Question Redmi Note 9T 5G Issues - Redmi Note 9T

These devices are sometimes a complete mystery to me. I recently bought two Redmi Note 9T devices for my household to take advantage of 5G, which they do beautifully. But here at home 5G is spotty, at best, so 4G LTE is what gets used most.
However, my device frequently goes to LTE+ while my partner's never does, and since I'm the "master configurator" for the house I know that I have never done anything with settings that should have this end result.
I have the same issue as others have reported in that the signal strength falls so substantially when the switch to LTE+ occurs that the hotspot is useless. It always resolves when I reboot the device, and it will stick with LTE for many hours but, eventually, it will always revert to LTE+.
Is there any way to prevent this without using the previously noted app? My phones are not rooted and I really have no desire to root them, as there's no need otherwise.
Both devices are running MIUI Global 12.5.2 over Android 11 with the 2021-05-01 Android security update.
P.S. Sorry for necroposting, but this is one instance where the topic is already perfect, and things do change over time.

Note 10+ 5G - Connecting to 5G looses GPS signal. Known issue by Samsung.

Thought i would post this here.
Here in the UK not all areas have 5G. But if your using your phone as a Sat Nav and pass through an area that has 5G. you may notice you lose GPS signal.
It takes a considerable amount of time to reconnect.
Spoke to Samsung and they are aware of the issue (Although they kept me going through multiple testing processes before admitting and telling me this)

No idea what update will include this fix. It does mean though i will have to lock the device to LTE signal to avoid loss in signal when traveling and using my device as a Satnav!

Yup thank you for sharing.
It is funny that they say "Note10+ 5G" signal is weak when using 5G.
Actually many reported the same with the other 4G devices...
This problem still exists with the T-Mo Note 10 5G that was just released. There was a day one update, but it didn't resolve anything.
T-Mo just pushed an update today that solved my GPS issues. Version N976USQU1ASL7. This should have been available on Day 1.
Never mind, the T-Mobile update didn't fix this. GPS still is nonfunctional in 5G mode. TMobile support is saying it's because the AGPS in the phone doesn't have enough data to triangulate position because there's not enough 5G enabled towers in my area yet and to wait until 2020 when more towers come online.

I quite literally almost pulled the trigger on it now I'm second guessing (again)
Sent from my HD1925 using Tapatalk
I'd wait until the Sprint merger and/or more towers are upgraded to 5G before pulling the trigger on this device. The GPS being borked affects too many other things on the phone.
I have the T-Mobile Note 10 + 5G and I am having no 5G GPS issues. I live in a 5G area and I use it regularly. Please note, I DID have GPS issues. I cleared the DATA for Google Maps in the apps section (not just the cache) and reset the maps app from scratch. That was right after the last update. My issue went away and never returned. I hope this will help you.
By the way, 2 points. First, most T-Mobile personnel are clueless about 5G. I have been speaking to them for weeks. Even Samsung support is iffy. But you could try them if this doesn't resolve your issues.
Second, the Verizon 5G phone and the T-Mobile 5G phone are completely different beasts. People want to compare them but the Verizon is gen 1 and the T-Mobile is gen 2 on 5G chips and they handle the switch between 4G and 5G completely differently. 5G on the Verizon is tacked on to a 4G chipset with the x50 modem while the T-Mobile has the x55 modem which integrates both. Any comparison is coincidence at best. As I said, my 5G phone GPS issues are completely resolved. I hope a reset of the Maps app will resolve yours. Actually, since the last update, ALL my issues seem to be resolved. I am one happy camper and there was a point in time when I was discussing an exchange. But no more.

Exynos Note 10+ 5g with Android 10 update - Tmo Wifi Calling working, no CSC/patch

Anyone else notice that after updating to Android 10, all the necessary Wifi Calling software is just baked in now?
I have the korean SM-N976N , Note 10+ 5g and am on USA T-Mobile. Now, on the Korean Note 8 I had to make a custom CSC patch which included some software from the F variant as well as the U T-mobile variant (as well as delete a Korean feature) to get Wifi Calling working.
However, on this 10+ 5g I haven't had time to root or work on a CSC patch to get WFC, but after updating to Android 10 a few days ago, it is just baked in by default now and works just fine. I did have to go into the Wifi Calling menu and change the preference to Wifi, but it is definitely connected and works great.
Now I'm really not sure rooting is even worthwhile anymore... adblock would be nice and CSC feature customization is also great but... everything just works now (minus phone-app Samsung Pay of course, but rooting wouldn't solve that).
-------------
Anyway - anyone else notice this? Wondering if AT&T WFC will work now as well.
KT- Hey! I ALMOST got a Exynos Note 8 a while back, based on your experiences fixing it for T-mobile. Now I'm seriously considering the Note 10+, because it seems even more US friendly.
There's been some talk about Carrier Aggregation. Has there been any progress? Does it REALLY matter? How slow is "slower" gonna be? Would I notice if I didn't have a US version right next to me?
I'm actually thrilled that the Wifi calling just works now! That becomes a huge issue for me once a year, when I travel to the deep Boonies to see my family.
Also, I'm thinking of getting the F/DS. Would it be better if I track down the N, like I believe you have?
Long time listener, first time caller. Thanks so much!
How has your service been? On my N975F, its been ok. Slow data speeds, and weak signal, have been issues ive been dealing with. Im also using on T-mobile in the US.
What about 5g? Did u managed to get it working? I live in China and technically n976n has to work on n78 band but it doesn't

N920I - Weak 4G. Can no longer make or recieve calls. Possibly a local 3G tower was turned off.

My Galaxy Note 5 SM-N920I purchased December of 2015 can no longer make or receieve calls. My provider is TracFone via the Bring Your Own Phone program. I use their SIM card and it has worked all this time. Until recently the phones features have stopped working. I think they have been disabling the 3G in my area, as everyone is converting to 4G now.
Note 5 is supposed to support 4G but it's definitely been having issues. Text and internet still works. however texts are sometimes delayed on occasion, not always, usually it's fine. Data speed just now was tested at 10 mbps down, 3 mbps up. Signal bars are consistently low, regardless of physical location; inside, outside, other side of town, SIM status shows signal always between -108dBm and -118dBm. This is likely why I cannot make or receive calls, but the question is, why is this happening?
Like I said, I suspect they are shutting down 3G in this area, so the best theory I've been able to come up with is this: perhaps 4G has always sucked on this phone but I never noticed because it would fall back to the good 3G connection. Now that 3G is gone in this area, all I have to use is 4G which is a shoddy connection.
Further research has found in the early days of this phone there were numerous reports of weak/no signal. See these threads:
Fed Up With Terrible Reception
Hey all, I'm kind of venting here and at the same time hoping for some sort of direction because I'm absolutely fed up with my S6. I upgraded roughly a month and a half ago from an S4. My phone usage was below normal for the first week or two as I was busy with a variety of projects. As my...

Hi everyone, so I just got this note 5 N920P last two weeks but I noticed its OS was lollipop...waited for updates for 7.0 but nothing so I went ahead and downloaded Odin with latest firmware from samobile and did it my self, now here the problems start to show first of all this hands free...

One theory was that the 4G antenna they used in the Note 5 / S6 was of poor design. Causing weak signal.
Things I have tried and did not work:
-Contacted TracFone. They confirmed the device is supported and provisioned correctly. They recommended a new SIM card.
-Replaced the SIM card with a brand new one
-Factory reset the device. It's running the stock Android 7.0 Nougat which was the last up to date version available.
-Tinkered with various service menus including *#2263# and *#0011#. Messing about with the LTE band settings didn't change the signal strength ever. Regardless of the LTE band, it stays in that -108 to -118 range, too weak for calling.
What can be done to fix this? Possible ideas:
-Internal antenna replacement, but this seems either expensive to have someone do, or extremely difficult to do oneself. Would it even make a difference? Has anyone tried this?
-Software. Could the issue have been introduced during one of the software updates? Planned obsolescence perhaps? Could we revert to an earlier firmware to potentially resolve this? has anyone tried this?
-Firmware. Could we upgrade the firmware to a later, unsupported version safely? Perhaps the issue was fixd in later Android versions but has not been adressed in older devices that are no longer updated.
I'm the kind of person who likes to use my things until they absolutely die. This Note 5 has been perfectly fine until recently. There is nothing wrong with it. It's still modern, fast, and has a great camera. I would HATE to have to replace a phone for such a stupid reason. Not only is money tight, but it's such a waste when this thing is still perfect apart from this weak 4G signal.
Has anyone else had this issue? Have you resolved it? Any help appreciated. Thank you.
Try a network reset.
Clear sim toolkit data.
Clear system cache.
The access point profile may need updating or maybe the sim?

Question Pixel 6 Pro network keeps dropping randomly

Hi,
I never had any issue with the Pixel 6 Pro so far unlike other users but it all started few months ago when I noticed that the network kept dropping randomly, sometimes I used to get "no service" in an area where I used to get 4G at full speed. I did wait for the July update to solve the issue but it never did. Right now I am on the August update that has been released recently but I see no difference. I cannot do a smooth phone call on my data as the network keeps dropping continually. Sometimes I am on 4G, the second later I am on H. I did think that maybe it was the network I was on, Vodafone at that time, so I switched to EE, here in the UK it is considered to be the best one. Still I am facing the same issue, then I can assume it is the phone. I have tried to follow every guide I have found on the web, but nothing seems to work for me. It is annoying that when you need to get something on the phone I need to wait for the phone to go randomly back on 4G hoping that I will stay on it until I get what I need. I have attached the video that I have recorded where I am in the town centre, where I can easily get 5G but the phone keeps dropping the network.
I use ESIM as well, and I have the same issue with it.
Has anyone had the same issue? How can I solve it? Has anyone tried Android 13 Beta? Does it solve some bugs that we have right now on Android 12?
I am really annoyed because of this issue I am facing right now, I love this phone but I am seriously thinking to sell it due to this bug.
Your browser is not able to display this video.
Of all the stuff people complain about, this is the only problem I have. The signal on this phone is an absolute disgrace. I lose signal where I used to get it on my Droid X back in the day. Not sure how they screwed it up that bad, but they did LOL
Turn off the 4G on the second SIM card. I had the same issue.

In denmark, mine also randomly get the no service and no sim, but it is the imr registration ther fails and i beeing kicked off the celluar network. that is thanks to googles phone are not sold in your country, so you got the finger by google...
I will work with jailbreak and so on, but many apps will stop working,.
For now my pixel 6 pro, are living a sad life in its box, replaced by a oneplus 10 pro, without any of theese issues..
it is a bit sad, the pixel 6 pro is at god phone, but google giving pepole the finger, if you buy the phone somwhere google are not selling it, i dont get it.. it is basic stuff expecting to work, the culluar no mattewr where you buy it.
I have a P6Pro, also on EE in the UK.
I had spotty network performance in the early days, but after jumping to the 13 beta it's worked flawlessly.
Unsure if this is because of A13 or due to EE "doing work in my area" as they're often prone to doing.
I'd speak to EE first, then perhaps speak to Google via the support button in settings - they offered to swap my handset out for me (I didn't swap it out in the end).

When I was on Vodafone I had the same text from them, still after their ' solved ' the network issues, nothing really changed for me. My friend who is on EE in the area as me does not face any problem. I hope that A13 solves the issue. It is not normal that a 800£ phone struggles with the network this much

Yeah I have the same issue as you are reporting, three drops in city on the train on the way to work. Just get the exclamation mark, does not seem to self recover, I go into the SIM and disable it, then enable it again, and it instantly jumps to full 5G signal. I do note that it is more reliable for me when I turn off 5G completely, and just use 4G, then it drops back to 3G but doesn't completely stop.
I think majority of connectivity on this device is crap. WIFI is hit and miss. Bluetooth is atrocious, super slow to connect to some older devices, was fine when the phone first came out with early firmware. Pairing devices is hit and miss and also new pairing.

I do agree with you for the connectivity, it feels like they have picked random parts for the phone just to launch it as soon as they could. The money they spent on advertisement could have been spent better on the hardware.
Do you use dual sim? As I have read, the phone struggles more with two sims

I have only had one SIM acitvated at a time at this stage, was having issues with trying to activate my Samsung smart watch activating 4G, so switched to physical sim, for easier troubleshooting with other mobile devices, maybe physical SIM is worse in this device

Update: the signal improve drastically on the main sim by keeping 2G or 3G on the eSIM but that generates a new problem, the eSIM drops the network on normal phone calls, it is not stable at all, if I call a number it rings after 10-15 seconds. I do not receive calls sometimes. It is just a mess.
Had the same problem, calls droppping or not being able to answer calls.
I had KPN as a physical sim and Simyo as a eSim.
I did resolve the issue, I understand this is not an actual "fix", but thought i'd mention it.
I changed providers from Simyo to Simpel, now I have Simpel as physical and KPN as eSim.
Since then no more problems also the option to turn on wifi calling showed up, so I think the p6p just wasn't playing nice with that specific provider.
I get random total drops of data and voice connection. If I hit Airplane mode on and off, it reconnects. Maybe the phone doesn't switch well between towers? I am on Google Fi.
Between the glitches and the lack of timely updates, and the abysmal battery life, I think this will be my last Pixel phone.
It barely lasts a full day with relatively light use, but if I use Maps and listen to Youtube (screen off) ad take photos in a new town, it dies within 6 hours or less. It has a great camera, but it's not useful for travel, because it dies so quickly.
I am having the same problem with my Google pixel 6 pro and it's been happening since I think the OS 11 certainly 12 and now 13. And I have AT&T service. But I can switch from my home Wi-Fi go outside of my car sit in my car for a while then all of a sudden the little! Comes up near the date of bars on my phone and use it after driving about 10 minutes or so it automatically will reconnect to the cell tower and get data. Sometimes I get well most of the time voicemails that people leave for me I don't get a notification until I reboot my phone. I actually put my phone in my right ear I can hear it loud and clear I switch it over to my left ear and it drops down by about 50% less volume I actually went and had a ear test done and they told me my hearing was perfect in both ears so I don't know what the hell it is with this phone but now I'd spent all this money going to the ear doctor thinking I was going deaf in one ear. Never had this kind of problems with my Note 4
I find in caernarfon I get good phone signal if i go to Bangor Tesco or sports direct in Bangor I get the exclamation point mark in phone signal and can't use it but signal has always been rubbish there I'm on ee

Question Horrible signal connectivity?

Hi all, I just recently bought this pixel 6 pro a few weeks ago and I've been having horrible connection issues. The main one that plagues me is when all of a sudden, for no reason, I lose mobile data connection. I have some bars of signal with the LTE or 5G icon but with an exclamation point in it. Or sometimes it just loses signal randomly like in the screenshot below. Both screenshots were taken minutes apart.
I've noticed this was an issue for most people and have posted about this here, but I haven't seen anyone complain about it recently. Is there a fix for this problem?
Unfortunately for a great manu people, myself included this phone has garbage reception. There is no known fix.
Me to
My troubles began after I updated the phone to A13 enrolling to Beta and then leaving it.
The problem was that the phone will be stuck to H+ all day although weI have good coverage of 4G and 5G in town. Sometimes the connection would just drop and I had to engage flight mode to reset it.
Yesterday I decided that I had enough and did the reset of network settings. Today I have noticed that the problem was solved. Now I have 4g and 5g as in the past. But the problem now is that the Internet just would not work from time to time although it shows full bars. Had to use aeroplane mode again today about 3 times.
It's very annoying to say the least. Had thoughts of changing the phone. Not even speaking about heating issues when on mobile. Horrible.

i agree, terrible signal problems, all time. I`ll try to reset all network settings
for me it`s a disrespect from google to treat all final user like beta tester
Same here. Super slow connection even in areas with towers close by.
Been having this issue ever since I updated to Android 13.
Having only had the phone for 2 weeks, I took it to my provider who said all they can do is return it to Google. With both my eSIM and my physical sim dropping out together, apparently its an RIL problem. They did say that if it's just an issue with one SIM card, replacing it will fix it.
I think this can be solved downgrading to android 12.1 dev you can downgrade to android 12.1 without downgrade bootloader it's safe and don't brick your device because it's a android 12 that runs over android 13 bootloader. Keep in mind that this will erase your data permanently! Do a backup before do it
This has been happening since the phone came out. This is due to the old modem they are using from Samsung. There is no fix.
My coworker has this happen with his 6 Pro, while my 6 is perfect ironically. He has verizon, I got tmobile. He has to leave the store to make a call, but I don't. This has been for the last 6 months though

Had the phone sent away to Google for repairs as the issue ended up happening when I was showing my provider. Got it back and Google said there were "no issues" with it and they couldn't replicate it with either SIM type. Either they put out a hotfix or it magically went away, but I'll see how it goes after using it again.

If you've got another phone (5G compatible), you can try to see if the problem is the phone, or the actual network coverage.
Also, something else you could do is switch to 4G and see if the problem persists.
The thing with 5G is that the coverage is really spotty. That's in general. I don't live in the US, so I don't know what the actual coverage is over there. But that's a general thing with 5G. It cannot penetrate as well as 4G, and even worse than 3G or 2G. When you increase frequency, you lose distance (coverage). So basically 5G needs a lot more repeaters to get proper coverage.
But you could try another phone in the exact same area. Oor..try to switch to 4G and see if the issue still occurs. You could also call the carrier and ask if they have any idea why is this happening.

Same with me. I keep 5G turned off for a couple reasons.
1, battery life.
2. 4G is fast enough for me.
3. Better signal.
