Question Poco F3 mobile data and wifi drop randomly - Xiaomi Poco F3 / Xiaomi Mi 11X / Redmi K40

Hi, I have a brand new Poco F3 6GB/128GB running on MIUI 12.5.6.0 Global Stable, and sometimes wifi and/or mobile data drop randomly.
I was just walking home about 30 minutes ago while playing Clash Royale on mobile data, had full signal bar and was on 4G+, then suddenly it lost internet access, 4G+ symbol disappeared, but the full bar of signal still remained for a few seconds before going out of signal, and then suddenly I have full signal bar and 4G+ again. Loss of connectivity lasted for about 15 to 20 seconds.
This happened in a place where I always had 100% coverage, full bar of signal and 4G+ on any phone.
I am using only SIM1, the second slot is not being used.
It has also happened twice on wifi, and on both occasions I was also playing Clash Royale while laying on my bed, then suddenly wifi drops and takes about 5 to 10 seconds to reconnect. I usually get 'Good' signal strength in bed, sometimes at 260Mbps and sometimes at 585Mbps, every other phone I had could maintain a wifi connection to my AP from bed.
Is anyone else having random connectivity drops?

It can be related to: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/random-reboots-while-using-lte-in-aosp-roms.4330991/
and: https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/poco-f3-12-5-6-loses-gps-signal.62828/
(Same issues)
and unfortunately no fix from xiaomi..

I will be able to unlock the bootloader in about 24 hours, if the .eu ROM does not fix this issue I will return the phone on Monday.

I have a bug ticket submitted to Xiaomi, it's just a matter of time (hopefully) till they provide the modem crash fix! Can you force your mobile to 3g, and see if you can reproduce? I bet you can't..just to confirm that we're having the same issue.

Haha I'm currently very curious whether Xiaomi did such "kernel hack" as well, which just resets the modem rather than forcing the whole system to reboot.
I'm currently on LineageOS with custom kernel, which implements such "kernel hack". To me at least random connection loss is much less bad than random sudden system reboots.

I'm curious what your dmesg will look like, although I'm not a dev myself.

Although I'm also a victim of random modem crashes (and initially it's not only modem crashing, it's the whole system was forced to reboot, until I found the "kernel hack"), honestly I'm not sure whether all these "random signal drop" "random reboots" issues share one common root cause at all. I have no idea it's a software issue (no matter it's kernel driver, firmware, or even some userspace stuff) or a hardware one either.
Besides, wifi and cellular belong to different subsystems, if I'm not mistaken? To be honest I haven't noticed system reboot triggerred by reasons other than "esoc0" (which should be cellular, not wifi?) myself.

I'm using Poco F3 on T-Mobile here in the valley in Southern California. I manually enabled VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling. I have my SIM card in slot 1. I'm on MIUI Global 13.0.2 Stable. Everything is working great, but when I drive to certain low signal areas, the phone switches to 4G and will not switch back to showing VoLTE 5G in the status bar even when I'm back to a great signal area. I have to use airplane mode, or toggle VoLTE setting off and back on to get it to switch back to 5G with VoLTE working again. Any idea if there's a way to permanently fix this issue? I don't know why it switches to 4G and never switches back! Is this possibly related to the modem crashing bug discussed on this thread? I love the phone but this bug is very irritating!

Hello. Im having the same issue. Were you able to fix the issue?

[Q] Strange Arc S signal / battery drainage problem

I bought myself Arc S, it came loaded with .62 firmware. On my initial run, battery ran for about a day, later on for two or maybe even three days. Then I started to work in another country. As far as I remember, battery life was the same, even though the network was not (where I work now is 2G only, in my home country 3G). Then one day messed around with a Xperia S apps, did a stupid mistake and started to get force closes with launcher. I had to repair software.
Since the software reinstallation, my battery life degraded to less than a day without even touching it. Therefore I installed Battery Monitor Widget, to see, what is going on. I noticed, that battery drainage is about 70-110 ma in average, as far as I know, it should be much lower (under 30ma?). I have to say, that I tested this with .62, .42 firmware and it's all the same. When I turn phone to airplane mode, energy consumption lowers to under 5ma - which is normal i guess.
It began to bug me even more, as we bought small alarm clock with radio. I noticed, that when this alarm clock is on, despite from 2 other phones our room, my Arc S is the only phone, which makes this kind of searching-for-signal or calling speaker interference (noise coming out of speaker). My phone does that all the time, even in idle mode. This can be also heard when we have our TV on on. So, if I don't want to hear that, I have to unplug the alarm clock or put my phone into airplane, which sucks.
I asked a guy next building, if he has the same problems with Arc S, and he says that his phone can live up to 5 days with one charge (is connected to the same network provider), so I guess it is not network related?
I wonder, is there a possibility, my phone's radio is broken somehow? Or it was faulty, and firmware reinstall somehow broke it to the end? So that is draining battery all the time - looking for signal? Any way to fix this? Flashing different base bands did not help, tried that already...anybody knows a fix for this, apart from returning it to my provider - since I'm 4 months away from my country
Anybody heard for any similar problem with Arc S?
Thanks in advance! (if needed, I can also post battery usage screenshot, but I think it's not much of a help)

That seems like the issue here if I'm understanding you correctly. If you don't have 3G service where you currently are, and you did not turn off 3G, your phone will constantly try and find a 3G signal.
Airplane mode fixing the issue makes this seem even more likely. Try disabling 3G and see if it helps.
Problem is, that's what I did almost instantly when I came here, I set it to GSM only. One thing I noticed right now, when I check into About phone, under Mobile network type, my Arc S has: UNKNOWN, where my friends HTC says EDGE. Maybe here lies a problem? Why my phone can't detect network type?
Incredibly, I found the reason for my drainage and signal search. When I came into that country where I work now, my provider offered me to turn off data transfer (provider turns it off for me). Of course I did not want any unintended data transfer, so I turned it off by sending sms to service number. After I reinstalled software (that was my first reboot here), phone couldn't find network type for that reason, and was searching for it all the time. Yesterday I allowed data transfer by sms again, phone found EDGE network, can't hear any more noise on our alarm clock and battery drainage is about 4% per 8,5 hour. Excellent
I hope this helps anyone out there with drainage problems.
I think you can also turn off/disable data transfer/traffic with the Data traffic widget, if you want to avoid using data.
xperia arc s
hold up, i dont understand. so im pretty sure i have the same problem. get about 17 hours with berely using my phone on any rom/kernal/firmware. even with data turned off, betterbatterystats shows 'noor unknown signal' and 'no data conection'? i sued to able to get 3 or more days out of my phone??
I think there is an application, which might be keeping the phone alive.
dout it, still drains after a complete rom wipe

[Q] Wifi occasionally disconnecting in standby

So I've had this problem for awhile now with the wifi disconnecting itself during standby. The other day I decided to start fresh and went did a complete wipe and reflashed CM (10.1 RC).
The problem did not present itself during the 1st or 2nd day, however yesterday I noticed the wifi signal bar went grey for a second and reconnected. So I checked my radio version and noticed it was a few months behind, downloaded the latest and flashed it. Problem didn't show up until the next day where the wifi signal briefly turned grey and reconnected.
Wifi settings are set to always stay on when screen is off and I've tried almost every combo of settings in the wifi menu to stop it. This is fairly annoying since when I have wifi turned on I do not get texts since I use GV. Yes, I can turn off wifi and use my phone's internet, but I have bad signal here and the speeds are extremely slow.
I'm not sure what the problem could be, I always thought it was a bad flash the first time I did it and it was a bug. I thought wiping everything and flashing an RC would fix the problems.
Any thoughts on what could be causing it? I'm on stock CM with no custom kernels.

3G and signal problem

thanks
No signal
By “no signal”, did you mean Flight mode? Check in the “Settings>About device>Baseband version”, what it states?
N5100XXBMC8
it usually happen when i hang out from a call
the problem happen now twice a each day

Wifi on leads to excessive heat.

Recently upgraded and re-rooted and seemly after an update to G3 tweak box keeping the wifi on destroys my battery and heats the device off.
Better battery stats states that the sensors.qcom have been going forever.
Work around for now is to use the device without the wifi on. Thankfully I have unlimited data, but this is kinda annoying.
Any help would be much appreciated.
In my case, once I turn on Wi-Fi, not only the top back part of the device starts heating up, also the phone becomes laggy and buggy. For instance, clicking Quiet mode icon doesn't actually turn it on/off. Additionally, my text messages stop sending/receiving for some time (up to hours!). What I've noticed is that my LTE icon with arrows lighting up appears for a few seconds, then goes away, then reappears, and the cycle continues. I can confirm that my WiFi internet works though, since if I disable mobile data, I am still able to access the internet.
Playing with advanced WiFi options, and removing all saved networks did not help. Having WiFi on, but not connected to any network, is fine and doesn't cause any of the above.
I kept the WiFi off during the weekend (good 2-3 days), and everything was cool and smooth! But I can't just not use WiFi; it's not efficient and I used ~1.5GB of data.
A friend of mine said their colleague experienced the same. He did a factory reset and everything is good. I have not yet had the time to try that myself.

Are you referring to "Allow Wi-Fi scanning" under Advanced Wi-Fi settings or the Location Services in general?

Tried, but issue still persists.
I am going to backup my data, and proceed with a hard (factory) reset. Hopefully it will be resolved, if not I have to look into getting a replacement (which would be a whole different issue to deal with).

that won't help because this is probably just a rogue app a hard reset might fix this if not try an 10j firmware

Hard reset seems to have fixed it for now! *knock on wood* And I've been paying careful attention to the apps, installing things in stages.

What is your signal strength on Wifi? Mine does seem to heat up considerably on Less than optimal signal strengths.
Mine has been recently returned to stock and wiped, in advance of me RMAing it because I have the "cracks" developing at mic and infrared ports.

Signal strength was almost full. It still heats up with a lot of use, which is understandable. Definitely not as excessively as before (when I wasn't doing anything and it was heating up).
I didn't play with any of the advanced Wi-Fi settings (did not change them from the default), except for removing the checkmark of notifications of open networks.
No signs of cracks on mine, and I am not using a case currently (it is being shipped to me).

Just an update:
No issues with WiFi yet. Some heat during heavy use, but nothing like before (in terms of heat and lag).
LTE symbol sometimes appears even when on WiFi, but definitely not as much as it used to. I think it started doing that once I installed Rogers' VVM Plus app (seems like it needs to communicate with the server directly or something). No biggie, since I don't notice any of the problems I used to have.
Lastly, I'm quite pleased with the battery life now!!

A5 2017 - Bad WIFI

Hi,
I have very annoying probkem with my A5 2017 running Nougat with the november sec. Patch. The problem is in WIFi, it often becomes very slow, but fixes after i turn the WIFI on and off. Also, when watching YouTube, the signal drops, speed is super slow and the WIFI often reconnects. When browsing, the speed often becomes slow, it does reconnect but not that often.
It is still presented even factory resets. Both done in M and N, was having same issue with M. Adaptive WIFI is off.
Any solutions? Thanks.

Ummmm....I remember this issue on stock ROM. Unfortunately, I never got around to investigating it as it never really bothered me. The issue is definitely with the stock firmware - never had this issue on LOS.
Sorry I don't have a clear solution for you. I'm sure someone will enlighten you and if I find any further information, I'll post in here.
Ok thanks, I will try to contact Samsung as well.
Hello friend...
On my phone, the wi-fi is normal.
How did you update it?
Via OTA or via Odin?
I do not recommend updates via OTA, they usually give a lot of problems ...
If you upgraded via Odin, did you clear the caches? (wipe)
Has anyone resolved this issue, recommended the a5 2017 to my mate and now he can't use youtube and other chromecast apps as it keeps messing up the WiFi.
I've used the OTA. I always clear cache, any solution? Also the WiFi signal sometimes become weaker, and ten recover to normal, I am standing in one place, weird.
Also when I leave the phone in standby with WIFI on, the battery seems to discharge pretty fast, but when I unlock the phone after the idle, the WIFi becomes very slow and web pages takes minutes to load, after it finishes loading, it is back to normal.
Guys, did any of you find solution? It is super annoying.
So, what seems to work (at least for now) is to delete the data from the WlanTest app in the settings (make sure that you can view system apps) then delete the app data.
