Question Can't activate Gboard Google Assistant Voice Typing - Google Pixel 6 Pro

Hey guys, just got my Pixel 6 Pro.
For some reason Gboard has the Google Assistant Voice Typing option greyed out. Any idea on how to fix this?

Maybe you need to turn on Voice Access in Accessibility settings
Actually I have just checked mine and it is available, you must have chosen a setting while setting up the assistant which is blocking it.
Have you updated to the latest build? I see someone has posted this question on the google support forum

Yeah I'm on the latest build. Soo wierd.

I found out how to fix this

I found out how to fix this. I had two languages set in the Google assistant, as soon as I deleted Spanish and just left English the option was activated again

Mine still doesn't work.

I have the same problem and removing the second language thus only leaving English unfortunately didn't fix it for me either.

I had the same problem but a server side update I think is what was needed to actually fix it. I tried to play around with the voice settings like some people had said, but that didn't seem to do anything so that makes me think it was either server-side thing or even a simple update on the app from Google Play because I had a ton updates needed to be done.

Same here. Had two languages (both support the new assistant), deleted the second, only English remaining - still greyed out.

Now I've even tried to just Factory Reset and just allow everything on the next setup.
But guess what, even now the Assistant voice typing is greyed out.

I had English and French in Google Assistant settings. Removed French and rebooted and voila - voice typing enabled. Thanks guys..

I don't have another language in the Google Assistant settings but it still doesn't give me the option to turn on assistant voice typing.

Problem solved. Just go to Google Play and do "update all" for all apps. Follow this thread for details: https://support.google.com/pixelpho...typing-is-greyed-out-in-gboard-settings?hl=en

I solved the problem on my Pixel 6 Pro by doing the following for two apps: Gboard and Google.
- In Settings, force stop the app, then clear its cache
- In Play Store, uninstall updates (by clicking on Uninstall), then Update

Google Now Hotword Detection Disappeared

Note: I have not rebooted to see if that will fix it.
My Google Now Hotword Detection option has vanished and Now no longer responds when I say 'Google'.
I am still set to English (US), but the option is just not there:

You mean... up time? 53hrs right now.
I've always had the hot word option available, even since updating from 4.1 to 4.1.1.
noticed this today. Restart fixed it, I wonder what caused it to disappear though.
I don't have the personalized recognition option though or the Google Account dashboard option :/

Mine just did the same.
So here is what I found, mine on 4.1.2 worked perfectly set to Australian English (yep Im in the US but dont have the accent)
My dashboard had everything, today my Nexus7 updated to 4.2 and it stopped working.
If you set the language back to US English nothing happens.
If you go to Apps->Google search, flush the app data and cache, then start up google now, it will do the first time setup where you can choose to enable it, at this point all of your settings are back as they where.
Switch back to another english and at this point the dashboard Ive always had, with the personalized recognition and the hotword settings all vanish.
Weird that I have had all these settings on Australian English all this time until the update.... :silly:
What I did was to turn on Google Voice in keyboard setting, and then switch the language in Google Now settings (under Voice) to English US (don't worry as I'm not a native speaker and don't have the US accent, too), and it should be working again.
voice search : Settings missing !!
Some of my voice setting are missing ...
I go into Settings - Language and Input - Voice search - and then all settings I have are Language, Speech output , Block offensive word , offline speech recognition , and Bluetooth headset ...
My questions is what happens to the others settings ? ( hotword detection and personalized recognition )
So My nexus is 5 in not always listening and i can not turn hotword detection on and of cause this setting has disappeared :crying:
Does anyone know how to resolve that ?

[Q] My Chrome browser still thinks Wikipedia app is installed

I have installed the Wikipedia app, did not like it, and uninstalled it.
Now when I do searches on Google, the results are presented to me with a link to be read in the app, as if I still had the app.
How do I get rid of this behavior? Here is an example (found online). The link in red is supposed to open the Wikipedia app to the appropriate page; on my device I just get redirected to the Play store to download the app (which I find immensely annoying).

I think you are asking how to change the default app for a specific file type. Try this http://www.guidingtech.com/13517/change-default-program-android-file-type-open/. I think Astro file manager can also do it

Hi... yes that solved it.... I of course knew about file type open default, but somehow this did not come to my mind specifically for Google search results. But in reality it's the same mechanism that is used by Google and Chrome.
Thanks for refreshing my mind! :good:
Hi,
I have the same problem but I didn't get your solution. Which app should I "reset" default? I tried chrome and google search, but it doesn't work. Apparently there is no wikipedia since I've uninstalled it..
Thank you.

Exact same problem with my Nexus 4.
I'm having a similar issue, except I don't want to stop using the Wikipedia app. Both Chrome and Google Search will not open Wikipedia app links as displayed in OP's image. Touching the link does nothing. Attempting to correct the issue, I reset defaults for Chrome and Google Search, which did not help. The 'reset defaults' option for Wikipedia is greyed out, so I uninstalled the app. Google Search and Chrome Wiki links still claim the app is installed, and touching these links does nothing.

I don't get the fix. Which app did you clear defaults for? I've resorted to using Firefox for the meantime, but I don't want to forever. I like chrome.
Please advise which app to clear defaults for.
If you search for Wikipedia on the Play Store website, you will see that it says that the app is installed. The same goes for every other app that you've ever installed. I think that may be the real problem.

I chose the Google keyboard as my default. No problem. Now on every reboot I get this message. Switching back to LG keyboard the issues goes away.
Looking for help how to solve this.
Few notes
* this happened prior to me rooting
* I've disabled several bloat apps from LG and ATT using the built in disable method, did not freeze or delete any apps
* I don't want another keyboard. I like Google's.
* All Google services and apps are up to date
* ATT D850 10d
Happened to me also, and always after I rooted. It has however stopped recently and I have absolutely no idea why. There is many many theories on it. But it's a mystery.
Google keyboard apparently causes it. But I use it still and it's gone. So God only knows. Sorry I can't help you, but I understand the annoyance of it.
I know that the G3 is picky when talking about keyboard. It does the same thing with me when i use swiftkey, so i believe it's a bug from the way lg implements their keyboard. Despite giving that error there aren't any real consequences (as far as i can see) in normal operations, just an annoyance every time we turn the phone on.
Google Keyboard is causing it on my G3 as well. If I switch your default input method back to the LG Keyboard, the error stops appearing. Googling reveals SwiftKey also causes this issue. The error itself is harmless - the keyboard itself works perfectly fine.
I saw a fix online about re-enabling any Google apps you've disabled. That did the trick for me. Good luck!
Sent from my LG G3 using Tapatalk
Fleksy Keyboard Also!
Fleksy seems to also cause this problem to occur. As others have stated the only way to get the error not to occur on start is to boot with the LG keyboard as the default input device. However I prefer Fleksy to LG's keyboard. I have tried many of the work arounds suggested in several threads and the only one that makes the problem go away, is to have use the LG default keyboard...
got it !
I am also facing the same problem after rooting my phone when i reboot the device it shows my normal keyboard even in appdrawer android keyboard is not showing however it is showing in app manager. Then i notice that i have moved the keyboard on sd card. then I had moved it to phone back and after every thing is working fine.So just check it out that if you have also moved it to sd card. Good Luck:good:
and sorry for my bad english

Open Beta 20 Got Rid of Google Assistant

Saying OK, Google opens Voice Search and tapping on google assistant icon opens up Google Search.
What I have tried:
Clearing data and cache for both Google App and Google Services App
Going back to previous versions of Google and Google Services Then updating them
and that's about it
Here's some screenshots:

Works find here
I have been having this problem for quite a while now. I'm using a rooted stock version with TWRP, Nova launcher. Always get the "can't reach Google at this moment" message.
Like it sucks. I tried literally everything. The beta is fine everywhere else, but the missing google assistant.
I've been having all kinds of issues with Assistant as well. I asked it to "navigate to Michaels craft store" and it just kept asking which Michael from my contacts I wanted to navigate to over and over and over. Kept glitching out till I rebooted and now it only loads the search widget lol.

works here i tried to upload a screen record but wont upload.
Have you guys figured this out at all? I don't understand why no one else is having these issues? It's persisted through all Open Betas thus far. Look at my screenshot. This is the screen I get when I use the assistant shortcut app. It will kind of work if I do say Ok Google but then it just bugs out in all future searches. This is maddening.
Had the problem also in stable. Switched to Beta (clean install) to get rid of it and try out pie, but still the same.
I found out a solution myself
Go to "Phone Settings"
Select "Buttons & Gestures"
Enable toggle for "Quick activate the assistant app"
Go back to home screen and hold the power button for less than a second
This will enable Google Assistant app and you will get the welcome screen
Click "Get started" on the bottom and click the "Agree" button to activate and select the features on next screen
This will solve all the issues. Now you can go back to "Google" app and go to the 2nd tab named "updates"
Don't forget to press the "THANKS" button on this post

Question Language transcription =! english how add another language

hi,
i am testing the audio record app, and transcription only works if you record a voice speaking in english.
any idea how add another language?
thx for helping
You need to
1. Open Live Transcribe & Sound Notifications (app)
2. Press on settings (lower left corner, next to the keyboard symbol)
3. More Settings
4. Scroll down to the section Audio & language and there you can add/change Primary language and Secondary language.
Be aware though that - as far as I remember - the recorder app only supports English and since the release of A12 also Japanse, French and German. So if you want another language to function, it won't do.
Edit: I checked and yep, those are the only supported languages.

thxx a lot, but due to translation i guess, i dont find the app you call live transcrive, could you post an icon?
thxx a lot for your time
That was a typing error, sorry, it's Transcribe, with a B and not with a v.
this is what i get, the green or blue one?
The symbol should look like this
You should be able to find it under Accessibility, my rusty french says it should resemble something like Accessibilité
ohhh that s interesting.
i don t see the icon in app list, so i went to play store for download it and i had the "open" action button, so it means it s somewhere.
amazing how it works even in french, but i can t find the icon anywhere for add it to my home screen, weird.
thanks for your time

That's ridiculous, why would they hide a useful app like this from search
My setup is not "clean", meaning I copied everything over from my Old P4 XL that had this transcribe app - that is why I'm not sure if I maybe actually enabled that by hand previously and just don't remember that.
Would be nice to know if someone here that made a "clean" setup without previous stuff could offer insight into his experience.
