Thanks a lot.
The first time I eared about this rom.
I add it to my list to test when I'll finish investigating and fed up of EU rom.
(Syberia, ancienOS and OneOS.)

I don't mean to sound like an a-hole but...Root + KonaBess (undervolt/underclock) is much better solution than that Magisk module:

All of these problems are experienced by a small minority of owners. Most users have no issues at all. My only issue is a 2-3 second delay in auto brightness, but I am on a custom ROM. In MIUI everything was working as it should

Of course , majority of people don't use their phone 24/7 , those few that do are not telling fairy tales lmao
Every single phone suffers from these , it's just that majority are dumb enough that they can't even notice it.
Every single issue I saw mentioned here on xda I experienced myself too , many more that aren't reported as well ...
It's a shet phone from shet company ... Only saving grace for it is unlockable bootloader and sources , but even that is barely worth to be dealing with all of this ....
These phones are really cheap but this is gonna be my last one , I'd rather spend 2/3x the amount on my next one than have experience like this again

For average Joe yeah , for everyone else that cares about performance on paper actually being present - get fapple. 100% , go and buy their phone it's 1000x better experience no kidding from gaming to work environment.
Aosp ROMs take away all of the good things from the phone ( Correct touch polling , cpu/gpu drivers that aren't from Qualcomm test app , and everything else from camera sensors , picture quality to battery charging speed and battery thermal profiles ... )
ROMs we have now are dirty fix for someone that doesn't care much about all these features... Drivers aren't open source and Devs are pacing behind trying to write their own. Definitely not a fix or solution of any kind untill we are able to fully utilise hardware of this phone.
Get a phone that doesn't come with shet software , that you don't have to flash custom ROM on to disable dumb fkin shet like adaptive refresh rate and such that throttles touch polling based on what the Chinese Devs think is good enough for you...
If I buy a 120hz screen and 360hz touch polling phone I expect to get this much , aosp ROMs give u 120hz screen but touch lags , miui gives you 120hz screen and 360hz touch polling ( All good when it works ) but it's only sometimes... Barely works , takes a lot of dumb shet to enable all of this and even then you have to constantly re enable everything after reboot / after some time of phone being in sleep... Shet experience, you have to chase the phone - beg it to give you the performance it advertised.
All these issues on miui are from them doing you a "favour" , not giving you any choice on whether you want all of this shet for the sake of 1/2 minute longer battery life...
Fk this shet ! I bought this phone only few months ago and I'm already over it , utter garbage. I come from 200k antutu phone that throttled heavily for 3/4 years and I feel like this ain't much different at all.
What's the point? Spend 100/200 more dollars buy phone that has 144hz screen and 720hz touch polling all the time... No need to play nanny 24/7 and just enjoy the phone
Or buy apple as it doesn't suffer from any such throttles from what ik...

The greatest Android and MIUI fan ever!!! LOL

If majority of people doesn't notice an issue, IT'S NOT AN GENERAL ISSUE. There is no smartphone manufacturer that is willing to put a defective model on the market, except maybe for Samsung or Apple(which they did). Samsung smartphone market share in China is under 1%. Basically they do not exist there because of battery explosion handling. Read Samsung and Apple threads and you will see they too have this kind of issues and, just like you, people give them shet about these issues.
For me the Iphone experience it's like being on a eye candy prison. It looks and feels nice but there are alot of software limitations. If you don't care to change anything much beside wallpaper and ringtones on your phone, Apple is great. BUT you pay a premium for accessories, you pay a premium for screen protectors and cases. You can forget about changing screens, those will set you back half of the initial iphone price.
A 300 usd phone with 6.67 inch 120hz OLED screen for me is a better experience than a 700 usd 6.1 inch, 60 Hz OLED any day.
There is a client base for Apple and there is a client base for Xiaomi and others. Everyone can choose for himself. Some like Ultra/Max phones , some cheap, some in between. Don't bash people for their choises. You don't like a product, change it...

So i'm not the only one who are searching a MIUI alternative.
I've made a search on the web but nothing for the moment.
Same here, found, that MIUI isn't my cup of coffee...
So we will see...
Sent from my HM 1SW using XDA Free mobile app
The problem is the MIUI community.
They're sweet but... we can't talk about anything else except MIUI so it will be good if we can regroup a few users here to maybe interest some devs.
PS : I'm sorry for my poor english.
Also interested in this, I have got no developing experience, but I am willing to beta test, who knows maybe one day ill teach myself and cook a rom for it.

Same. But if I can do anything to help I'll do my best.
As far as I have been able to find out, no sources are out = no AOSP roms for us, unless we write everything from scratch
MIUI Developers never release sources code = No custom rom, that's reason why we don't have MIUI custom on XDA.
-XDA has most skilled developers.
-If you take closer look MIUI it combines all Samsung IOS HTC and some custom Mods from XDA developers into one without permissions. It's Chinese Way, i have no comment on this.
Really exist one Cyanogenmod on Xiaomi Mi2/Mi2S... http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=16834&highlight=cyanogenmod
But in Redmi 1S right now nothing of nothing ...
facepalm for me... Miui sucks everywhere....
We just need to wait a bit...
And I guess this Cyanogen can't be used on 1S because of Qualcomm processor...
Can u guys help?
IMO, Xiaomi has pretty good hardware packed inside, but this same happened when i thought of buying Mi 3.
But i have 1 question though. I am planning to by REDMI 1S for my dad, can u help me to choose or reject this phone?
PS - He's a total novice when it comes to smartphones. request you to give your opinion accordingly.
Hi,
The MIUI interface is really easy to use.
The only negative point is the 4G unsupported in the Redmi 1S.
So I guess you can buy it, it's a really good product for the price.

Hi guys, i wanna ask. I'm planning to buy this phone in near months when it launches in my country. However, despite all the great stuff found on this phone - like its processor, GPU, sharp display, amazing cameras, etc - there are many complaints about its battery life and gaming performance - with games like Asphalt 8 running laggy in full graphics. I know that the custom ROM of stock Android for this phone hasn't come out yet until new given that it's a new phone, but i wanna know is there any way to improve its battery life and gaming performance.
I heard that MIUI of this phone consumes a lot of RAM and only leaves around 200MB of RAM. Does this phone allow users to deactivate the pre-loaded apps in order to free some RAM, thus making its battery last longer and performance much faster especially for gaming?
Please, answer my question guys. I'm in desperate for answers here because Xiaomi is about to launch its phones in my country soon and i don't want to be left behind in purchasing this phone given Xiaomi's flash sales.

Yes, i know that. But i heard that even moto e or moto g can last about 6 hours for intensive gaming without resting the screen. So i think xiaomi should be similar in term of battery life wite moto phones given their similar specs.

What should I know before buying this device?

Hi all, I do not really care about 4G.
This might be my next phone so I'd like what is intersting to know when you use the phone.
I already know about the not so good camera, the noise when recording and the youtube sound bug. Have the owners on reddit something else to prevent me about?
I am also considering Huawei Nova (not plus) and Redmi Note 4x. If someone have tested many of those 3 devices and can give me advice.
Thanks in advance

Hi, the sound sync bug is barely noticeable on my unit, the delay is minimal, I have the UK version with S056 stock rom out of the box. The 4/64 version of Redmi Note 4X is still not available and the Nova is only 5" with significantly smaller battery and also only 3gb ram. I have the 4/32 version of P2a42 and I can't be more happy with the device. The build quality is superb, the display is gorgeous, the rom is 99% stock Android 6.0.1, the cpu is super snappy, only the high end games like NFS No Limits, Modern Combat 5 and GTA are not running smooth on full details. And here comes the battery, the battery life is amazing. Right now I'm on 54%, this is my 3rd day on a single charge and I already have 6h25m screen on time with 2h of heavy online gaming with games like NFS No limits, 5v5 moba games like Mobile Legends, Heroes Evolved and so on. The math shows that I'll end up with more than 12h SOT and using the phone without charging for a full 4 days, if no gaming and only 2-3 usage 14-15h SOT are not a problem for this phone.
I highly recommend it and currently for me Lenovo P2 is the best balanced phone between performance, battery, build quality and reliability under $300.

P2 - Worth buying?

I have some questions plz answer these -
1. Does it have 2.5 D glass
2. How good is the display i.e. are blacks deep like Samsung phones considering it has an amoled display
3. How is the build quality?Had any scratches
4. How good is development for this phone ,I mean I have Mi4 and still is well developed Can I expect these to be developed for at least 2 - 3 years.
5.Is camera that bad ?
1. No.
2. IMO yes.
3. Superb. No wiggle room anywhere.
4. TBH quite bad at the moment compared to other devices. It seems like progress is being made although very slowly. The stock ROM is decent enough to warrant using it in the meantime though.
5. It's bad. God... So bad.
The display is amazing, i didn't want to purchase another Amoled screen ever again since the Samsung Galaxy Nexus but this phone is worth it.
Even though the build is great with an all metal build.. you should still get a case and screen protector to keep it shiny.
I'm sure development will get much better, there is no rush. After reading around the forums it seems the Roms are usable.. but hey.. it is a lot better than the Dev for the Zenfone Max. They have troubles with no offline charging and phone doesn't turn on when battery reach 0%, so users have to keep it above 5% in order to not semi brick it. This device don't have those bugs.. so that's good.
Also another good thing is that they have numerous Roms and am glad that they update the Lineage 13 Roms too, but Stock Rom is just as fine.
Until Lenovo fully stops updating soon; probably by September 2018.. using Custom Roms would be ideal to update when it happens. That would be my suggestion.

But I think Redmi note 4 which retails as same price has many more developers and roms and much more engagement.Thats why I am a little worried to buy this. Here I saw just 2 developers doing all the work.I respect their work. But still we are here lacking kernels etc.

From a technical perspective it seems like a great device indeed. But you are correct. Moto & Redmi (I guess Huawei too) are more widely-spread. However (speaking for me and the local market) compared to the best available version of Moto G5, this phone has slightly better technical specifications (+1gb ram) for the same price.
Dude, I really hope, that I will enjoy this phone as much as my old G2 and my ancient Galaxy S. :fingers-crossed:

Why Redmi 5 Plus is my last Xiaomi phone ever ?

After having 3 Redmi phones i think i finally have enough.
Once i had Redmi 3S, Redmi 4X, then Redmi 5 Plus. I don't think i will buy a new one and here's why.
1) Well, they had great specs for their price, but they compromise durability by using cheap, weak and low-series aluminum to make their phones. That's why Mi5 and Redmi Note 3 failed Jerry's durability test. Basically, these are one drop phones. Europe is used to durable phones like Nokia, LG or Sony.
2) Software. My Redmi 3s had MIUI 7 out of the box, so i disabled some google poop i don't use and then updated to MIUI 8, unexpectedly bricking my phone for next 3 days until i was allowed to unlocked the bootloader, which was necessary to re-flash the device. MIUI 8 was great, had alot of features and MIUI 9 made things faster, but... My annoyance level is similar to dealing with Meizu phones. Some themes make unwanted changes to my home screen layout. Messenger notifications are quiet, just silent pop sound instead of normal messenger sound when screen is locked and off. On Redmi 5 Plus i had YouTube issue, where video as well as whole UI was freezing sometimes. This was ridiculous.
3) Ads ! Ads everywhere ! They started pop up in system apps such as Music, Videos , Themes and Settings after MIUI 9 update. Xiaomi, are you serious ? That is definitely unacceptable.
4) After MIUI 9.5 update themes app disappeard from my phone. To restore it, i had to change region to United States.
I switched back to Windows Phone.

I don't have any problem with YouTube
Also not have those ads on system apps. Maybe it's something from 3rd party app...
About themes app is something about new laws on European Union. Not have to keep region changed. Change to download and apply theme and then change it back to your country.
Actually, the Redmi 5 plus passed the bend test. Also I don't see any ads on mine, maybe you have the china version?
I do not see any of those issues as well. Also, if you have a problem with MIUI, you can always count on the great community and install an AOSP rom. It is your choice how you use your phone.

The first thing to do with a Xiaomi device is to replace miui with a more sensible ROM.
Miui is cool. I have R5+ with xiaomi.eu rom, rooted with adaway app, and it's without any of these things.
Just read dude, it's not complicated to setup phone.
Other roms are also good choice, why not.
Only semi valid point is one, it's a freaking $ 150 dollars phone, so come on...
2. It's your fault for not learning to use settings properly, none of these problems are problems per se. Just you not getting used to your phone.
3. There are like 2apps that put ads on the system apps, and totally removable, even from the settings
4. Really? You just posted the solution to that problem.
lmao so instead of embracing the value Xiaomi devices and understand compromises you move over to an officially dead phone OS?
Redmi Note 5 is my first Xiaomi phone, and i can say that my next phone will 100% be Xiaomi again, why ? Because i had a Sony phone which i dropped from half a meter and the whole screen came out, couldn't be rooted and nobody bothered to make good roms for it. My note 5 has been dropped 3-4 times on hard cement, just the plastic part got scuffed. I haven't seen an AD during my use with stock MIUI , haven't had any freezes and i could give a rats booty about the theme app.
And now even we have got SOC 710 at 18000 price mi8se :fingers-crossed: :silly: which is seriously awsome :*)
You can deactivate the ads of the system in his settings on apps and system. Look tutorials in Xiaomi officcial forums.

Vince is perfectly okay for the price. The problems he is experiencing are mainly with miui. Yes, the components are cheap - but you get what you paid for. For me, it is a brilliant phone. And so is mido. You just need to adjust your expectations. There is no point in having a champagne taste on a coca cola budget.

thats what i do, always
before buying a phone instead checking its review i just come on xda and see how good is development. and thats enough for me to make a decision.

Yes, that is the way to do it.
Redmi Note 3SD, Redmi Note 4X, and now Redmi 5 Plus. Just awesome devices for the price! No problem whatsoever!
I think one of the main reasons I bought a xiaomi phone was to get a very decently specced phone at budget prices, unlock the bootloader of a xiaomi phone > install a custom rom > get a phone that's miles better than the competition at the same price range

Also this, I also check if the phone has a snapdragon processor which increases the chances of getting more development done in the form of custom roms.

Yep. You don't want to go with the "other" SoC that Xiaomi often uses. I had about 5 different Xiaomi phones with that SoC, and their custom ROM support sucks big time (mainly due to lack of kernel sources).

Question Which ROM to replace?

I think until now, everyone that has received the F3 and use it for at least a couple days to weeks will agree with me that this phone is a joke. The hardware pretty much top tier, and this is the reason we buy it. However, the software is a real piece of crap. I have never used a phone with so many "irritating features" like this one: weak vibration, weird proximity sensor, brightness-dimming is just not working properly, notification error, and the list goes on...
I do not know if POCO will work on fixing anything anything in the near future, or if they care about this at all (correct me if the company speaks or addresses about any of the issues). In my opinion this is not a cheap ass phone (I paid around $400), therefore it should be finished better, not negligently like what we experience.
So back to the question which ROM is a good replacement for the MIUI 12 (I'm on 12.0.3 global) until let's say (if) MIUI 13 fixes some problems. I feel like this phone brought me back to the old days when I had to install custom ROM to escape the mediocre default one.

HOS is not open source and has been banned from XDA. Part of this is due to the rude developer in charge of it. Personally I recommend Havoc OS (however I'm biased having built it and shared it). However, crdroid, pixel extended and pixel experience are all good.

Not yet. However I'm planning on adding it in the next release. I'm currently using this one: https://1-dontsharethislink.celsoazevedo.com/file/filesc/MGC_8.1.101_A9_GVw_snap_libs.apk and it's fine (It's by BSG)
