Game optimizing service - thoughts on effects and disabling? - Samsung Galaxy Fold Questions & Answers

So there's a few discussions regarding this package, where it's said that it aggressively throttles performance in order to hit arbitrary temperature and battery life targets. It seems the only way to disable this app is using apps that abuse knox to disable system apps, or use apps that require adb device owner permission.
I went with the former, and in my system apps list where game optimizing service appears normally, once disabled it's disappeared from the list, along with game launcher. So I believe it's working. But I have not done enough long term gaming or testing to know if its working how I expect. I ran a 3d mark wild life stress test before and after disabling and I think the results are more or less within the margin of error, so this leads me to believe that maybe Gos does not view 3d mark as a game and as such doesn't apply to it in the first place. My CPU Temps never showed any difference either.

Anyone have any words of wisdom regarding this?

I keep it disabled. Got tired of it's overlay getting in the way. It doesn't do much for me.
If running it seems to be very low impact. Disabling doesn't hurt game performance for me but literally I have one game loaded.
On a stock Samsung you need a package disabler... especially on a carrier variant.
ADB edits aren't as fluid or usable.
Google remains one of the worst offenders especially Backup Transport, Framework and Firebase. Typically I keep Google play Services and Playstore disabled as well unless needed.

Dev wanted for tablet mode refinements

im looking for a developer with some android background who could help to implement some changes regarding per app dpi as explained here.
what this will do is break free what many have come to call "tablet mode" but this time without blowing the phone to bits. we could have the best of both worlds: tablet UI, tablet apps (gapps, settings, youtube, everything tablet HD & related) and normal apps running in their default layouts. the problem is that google created a hole between tiny phones from 2005 and big tablets. all our phones fall in it. it makes no sense that a nexus for instance runs in 1-column layout, its ridiculous actually for such a huge screen. tablet mode, as it is right now, helps, but it forces non-tablet apps into tiny layouts.
now we've had some success with our manual mod and even some dev's jumped in to adapt their apps, nova for instance is now tablet mode ready. but we just need to dig further. without per app dpi this will only be interesting for a small audience. with the setting in check it will probablby blow over and re-define ICS as we know it.
i managed to compile cm9 and im learning how to deal with it but its so much. a simple grep for stuff takes like an hour because its gigabytes of code. it grows way over my head right now. i think i've found A. the position where the treshold for the tablet switch is implemented which could be lowered and B. how to implement individual DPI but there's stuff missing. anyone who's interested to help or lead us in this, please contact me.
ps. what we'll get will look like this:

}
with that setting it could be like that on all phones, not just high density ones like nexus.

OOS 4.0.1 terrible battery and performance, HELP !!

I have unrooted bootloader locked Oneplus 3, updated to oos 4.0.1 . I have used for 2 full days and 3 charge cycles. have also done multiple cache clearing. have done a full wipe of data from default recovery too.
I had the same problem on the oos 4.0.0 update and had also done a full zip sideload for that version , but to no avail.
please have a look at the screen shots and judge for yourself. also a video of the gaming lag is linked below.(game - modern strike online).

I am not facing these issues but OP3 has a terrible WiFi that's for sure.
Same here, but I was able to solve. Try disable aggressive doze (I already use greenify) and startup app control in "apps". My battery is normal now, I'm on 4.0.1.

Okay. I'll disable agressive doze and app hibernation and try using greenify. Lets see. Thank u.
@tomriddle25 that's not terrible, show me as screenie when your battery hits 15% or below. My experience is that 100-85 drops really quickly and same for 50-0%
Been perfect battery life for me also, using aggressive doze and app hibernation.
An app must be causing your issue. I disabled and uninstalled greenify and my device had been flawless.

Solved-disable packages to stop system updates?

I'd like to disable system updates (I don't want Android 11). I have CCSWE app manager, I'm just not sure which packages to disable to make it stop bugging me about available updates. (I'm saving to root my phone, but in the meantime I want the 'update available' notification to GO AWAY)
afaik it's system/privapp/FotaAgent and system/privapp/SOAgent
I'm not sure which of these 4 did the trick, but once they were all disabled the update notification disappeared.

com.wssyncmidm is the culprit I think.
Auto-updates cause a lot more trouble than malware... malware has cost me less than 1% of wasted time compared to that caused by updates.

I'm having major problems dealing with the bloatware that came on my phone to begin with and now this Android 11 update is the end all for me..
Soooo would really be interested in finding out about this CCSWE app manager that you said you have been using to control it. I just heard a lot of bad things about the regular forms of disabling the bloatware being ineffective in Samsung's latest attack on our privacy. Appreciate any info you got to put me in the right direction, thanks.

Question Problem with some running apps

I am experiencing some problems after receiving the S21 FE, there is an application that I use at the gym that whenever I change the application, when opening a second or third application, this first mentioned application closes.
I've noticed this with other newly opened apps as well. I've already tried changing the app's settings by putting it in priority mode and setting it to multitasking and it doesn't solve it. I've even tried changing the settings of apps running in the background.
I mention this app in particular because it worked perfectly on the Galaxy S20. All my training progress is erased when the app closes and this is really annoying.
Turn off adaptive battery etc.

Is yours One ui 4? Here the options are different. I tested it here by disabling the adaptive battery in the last few days but it is still closing background apps. It's a very annoying thing that I didn't feel on my S20

You have more options but it's the same junk.
Specifically what is it closing? Music? Bluetooth?
Check individual app settings as well.
I don't upgrade my N10+'s because of things like this. They're optimized... too much that can get broken.

Stopping Apps from Deep Sleep

Hi,
I have the following phone:
Samsung Galaxy S20 (SM-G988U1) Ultra 5G (SnapDragon) [Not Rooted]
Android 13 & One UI 5.1
(I run Nova Launcher)
I have both Avast AV and a Notification app that I use and which need to run all the time. For their Battery Usage, I set them both to "Unrestricted" and I did also Disable the "Remove Permissions if App is Unused" setting for both apps.
What's happening is that every time I Reboot my phone, I get a Notification from "Device Care", that says it put the apps to sleep because they were "sending unnecessary notifications and slowing down your phone".
The same thing is happening on my wife's Samsung Galaxy A71 5G phone as well (running same OS & UI as mine), so I know it can't just be my phone. Plus we bought them just a couple of months ago new.
Please help??? I wish to keep my hair in my head!
Thank You!
Dave
Disable global power management.

Developer options>standby apps, when global power management is disabled all bucket states show as active.
Otherwise optimize the phone by dealing with apps on a case by case basis. Limiting data and battery use in the individual app settings doesn't effect global power management. Use Package Disabler or adb edits to kill unneeded apps that are using excessive battery and do not respond to more civilized methods of control.
