How To Guide Nokia G20 boot.img flashing! - Nokia G10 / G20 / G21

Please be aware that this could damage your phone & I'm not responsible for this. So only do this if you really feel comfortable with it & you know about the risks!
This file is only for Nokia G20 TA-1365 and should not be used for any other device.
Download this file to manually Flash partition or partitions using fastboot Command.
For more detailed tutotial on how to flash this file you can read this tutorial here by senior member fipsib at XDA!
Let's say you want to flash boot.img partition so in CMD you will enter.
"fastboot flash boot boot.img" without quotes.
I have extracted OTA stock rom for my Nokia G20 and have all the files in the screenshot below. If you want all the files shown in the screenshot below I have uploaded them to Google Drive for faster and safer downloads rather than using any other file sharing service.
I have compressed all the files in a zip format and here is the Google Drive link for all the files shown below. Please request the access to the file so that I can grant access to you. I have done this to prevent Google setting an limit to download and avoid any unnecessary downloads.

Hi thanks for the link. But my phone is bricked, can't enter recovery or fastboot mode. So the only solution here is a read firmware or scatter file.

I would like to ask how do I extract the boot.img file from the phone? I can access the internals through the adb shell. I would love to learn the strategies used to extract the firmware from android devices that do not make them available. Thanks!!

Simply... You can't without root.
To get root (permanent root) you must unlock your bootloader........
Please, read this post to understand what i'm talking about https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/nokia-g21-development.4424031/
I think that today there's no way to unlock G10/G20/G21 bootloader. Then, no root or custom recovery can be build.
Maybe, @mvikrant97 can share with us some info (PM).

I unlocked my g20 TA-1343 by taking a hundred tiny screws out , shorting the test point, and using MTK Client 1.6
hyperlink of the link i pastedhttps://github.com/bkerler/mtkclient
I only took it apart because the other option was send it back to HMD
But I don't know how to flash the bin files with magisk or whatever as they're not valid images. but the thing is basically root if i felt like learning.

simply follow this guide -> LINK
- allow OEM unlock in the dev-settings (hit 5 times build number to see)
- allow usb debugging
- reboot to fastboot
- send "fastboot devices" command
- send "fastboot oem unlock" -> acknowledge
- send "fastboot flashing unlock" -> acknowledge
- flash the twrp image "fastboot flash recovery name_of_the_image.img"
- reboot into twrp by power of the device
- after that press vol+ up and power button (if i remember correct.. ) to get into twrp
- now u need a sd-card (micro) put no verity opt encrypt on it and magisk
- Backup all partitions u find.
- format data partition to get the size
- install magisk
- install no verity opt...
reboot
BV9600 should be rooted. Took me serveral times to get it working, because u need directly after "Flashing unlock command" to get the twrp stuff done.

The encryption disabler comes from @Zackptg5 all credits to him. THANKS -> his site LINK

---------- Post added at 10:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:27 PM ----------
First u need to go to fastboot mode, to unlock "OEM UNLOCK"
This is easy via adb
-> reboot fastboot
Did u install the correct driver? (ADB driver) is ur device listed?
i tried repacking it myself but with no luck so far, also tried various treble GSI, all booting on my BV9600Pro and basically working but mobile data and phone are broken so that's not an option for now
I don’t understand why unblock the bootloader at all if everything is installed on the MTK platform using the SP Flash Tool !?
Why these dances with adb and fastboot? if a everything is done much easier ...
You do not install the factory software using adb ? not ?? so why can't TWRP be installed and installed using the SP Flash Tool!? Why complicate things?
Root with sp Flash tool
Hi please Anyone could explain this procedure with Sp Flash Tool and post it?

Because the vendor (Blackview) locks the bootloader (like any other brand does) and does not allow installing any other recovery without it.!?

Is this a statement or a question? Sorry, I do not know English and I use a translator ..
II repeat once again, in order to install TWRP you do not need to unlock the bootloader!
it installs without problems using the SP Flash Tool
and this is not an assumption but a statement!
My first copy of the smartphone received TWRP. It was on my copy that all the first tests of TWRP and ROOT were conducted.

I'm glad to hear that it works that way to you. But that doesn't worked for me. So i wrote the way i took, to root. Let the others choose, wich way works for them. :fingers-crossed::good:
I am using another MTK device and SP FlashTool is great it lets you recover from any software brick. So I will advice people to use this method.
I am planning on buying bv9600 pro and having twrp ported and root is a good start to custom roms.
The touch driver issue on twrp should be easily solved with the good kernel module for the twrp. And official twrp support would be nice.
Subscribed to the thread will see where it goes.
hi guys, can you share a clean system twrp backup of bv9600? because my USB is damaged and i can not use sp flash tool to clean restore. thanks!
Hi, i try to root my bv9600 pro, but all i end up is on reboot the system restores to factory no TWRP or anything on it. I connected it to MTKdroidtools and it complains about a file /system/recovery-from-boot.p which restores recovery and obviously after it the system too.
Thanks for any help
edit: LOL nevermind, working fine now, don't know what was going wrong, in a last try just downloaded the latest stable magisk again. Thanks AMDFenics for the howto
Just one thing, can i get rid of this 5 sec. warning that the mobile is unlocked?

adb/twrp issues....

Firstly, when plugging my 7t in to my windows 10 PC, I am asked to choose which mode to go in within usb preferences, as I did previously in order to achieve and ADB driver connection I chose file transfer.......
this didn't work for some reason, only when in MIDI did I get a confirmation with adb devices.....even though there is still no sign of adb interface in device manager.....
any ideas? I can get adb connection with MIDI but is this good enough to flash recoveries/boot images etc....?
I tried to flash twrp and I could successfully boot into twrp directly via fastboot but twrp couldn't seen any of my storage, despite having all security methods turned off...
all i want to do is gain root access but I am having no joy....
ever since android 10 rooting anything for me has been a pain in the ass......truly fed up....it shouldn't be this hard......
I also flashed a patched boot image in an attempt to gain root access but it all did was break my wifi........which i fixed by copying over the latest image and installing locally......
please HELP....

You will have to wipe the data and then twrp can access internal storage.
This is how I did (in my phone, which is not Oneplus, but the process remain same for all phones), boot to fastboot mode and type this:
fastboot -w
Now, boot your phone to recovery mode:
(Now take complete twrp backup of your phone, and save it in your pc, before proceeding futher)

TWRP is not functional at the moment, so stay away from it.
The only way to root right now is to use the patch boot image method.

Oh, I didn't know this phone was on Android 10, Thanks for letting me know.
TWRP doesn't support Android 10 yet.
You can see it here

Actually there is a twrp compiled for this phone, but that doesn't work , you can see the messages in thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7t/development/recovery-unofficial-twrp-recovery-t3976961
The steps I told, was for Android 9 and earlier devices, I assumed, this is an old device.
@mediaman123, So please wait, until twrp starts supporting the Android 10.
And for rooting, I am not sure, whether magisk supports this new phone or not.
Maybe @Lossyx can help you on that.

You can go ahead and just fastboot boot them. If it works then just proceed, if it doesn't, just hold volume up+down and power button. (To boot into fastboot or restart phone)
Nothing will change in the system because it only boots a temporary image.
If your want to extract your own boot image you can use this tool.

How to root?

Hi everyone
My phone model is xt2075-3,I want to root
Can I directly flash the latest magisk(20.4) to get root permission after unlocking BL?
I've succeeded in getting root. The steps are as follows
1.Download the twrp for your mobile phone,and magisk20.4.zip,magisk 7.5.1.apk
2.Visit Motorola official unlock website to unlock BL
3.You have 2 choice,A.boot on twrp one time;B.flash twrp;I choose A
4.Whatever your choose,in the twrp,install magisk zip,after done,reboot system
Enjoy root!
If you use the Magisk Manager to patch the boot image manually, and then flash that through fastboot - will that work also?
(My phone has yet to arrive so can't test this just yet...)
Update : i got the 8gb ram 128gb varient and i could boot into twrp from fastboot but i cannot flash replacing stock recovery nor i can see the internal or external memory due to decryption error
However, i basically unlocked boot loader and booted in fast boot then i flashed the patched boot.img ( installed magisk apk and added the stock boot.img inside the phone to patch it) then copy it back to pc and flashed it in fastboot mode and now i got root access
NOTE : if you happen to do something wrong you cannot use rescue and backup software to restore your phone to stock again ... flash stock boot.img in fastboot first so the software will recognize the phone back again

NOTE : if you happen to do something wrong you cannot use rescue and backup software to restore your phone to stock again ... flash stock boot.img in fastboot first so the software will recognize the phone back again

Get the full stock image by downloading rescue and smart assistant app from lenovo which supports moto phones ... Do login and get the fastboot rescue option while plugging your phone in the pc in fastboot mode .. then it will download it full firmware for your varient
Becareful that continue to flash the firmware will wipe your phone completely
After that get a copy of the boot.img file ... Copy it to the internal memory and install magisk manager apk from its official github site ... Now patch the boot.img you copied in your phone inside the magisk app then copy it back to your pc
Lear how to flash it from fastboot
Flash it
Done .. you are now rooted by patched boot.img with stock recovery !

I think the flash method fails because there is no partition called "recovery" - as an A/B device it looks like there are two:
Code:
nairo:/ $ ls -l /dev/block/by-name/ | grep recovery
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 16 1970-05-20 07:34 recovery_a -> /dev/block/sdd20
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 16 1970-05-20 07:34 recovery_b -> /dev/block/sdf20
if you have the Magisk zip file on the internal storage you can use the "fastboot boot twrp.img" method to flash it from there (for some reason TWRP can't see the SD card on my device)
Now for my question... my rooted (UK Retail) device has indicated that there is an OTA update:
I've tried using the method described here to restore the boot partition to stock so that it doesn't interfere with the process, but it fails (see attached images).
Does anyone know of a working method? I have downloaded the full (2+GB) update so am prepared to flash that (and restore everything else from backups) if necessary - but would rather not if it can be avoided...

Hi @xth88312 ,
can you give the link you used to download TWRP for Moto XT2075-3?
I unlocked my phone through the official Motorola site:
Unlocking the Bootloader | Motorola Support US
Visit the customer support page to view user guides, FAQs, bluetooth pairing, software downloads, drivers, tutorials and to get repair and contact us information.
motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com
I downloaded the latest Magisk and MagiskManager in the same directory from
Releases · topjohnwu/Magisk
The Magic Mask for Android. Contribute to topjohnwu/Magisk development by creating an account on GitHub.
github.com
I downloaded the original firmware from https://mirrors.lolinet.com/ and extracted the boot.img in the same directory, then issued, through the ADB connection:
Code:
adb install ./MagiskManager-*.apk
adb push ./boot.img /sdcard/Download/
(Replace the star as needed)
I opened MagiskManager app (you need to be connected to the Internet) and in the Magisk card I tapped Install > "Select and Patch a File". I browsed for and selected /sdcard/Download/boot.img and tapped "Let's go". A patched image /sdcard/Download/magisk_patched_*.img is created. Then, through the ADB connection, I issued:
Code:
adb pull /sdcard/Download/magisk_patched_*.img
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot flash boot magisk_patched_*.img
fastboot reboot
At reboot, the phone was rooted.

How To Guide [Oneplus 9 Pro] Extract partitions on unrooted or locked phone.

This manual will be useful for phones with Oxygen firmware, because very often they are get incremental updates and many users cannot install update with root, cannot find a stock boot, etc.
Also for those who want to unlock the bootloader at the first time and can save the persist patririon.
What are we need:
* MSMTools
* working fastboot
Let's start:
* reboot your phone in fastboot mode
* enter in cmd console
Code:
fastboot getvar current-slot
in that step we determine the current slot to extract the correct partitions
* start MSMTool program

Are you able to expand this tutorial on how to change partitions or on how to "update" msm so it uses a later version of OOS to unbrick the device?
The actual msm tool for OP9 Pro would install OOS11. But can it be changed to flash OOS12?
this tutorial only for how to extract partitions. android 11, 12, coloros, no matter.
for others can't help you
This part was empty for me:
Command "Fastboot devices" was working..
The tutorial in the first post is somewhat misleading. Fastboot is needed to flash back the partitions. In order for the partitions to be secured with the MSM tool, the phone must be in the EDL mode.
1. that means shutdown the phone
2. Start the MSM tool and press F8 on the keyboard
3. Press both volume keys at the same time and then connect the USB cable
4. Now the tool would have to recognize your phone and the partitions can be selected
The rest is well described in the first post.
I have a question, Im new in xda and I want to backup modest 1/2 and persist. In this post you can do it in MSM but I cannot see modemst1 or 2 in the partitions checkbox. They have another name? Or I cannot backup those partitions via MSM?

You don't need root to backup, but you do to restore the backup.
This is what my phone says when I open partitions backup
So that's why I want to do it via MSM like this post, but I don't know what partitions do I have to check in MSM. I can see persist but modest 1/2 I cant

No, using the MSM tool to do a flash readback, which saves most of the firmware to the C: drive
If your phone is already on, you can also use the following command in command prompt to use ADB to reboot into EDL.
adb reboot edl
Still waiting for an answer from OP or anyone else: After we have made a flash read-back via MSM, how are these firmware files restored????

Flashed via Fastboot. For example if you extract boot.img from read-back and you want to restore the boot.img. Reboot your device into Fastboot and enter the following command in command prompt on your computer:
fastboot flash boot boot.img.
Depending on what you are flashing, you need to change the command accordingly. e.g vendor_boot.img
fastboot flash vendor_boot vendor_boot.img

You don't need TWRP for root, just get unlocked bootloader and get the boot.img file from your rom and use the Magisk app to patch it then flash it with fastboot
Code:
Fastboot.exe flash boot magicbootimg.img

Download the Full ROM (Fastboot) which is bigger and you can find the "boot.img" easier.
https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/
I have downloaded the ROM from https://c.mi.com
Official Xiaomi Rom download site but the fastboot logo changed and I no longer have the bunny on fastboot
Send me a screen shot of your about screen and I will send you a modified boot.img but you can do it yourself from the link I sent you. if you look at their download links they are all from mi servers.

First you need to unlock the bootloader
Then follow these steps:
1 - Download the Fastboot ROM file for your device
2 - Extract the boot.img file from the ROM file, then copy it to your device's storage
3- Download the Majesk app and install it, then flash the boot.img file from inside the Majesk, you will have a new file named Majesk_patch.img in your downloads folder, copy it to your computer
4 - Then download the ADB platform and open it and open the command prompt from within the folder "Make sure to copy the file that you flashed into Magisk from copying it into the folder"
5 - Put your phone into fastboot mode by pressing the power key and volume down, then connect it to the computer, and type the following command at the command prompt:
fastboot flash boot boot.img " Here is the file that I copied inside the adb folder after changing its name to boot.img"
Then type the following command to restart the phone:
fastboot reboot
Congratulations, your phone has been successfully rooted
