Bad Signal with A11 on OP3T (CrDroid7) - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
Im running out of ideas for my signal issue.
So the situation is as follows:
I have an OP3 and just got hands on an OP3T. Because my old OP3 was gathering dust behind the camera lens and the mic didnt work from time to time, I wanted to switch to the OP3T.
I rooted it, just like my OP3, and flashed CrDroid 7.x on it, including gapps and so on. So far so good.
Everything was working fine, but then I started to notice, that my mobile network signal was sometimes really bad. Even in places I had good reception with the OP3 (LTE right away), the OP3T was struggeling to keep up the Edge network signal and internet was really slow.
I already flashed the 9.0.6 fw, tried to reset the APNs, flashed different ROMs, Android10 or Android11...nothing seems to do the trick.
Have you got any more suggestions, how to fix this? I also compared all mobile network settings between the devices, the setup is the same.
But when Im at work, the OP3 receives LTE, but the OP3T doesnt....
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
EDIT1: I live in germany and use Vodafone btw....

What version of op3T did you buy? A3000, A3010 or A3003? Maybe it has to do with the radio being your opT3 the Chinese or American model.

It's a A3003 bought in germany...that shouldn't be the issue, I think

Problems with the Mi Max?

Hi, I'm thinking about getting the Mi Max and I'm hoping you would be able to answer some of my questions.
1. I heard there are some connectivity issues.
2. Does is have gorilla glass 3 or 4?
3. Does it bend?
4. Is the build quality good?
5. How durable is it?
Are the any more issues that are not listed on here?
Cheers,
Jeff
What exactly do you mean by "Does it bend"? Is there any phone that does that by design? How can a phone made of metal possibly bend & still work? If I'm reading this right, you need a belt pouch for this phone, if thats what you are asking. Keeping this phone in the pocket is not a great idea. Although I dint find any difficulty so far except when getting in & out of my jean pockets when inside the car.
I kept reading & hearing about these connectivity issues but never experienced it right from day one. When you get an android phone just do a factory reset, if possible twice.
Read my detailed comparison review over @ http://c.mi.com/in/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=10869&page=1&extra=#pid149561
Forget the gorilla 3/4/5 nonsense. I'd say just get it esp the 64 or 128GB Helium instead of the 32GB Hydrogen.
Its a steal for the performance & battery combo that this phone gives you. Tempered glass is not easily available atleast in India but easily procured online via ebay or aliexpress or gearbest.
The only issue on this phone is VoLTE(works only on MIUI so far) & MIUI itself regardless of whether 7, 8 or 9. So far I found RR5.7.3 to be the most stable & best performer followed by CM13-6.0.1(other than the few reboots i experienced while navigating via Maps/Waze/Here, its pretty stable). VoLTE works only on MIUI which sucks donkeys balls & has too many usability issues & bugs to be a daily driver. Its a great phone all around. I got around the VoLTE issue by using a modem which can route my calls & data via an app & happily use RR5.7.3. If I have to use VoLTE on the phone then I'll put it on sMIUI8 on my Kenzo. MIUI, while it has its good parts & moments, is too ****ty & downright irritating overall to be put on my dear Hydrogen.
P.S. I'm buying a Helium next. Its better to stock up on this phone. Such good hardware is hard to come by. Since Kenzo also has official CM support, its only a matter of time before hydrogen/helium also makes it to the official list. After that its gonna be RR or AICP all the way to never look back again.

Thanks for the reply.
OK. After a few months, I've one more gripe, with the Mi Max, is its sun light visibility which leaves a lot to be desired in bright sunlight even in winter. Ok forget the winter sunglare, even fluorescent light is causing a reflection. I dint notice it at all but after I recieved the Kenzo its become very apparent although not debilitating its hard to miss or not notice or feel the difference in visibility between the kenzo & hydrogen. I still standby my earlier post though. This is the only phone that can blast though the day with almost everything switched on including mild hotspot usage, it'll still get you though the day. Without hotspot you've to slowcharge it either through the night or fastcharge it in the morning. Thats how good this phone's battery backup is. I use navigation everytime i get into the car. So my GPS is always on while travel{navigating} except perhaps when I'm travelling by cab. So Helium is next in the list but only when they release the Global Dev version though.
With the sad demise of sMIUI, Now the only solution/option is xiaomi.eu if you want VoLTE. I want call record & autosync with cloud more than anything. VoLTE is just a bonus. So any Xiaomi phone I unlock ASAP & move to xiaomi.eu or GlobeROM(mi-globe.com) [which is based of xiaomi.eu BTW].

After reading a lot of reviews, there seems to be 2 major issues with the phone!

I badly wanna buy this phone asap but every time I check out some reviews over the internet across various sites, a lot of people have complained about rapid auto shutdowns and volte issues. Although, there are some who have been using this phone since more than 6 months and everything worked fine for them.
Is there any such issues on this phone like these people have mentioned? Cause both would be horrible for me. Shutdowns can be frustrating and if volte doesn't works properly, then Jio would be useless and I rely on it a lot as its my primary carrier!
Please let me know about the known issues of this phone as it would really help me to boost my confidence to buy it. And I literally cant wait to get my hands on it. Using something with a SD 820 would be like a dream come true!
Your opinions would be much appreciated.
Thank you!

So, according to you, the stock rom has issues and custom ones dont is it? I also wanted to ask you something. I heard from some people that we can still get the warranty for Z2 Plus even after flashing custom roms. Is it? And does these custom roms support volte? I need that the most.
What is your final opinion regarding this phone buddy? Is it worth buying?
About the warranty I don't know.
Volte works in my area
Zui OS is still under development
The fone is great for this money you can't get better one. The only thing for my is the glass back.... It's really slipperie... So you Ned to be carefull with the falls

Facing two very annoying issues.
1. The UI is pretty bad. It needs a custom ROM but that will void warranty so think about that.
2. When charging the touch goes bonkers. A slight touch would react very differently like the phone is broken.
I had VOLTE problem once, it left VOLTE band and didn't want to go back. Then after some changes in the APN didn't happen again.

Every Indian ROM should, I don't intend to unlock the bootloader until the warranty expires. I have a hunch that it will need to see the service center quite a few times. First and last LENOVO phone I would ever spent. Though having a Lenovo laptop I knew about Lenovo quality but couldn't resist the discount now the return window is closed too, regrets.

I don't know who told you that?
I had a lot of android phones since original Samsung Galaxy, LG, Sony, HTC, Amazon phone, Nexus 4-5...
So I find ZUI (China version 2.5.334 ST) snappy and one of the most stable ROMs I ever used...
About the issues, since there is no top developers involved in ROM development for ZUK 2 it seems to me that after unlocking bootloader and messing with various versions of ROMs even flashing India ROM on China based ZUK can cause some serious issues...
It is your call whether to buy or not...only thing I don't like is mediocre brightness of the display...
ZUI is the worst ROM I have ever seen. Period.

As a owner of the XT1797 .. I have noticed issues with 4G / 3G with poor signal with dual or single sim inside the phone this seems to be a common problem with this G5S series after doing some research via google .. am also hoping with Android Oreo they may have solved this problem by then .. overall nice phone i like it a lot .. but can''t really open the phone yet due to being so new on the market and just now i have the bootloader is open and am waiting for developers to start making mods .
Owner of xt1797 here too... It has Lte Cat.4, so maximum download speed is 150Mbps and 50Mbps for upload. Tested on both my iPhone6s and this phone, getting 85Mbps download on my 6s but only 35Mbps on this phone... Wondering why...

WHY is it that only OUr Xiaomi phone has no native Roms?

All the other XIaomi phones from last year , including the ones with the same ram , storage and processors as ours have roms.
Is it that we just dont have the developers?
The mi max3 is soo similar to the other phones and even its predecessor.
I am baffled as to why we have to struggle with unreliable treble roms.
Just venting, but im sure 90% feel the same.
Almost all the GSI roms are stuck on Oreo and installing them is an iffy process
im trying to follow the guides, but i cant even get one of the trebble roms to success fully boot. ive got the 6gb/128gb variant. pffffff. ill have to sell it and try to upgrade to a mi mix3 in time

Maybe because access to other devices has been easier. I know that some manufacturers even offer some devices for this purpose, which should not be the case of the Mi Max 3. In particular, I bought this device by the screen and battery, and I am accustomed to little development, because my previous device was a Huawei (that I use until today), which I was able to install a version of the lineage, where the camera did not work. It may also be that mm3 is not as attractive as the others for development. The way to learn is to develop or hope to help.
I'm also a little bit disappointed by the lack of custom roms for the MiMax3, but i bought it for looking prime and netflix when i'm abroad. So the big screen and the battery is enought for me. And for flashing i have my Poco
First: Stuck on Oreo?
You don't know what you are talking about.
Most decent ROMs have a proper Pie vendor build by now.
Unstable and buggy?:
Stick to the stable ones (AOSP, PE, AOSiP, Descendant, etc) and always run on a patched Pie vendor.
Use my latest fix bundle and you'll have no bugs.
You'll even have VoLTE no working.
I had the Mi Max 1, then the 2, which the day I first used it, I crashed the screen. The Mi max 3 had just been launched, so I bought it.
After two months of not getting any ROMs I decided to buy another Mi Max 2, which I totally love. Development is really good.
I keep my Mi Max 3 until development gets better and we can have more options, cause hardware is obviously better than the 2.
I will never buy a newly released phone or one that gets little development.
The thing I don't understand is: Why is everyone so obsessed with device specific ROMs?
You can install GSIs right now... Install my Max 3 fix patch on top and you'll have a flawless experience, no different to any other ROM you'll find out there.
That's (kind of) the whole point of treble to begin with!
Be able to build ROMs without the whole device specific crap...

There is just one or two things that don't work as it should with the gsi treble roms compared to xiaomi.eu
1.GPS, unable to get a lock..always hovering around 3 or 4 satellites with bad signal
2.viper4android not detecting the correct device, sometimes it does and sometimes not...not a big issue but to me it is annoying
Device specific roms would probably have these things working without issues.
Of course in the future there might be a bright minded who can fix this on the gsi roms and either get the dev to implement them in the treble system.img or provide instructions how to patch them.
But that's just my argument why it "could" in theory be better with a device specific rom for this device

I'm sure it has gotten better but a few months back I was driving and came into a car accident and needed to take an alternative route so I would not sit there the whole night and it was snowing and pitch dark and the further up the mountain I drove and had to rely on my memory to know where I was, it was the only way around the highway that was closed off as the gps lost signal time after time.
I have also lived around this mountain area and it is a spot for radio silence.
Ham-radio has difficulties working here and only a few types of big antennas work properly
Calling with your cellphone don't work with most providers
The gps lost signal time after time on havoc while sitting at home testing several reflashes and updating the arb-less fw and xiaomi.eu I could not get a lock indoors or outdoors.
I also live in a cement building so it shields me, so of course the signal might be affected by that.
Because of that I have to use large 17db wifi antennas to be able to penetrate the walls.
Then I flashed the xiaomi.eu released after chinese new year holiday and imminently I got a lock on tons of satellites when sitting indoors.
Of course If I drive far away from any building the signal gets better for gps, but the difference between havoc and xiaomi.eu was significant enough for me to abandon it.
I need gps to work reliably in events such as this and I don't have time to play around with the phone
Your case sounds extremely special but in my case I notice absolutely no difference in GPS.
I believe it's because of the anti-roll back

Yep,, I bought one from giztop. No problems at all but, I'm on ee. Not sure what network ur on but the 128gb version doesn't have band 20, so if ur maybe o2, that could be an issue.. No problems at all with the phone, loving it. Had WW Rom installed, but still needed to change fingerprint to WW to be able to update

I have both 7 pro and rog2 (tencent, ww rom).
Oneplus 7 pro pros :
- better screen quality, the colors are more vibrant, but lower max brightness than ROG2.
- software is better, updates in a timely manner, it's on Android10 already and in general they seem to offer much better support than Asus (remember, ROG1 is still on Android8 with no plans for any updates)
- smaller, lighter
- telephoto camera, better overall photo quality in my opinion
ROG2 pros:
- 120Hz screen offers a super smooth experience
- THAT battery
- auto brightness works
- 3.5mm headphone jack with good audio quality, also pretty good amplification
- flat screen
- notification led
- stereo speakers done right
- ultra wide lens is wider than on 7 pro (or any phone I know) at 11mm, although the quality is so-so.
Hope this helps...

Sure it can, but gcam cannot substitute OIS that rog2 lacks on both lens for example. Saying that, I admit although I installed and took a couple of photos with gcam, I'm still far from having any conclusion.
Again, the 7 pro is not a camera phone marvel, but I find it to be a little better/flexible than the rog2 in the camera department (having OIS and telephoto lens also helps). Also, OnePlus made some real steps in making the camera better via software updates since 7 pro launched. Asus on the other hand, is not known for being eager to fix things or keeping the phone up-to-date in the software department and that's what worries me most regarding rog2.
I've just got a Tencent version delivered now in the UK for me, I'm on virgin mobile (virtual network on EE) and I cannot get 4G signal, only HSPA+. My Oneplus5 gets 4G+ here and about 45mbit speeds.
My Asus ROG2 came already with WW firmware, but I'm not sure if it is just the band 20 missing that is the issue. I was expecting at least a tiny bit of 4G, but so far I've got no 4G signal at all.

I'm not sure if my phone was "warming up" but it managed to get 4G a bit later even though it was on my desk exactly at the same position when it was on HSPA for a while. I'm getting 4G+ at speed test here that was around 30-40mbits on my oneplus 5 went to 60mbit on the asus rog 2.
I'll take it out tomorrow on the road to see how it goes
I believe this 4g reception issue is only valid with the 128GB version right? 512GB version with 12GB ram should have all the 4G bands in the UK?
