Question How to disable Alt shortcut on bluetooth keyboard or change layout? - Xiaomi Mi Pad 5

Hi, I am happy with my Xiaomi Pad 5 so far, but I can't type special characters on bluetooth keyboard like ą or ł that requires to hold Ctrl + L Alt or R Alt. Does anyone found a fix for that issue? My device have Global ROM.

[Q] [Q/A][PRO]CM9.0.0-RC2 and HW keyboard problem

Good day!
I've flashed my MK16i with CM9 9.0.0-RC2 a couple of days ago. I'm really impressed with system speed and performance over stock SE ICS ROM (.587), but one thing is really disappointing me. I'm using qwerty/cyrillic layout of my keyboard and I have a problem with HW keyboard "Fn" key (blue square). When keyboard language is set to Russian all hw keys are working perfectly displaying correct symbols with or without Fn key pressed. When I switch language to English Fn key fails to operate. I can't type any of auxiliary symbols (brackets, dashes and numbers). All other keys work perfectly displaying what they have to display.
Is there any workaround of this bug? It is quite bothering to switch language every time you need to type a number or a dash
Thanks in advance.
hey, i think you should ask this question in the developer forum or directly in the CM 9 thread

[Q] ¨Right click¨ with bluetooth keyboard?

Hello,
I am using rii bluetooth keyboard on my note 2 and I cannot find two functions, how to opet menu (the left soft key function) and also the Home button function. If someone can help, please do. Thank you.
not all keyboards support all android buttons(menu/home/back/search)
using external keyboard pro it is possible to remap an existing key to one of those functions.
Ok, thx, i will try that. I was hoping that there was some kind of a universal key combination, like win+m to minimize i.e. imitate the home button.

Gemini Keyboard Shortcuts

Got my Gemini on Saturday and just working my way around it.
Was looking at shortcuts for the Gemini Keyboard and found the documentation, however all shortcuts are a combination of a key labelled ? (magnifying glass) plus another key.
For the life of me I cannot find the key that is supposed to be the magnifying glass.
Anyone know which key this is supposed to be
Thanks in advance

I think those docs are for generic android with a keyboard; google has been pushing putting a "search" key directly onto keyboards.
The gemini shortcuts are mostly the "Fn" key plus another, which should be labelled. e.g. on mine (UK kbd):
ESC: "back" key, or hold down for "Power"
Fn+ESC: "power"
Fn+D: Android "home" key (desktop, not to be confused with traditional editing "home" key)
Fn+A: Android "recent" key (App switcher)
Alt+Tab: App switcher (standard android binding)
Fn+C: Volume down
Fn+V: Volume up
Fn+B: Brightness down
Fn+N: Brightness up
Fn+Alt: Phone app
Fn+Del: Settings
Fn+T: Mute microphone
Fn+R: Screenshot
etc.
Hope I am not hijacking this thread, but continued question about Fn usage
How does one get all the "strange" characters from the keyboard?
By strange, I mean stuff like "{}[]`/" and similar ones.
From the keyboard looks (symbols imprinted at the bottom of the key) I assumed its a combo of Fn+symbol, but it doesn't work.
I am using US keyboard layout and set to use Gemini keyboard as input method.

Did you figure this out? I'm trying to find that out now too.
It is [Fn] +'/ ' to bring up the symbols keyboard and you can select them from there. {}[]℅™®©¥¢√π∆~ etc...
Function key

When you use the Gemini Keyboard app to configure the Gemini US English layout there is actually one more step it seems. Once you've gone through the setup you should receive a notification to configure your keyboard. Select this and select the Gemini keyboard and you will be good to go. I ignored the notification for a while, believing it was prompting me to go through the setup process again but that was not the case.
Hope this helps.

Have you been able to figure out this problem? I'm having the same issue and the only mention of it online is this thread. Apparently, there is no easy way to change the language of the keyboard without changing the layout as well.
I have to press SHIFT + ESC to have ~, to have `just press ESC
To work ã, õ, ç, á, à, ê .....
- First, configure the layout to US International, then you'll be able to use ãáàâõóòôê....
- Second, ç (cedilla) has a detail. Continue with US INTERNATIONAL layout.
In Windows, '+c = ç, but in Android, '+c = ć.
' is apostrophe
So you have to press:
right alt + , = ç
shift + right alt + , = Ç
If even using US INTERNATIONAL Layout, you can't type what you want, it's an android issue. So install another US INTERNATIONAL layout.
