AICP
Android Ice Cold Project
AICP is known by everyone as the "Ice Cold Project" that started on a Desire HD years ago (2012) and since then has evolved into a mature ROM with the BEST community that you can find!!!
Until Android Lollipop, the ROM has always been based on AOKP. Unfortunately, since AOKP stopped development (but made a comeback later), we changed our base to CM.
With the re-brand of CM to LineageOS (LOS), we became LineageOS based with some tweaks from AOSP and then changed to be based on the "Ground Zero Open Source Project" (GZOSP) for Android Pie.
We changed again for Android Q-R with a base of AOSP repositories and some additions from LineageOS for device-specific repositories.
If there are any bugs we will sort them out if it concerns our codebase. This ROM isn't LineageOS supported, so there is no need to report errors/bugs to them!!

FAQ:
Before using the ROM:
Q. Can I have an ETA for the next build?
A. Yes, just look here to see what day your device is built on.
Q. Does this ROM support custom kernels officially?
A. No. You can still use them, but the discussion should go in the thread of the respective kernel. We don't offer support for bugs you might encounter while using them!
Q. Does this ROM include GApps or do I have to flash them separately?
A. No, we do not include prebuilt GApps, because of possible licensing issues with Google Software and because some users do not want GApps preinstalled as they want to use alternative services like MicroG or just prefer flashing a GApps "flavor" of their liking.
Q. Does this ROM use the camera or gallery app from stock?
A. It depends on the device. In most cases these apps include proprietary libs/code and cannot be included in the device trees on Github or we risk having the ROM banned from Github. In this case, we might try to make them installable (separate from the ROM zip), or we might provide a version of these apps with the ROM that doesn't include any proprietary libs. It's also sometimes the case that these apps are simply not included because we didn't feel the need to do so for the device in question.
Q. Does this ROM have Extended/Scrolling screenshot?
A. No, extended screenshot was implemented using an app extracted and modified from manufacturer firmware/system images and is proprietary as well. It led to the closing of many ROM's sources on GitHub.
Q. Does this ROM have FaceUnlock?
A. No, FaceUnlock was also an app extracted and modified from some manufacturers. Even Google removed the Trusted Face (FaceUnlock) feature for security reasons on Android 9.0/10.x. Adding the modified feature did the same to ROM sources as described above.
Q. Can you add (insert favorite weather provider)?
A. No, we cannot add more weather providers as the implementations change and we (the ROM) now have to pay for most services, and that is not cheap, so we decided to use the best free service that we could find, the only way to add your own is for users to apply for their own API key to use their preferred service.
Q. Does this ROM have private official builds with the above proprietary libs included?
A. No, we believe in open source software, this way users know what's in the build and can replicate it themselves, all official builds are built on our build servers using the public sources from github and no one can (or would) add their own private sources to the build.
Flashing the ROM:
Q. What do I need to know before flashing?
A. Check the flashing instructions...
Q. Can the builds be dirty flashed over each other?
A. Yes, this is the usual behavior on flashing a new official build by (or using) the build-in updater service.
Using the ROM:
Q. Do I need to provide a logcat if I'm reporting a bug?
A. If you want it to be fixed faster (or at all) then yes, you should definitely provide a logcat AND the model name. (Note: Please just link the logcat from your GDrive, Dropbox, etc. Do not post the content here. Thanks.)
Q. How do I get a logcat, what type should I get, and more questions that can conveniently be answered by my pre-determined answer?
A1. Read this thoroughly. Also, here's a good app for getting logs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog (Root needed).
A2. If you are already rooted, you can use the built-in feature to make a logcat and provide that. Just look into the others section on the AICP Extras main page.
The ROM should contain everything you need to enjoy Android R. You don't need to install any Add-ons, simply download the latest ROM and GApps, then follow the flashing instructions and go!
If you want the device to run the ROM "rooted", you can flash a root solution of your choice after the ROM zip file.
It is STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing and please avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup (or with any backup/restore app) as this can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug, restoring regular apps is fine though.
If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience any strange behavior.
How to flash for the first time:
(Again: Don't do it if you don't know!)
1. Download the AICP installation package that you would like to install or build the package yourself.
Optionally, download an application package add-on such as Google Apps (use the arm64 architecture).
2. If you are not in recovery, reboot into recovery:
With the device powered off, hold Volume Down + Power. Then use the menu to select Recovery Mode.
Now tap Factory Reset, then Format data / factory reset and continue with the formatting process. This will remove encryption and delete all files stored in the internal storage, as well as format your cache partition (if you have one).
Return to the main menu.
3. Sideload the AICP .zip package:
On the device, select “Apply Update”, then “Apply from ADB” to begin sideload.
On the host machine, sideload the package using: adb sideload filename.zip.
4. (Optionally): If you want to install any add-ons, click Advanced, then Reboot to Recovery, then when your device reboots, click Apply Update, then Apply from ADB, then adb sideload filename.zip those packages in sequence.
NOTE: If you want the Google Apps add-on on your device, you must follow this step before booting into AICP for the first time!
Current Root Solution:

WOW. I'm surprised. Most of the rom existed in HTC HD or later were discontinued. The logo reminds me the good old days. LOL

Do I need to upgrade to stock A11 before flashing this? I'm on a custom A10 rom at the moment. Thanks!

My device was on 11 when i started with it, didn't test your scenario myself so i'm not quite sure..
I think it should work when coming from 10 custom ROM, but cannot confirm at this time.
Maybe someone can check this and let me know?

One more question - does this ROM have an option to enable left/right keyboard cursors on the Nav Bar during text input? Thanks!

Instructions

Finally got it done! Flashing went smooth (didn't do update to Android 11 stock, flashed straight on top of custom A10 ROM), root and setup smooth, all main features are working fine; even Revolut and google pay are fine Thank You!
The only problem is Google camera, it refuses to launch :-( I did try play store version, did try moded one with same result - back to home screen with no time… Should GCam work on this rom? Default camera app is working OK.

P.S.: PX Camera (gcam mod) is working! Didn't test advanced functions, but at least it starts and makes pictures

Been using this for a few days with Mindthegapps and everything works so far except the camera, but PX Camera does work. Wifi calling, VoLTE, bluetooth, google pay all work. Magisk passes SafetyNet. The only minor issues I've found are:
When I first tried to change the statusbar clock to center aligned, it disappeared. Tried again later and it worked, so not sure what happened.
I am running dark theme with Base Theme, QS Style, and Notifications all set to Gray. The notifications on the lock screen are still black... however if I swipe them down a few pixels, they turn gray.
Loving the extra customization this has coming from DU, going to be the new daily driver.
It would be nice to have a separate download for the boot.img so we don't have to extract it on every update, but not a big deal.

Thanks for using AICP.
So far I have no solution for PlayStore GCam crashes. Still investigating.. Please use PX or any other working GCam mod for now.
Statusbar clock alignment should be fixed afaik. Check with current weekly build.
Black / gray lockscreen color change i just reproduced myself. Weird.. Thx for reporting this, gonna check it out with our theming guy.
It is not required to extract boot.img from payload on every update:
- Install OTA from AICP Extras (it will install in inactive slot)
- Do not reboot after OTA installation, instead go to Magisk Manager Install section and select "install in inactive slot"
- Procedure verified with last 2 OTA updates and working fine

why can't you just provide the boot.img? I would rather not install python just for this one purpose.
I flashed stock 11 and can't sideload the latest zip.
image-sargo-rq2a.210305.006
so its not even the latest. I even tried the latest. what stock image should I be using? and should there be a non-stock recovery used?

Boot Image download link added to OP

Updates this week:
- new APN configs added for Sprint
- kernel updated to current version 4.9.276
- added UI blur effects (toggle in AICP Extras)
- system wakelock / alarm blocker switch in developer options
- Camera PX included (credits to cstark27, see here for more information)

Been using this rom since the beginning and dirty flashing all the updates. Started having some freezing issues and eventually bootloop on the latest build so I decided to factory reset. It fixed all my issues.
However I was using a 6x6 unlock pattern before with Google backup turned on. After the clean flash, I tried restoring from the backup. It asked for my unlock pattern to decrypt the backup, but it only offered a 3x3 pattern. So I was not able to restore the backup and had to redo everything. I think that's more on the Gapps side rather than the rom, but just a warning to anyone using more than 3x3 dots unlock pattern.

Q. What do I need to know before flashing?
A. Check the flashing instructions...
Q. Can the builds be dirty flashed over each other?
A. Yes, this is the usual behavior on flashing a new official build by (or using) the build-in updater service.
Q. How do I 'dirty flash' builds?
A. Wipe the System, Cache, and ART/Dalvik cache. Flash the ROM, GApps (only needed if you wipe the system), your preferred root solution, and reboot. Or just use the OTA app to perform that task for you.
Q. How do I flash kernel builds?
A1. If it's a .img file, boot into TWRP and go to the install page in TWRP, in the bottom right corner select "install image", select the desired kernel, then select "boot" as the destination, then swipe to flash, then go back to the install screen and install your root method again, if you don't want to lose root and reboot.
A2. If it's a flashable ZIP, you can flash it together with a ROM update or separately. Go to the install page in TWRP, choose the kernel zip (or add it to the flash queue right after the ROM zip). Then add your root method to the queue if you don't want to lose root. Now swipe to flash and reboot afterward.
NOTE:
WE ARE ENCRYPTED (FILE BASED FORCED ENCRYPTION). So if you are unencrypted format data partition or use any no_verity solution you want. We don't support it.
Needed firmware: 10.0.1
1. Download the ROM and GApps and transfer them to your device.
2. Boot to recovery (TWRP recommended).
3. Wipe the System, Cache, and Data (you might need to format the data partition!).
4. Flash the ROM zip file.
5. Flash the GApps (optional, needed for e.g. Google Playstore to work)
6. Reboot and set up your device, enable developer settings and in them, OEM unlock/Advanced reboot/USB tethering.
7. Reboot back into TWRP recovery.
8. Flash the root solution of your choice (optional).
9. Reboot your device.
The procedure may vary from device to device and is a bit different on system updates!
The ROM has GApps persistence in between dirty flashes, so you only have to flash them once! This might differ on AvB Devices.
Currently supported Root Solution:
Magisk stable
Magisk versions >= 21.4 don't usually need to be flashed on every dirty flash.
Depending on the device, you may need to flash it every time, unless your maintainer says otherwise, you should be fine.
PREREQUISITE FOR OTA ("Over-The-Air" Updates):
TWRP recovery is needed to be able to flash using the built-in OTA app.
Please make sure that you are on the latest TWRP recovery, keep in mind that this could also be an unofficial version!
On encrypted devices, you will have to enter your PIN/password in TWRP before the process starts.

Hello all,
is there a possibility in the application history,
to set the function for "Close all apps" from the left side to the front ?
Then you don't need to swipe through all the open apps first.
Otherwise, this is a very good custom rom.
A big compliment to the developers.
I installed this ROM yesterday and it worked perfectly but today I restarted my phone and now it's stuck on "phone is starting..."
any idea's how to sort this?
Flashed today, everything stable and working nicely. Thanks dev. Only thing I miss is dotfix pre installed but no biggie
EDIT: auto-flash on camera doesn't work? all picture is black... only with activated flash i can do some pictures
I did a clean install on my unrooted device. However most of banking apps are now detecting root. The device is safetyNew test.

Thanks to the developer for a good stable rom. Below additions would make it more usable-
1. Currently, the minimum number of rows of notification is fixed at 2. Can be that made as 1?
2. Could you the OP5 camera fix be shipped with the rom itself?
3. Ambient sensor sensitivity was better and smoother in earlier builts. Seems less smooth in more recent builds.
Thanks for update 13/09/2021

Answered in the FAQ.
I broke the screen on my OP7T last night. So happy my OP5 was up to date with AICP this morning. AICP works every time!
Thanks Guys!
This is the best ROM I've tried in a long time. And damn, I've tried basically every ROM now: crDroid, Pixel Exp. Plus, AOSP, POSP and Lineage. And all these just for Android 11.
I'm donating as soon as I get a new job, which hopefully will happen soon.
Thank you so much. Keep it up!
Hey, two things: Is there a way to turn off the battery percentage orange tint while on Battery Saver Mode? Is there a way to allow the brightness slider into the quick settings? I need to pull it completely in order to show the slider, but in many ROMs a setting allows it to be shown on the quick panel.
Thanks in advance!

You can turn on quick pull down which will pull down the QS panel in one swipe. It can be set to go from either the right or left side. I set mine up that way so I use one swipe for full QS access which gives me the brightness slider.

I was hoping a specific settings that would allow to move the brightness to the bottom instead of the top, but that works. Thank you!

We changed again for Android Q-S with a base of AOSP repositories and some additions from LineageOS for device-specific repositories.
If there are any bugs we will sort them out if it concerns our codebase. This ROM isn't LineageOS supported, so there is no need to report errors/bugs to them!!
Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
* Your warranty is now void.

* We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications and if
* you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you. Hard & a lot.

In most cases, these apps include proprietary libs/code and cannot be included in the device trees on GitHub or we risk having the ROM banned from GitHub.
A. No, we believe in open source software, this way users know what's in the build and can replicate it themselves, all official builds are built on our build servers using the public sources from GitHub, and no one can (or would) add their own private sources to the build.
Flashing the ROM:
Q. What do I need to know before flashing?
A. Check the flashing instructions...
Q. Can the builds be dirty flashed over each other?
A. Yes, this is how users can/should install updates most of the time, this can be done with the built-in updater service or with a custom recovery.
Q. How do I 'dirty flash' builds?
A 1. For "A only" devices: Wipe the System, Cache, and ART/Dalvik cache. Flash the ROM, GApps (only needed if you wipe the system), your preferred root solution, and reboot. Or just use the OTA app to perform that task for you.
A 2. For "A/B" devices": Wipe the ART/Dalvik cache. Flash the ROM, reboot to the recovery, flash GApps, your preferred root solution, and reboot.
The ROM should contain everything you need to enjoy Android S.
1. Download the ROM and GApps and transfer them to your device.
2. Boot to recovery (TWRP is recommended, the lineage recovery is a great alternative however, it will not decrypt the internal storage so you will have to flash the rom with adb sideload or usb OTG or with an external sdcard).
3. Wipe the System (DO NOT WIPE THE SYSTEM ON A/B DEVICES!), Cache, and Data (you might need to format the data partition!).
4. Flash the ROM zip file (reboot to recovery before flashing anything else if you have an "A/B" device).
5. Flash the GApps (optional, needed for e.g. Google Playstore to work)
6. Reboot and set up your device.
7. You can then reboot to recovery and flash the root solution of your choice if you want to, and then boot back to the system.
The procedure may vary from device to device and is a bit different on system updates!
The ROM has GApps persistence in between dirty flashes, so you only have to flash them once! This might differ on A/B Devices.
Currently supported Root Solution:
Magisk stable
Magisk versions >= 20.4 don't usually need to be flashed on every dirty flash.
Depending on the device, you may need to flash it every time, unless your maintainer says otherwise, you should be fine.
Instructions for OTA ("Over-The-Air" Updates) on "A only" devices (not A/B):
TWRP recovery is needed to be able to flash using the built-in OTA app.
Please make sure that you are on the latest TWRP recovery, keep in mind that this could also be an unofficial version!
On encrypted devices, you will have to enter your PIN/password in TWRP before the process starts.
Open the updater app, download the update, then press install, press reboot when prompted, you will be taken to TWRP, there isn't any need to flash GApps separately
Instructions for OTA ("Over-The-Air" Updates) on "A/B" devices:
Open the updater app, download the update, then press install and wait for the process to finish (feel free to let it run in the background), then press reboot when prompted, there isn't any need to flash GApps separately

Awesome!
So far ony thing i noticed is that under aicp settings quick settings if you try to turn off edit icon power menu etc from pulldown they are still there.other then that so far very nice
Oh man, I wish I had a Pro! I haven't seen an AICP ROM on so many years!
Few questions!
1. I understand this not official ACIP, however, is official kernel been used in the rom or some other custom kernel (kernel details will be preferable).
2. Is Oneplus setting available.
3. How is the sound quality compare to other rom and also mic working fine, is there any type of echo or even distortion in the sound qulaity.
4. Is wrap charging available.
5. Is AOD working fine, becuase some roms in Oneplus developing section the AOD (Ambient Display) is too dim it's extremely hard to see in daylight condition unless power button is pressed.

1. The kernel being used here is the same one used in MSMXtended.
2. Yes, OnePlus settings are available
3. I don't think so, but test it out and let me know.
4. Most likely not.
5. AOD is working.

LOL I was the first victim. Let me try the new version now.
Awesome ROM. Super fast and cool. Have not run into overheating in the last couple of hours. I like this kernel on AICP. There are a couple of minor bugs I ran into no big deal. Once they pop up again I will address them.
Questions:
Where is the 60/120hz button?
Can we add reTicker for notifications?

The settings to switch 60hz or 120hz, I can't find it.
ReTicker changes the notifications bubble aod to a scrolling line aod.
When pressing power key for me it only opens Google assistant... Anyone else having this problem or is it something I've done wrong?

Maybe the setting to change that is not present in this ROM. Maybe ReTicker works? I've never tried it before.

AICP is sick Rom, try it out!
Hi, I have 4 issues.
1) Torch from quick settings works, but Torch by long press power button not.
2) Sometimes there is one row of quick settings and sometimes, there are two in notifications panel before expand.
3) Long press Caffeine quick settings should turn on infinite Caffeine. Prevent display to turn off. Instead it behave like click - turn on 5:45m Caffeine.
4) Gboard move cursor ability on space is way too quick. Seems like app issue, but it was ok yesterday on different Rom.
Can anybody help or confirm?
But instead I am very happy. Add block without root or VPN, slim recents, hide nav bar.. Great Rom
I've flashed the rom yesterday out of curiosity after months on crdroid, it is great drishal took over the development of Aicp Rom is really smooth and battery seems good so far. I confirm torch issue when pressing lockscreen which is annoying, it is an issue I found like 6-8 months ago in first android 12 roms, it is working in crdroid for instance. Some translation in aicp extra are missing in French, also volume slider sometimes doesn't disappear after upping volume, I have to press down to make it go away.
Ps : I don't find 60-120hz options
@OUTbrain @nicky69100 you better join the TG group to get instant support, I dont think he uses xda that often.

Anyways just wanted to make a small post on why i sold my alioth
Long story short
My mi11x was auto shutting down for some reason
Took to service center
They replaced bottom fbc board
Then after a few days it began happening again
Then again took to sc
They again replaced the same thing
Then the issue happened AGAIN
they then took it for motherboard replacement
They then call after 20 days and say that motherboard has been replaced
But a few hrs later they call again and say the issue happening again
Then again after a few hrs they say it might have gotten fixed
I finally reached the breaking point and sold my 11x , and got the nothing phone 1 lmao
"
Devlopment might hopefully continue with phone 1 after sometime (probably android 13)
hello everyone I had great expectations from this room unfortunately I ve to say it's quite buggy .
1)heads up notifications are not showing at all I ve made sure to enable it in every possible settings.
2)qs tile number very often reset to 4
3)since I use xposed edge pro I hide the navigation /Taskbar wich works for most app except Instagram that won't fill the entire screen ,leaving empty space at the bottom .
does anyone have any workaround for these bugs rather than going back to lineage OS?
thank you very much for the help .

We changed again for Android Q-S with a base of AOSP repositories and some additions from LineageOS for device-specific repositories.
If there are any bugs we will sort them out if it concerns our codebase. This ROM isn't LineageOS supported, so there is no need to report errors/bugs to them!!
Code:

This ROM has Gapps included (based on MTG)
You tell...
A. This ROM has Gapps included (based on MTG)
Q. Does this ROM use the camera or gallery app from stock?
A. It depends on the device. In most cases, these apps include proprietary libs/code and cannot be included in the device trees on GitHub or we risk having the ROM banned from GitHub.
The ROM should contain everything you need to enjoy Android T. You don't need to install any Add-ons, simply download the latest ROM, then follow the flashing instructions and go!
1. Download the ROM and transfer to your device.
5. Reboot and set up your device.
6. You can then reboot to recovery and flash the root solution of your choice if you want to, and then boot back to the system.
The procedure may vary from device to device and is a bit different on system updates!

Hide app not work. Nice rom
I installed your rom, was surprise it was more stable than i was thinking since nobody replied too much yet to your new rom posting. My sole request for a rom's always the "When screen's off, hold power button for flash light" and i was super happy to see this one got that option. Kinda wish there was more theme option like a solarised one or a way to have more option to install ourself or a custom "Select color for XYZ element" for the theming. It still satisfy me enough while i wait for the battery life and bug to be ironed out on droidian. Will report back if there's any bug or issue since i have barely used my phone for youtube only in kiwi web browser. Sole issue i had was chrome not wanting to install (and was like the last app hung to not restore from my android 11 install backup of blisspop) and trying to cancel and install it from the playstore don't seem to work either. I will be rooting the phone and see it everything else still work afterward. Thank you for the awesome rom. Super pleased with it and hope i can continue rocking it for the whole summer until november.

Thanks for your review and hope you enjoy AICP. I guess no replies means no complaints.. Imho ROM is ready for daily usage, but keep in mind its still WIP. I agree some more theming stuff would be great - might come soon.. No issues installing Chrome on my devices, probably it doesn't like your backup. Try cleaning Playstore cache or start from scratch.
Want to report a bug, tried to take a picture but the picture are stuck on processing hdr, gone to the setting and enabled manual option for HDR, go in the new option, disabled it and it now process (but old failed pix still processing) but flash stopped working if HDR got disabled.
Edit : Forgot to mention i had yet to flash root

noticed, looking into it
Another bug i found was google home not showing in the power menu, there's a shortcut in the notication section but i remember on older android you could hold power button and it would show there. When i selected the option in the notification icon, it asked me if i wanted to add it there (or was it lockscreen), i said yes but it's still not in the power menu. I don't plan to reboot my phone before a couple more hours, so i will edit back when i do if it's showing there afterward. Unsure if the power button menu's stock or modified, if the later, that might explain it, if stock, i wonder if they removed it in the latest android version.
Edit : No dice after reboot either
Edit 2 : Forgot to mention once i had rebooted, the flash's now working with HDR staying off.

Forgive me for the potentially dumb question, but can this ROM be installed from TWRP 3.7 for Sargo? I ask because this TWRP version was made for Android 12.
