how to access System/

So upon plugging in my phone (newest iteration of clean rom) windows takes me into and lets me access the sdcard/ extension. I am trying to install an app by copy/pasting into the system/app directory but am unable to navigate to it via my computer. I'm unable to access it via root explorer because it says the folder is read only. anyone able to shed some insight into this situation?

In root explorer when you nav to /system, at the top you'll see a button that changes it from read only to read/write(see pic). If you wanna access /system from your computer you have to do it with adb.

Airdroid will also allow you to access the system folder from pc. Good luck
In cleanrom you can choose your file manager, each one has a different way of allowing your pc to write to storage, mount, umount, etc. Go through the settings and you will find what you are looking for.

You can download root toolbox and there is an option for it there.

Use Root Explorer.
Enable R/W
Go to /etc/permissions
Edit platform.xml as the bottom of the picture (add "media_rw" line).
Save and reboot

This is the only way it should be done.
Thanks all for the suggestions - I tried the geeksoft apk and it did the trick. Actually, the first one I tried probably worked also, but the app I was using wouldn't work (iTag)...but i switched to another (Mp3Edit) and that worked like a charm!
Incidentally, I opened that permission xml file to look at any changes, and it appears the line was added just as it should.
Thanks again!

EDIT: Problem solved and here is the solution:
Download this zip file: theflamingskull.com/downloads/addonsu-14.1-x86-silvermont.zip [I can't put links thats why i put the link like that]
Then open your recovery mode(twrp) and flash it.
My phone is Zenfone 2 ZE551ML so if your phone is not the same model please do not try it.
And thanks for solution " joaohkfaria".

Android Auto Error 22

Hi all,
I have Android Auto issue when I install some of custom ROMs, especially without GAPPS or has not built-in Android Auto app.
Since I have faced this problem many times, I think it may be a common problem for other users.
After I connect my phone to car visa USB cable, it gives this screen:
ROM file: riceDroid-12.1-202206220646-ginkgo-v2.5-GAPPS
{

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This problem blocks me to use many kinds of popular custom ROMs, especially as crDroid that has not include Google & GAPPS and gives very good performance to satisfy.
Could you help me about that to be able to fix the issue?

try making it a system app :
uninstall the app
reboot
create a folder named for exp "Auto"
paste the apk inside it (make sure the name of the apk is simple)
paste that folder inside : System/priv-app
if you use twrp set the folder permission to 755
if you use Ofox no need
reboot and let me know if it work

On reboot the added folder is missing from System/priv-app.
You can re-systemize apps using this:
https://github.com/entr0pia/terminal_systemizer
Tested this on Android 13 with Android Auto and got it working again.

Question I have granted permission countless times but it's still the same. I have tried granting access to several folders but no changes. Please advise.

Try:
Long press on app icon, information, permissions.
Thank you, but that's not where the problem is. All permissions are granted, but now the problem is within the app itself [download location]

IDM from play store.
It has been ok till yesterday when i tried downloading and i got this error.... Android has introduced scoped storage which restricts access to apps....
Then when i try to grant access for the download to start, the error comes again and again.

I have tried that a dozen times, created new IDM folders in the Download folder and inside other folders as well, but the app is still requesting for access.

I also have apps that require this permission and it works in A13.
Check with the app developer.
Thank you.
