just bought a new SIM card from Airtel, and turns out, VoWiFi is not working on it. Jio (another sim) provides VoWiFi support fully, and it works completely, by the way. I contacted both Airtel and Google and they just keep on the "blame-the-other" game.
Anyone managed to force enable VoWiFi? VoLTE works already (even though the phone isn't listed in the supported list for Airtel), but not VoWiFi.
*#*#4636#*#* says, IMS registered -> true, VoLTE -> available, VoWiFi -> unavailable, Video Calling -> unavailable, UT Interface -> unavailable.

Does anyone have WiFi calling working?

I've tried the advice on this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-mi-10-ultra/help/wifi-calling-t4157029/page2 and have managed to enable the settings for wireless calling, but when I have no mobile signal and am connected to WiFi the phone won't allow me to make calls, it says something like "unable to make call, please connect to a WiFi network"
Even though I'm connected to WiFi...
Has anyone else had any luck with this? I'm using a xiaomi Mi 10t, but I imagine it'd be the same for xiaomi Mi 10t pro.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
VoLTE and VoWiFi are working fine for me.
I bougt the phone from the same carried that I am using.
Thanks for the reply, yeah that's what I've found while I've been researching, it has to be carrier enabled for the phone. We can turn on the settings from the phone but if they haven't enabled it (usually in their branded firmware) it won't work...

I activated VoLTE and VoWiFi on my gf's Poco with the codes and the options show up but only VoLTE works.
I verified that it works, it stays on 4G while in call. When calling while on WIFI only it shows an VoLTE HD icon but VoWiFi is not working.
Don't feel to root her phone and try the other things.
Code:
VoLTE *#*#86583#*#*
VoWIFI *#*#869434#*#*

Thanks for this. I just spoke to my phone carrier yesterday and they told me that WiFi calling isn't supported from their end... So it looks like I'll be changing carrier, I need this to work

VOLTE: how to activate?

Hello all
i have a moto z2 play xt1710-08 with android 8.
My Italian operator enabled the VOLTE calls but my Motorola when I call, it switches from 4G to 3G. In the settings I have no entry to enable VOLTE.
So I entered into the secret menu. Here I have both the VOLTE and CALLS WITH WIFI but they are not enabled and I cannot enable them as you see in the screenshot.
How can I enable the VOLTE?
Thanks

I had a similar problem. I would call your Italian operator back, and once again, ask them to enable VoLTE on your line/account/number. Then, power cycle your phone.
I had the same problem with my USA operator. I called, and got thru to their Tech Support. The Tech Support person started to give me a lecture that VoLTE has been enabled on all accounts, and he stopped his lecture when he saw it wasn't actually enabled for me. He enables it. I power cycled my phone, the Provisioning VoLTE is now shown un-gray'ed, and I flip the slide switch on.

Question Battery drain with bad LTE signal but with Wifi on?

Hello everyone,
on my companies area I have a really bad phone signal (LTE). How ever, I am constantly connected to my companies WIFI.
I now wonder if being connected to the WIFI will reduce battery drain due to low LTE signal?
I was hoping that the phone then only needs to search for better reception if the signal for phone calls (bot not internet) goes completely off?
Another solution would be to use Tasker to switch to my company SIM with full signal strenght (I am using dual SIM) for data/internet when on my companies area.
In any case, my private SIM will still always have bad signal but will be active for phone calls. However, my data reception will be very good (while I am still also connected to WIFI).
Just looking for the best solution in terms of battery drain.
Thanks!
VoWifi is a boon for low cellular coverage area usage while saving battery life on WIFI and still being available for phone calls. Ask your provider for specifics
Ahh thanks for that hint!
So if I enable Voice over WIFI, then my phone will stop searching for better radio signal if the WIFI signal is good enough?
Yes, in fact you can enable Airplane Mode which switches off all radios, turn on wifi radio manually to enjoy great battery life and VoWifi calls.

Hmm except that I can't seem to find the option on Android 12 to enable wifi calling :S :S
Even without VoWifi you can save battery life by manually switching to 3G or even 2G for calls while using high speed data on wifi
Your carrier must support VoWifi to be seen as an option on your device.
Here is a list of US carriers that use the newer advanced Vo technologies:
T-Mobile
– VoLTE: Yes
– VoWiFi: Yes
AT&T
– VoLTE: Yes
– VoWiFi: No
Verizon
– VoLTE: Yes
– VoWiFi: No
Sprint
– VoLTE: Yes
– VoWiFi: Yes
I am from Europe so I use a different carrier. That carrier has VoLTE and VoWiFi enabled.
How ever, it seems like the carrier also has to approve each specific devices to be allowed to use VoWiFi.
As the P6P is not being officially sold in my country, I suspect that my carrier doesn't have my device on their whitelist :/
VoLTE/VoWiFi Activation
It is mandatory to have your Pixel rooted with Magisk to install this module. Make sure that Magisk is installed properly on your system, then proceed with these steps:
Install this module (Zip file) on Magisk and reboot the system.
After rebooting, the phone may be showing "No service" due to the parsing of new configurations, so please wait until the operator name showed up.
Go to Settings -> Network and Internet -> Mobile network and enable "Enhanced 4G LTE Mode" and "Wi-Fi calling".
Turn off Wi-Fi
Go to Phone -> dial *#*#4636#*#* -> Phone information tap at the top-right button, select "IMS Service Status".
Check if IMS Registration is Registered and Voice over LTE is Available then, congrats, you're succeeded.
(Voice over Wi-Fi will be activated upon the "Wi-Fi calling" option in 2.)

After rooting, try this with any terminal app like termux from f-droid
Code:
su
settings put global wfc_ims_mode 2
Toggle Airplane mode on and then off
Enable Wifi preferred toggle in settings

Thank you very much. I will probably root soon and will give it a try then. Although there is an github issue open which says that the module is not support by the Pixel 5.
Just a bit annoying that I would have to apply this after every OTA but I guess it's doable
I also talked to my carrier today. They are saying that only phones that are being sold by the carrier support VoWiFi as the phones OS needs special settings that are being provided by the carrier. That is why usually the Android updates from phones bought through our carriers come later than the official google updates (due to the carrier updating the OS himself first).
On the other hand it seems like google could integrate those "special" settings right out of the box.
How ever, google seems to say the carrier has to get in touch with them and start the procedure whole the carrier says that is google who has to take care of it by them self.
Since the phone signal for my SIM is really bad on my companies area but the WIFI is very good, this should then hopefully help a lot with battery drain.
