Instructions if you coming from a different rom (including MIUI):
- Boot latest twrp from @vasishath ( fastboot boot path/to/twrp.img )
- Flash descendant
- Reboot to recovery
- Format Data (not wipe, not factory reset)
- Reboot to system
Instructions if you coming from a descendant version (aka update)
- Boot to TWRP recovery
- Flash latest descendant release
- Reboot to system
NOTE: Everytime you flash descendant on any case (clean flash/dirty flash) you must leave the option where it says "Inject TWRP after flashing" on.
The only case you should disable that option/toggle is when you want to flash magisk.
Descendant has been tested with both 12.0.x & 12.5.x firmware versions and runs without any issues
Listing all the additions would be a huge wall of text, that you wouldn't even read.
So, head over the Telegram group and feel free to lurk.

Beware: the installer will automatically attempt installation into your inactive partition -- without warning.
1st install attempt: went seemingly well -- reboot -- stuck at blue 'd' logo (waited 15+ mins).
2nd install attempt: went seemingly well -- reboot -- stuck at blue 'd' logo (waited 15+ mins).
Notes: I also tried the usual wiping prior to flashing -- no success.
Conclusion: couldn't get it installed.
Installed from TWRP[1].

Thanks! Ended up installing fine.
Things I would change:
1. Remove the COVID bloatware.
2. Add advanced reboot options.
3. Add double-tap statusbar (or home button) to sleep.
Bugs:
1. Echo on VoIP calls. Unusable.
2. (USB) PTP and File transfer both not working on PC.
Besides that, ROM is fluid.
edit: uncertain about #2 -- could be my Windows. It does that.

This rom is very beautiful rounded and fluid
And hv Good battery life
Also good haptics
At the first boot had few system ui crashes but overall pretty good rom.
minor bug
4k video recording crashed the gcam (tried in various gcams maybe issue with gcam or rom)

Installed as per the instructions given. Everything went fine. But for some reason I am not able to play prime video in HD 1080p. Widewine is L1 but still I wasn't able to play HD videos. And also the rom is pretty much aosp. Very few customization. Anyway thanx for this ROM.

this is very weird, i don't have a netflix/amazon account so i cant test that but you should since L1 is there be able to play hd content, try cleaning the apps data/cache and try again, especially with netflix this is needed sometimes.
Yes, descendant is focused on UI and on some needed features.
I appreciate that you like the rom and took the effort to give feedback, if you encounter a different bug please attach a log too so i can be a bit more helpful.

how's the call echo on voip calls?

Covid Bloatware? Wtf, really?

Poco F3 / Mi 11X / Redmi K40 (alioth/aliothin) Changelog
- Enabled Live Display
- Fixed random freezes
- Updated to latest Quantic Kernel
Note: This build is dirty flash-able over the previous one, for reference, follow the instructions on the first post.

The download speed of the official website is only 400 kb/s for me, so I download the rom for more than one hour. Could you please give me another way to download this rom. Thank you.

Normally , you will lost your internal data after you flash from miui.
1. you must unlock your phone, the bootloader must be unlocked.
2. use fastboot to flash twrp
3. boot to recovery
4. use cable to copy Rom, magisk, gapp
5. wipe davik cache, system ,data
6. flash the rom, magisk, gapp
7. in wipe page ,format data, type yes to confirm.
8. reboot system , wait for new system.
Hi,
I just tried installing crDroid, since it seems well-maintained, includes signature patching support, and I want to switch to a microg installation. Unfortunately, I end up in a bootloop.
Here’s what I did:
* Boot TWRP 3.4.0-0
* Wipe: Cache, Dalvik, System, Data
* Sideload: fw_dipper_miui_MI8Global_V11.0.5.0.QEAMIXM_86e58a41cd_10.0.zip
* Sideload: crDroidAndroid-10.0-20200801-dipper-v6.8.zip
* Reboot into System
This leads to Mi logo ⇒ crDroid logo ⇒ No change for >5minutes. Upon observing adb logcat, I can see repeating patterns, although I’m not sure where exactly they start to loop, and where the loop ends ….
I deliberately did not flash any Magisk, MinMicroG-Installer or GApps as I wanted to get the bare rom to boot first.
I also tried a older crDroid, namely crDroidAndroid-10.0-20200326-dipper-v6.4.zip — this one boots just fine …
Did I do anything wrong? Before posting a big bad bunch of logcat, I’d love to know if I’m mistaken somewhere rather basic …
… Thanks for all the work you put into this ^_^
Best,
-NebuK
did you flash Dm verity.zip?
Great ROM
Also, battery is good and the user interface is liquid smooth. Regarding that matter THE best ROM out there.
But It's still buggy a little bit for me.
For example the dialer needs to be closed and reopened to properly display information about calls that are just made or just deleted. It doesn't refresh UI automatically.
.zip i attached bellow contains a .mp4 video that describes the dialer UI update problem i'm facing. Also, camera app crashes if you fiddle with its settings and needs the device reboot to be able to use it again.
Hope they fix these tiny problems.
I wiped system and caches, formatted data, flashed V11.0.5.0.QEAMIXM firmware, crDroid, OpenGapps and a disable forced encryption zip. My phone only boots to fastboot. Luckily, I can still boot into TWRP.
Does crDroid not like having encryption disabled, or have I done something else incorrectly?
EDIT: I tried again and it worked when I didn't flash DFE. The Mi8 doesn't like DFE?
Also, swiping down in recent apps doesn't clear the recent apps list, despite it being enabled in the home screen settings (long-press on the home screen-> settings-> miscellaneous).
Hi! Does not pass the Safetynet check. Will this be fixed?
Hey. Can't install version 7. After booting the system, the initial settings do not work. What am I doing wrong?
Smooth Android 11 ROM using Nikgapps.
Is there a way to use face unlock with the MI 8 infrared camera to unlock the phone in the dark? And also the battery bar (crDroid Settings, Status bar) can't be really used because of the device cutout(can't really see it), and it can't be moved.
Otherwise it's a great beta ROM.
Can anyone post MD5 sum of file final release crDroid version 6.12 named "crDroidAndroid-10.0-20201115-dipper-v6.12" please?
I have issues with downloading.
Thank you for your beautiful works!
The bluetooth can be connected to the speaker but there was no sound at all.
A perfect ROM on Android 11.
Thanks developer
NFC is nowhere to be found, not even in search bar, in quick settings it's greyed out so not available, only me?
The Rom is really good my only trouble is signal/reception is poor. Getting no signal in my house whereas normally I'd get minimal 2 or 3 bars.
UPDATE: flashing latest firmware fixed issue.

Does this ROM spam with "System Ul isn't responding" with Magisk like some other ROMs?
Also, has anyone faced problems with Magisk and finance apps on this ROM?
PixelExtended works very well with finance apps and Magisk, but it spams the dialog "System Ul isn't responding". It real starts to get on my nerves and I'm looking for an alternative ROM.
Very good ROM, stable and everything is working.
One note tho to all having problems with reboots or random locks. I've had the same but found out solution.
Before doing clean flash I recommend disabling encryption/pin/fingerprints in your previous OS. DON'T FLASH MAGISK YET. Then after you perform clean flash as described in instruction - reboot straight to system, do the initial config - but DON'T ENABLE ENCRYPTION/PIN just yet.
Let it update/configure itself, wait for like 10 mins, browse some internet, perform soft reboot and unlock. Launch Play Store, install something, close it. Then plug in your charger and let it sit for 30-60mins. This way you will yet your Google Play store and Google Play Services updated to newest version while staying as Certified.
Next download Universal SafetyNet Fix, Magisk manager, then go Airplane mode, reboot to recovery and flash Magisk, don't wipe any caches, soft reboot to system. After launching install Magisk manager, enable MagiskHide, install Universal SafetyNet Fix, soft reboot, disable Airplane mode, check for SafetyNet and you're good to go.
Only this way it works amazing. Everything is super smooth, battery life is great, no issues whatsoever. If I rushed Magisk and encrypted memory at first boot tho, then it had issues. After doing steps above you can encrypt it ofc and SafetyNet is passed.
Thanks for this amazing ROM!
edit: by mistake I posted it here, but I was referring to this one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-11-0-miatoll-pixelexperience-aosp.4245389/
I think tho that it also applies to this ROM. Good job anyways!

sorry again for third replay, as far as camera goes, the pictures are blown out in the preview. Like they appear regular then get blown out, it's like the software correction raises brigthness and contrast way too high.

Hi,
I would like to say a big thank you to
manuelbianco and the Descendant team for this great rom, after trying many other roms, yours stands head and shoulders above the rest.
Like most users, i was searching for a fast, stable and refined rom with the latest security patches,
the Descendant rom nailed it .
I have not found any bugs, but then i don`t use all the bells and whistles that my phone has to offer.
After many dirty flashes of different roms over the Xiaomi.eu A12 rom, i decided to start from a clean install.
Pre-install notes,
With my Bootloader already unlocked,
I copied all the files below, (except Xiaomi.eu V12 rom & TWRP fastboot toolkit) onto a USB memory stick and installed them via a OTG adaptor.
To enter Fastboot mode, hold down the Volume down & power buttons together.
How i installed the rom
1. I started with a clean install of the Xiaomi.eu V12, via Fastboot,
Choosing: windows fastboot first install with data format.Bat,
1a. I installed Xiaomi.eu V12 rom by putting my F3 into Fastboot mode
and running the .bat file above using my PC
2. Reboot the F3 into Fastboot mode and using a PC, install TWRP fastboot toolkit (FIXED)
3. install this Great Rom descendant_alioth-12.0-20211223-0951-RELEASE.zip
4. install OrangeFox recovery,
5. After OFox rebooted into recovery, i installed Magisk-v23.0
Safety net passes without Magisk, if you don`t require Root.
6. in Orangefox, i formatted data, by typing YES and re-booted.
7. after the initial start up and installing all my apps,
i then installed the brilliant Advanced Charging Controller (ACCA) ,
This rom is now my daily driver and for anyone wanting to know how fast this rom is, my AnTuTu score is 709661
Other AnTuTu scores were,
Arrow O/S A12, 679090,
Xiaomi.eu V12-12, 661033,
My Poco F3 is the 8gb/256gb EU version,
many thanks again ,
Johnr64.

one more question about the installation
you should make FORMAT DATA at the beginning....
But after that I have no connection to the PC. How should I now get the FW u the ROM to flash on the phone?

One thing i like especially with this rom compared to the Xiaomi.eu V12 is, i have my Samsung watch activated as a Trusted device and no more lock screen errors,
there are so many nice touches in this rom, it would take me all evening to list them,
just try this rom,
it`s a beast,

That Icon is for NFC, turn it off from setting.
Regarding Pixel Setup - that's the default behaviour, you have to do it twice

switched to this rom after ArrowOS 12.1 (whis is a great rom too).
good experiance so far (3 days) the only issues i witnessed are:
- can't set up notification lights blink lenght and speed, it either doesnt blink or just is on without blinking, like during charge.
- sometimes status bar and expanded QS duplicate battery, date and signal, but it's not critical.
Network settings section crashed a couple of times, but still work overall.
Also do not forget to switch of VoLTE, cause daisy doesn't support it, and you will not receive any calls.
This rom has very good tweaks, you can change number of coloumns in QS, which is best for me.
And if you like new features in A13, this rom is a very good choice, also updates via OTA.
3 days in normal run as a daily driver. hope that helps
Very good ROM, I hope it goes official!
crDroid paste - share logs, bugs, code and whatever else remains in plan text
paste.crdroid.net
Some apps crash on startup, like tiktok.
A similar situation on firmware from other maintainers, based on android 13. I do not advise you to switch to android 13 yet.
Any suggestions?
..are updates still to be expected?
Can we have this with biogenesis kernel?

maybe that could be the reason:

I confirm that deleting the bootanimation.zip file does not fix the bootlooping of the OTA update 2023-01-14
Onto LineageOS 20 UNOFFICIAL it is then...
