Question Solved: Device can not see OTA - OnePlus 9 Pro

Edit-It turns out since our AA global edition takes OTA directly from Google server instead of OnePlus like EU & India. I tried fastboot booting the original image and the two incremental updates showed up but wouldn't dl & install until I fastboot flashed the original images, so the boot has to match from what I gather. I just need to figure out where the OTA is stored before I reboot. I looked on sdcard under .OTA but it didn't show so that is what I'd like to know. Thanks to everyone on the forum because I'd definitely be lost like usual if it wasn't for all the help and contributions.
(My original question)-
Hi, would anyone know why my 9 Pro(AA) cannot see the OTA file I downloaded with Oxygen updater? By the way, in oxygen updater the update, it only shows in advanced mode.

Advanced mode in Oxygen updater is normal if you have root.
Does Oxygen updater have storage permission?

Make sure it's on the root. Make sure it's a .zip

Hi thanks for the reply y'all. Yes the file is downloaded but when I go to system for apply update locally, it can't see the zip.

Hi thanks, yes all that I made sure of. I tried renaming, etc but maybe because by default I'm not getting the update and by default oxygen updater is not showing the incremental update. It's only being showed when I check advanced. I can go to the file with my file manager but it's like when I select local file the system doesn't detect it. Everything is just like on my 8 pro except the system not being able to see the file and says place in root directory which it is. Maybe because I believe it's a India OTA possibly? I'm on 11.0.4.4 trying to go to 11.2.6.6. thanks everyone,

Probably the wrong region. It won't offer it via Settings if it's not the right region. Check your Oxygen Updater settings to make sure you picked the correct region.

Thanks, I've just bitten my tongue so hard the tip fell off.

I was using the 'Props' module tool to spoof to a pixel 5. I could not see the update until I reverted this.
After that the update *.zip showed and I was able to apply it.

Thank you, I believe this is "on the money". I was just wondering, because that problem was still an issue; thank you for replying.

AOD for Pixel XL on P DP1

Back on Oreo, all we had to do was bring the Framework-res__auto_generated.apm from the Pixel 2 (or Pixel 2 XL) and install it in System/vendor/overlay. Since we don't have root (yet) for P, is there any other way to do it? I tried via TWRP (ADB in TWRP and making a flashable zip) but I'm honestly not extremely experienced with this. Via TWRP I can't get system/vendor/overlay to show, and putting the APK in Vendor/overlay doesn't seem to activate it. Any ideas, or just wait for root?

Looks like root is working sorta with magisk, just an issue with magisk manager. You might be able to get unrestricted root access to a file explorer app and compete your task. Let me know how it goes because id like to get AOD working too :good:

To get this working, flash Magisk 16 via TWRP, boot up and use a file manager (I used ES file manager) to move the APK here to system/vendor/overlay overwrite the original. The phone will either reboot, or systemui will crash, when you get back in, go into the file manager again and set the correct permissions.
Make sure you remove your passwords, just incase something goes wrong while installing it.

Awesome, thanks! I tried installing it but now all the apps are crashing and I can't get back into my file manager to set the correct permissions, it crashes too. Is there a way to get the file manager to work? I'm using Solid Explorer on 8.1

If you are on 8.1, you need to use the APK extracted from a 8.1 system IMG for the Pixel 2 or Pixel XL 2. As for the file manager, try Amaze, I used it when ES was crashing non-stop.

Yeah the one from the foreground thread is the one I used. This might be a dumb question but how did you open the system image from the pixel 2 factory image to get the framework file? I can't open the .img as an archive and it fails to mount on both windows and Mac saying it's a corrupted image (downloaded straight from Google's site)

I went through that link, installed the extractor for Windows and tested it with the March 8.1 for Sailfish. Worked flawlessly. Download the March 8.1 for Walleye, "imgextractor has stopped working" and only extracts about 1/4 of the system img. You weren't kidding it really is a pain

It doesn't work on windows, needs to be Linux. Try installing it in a virtual machine, only way I was able to get it working.

Any chance I could get you to post the March 2018 from the Pixel 2 non-xl?
I've been trying to get this system image extractor to work and even on Linux am running into issues.
Anyways, if not no worries but I'd be very thankful if you could find the time!

I don't think it's much different honestly, it SHOULD still work the same. The original XL and 2 XL are significantly different and it works fine, I have also used the APK from the normal Pixel 2 on my XL with no issues.

Miui 10?

Two days ago my updater said new update available which was miui 10 but when I tried to download it... The updater says no updates available ( I cannot post the link to the image since I'm new member). Mine is currently 9.6.4.0 (OEICNFD). Do I need to do something to fix that or I just have to wait? Anyone facing same problem like me? Thanks for your attention.

Have a look here: https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-redmi-note-5-pro-mi-5-mi-6-mi-mix-mix-2-mi-note-2-miui-10-global-stable/
Just download the rom for the Redmi Note 5, and then install it manually. It's the Global version, btw. I did this with mine and it feels even more snappier. Nonetheless, there is some behaviour with the navigation bar, and perhaps some notifications won't arrive to your lockscreen because there are notification channels per app now. I highly recommend looking for those channels (just hold the notification for a few seconds and then tap on "All categories", and then config each option. If for some reason problems are still showing, perform a factory reset via Settings > Advanced settings > Backup and restore.
Hope you find this useful

In theory, you shouldn't lose any data. My recommendation, perform a backup using Google Drive (Settings > Additional settings > Backup and restore, and then choose Google backup, not MIUI's).
As for photos, videos, WhatsApp messages and stuff like that, my recommendation is to backup your WhatsApp chats with Google Drive, then set Flight Mode on and move each folder of the internal storage to a SD card. Only after having done this, remove your SD card and perform the update. It's your best choice so as not to lose any data.
After your phone is back on again, only remains moving back those folders from the SD card to the internal storage. Easy peasy

Android q beta 2

Anyone running Android Q beta 2 ? Can you make a comparison to Pie in terms of speed or apps that crash or hang? TIA
I have no apps crashing and no apps unable to start. Performance and battery are identical to Pie.
The Android Q is definitely a daily driver for me.
EDIT: The only single issue I have is that double-tap or lift to wake are not working.

How best to backout of the AndroidQ beta2?
Installed but Android Auto is playing up so want to go back to v8
Can't mount system partition R/W on Marlin using TWRP 3.2.3-1 once updated to AQB2 (although I did a dirty update by removing the -w erase flag from the bat file before executing.) Guess I'll try nuking everything and rebuilding from scratch to see if the partitions will mount R/W to install Magisk...

As you can see in this screenshot, it's working just fine. You have to install the latest Magisk canary build. TWRP won't work to do some backups, but you can flash it fine.
Been running Q2 for a few days and is a great daily driver. As soon as Nova paid was installed I have no complaints
and battery life has been excellent. Coming from the Essential phone rooted this has been a pleasant surprise. For 180.00 new
unlocked on Sprint this is a good deal. I also prefer the 16x9 screen and camera.
So, I have some weirdness going on…
I screwed up and tried to install the last P build after getting the ota beta Q update….i had issues (possibly of my own making).
Realized that trying to go back wasn’t going to work so I thought I would just reinstall the Q beta version 2, I downloaded it…all seemed well until I wanted to get to “settings”
I can pull the “curtain’ down and see a few quick access icons (wifi, Bluetooth, airplane mode…) but it won’t pull farther down (second swipe) to see other options and the “settings” gear at the top. I also don’t seem to be getting notifications, I hear them but don’t see an icon.
I also can’t get to the setting that allow me to transfer files.
Any ideas?
Edit: also can't get to my app drawer...
Edit 2: home button doesn't work either...
I got it, it must have been a bad "dirty flash", did a clean install, and all is working as expected...except,
I've got root but can't see my internal storage with ES file explorer (I can see it when using my PC) (or any other root explorer) and can't edit my build.prop (can't save it)

EMUI 10 & apks

Greets all,
my Mate 20x came up that there was an update to EMUI 10 so I updated, all went well from what I saw, except now I cant install apks from dropbox, it comes up saying: "please download an app that can open this file". I cant download files from the play store and install, and I have made sure that install from unknown sources was enabled. I also made sure "files" app was set to allowed also. The update version is: 10.0.0.176, and no newer version is coming up. This is the Chinese version AL-00
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Update, seems the only way I can install apps is by using HiSuite at the moment.

my Mate 20x came up that there was an update to EMUI 10 so I updated, all went well from what I saw, except now I cant install apks from dropbox, it comes up saying: "please download an app that can open this file". I cant download files from the play store and install, and I have made sure that install from unknown sources was enabled. I also made sure "files" app was set to allowed also. The update version is: 10.0.0.176, and no newer version is coming up. This is the Chinese version AL-00
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using Chinese version and have no single problems with apks. You should try to reset factory your phone and try again

hm, interesting. have u tried downloading the apk files from dropbox to your local storage first, then try and open them with the huawei files app? for me that is the only app that is able to install other apps, es file explorer pro is not able to do so.
btw, new update got pushed for AL00, going from 176 to 185 havent installed it yet though.

No I cant do anything with Dropbox, but I was able to use HiSuite to install apks. And i just got the update you were talking about, installing it now, maybe this will fix the issue with the apks installing from dropbox, cause as the prior user said, I dont want to factory reset and have to put everything back if its not going to work. There is another issue I noticed with the update also, If I go out of Wifi range I lose access to the internet, in other words the cell data doesnt kick in unless I turn off the mobile data and then turn it back on. So far very annoying update. Maybe this 185 can fix these. Here's hoping and trying.

Well the update didnt fix the dropbox issue, tapping on the file prompts the error. so the update didnt fix the problem. I guess when it gets to be a pain either I fix it, install through HiSuite, or factory reset.
Try installing apk from Files app.

After downloading it from dropbox to the internal storage, then using files does install the apk, but I dont know why it wont directly from dropbox.

thats what u was trying to tell you from the start! use the files app!
im guessing it has to do with system rights to install apk files. even es file explorer pro is not allowed to do it with all permissions given.
